Tuning ok Google texting - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Anyway to adjust the texting cut off time on okay Google . What having issues with this is not letting me speak a full sentence before it stops and says okay would you like to send message or change. I tried texting my wife saying "I'm on my way home do you need me to pick anything up ." As soon as I said the words "I'm on my way home"... even though I didn't take a pause while speaking it immediately ended and said okay do you want to send "I'm on my way home" or do you want to change the message? It works nowhere near as good as the swype voice texting I never have any issues with Swype and can even tell it punctuation marks and take long pauses .

Sprint Visual Voicemail to text trial expires in 3 days.. what happens next?

What happens when my free trial runs out? This service is laughably bad to the point of being usable ONLY as a source of comedy. I am not interested in paying for this.
Will it just stop working or is it going to keep working and start charging me money without my permission? Should I just uninstall it now? Can anyone recommend a suitable replacement visual voice-mail app?

Google voice hands down...
I would suggest (personal opinion on style and battery usage) installing the installing the inverted version here just because black looks slicker and causes less work for the screen.

When I signed up it said that when my free trial was up I would be presented with an option to continue the service or to cancel. They specifically stated that there is NO automatic billing once the trial is up.
How do I go about removing the sprint app? I tried dragging it to the trash can and that didn't work.. I have sdx stock app remover, but I don't see anything obviously titled "voicemail" or some such..
also, google voice setup is stuck at "verifying phone number" been that way for at least a minute now.. long enough for the screen to turn off
edit: yea, that google voice isn't installing.. I'm going to try the market version, then come back to the inverted version at a later time.. I really hate non-black themed apps too..

try setting it up on a computer and skipping that step on your phone. I only ever did that set up when I was dealing with a non-smartphone.
^^ ah, okay I'll try that ^^
awesome, the market version just force closes at the same point.. This is some bull****

The stock app is called cm-android. And you can try this apk. Its the inverted and I edited it to have a transparent widget. I just put it on mine and it installed fine.
disregard this post.. **** was going bad here.. but its better now.
OKAY, installed
Thanks gitusum.
Still not perfect.. I tried a test call and my hilarious outgoing greeting is gone.. replaced by some generic woman and there is no option to even leave a voicemail, she just says something like the call failed, please try again.
well okay the good news is that I'm back where I started with the stock sprint voicemail to text app.. With my hilariously rude outgoing greeting!
I don't know why, but forwarding my voicemail to google simply was not working.
Work is over, so I quit for today. Will try again tomorrow. Thanks for the help everyone!

Did you set it up /w voice.google.com first? Setting up through the app itself doesnt work all that well IMO. Once it is setup you can just skip the voicemail setup step if/when you reinstall. I just pressed activate google voicemail on this phone. It then should make you dial a #. After that it is done.
yea setting it up through the voice app doesn't work but setting it up on a computer did. It's just that dialing the code to forward voicemails to google voice doesn't do anything but break my voicemail.
If I call my number I get some kind of cut-off error.. it sounds like "-all could not be completed, please try again" with no option to leave a voicemail. The code to deactivate the voicemail forwarding works fine at restoring the original sprint voicemail service.

[Q] Double Letters on Gingerbread Keyboard?

So I searched and couldn't find a direct answer basically here it goes,
I'm using CM7 and the gingerbread keyboard that comes stock. This has been happening since alpha and it slows down my texting. I'm a big texter, and I send about 25-35 thousand texts a month. So I need this to be fixed!
What happens, is that when I'm normally texting sometimes letters will automatically type themselves twice. Such as if I'm texting the word "always" it will usually come out as "aalways" and it looks dumb. I love the gingerbread keyboard but I might have to result in using another keyboard if this continues!(Does this drain battery life?) I don't want to use swype.
If there's a fix let me know! And I checked for a calibration setting and couldn't find one :/
Also happens to me. I just go back and fix it. It's not a HUGE problem, but it's there.
Happens to me also. I Googled it to make sure I'm not the only one. I was starting to think I had the beginning signs of Parkinsons. It's good to know I'm not the only one.
I've also noticed that there are times when the auto-suggest does not work. If you stop typing for a few seconds it comes back. And I've also had a problem with the keyboard not responding as fast I am typing and I have to slow down so it can keep up.
Did you try downloading a different keyboard from the market?
Yeah I'm actually using a downloaded gingerbread keyboard from the market. It just happens often enough to slow down my texting.

Yes, this is a frustrating reoccurring issue. Sometimes it'll even give you double letters of two of the first letters in a word, for example, "like ththis." It's especially ridiculous when it happens to only two letter words, like "to" for example, which results in "I'm going toto the movies."
I've filed a report with Google, so please visit the link and star and add your own testimony if you wish. http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=14755
I even made a video demonstrating the problem to show Google. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUZdvr6Pdjk
Smart Keyboard Pro was my solution. Got tired of always getting "toto" when I type "to." And I also always get the doubt first letter on the word.
I'm on an epic 4g and I have this problem also. If you turn on the language packs when you push space bar and a quickly it wont register the "a". This problem doesn't occur nearly as often when typing with the language packs off. Just another thing to add to the complaint ;-)

Voice Searching is Horrible

I have a SGS running Doc JS8 and a Bell Canada Customer. I been having nothing but trouble with Voice search and Voice Dialer. I say "Text <contact name> How are you" it put "To <contact name> How are you" in the body and then i have to click the To field and press the button again to get the contact.
I say Call < Contact Name> it starts a google search. Google search is about the only thing it can do actuarially and sometimes the nav commands works but usually a hit or miss. Its not me because google search/body of text are spot on.
There is another Voice app called Voice Dialer which actually works way better and gets the correct contact without issue and can even open apps, but the annoying thing is it displays a popup you have to click and not the 15 second timer you see is Google Search.
Is there anyway to get Google Voice Actions to work better??
Is there anyway to use your voice to play Music??
I find the same. Its pretty hit and miss and highly frustrating. I can randomly send the odd text but that is it. Have never got it to do anything else which is a shame because voice commands were one of the main selling points of the sgs.

Try Vlingo. It has 100x better voice recognition than Google. Shocking but true...

I use vlingo it requires a lot of practice this post is typed by default voice search on samsung keyboard. Speak slow and practoce a lot.
i just wish google search worked the way it should
Both Vlingo and Google stuff work OK for me but I don't use them nearly as much as I though I would...turns out I look and feel like an idiot barking orders at my phone. I guess it might be more useful in the car but I don't drive much.

S Voice Crashing

I know this has been discussed with other devices, but as far as I can see, no one yet has brought this for the S4, I can't tell you if it worked before I de-bloated it on Monday, but now that I needed the S Voice it opens but once you give the command it gives the sound that says that it gets the command, but then the Screen goes black for up to 10 seconds and then it pops up the error saying that S Voice stopped working.
Like I said I never used it before, so I don't really know if after the command I give it suppose to say something back to me confirming it and then does the magic, so I have doubts if what is really failing is S Voice or the Speech App, I already cleared all data and cache for S Voice, Google Text To Speech and Samsung Text to Speech, but nothing works.
Anybody with the same issue or know how to fix this? Thanks.

I had the same exact issue... Possibly because you removed ChatOn and ChatOnV.... Its required in one of the voice command menus which probably blew it up.
Only way is to download Kies and do a Kies restore. Thats how I got it back working.
Lag Reduction Guide in General section will tell you how its done.
Thanks for the info, I was guessing that Chat on was the issue... however, for me reset to factory is not an option as of now, I really don't use the S Voice, I was just testing it, and if in order to get this back to work, I need to reset and set again all my apps and settings in general, I better not do it. I even prefer just to uninstall S Voice for now until I'm force to do a reset.
Thanks anyway.
Truthfully, for my restore and initialization through keys, my apps were still there after I restored.
Not sure if this will be your case but you can try it.
Thanks, after reading your experience I got the courage to do it myself and for my surprise, there were all my apps and settings, and there I have S Voice back. Thanks a lot.

S Voice almost instantly goes to "I did not understand you"

Really satisfied with the phone so far, but s voice keeps going on my nerves. Almost everytime it like instantly goes to the I didn't understand you, please repeat error message, without letting me even pronounce the first word. For example, new appointment tomorrow 8 o clock bring a book, it will cut me off halfway through the word appointment already. Is it too sensitive, does it think ambient sounds is speech input? Any way to calibrate that? It's pretty useless and takes me like ten tries to set a new appointment with s Voice, so I mostly use s planner and just type the stuff in, is way easier. Any idea?
S-voice not working at all !!

Same problem here. Not recognizing contacts, working very very slow,...
In other words not workable and usable.
Why aren't you simply using Google now instead?

Sure. No problem. But my partner has an new Samsung A3-2016 and s-voice is working perfectly on this device. You can always use google now but on a cellphone that costs 800€ it should work perfectly.

sorry, no solution. I flashed another ROM (German BTU) to see. Same problem. I have no clue what causes this malfunction.
Anybody ??
From what I see It is a software problem. So if Samsung doesn't fix it, you have to keep it as it is.
