Connection loss when screen goes off - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

Just picked up an s7 edge today for my wife at a local Verizon corporate store. Salesman set it up, transferred her stuff over to it and I was on my way home after putting it in my shirt pocket.
On the way home I felt it getting hot and when I looked it had no signal. Took about 3 seconds for it to connect again, but once the screen goes off, all signal drops again.
Anyone else seeing this, or do I have a lemon?

That doesn't sound normal to me. I would have went right back.

That's where I'm going today. Called vzw support and it has happened to others as well.

Quick update: after support reprovisioned the sim and doing a factory reset, everything worked fine for 3 days. Service drop started again yesterday with a vengeance. The local store swapped out the sim and it did it immediately right in front of the rep, so they swapped out the phone. Hope it works or I'm done with Samsung.

No issues like that with my 7Edge. Good luck.

My display died!! [running eg22]

After running EG22 for 12hrs, my display as died!
I was talking on the phone and pulled the phone away to get on FB
and the screen was tinted green, dim, washed out and grainy.
I tapped the screen and saw all the lines in it.
I knew it was about to die, I made a FB post from it exclaiming that the
screen on my galaxy is about to poop out, once i slid the keyboard closed
it further got worse. grey out.
Took it to sprint and couldnt fix so new one ordered.
This is the only phone I have owned, that has not been abused lol, I never drop it.
No water damage, not even the battery. And the handset was activated 11.08.10
**** happens, good luck with a new one.
R.I.P you truly were EPIC
Scary but I have heard this happen a long time ago their screen went green but didn't get any worse
So I'm still running eg22 with no worries

I have a bunch of people complain to me that I dont answer my phone. I never actually get the call :\ I also get texts hours late at times. It's very rare, but it happens...
I am also due for a 2 year on August 1st. I'm waiting for the SGS2 though.
unfortunate we are twins viper lol.. we where..
I got my replacement in, and straight out the refurb box, the radio is wonked.
always roaming no matter what. the sprint employee programed it a couple times,
used the cellbrite to zap it twice, even wiped it out once. so my phone will not activate.
under status network, it says unknown.
so i get home and odin eg22 hoping it was fix the modem but nope, still dead but NOW atleast i have 3g roaming data. text come in with wild time stamps, like same person and time stamped many hours apart.
I have the choice to get epic, white evo, and nexus s 4g. i got another epic cause at least what i thought, the nexus was not an upgrade from the epic
model number of this one is D700.0.5 <- doest that mean something to you guys lol
I did my ##data# and NONE of any codes are present.
multimedia, brower, vocoders no nothing..

I believe most are D700.0.5
Btw, do you own a hayabusa? Amazing bike!

I believe D700.0.5 is a retail and 0.4 was a tester/dev version.
You know what you're describing is water damage, no?

i doubt his is water damage as it has happened to me as well just recently and Ive had no water damage.. I wasnt running eg22 but ec05 with visionkernal and the exact same thing he mention happened with mine.. Kind of weird but A new one is on the way.. Hopefully this doesnt happen again.. i hope its rare cause i asked sprint and the manufacturer and they said theyve never had a case of that happening randomly.

Epic speaker blown??

Was listening to some Pandora earlier through the speaker phone and everything sounded fine but just a while ago I noticed that it sounds blown now, restarted phone uninstalled a few apps thinking that was it but still no go... help! Lol should I just take it in? I have TEP, can I get a new phone? Possibly a nexus 4g? Or can they fix just the speakerphone? Suggestions? Can I fix myself? TIA!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I've 'blown' two speakers, both while the phone sat quiety overnight. Bring it to a store, they'll replace the speaker in store, or give you a refurb epic, or ship a refurb epic to your house with a return envelope for the broken one.
I too somehow blew a speaker while it was charging at night. Very odd. What's more odd is that when I had the speaker replaced it didn't even fix the issue. They even restored the factory software and that didn't help. Ended up replacing the phone.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Thanks for the replies! Never thought I could blow a speaker on a phone! Ok, I'm rooted and have a rom installed, should I just take it in or should I revert back to stock? Probably be fine considering they're just going to replace speaker? Should I keep my mem card?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I left my phone rooted and kept the rom on aswell. They don't care. But remember to do a nandroid backup as they may reload your phone with factory software. Leave the sd card in there.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
mine blew earlier this year as well. took it to best buy and they sent it off for repairs. they just wiped it back to stock.
I had to get the phone exchanged through TEP due to a blown speaker
Going to the Sprint store tomorrow to get it fixed or replaced, am I going to have to pay anything for getting it fixed or replaced? Hope not! I would love to somehow get a Nexus 4G instead lol, but I know thats just wishful thinking
This happened to me a couple Weeks ago the the guy said if we have the speaker we fix it if not we give you a new phone. They had the speaker and fixed it no charge. Took 20 minutes.
I have tep.

If you're paying the 7.99/m charg there will be no charge for any repairs unless there is water damage I believe. The speaker is free for sure.
Also I always flashed to stock ec05 via odin before going in. I know they punch the version/modem/etc into the computer. I've heard they don't care but it takes 5 minutes.
First Epic, speaker blown, Sprint store was out of speakers so they shipped me a replacement phone.
Second Epic, speaker blown, they had some speakers, replaced in store in about 30 minutes.
Both times phone was rooted and running SyndicateROM Frozen 1.2...they didn't give me any problem about it.
I have an extra speaker for sale that you can simply replace. Its OEM.
mine blew as well, i think these are common problems, which is why i bought an extra.

Cool, thanks for the offer but I took it to a Sprint store today. Took them like an hour to fix it but they got it done (no charge), now I'm noticing my power button doesn't "stick out" as much as normal, going to try opening it myself sometime and reseating it or see if there's anything I can do, maybe its just out of place, oh well minor annoyance. Thanks for the info/replies everyone!

Green Line on my Galaxy S4 :(

So something very weird happened. I charged my phone last night like I normally do and then went to sleep . The phone was fine when I woke up. About 15 minutes later when I grabbed my phone to take it for a run, I noticed there is a bright green line on the left side of my screen going top to bottom. Anyone know what this is? Is it some kind of screen defect? Will I have to replace the screen?
One of my problems is that I bought my S4 on Craigslist. The IMEI is clean and everything and i've been using it for about 3 months now. I'm just worried that I couldn't get the phone replaced since I'm not the original purchaser of the phone. I do have the phone # of the guy who I bought it from. Do you think i should offer him $50 to go to the AT&T store with me and replace it?
I'd get it replaced. You could go through Samsung but might be faster through at&t

I just talked to AT&T and they said I can take it to their warranty center so they can diagnose it and either fix/replace it. I think I will do this. They said as long as the IMEI is clean and it's still under warranty, I should be fine.

Garbled phone calls - Verizon says they can't fix

I had garbled voice issues so I took the phone back to Verizon today. They replaced my sim, no change, replaced the device, no change. They then called tech support and said that there was no fix available and I'd just have to live with it until Samsung acknowledged the problem and issued a patch.
I have the same thing, replaced with another phone... no help! I hope they fix it soon!!
I'm thinking its a hardware problem since not everyone has the issue. I'm thinking about calling Samsung to see what they say.
I doubt very seriously it's a hardware issue. I'm having the issue also though and it's annoying. It appears to be happening with the sprint version of the phone as well. They noticed it first since it came out there first. Funny but I don't think mine started until yesterday. (Tuesday) I received the phone Monday morning and did not notice this problem. I doubt it's fixed real soon but hope I'm wrong.
I had this same issue. Mine sounded like distortion or like the ear speaker was vibrating too much. I called Verizon and they sent me a new device now I'm crystal clear.

I'm on my third phone now...grrrr... still there...my note 2 was always perfect on calls..I hope they send an update soon!
I had one of these yesterday, but I thought it was because of the data closet I was working in.

This is my third device replacement for this very issue and it still isn't resolved. Has anyone tried to flash the Odin package to see if it seats the radio properly? This is my next move. Haven't been able to yet.

I reported this when I first got the device in the likes and dislikes thread and no one seemed to have the issue. Now I know it's not just me. It's terrible.
Sent from my SM-N900V
I think it is a device problem because I was reading about the same or similar problem in the Sprint Note 3 section.
I seen that also. I contacted Verizon tier 2 tech support and now have a case profile with Samsung. We'll see what happens.

I am having the same issue, replaced my phone twice so I will go back for a 3rd. If this does not work then I am going to just go with another phone. I think this is a hardware glitch more than software. Called samsung and they know nothing and want me to send the phone in for two weeks leave me high and dry no phone and will expire 14 day trial. I love the phablet but come on Samsung should be better than this!!! I have replaced sims bla bla bla. Purchased a note 3 on sprint and it worked better than the verizon version, but dropped sprint because they just sucked for coverage. BTW try streaming slacker with wifi you will notice the glitches in the radio as well. I am starting to wonder if this is do to the envelope chip in the phone that squeezes the signal to reduce battery as this is the first phone to use this technology.
THE BORG
Okay, started to happen more today - needs to be fixed

I have called multiple verizon stores, bestbuy's and samsung none of them said they had any issues or returns?? It was so bad a loud chirp came out and of handset and my ear was ringing after this. Keep the volume low ... The stores I called were 2 to 30 miles apart. Go to the verizon wireless website or samsung look at the reviews. There is a serious issue and could affect your hearing if volume is loud and it chips and pops in your ear.
I thought it was only me....lol. I already made arraingements to pick up a new 1 tomorrow.
Just got home and the replacement works PEFECTLY !!!!!
Mines having that issue just thought its crappy service in my high rise ill be swapping it as well

This is Happening to me also. Don't want to have to switch phones.

Sent mine for repair to Samsung. We'll see if they send me back a defect free one in a week or so.
What color is everyone having the issue with? I have a black one and i also am having the issue. My wife and dad both have a white and there calls are crystal clear.
Sent from my SM-N900V using xda app-developers app
Mine is the black one and I have had the issue on 2 phones.

Longer I have it the worse it gets!

So I've had this phone for about 3.5 months now. I can say I'm less than pleased with it.
1) Still having issues with GPS. I have an Otter Box Case & haven't tried the tightening screws trick yet.
2) When rooted incoming calls are messed up. What I did was go to the Verizon store and ordered a replacement, put my SIM card in my old RAZR HD MAXX & was having the same exact problem it would ring and when I picked it up no one was there and it would hang up. Replacement came but without a new SIM card so went to the store to get a new one and I sent the replacement device back. All was good with the new SIM card but after I rerooted was having the same exact problem. Unrooted it and it has been working good in that aspect. So I guess I'm stuck without root. That stinks!
I can say without a doubt this will be the last Samsung device I will buy. Looking at the new One M8 but undecided. I wish Moto had a quad core phone I would definitely buy a Dev version of that.
Sent from my SM-N900V using xda app-developers app
Well just for grins I took the case off no difference. From the time I opened the the GPS Stats & Toolbox app took about 15 seconds or so to get a lock. Accuracy is all over the place but seems to average 30-36 feet. Also tried tightening the screws most were only lose a 1/4 turn. Either was the GPS in my opinion stinks in this phone. Tried to up load a photo but app won't let me do it for some reason.
