Longer I have it the worse it gets! - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I've had this phone for about 3.5 months now. I can say I'm less than pleased with it.
1) Still having issues with GPS. I have an Otter Box Case & haven't tried the tightening screws trick yet.
2) When rooted incoming calls are messed up. What I did was go to the Verizon store and ordered a replacement, put my SIM card in my old RAZR HD MAXX & was having the same exact problem it would ring and when I picked it up no one was there and it would hang up. Replacement came but without a new SIM card so went to the store to get a new one and I sent the replacement device back. All was good with the new SIM card but after I rerooted was having the same exact problem. Unrooted it and it has been working good in that aspect. So I guess I'm stuck without root. That stinks!
I can say without a doubt this will be the last Samsung device I will buy. Looking at the new One M8 but undecided. I wish Moto had a quad core phone I would definitely buy a Dev version of that.

Well just for grins I took the case off no difference. From the time I opened the the GPS Stats & Toolbox app took about 15 seconds or so to get a lock. Accuracy is all over the place but seems to average 30-36 feet. Also tried tightening the screws most were only lose a 1/4 turn. Either was the GPS in my opinion stinks in this phone. Tried to up load a photo but app won't let me do it for some reason.

Random Rebooting may = New PHONE!!!

Alright so today I called Verizon and told them that my new Droid X has been randomly rebooting, I called the main support line at 18009220204. I told them that I looked online and that the only way to fix this issue was getting a new phone. The guy immediately told me that he was sending my out a new phone. While he was putting my order in, he told me that they have been having problems with several devices. Rooting does not cause your device to reboot. He said that the env touch had it so bad that it would reboot almost every 30 min.
You should not have to fight for this. Just call that number and tell them that your phone has been rebooting and you want a new phone, Make sure to tell them not a Refurbished one.... you bought it new you should get it new...
i had this problem a couple weeks ago and the rep said i was the first to report that problem, guess its starting to spread all over now... even my friend is reporting this problem. the sad part of all this, i work as a vz retail agent, not a dx in sight.
The Guy I spoke to said its been happening on about 5 to 6 devices over two years and they have no clue what it is so all they can do is send out a new phone and you send yours back...

I am on the phone right now and they are having double finding a NEW phone for me. But I told them that I don't want a return since I have only had the phone for more than two weeks.

So Verizon wanted me to give them a credit card and pay them for another phone until they got mine back. WTF. I told them where they could stuff it. Then magically they said they would just zero out the price and send me the phone. Then the tech said he would call me back in 15 minutes. Which he never dis. I had to call back and go through it all over again. Well in the end, I was told that I would be sent just the phone with no battery or battery cover. Was told it would not be a return over and over but it sounds like a return to me. I guess I will have to wait and see. What does everyone think?

I just got one too, and it is rebooting like MOFO.... gonna hop on the phone again and make ANOTHER call........
I called yesterday, and they "walked" me through a factory reset. It was tough not telling the lady I've done it a hundred times on my original droid lol. A reset and a freeze today and I called again, and now they're sending me another one. It is definitely a NEW device, as I'm within my 30 day window (seems like I should get a new one regardless, since I bought a new one, but oh well I'm good anyways). The tech guy also told me froyo was already rolling out, though only to 10 or 20 thousand at a time. I thought he was confusing this with the droid 1, so I checked, but the guy has a droid x and was sure. Said he checks his multiple times daily. This is far from concrete or official, but interesting nonetheless.

so if they take your phone and dont give you a battery or back or sd card do you have to buy them or do you keep yours before you send it in? because im having trouble with mine rebooting.
My phone, sadly, reboots too and I'm getting a battery replacement.
Just curious, when you get a replacement, do they ask for the old one back or not? Do they give you something to sent it in?
My original phone was rebooting, so I had them ship me a new one. They charged me for the new phone and said they would zero it when I sent back the other. Shipping took like 5 days, and the phone I got was in the box with charger, battery, sd card, power cable etc. This phone had a worse problem -- blown speaker. So I got them to send me ANOTHER (wasn't so easy when they saw I already got a replacement, and they hadn't even received my original phone in the mail yet). But I finally convinced them, and this time, they didn't charge me for it, but only made me sign something saying that if they didn't get my first two phones in the mail, I would have to pay for all 3. This time, I talked them into sending it to me on a Friday night, and by monday morning I received it. This one was different though in that it was just the phone (no battery, battery cover, cord, sd card, etc). As far as I could tell, it was BRAND NEW, not refurbished.
Leads me to think that when they restocked, they started sending just the phone as replacements. I don't think it means they're refurbished.
I wouldn't accept that. I don't want some one going into my box and taking crap out. I would tell them that you want a brand new never been opened box. Still taped up

I called in and had my phone checked. They DID send me a reconditioned one.
When I pointed out that I paid for a new phone, this is what they told me (after refusing to send me a new phone):
"Well when you paid for a new phone thats what you got, but what you needed replaced was your then used phone. So to replace your used phone, we sent you a used one..."
What can I do, any tips? I mean, this phone has no problems, but still, I feel like I got jipped. I paid for a new phone and got a BROKEN one, even if it was new. I feel that they should give me a new phone, but apparently they don't think so. I don't want to walk around with this phone thinking how someone might have dropped it and then returned it, and now I have it.
i would try and get it swapped out...or it coud be a battery issue
reconditioned
can anyone tell me whats wrong with a reconditioned phone if it works? i mean when something happens thats what you get.
Oops

Speaker replacement

Any leads on where to get a rear replacement speaker. Other than doing a refurb.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

the 6 dollar says out but the 7 says 5 in stock
i just did a refurb exchange but would have rather changed the speaker,,,,,,,,,hope someone gets one from them and reports good because the store says they are dropping like flies, really one guy has changed 3 out. my old one was perfect except for speaker so i am cringing to see some other failure on the new one.
I went into my local verizon wireless and they are giving me a brand new DInc today in exchange for my DInc that has a blown external speaker. The reason they are doing this is because they don't have any warranty replacement phones anywhere in the country for the DInc. They offered me a Droid Eris, and I laughed and told them that, that offer was a slap in the face. Luckily today, they are getting a shipment in of brand new DInc's.
I initially tried globaldirectparts also, but they were out of stock by the time I found the site. After doing some research I found that a Nokia 6300 uses a speaker of the same dimensions, and mounting style. I ordered 2 of them and installed them today and works perfectly! Site I ordered them from is uxsight.com. Would direct link but since I'm new member I can't link yet. Just search "Nokia 6300 speaker". Took 5 days for shipping.
http://www.uxsight.com/product/40622/buzzer-ringer-loud-speaker-repair-part-for-nokia-6300.html
this one?
That's the one.
Something worth noting: In the picture you can see a clear spacer piece on the top of the speaker. When I removed the old speaker that piece remained glued to the inside of the phone and I didn't notice it until I tried to snap the phone back together and it didn't seem to want to snap. Make sure that piece comes out with your old speaker or remove it from the inside case.
Thanks for the info. Global had the parts in stock for 2 data and sold out I did manage to get 5 ordered when I get them I will report back on quality.

my life is now complete. i have a pimped out phone and now i have my speaker working again. ordered two in case it happened again. however not to thrilled about the 8 dollar shipping. only on ebay with a final value fee matters does this tactic work. i own an iphone repair business and LOVE to show how much better my phone is then the iphone, its difficult when any sound that comes out reminds me of throwing a tin can in a aluminum garbage and rolling it down a hill. i guess i could have researched it a tad bit more. however to my credit. the problem happened it was about 3 days after i got the phone, and i think i even made a post on some site asking about it and was told to replace the entire device.

which speakers did you order? on the site it shows 2 models, the one with the 2 gold stripes, and the all silver backing...or it doesnt matter?
Its good to see that apparently every part on the Incredible is made from rare earth metals that can only be manufactured in small quantities...
Just an update for those who may change their own speaker. I ordered the one from e-bay for @1.49 apiecewith free shipping. It took about three weeks to receive the speakers( I ordered two). The quality of this particular speaker is below grade from factory. They sound okay, but definitely are not as good as the oem. Also they do not have the gold bar across the back of the device as pictured. Watched the video and it took all of three minutes to install. Not worh the hassle of Verizon.
Just a quick FYI. Blew my speaker last week and have been looking for a replacement online, while looking i got to thinking about the 2 old BB storms i have, sure enough, same speaker! i haven't opened up my old BB 8830 yet, but the speakers from the storm work great!

Replacing G2

I love the phone but the hinge is a tad loose and there's like a little space inbetween the screen and it's backing (kind or hard to explain). My real question is, am I going to have to bend over backwards to get this replaced? Just getting the phone required me to be on the phone with t mobile and best buy multiple times to fix billing issues.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Returing for a new one after the 14 days will prob be hard. I would just call 611 tell them your phone reboots all the time and you need a new one. They will prob give you a refurb though. Personally I would wait a month or so they may work the bugs out in later models figure out how to tighten the hinge etc.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I forgot to mention that this would be within the 14 day limit. I just need to give them my receipt and the phone right? Like any other item or is it different because it's a phone?
make sure ur firm when you return it because more than likely they will tell you that its the way it was designed or some b.s. of that source. dont go in there girly and meek cuz they will play u like i play my ps3. youve been warned, now go forth on your journey
Thank you very much, now I just gotta track down what was in the box.

I went to best buy and everyone they opened for me were even looser than mine. Whatever, it's not a huge deal. Thanks for the help anyway.

I returned mine today (so I could but the one at Costco for cheaper). I told him the phone reboots randomly. (It actually did do that twice, but it wasn't really bothering me) He immediately started trying to troubleshoot and I just said, "No. I want to return it."
Haha. Ya they always try and fail to change your state of mind you have when you enter the store. I would like to go get it for cheaper at costco but it was such a pain dealing with tmobile cause they effed up something on their end that required me to make multiple phone calls to remedy their skrew up. Arggg

[Q] "Certified Pre Owned"???

Hey guys, I bought the DX on the day it was released. about 4 months later I started noticing considerable dust under the screen, so I called it in and Verizon was quick to send me another one. Well the first replacement had a broken radio and wouldn't aquire a 3g signal, Verizon sent me another. That one had a broken shutter, a lot of the pictures taken with it would over expose. I stayed with that one for a couple of monthe til it got so bad that all pictures taken in the daylight would overexpose. so last week i got another sent too me. That replacement phone had a broken gps, it wouldn't aquire a signal strong enough to lock on, so verizon sent me another. This one will not recognize any videos on my sd card, it will not take any videos either, it also will not save any pictures, it will take them, then say that its saving the picture, but somehow it doesnt.
I am on phone number 5 and there is another coming tomorrow (cain't wait to see wht's wrong with this one)... Has onyone else had the same experiences with the certified phones? The company that's tasked to fix these is obviously not doing there job...
You got really unlucky back when I had my droid eris it froze up doing the ota to 2.1 and they gave me a preowned phone that worked just fine
Sent from my DROIDX
My first pre-owned had mad reboot issues and none of the troubleshooting methods worked. Got a replacement pre-owned and all is well. Good luck with your next one!
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
Verizon is notorious for this - supposedly these certified pre owned phones pass a "100 point inspection", yet somehow most of the phones have obvious problems such as the ones you outlined above. You might have some luck going into the store, explaining your situation, and demanding a brand new one instead of a used one.
a LOT of the "recertified" phones don't actually have anything wrong with them at all. Customers return them before their 30 days is up, or they get sent in for things like a broken battery or broken SD card. So sometimes these "recertified" phones are actually brand new in box, that just never came with an SDcard (or something along those lines).
I think you just got REALLY REALLY unlucky.
Maybe go to a verizon store and give it the "wardo5757 100 point inspection" before you take it home.
What a great thread to read right after I have a replacement shipped (will be here tomorrow). Stupid mini usb port is super loose and won't take a charge.
Who am I kidding though, Verizon replaced 3 of my TP2 device to the point I got a letter saying Assurion would no longer cover me. I have bad luck with phones but have never had a problem with a replacement outside of once or twice. Better luck next time!

[Q] Those who started an RMA process

Hey guys. Been playing with my nexus 10 all weekend and I love it. As with all expensive electronics I have been going over it top to bottom and have found some flaws with mine. Light bleeding being a major one, my back clicks when I grip it with any amount of force, and I have noticed I am getting random reboots occasionally but this may not be hardware from what u read.
Anyway how does Google handle their RMA process? Do you have to send them your current device and wait for them to come back in stock in order to get a new one? Or do they possibly ship you new one and you send them your old one back upon receipt?
Sent from my Nexus 10 using xda app-developers app
I just did one, It's an advance replacement but they do put a hold on a card for the full amount (399 or 499) so make sure you use a real credit card, not your debit.
There is a note in the email that they send that they can use another method, probably requiring you to return first.
They supply a UPS return label.
Sounds great! What igpf the one you receive is worse/the same as the one your replacing though? Haha...guess that's a question for them. Thanks!

In that case you will need to RMA the RMA! In th eprocess of getting an RMA with mine. I get a lot of hummg/whining noise from the left side of the screen (with buttons at top) so it is going back. Did not think light bleed was that bad on this one. Hopefully the replacement will be similar with regards to light bleed but without that noise.
I just started mine. Less than one week to ship date...hopefully it gets here so I have time to test the new one and RMA that one if need be....lol

I gave up with my wireless in the end and started an RMA process but haven't received a shipping label yet, phoned them up this morning and I was told that it will sent today, still nothing.
