Google Play services variants, which version is recommended to install on FireHD-8? - Fire HD 8 and HD 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I have successfully installed the Google Play Store on my new Amazon Fire HD 8 using Rootjunky method (posted for Fire-7).
However I have a curious question...
I have noticed that some fireHD-8 users have installed the 230 and 238 variants of Google Play Services APP ( and also other 240, 248 and 248 variants).
Google Play services 8.7.02 (2624717-238)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/hd8-hd10/development/install-google-apps-adb-pc-t3314420
http://www.apkmirror.com/wp-content/themes/APKMirror/download.php?id=63637
----------------
I am aware that this last 3 mumbers of the APP, defines:
-Android Version.
-CPU architecture.
-DPI
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-services/google-play-services-8-7-03-release/
Google Play services, App Notes:
To figure out the right version of Google Play services for your Android device, go to*Settings -> Apps -> Google Play services, and look at the last 3 numbers in the parentheses. You'll see something like -XYZ where:
* X defines Android version:
0 for Android <5.02 for Android 5.0 and 5.1 starting with Play Services v84 for Android 5.0 and 5.1 before Play Services v8, Android >= 6.0 after7 for Android 5.08 for Android TV
* Y defines CPU architecture:
1 for armeabi3 for armeabi-v7a4 for arm64-v8a7 for x86
* Z defines DPI:
0 for universal2 for 1604 for 2406 for 3208 for 480
Notes:
It seems that -7YZ builds became -4YZ with Google Play services v6.5. If you were on -7YZ before, you should now install -4YZ.It seems that -4YZ builds got split into -2YZ for Lollipop and -4YZ for Marshmallow with Google Play services v8. If you were on -4YZ before, you should now install -2YZ in Lollipop and -4YZ in Marshmallow.Looks like -8YZ builds are for Android TV.
Examples:
-014 for Android <5.0 armeabi CPU 240 DPI device-438 for Android 6.0+ armeabi-v7a CPU 480 DPI device-876 for Android TV x86 CPU 320 DPI device
----------------
So, I would like to know which is the correct or recommended version to install on the Fire HD 8, that would work better?

Adding a little clarity:

No Google Play Services Variant Matches?!
My dpi on my Kindle fire doesn't match any of the choices. Mine is 171 dpi. What variant do I choose for Google Play Services?

What is Google Apps Minimal Edition and what makes it different from other GApps packages?
Google Apps Minimal Edition for Android 5.0.x & 5.1 is a modified, slimmed down version of the Google Apps package. Needing advise how to install gapps (on radical r-d211 2-din)

Hi guys
I have android head unit from a german / swiss manufacturer (radical r-d211 2-din). Which is running Andorid 9. I can't post links here so its a bit hard to post the details. => www{dot}my-radical{dot}com
Apparently the model is a 8227l
Kernel: 3.18.79 / [email protected] #58
Build number: full_8227l_demo-userdebug 9 O11019 1571038753 userdebug
Custom build version: alps-mp-o1.mp5
HMI: LOMU08.D.P.F.3.08.2020.04.02.09.12
MCU: LMQ07.191025(H)
MEDIA: HC_v2.0.0_191113_1430(v1.71)
BTV: BT.19.11.12.1200
I'd like to install GAPPS because these are missing. It is also not possible to register my google account.
I can install APK's, but installing the g play store or the g play services doesn't work. => Apps are crashing.
I don't have root permissions, but from what I see is that I can enable usb debugging tools.
I would like to preserve the current rom because it is working so far. (Front / Rear camera, Bluetooth)
The device is a touch only model, a reset button is available. The official rom can be downloaded from the site.
So my questions are basically:
- Do I need to root my device if I want to install the gapps?
- If so what tool would be advised to try to root my device? (I have access to Windows and Linux)
- Is it possible to root a device and preserve my stock rom without access to the source? => Only the published update / image
- How do I get access to the recovery functions without physical buttons? (I rooted once an android phone years ago...)
Thanks
Same Radio, same Problem
Hi,
i have exactly the same Problem. I am frustrated because when i got the radio google apps like google maps worked just fine. But after an update from the radical website it doesn't work anymore and crashes when i install google play services ( google account manager, google services framework, google play services and google play store). So there should be a way do make it work. Did you find any solution in the meantime?
Thanx Tobias
Hi Tobias
I havn't found anything yet. But I would be interested in a solution. Please let me know if you find something.
Thanks
Does anyone have a solution for this problem? Same problem here....
Thanks

Help with upgrade of YT9213AJ (full_8227L_demo) and get andriod auto working (possibly)

I have a 10.1" head unit. I wish I never would have bought it (don't buy one). After all the pain of install, I don't want to replace it.
I want to get android auto working with it. I installed the right APK and it had some dependencies ( google maps and google browser). I sideloaded all three, I cleared the problem of the dependencies with andriod auto, and it cleared the install screen.
Now android auto won't load, I think I need to upgrade the andriod and see if that helps
So here is my question: Can I update my firmware? How can I find the rom?
Can I get andriod auto to work with it?
Here are the specs:

You are correct. These units are horrible, but with a bit of tweaking, you can get them to perform reasonably well. I've made a guide on how to improve performance and user experience on YT9213AJ here.
PS - you don't need Android Auto on a true Android Head Unit. Just run the apps natively. AA requires a lot of resources and is meant for head units that can't run Android natively.

i have the latest version 7.3, now it has a separate application for the equalizer, but the audio output strength depends on the audio chip, I am a manufacturer and there is an option to manufacture with DSP (digital sound processor) this one does sound much louder than the original

Do you by any chance have a memory dump? I got the same spec head unit with software issues for cheap, thinking it would be simple to fix it, untill I trried to flash it with wrong firmware and totally forgot to remove the preloader. If you have a dump I would be very greatful.
