The right G2 - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been debating which phone to get and decided to get the G2. Was also thinking of S4. I would get a current flagship but they are all just too big. The G2 specs seem good with decent small overall size. I'm on straight talk via AT&T. I would like to load cyanogenmod on it. What model G2 would be best. The D800 or 802 or doesn't matter? Does either model have better Dev support?
Thanks

d802 has more support for roms. in stock.. but d800 has a patch that makes you run any non d800 rom on it..
so best bet its d802 just make sure dont get a refurbished with ls980 motherboard and imei and phone says d802. as it isnt it what the motherboard says . they sell d802 and come up as d800 too.

Thanks. What about the Korean version, good support? Would be nice to have SD card slot.

But the battery is 2600mAh so its sd card for battery... although you can get separate battery. Also the rom support for the korean is not as great as the EU (D802) version.

Only a few roms are available.

Thanks. Sounds like 802 is the way to go.

D800 should have the best band support for ATT. For example, it has the band 17 and band 2. I am on att network, and my phone spends a considerable amount of time on band 2, followed by 17. D800 is also cheaper, with ebay vendors offering it for $140 bucks..

Yeah just noticed d800 is a bit cheaper. I'm usually on band 4 on. Att do the 800 should be good with that right? Hmmmmm I guess if the 800 also has almost equal Dev support no reason to spend more on the 802?

LG F320s vs D802

Man I hate it when companies release so many different model names for the same phone, just makes everything confusing.
Anyways I can buy the D802 or the F320s.
As far as I can tell the F320s has LTE-A which I don't care about since we don't have that here yet, and from a review I saw on youtube a removable back cover and battery. Does this mean it has an SD card slot as well?
As far as I can tell the D802 is the same as the At&T LG G2 or Verizon I am not sure, but unbranded.
Is there any downside to going with the one with removable battery over non-removable? I heard one performs better in terms of battery life is this true?
I'm pretty sure all Korean versions (F320X) have a removable battery (2610 mAh) and expandable storage. US versions have non-removable battery (3000 mAh) but no sd card slot.

F320S might not work with your Teleco(at&t and verizon) thus you will only be able to get 3g speed instead however the korean variant has an extra but smaller battery @2610mAH and a extra desktop charger with the removable micro sd card. If LTE which is a must then go with the D802

I'm not located in the US. I double checked the supported bands and it supports our lte frequency thankfully but I am kinda sad that the batter is smaller. I couldn't find the d802 anywhere online.

Does the D802 have a recovery?
Yeah the Korean version has a removable 2610 mAh battery and SD card. But the international version (everyone outside of Korea) has pretty much the same 3000 mah non removable battery and no SD. From what I've seen only big red (Verizon) felt the need to add their input to the design on their network. To answer the battery question the 3000 mAh would last longer because it's bigger but the removable battery is nice because if your phone dies you can just pop in a new battery but honestly with the 3000 mAh battery I can go about a day and a half with heavy use.

Anyways, my battery could last for a day if I never used my pc to do everything.. here in Canada, they have 4G/LTE but I can only use 3G data speed, that sucks!

My OTA wasn't working, so I used the zips in the General Development section, with TWRP. Worked great. Has there been another update since late Dec.?
I love having a removable battery and sd card, LTE was just icing on the cake.

LG G2 - Hardware Query - Display Unit F320s VS D802
Hi,
I have a LG G2 F320S the Korean Version with a semi working touch screen digitizer.
The phone was exposed to direct sunlight for a long time and I think that might have caused the issue.
Q - Does the Display Unit of LG G2 D802 (The Indian/International Version) fits the LG G2 F320s (The Korean LTE A version)?
Thanx in advance.
Cheers.

[Q] Difference between LG G2 d802 and docomo L-01F for UK user

Hi all,
looking to replace my reliable razr maxx for lg g2, but please what is difference between d802 and docomo L-01F, mainly could I install stock UK rom on docomo and all features are same? I live in Uk but definitely need 32 gb version, or even Korean could do if 4g is working in UK, not sure what difference will do smaller battery. Many thanks for any advice or help...
Already 42 views and no one know?, I was in believe more people use L-01F, or at least know difference, as I spend quite bit time searching on google, but still no luck, any help or advice thanks in advance.
Ok, 24 hours, 83 views, an still no one know different, there must be few people on xda who using L-01F, and they now what is same, like 32 gb space like on d802, and they must know what is little bit different, like maybe 3g or 4 g support, or something else, please still waiting, looking for advice or help, or at least link to website where I could full correct spec for L-01F. Many thanks.

My guess is you've seen this on ebay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-LG-G2...09927?pt=UK_Mobile_Phones&hash=item35d7ab8947
Spec is here, let google translate help you with the Kanji:
https://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/product/smart_phone/l01f/spec.html
Main differences are addition of the 1-seg TV tuner, slightly smaller battery and some 4G frequencies not used in Europe. It's also going to come with a lot of strange Japanese carrier bloatware.
Can it be bootloader unlocked and a EU rom loaded on there? IDK
Many thanks t-bon3, very useful, I wasn't aware about tv??? can't see benefit, smaller battery is not big issue, not sure if is replaceable or not, I was aware about different 4g , but not sure is they still have 4g which work fine in uk, you are spot on - about ebay, I failed managed to buy good one for reasonable price, still not sure about loading on to l-01f stock eu rom? but thanks again, after couple days, one person to managed to help, thank you.
Well looking at some info it seems the normal UK model the LG D802 has support for 5 LTE bands: 800/900/1800/2100/2600
In the UK we currently use 3 LTE bands: 800/1800/2600 800: O2/Vodafone/3, 1800: EE/3, 2600: EE (from wikipedia E&OE)
The Japanese model does 3 LTE bands 800/1500/2100
So as long as you don't want to use EE's 4G network you might be OK.
Also there is an AOSP ROM for the L-01F right here on XDA see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2686131
No sign of anyone putting the stock LG global ROM on the Japanese hardware yet though.
I was also looking on ebay for a 32GB G2, gave up in the end and picked up a nearly new 16GB for £200.
Thanks, I was just offered new LG G2 16gb D802 for £200, but I am really worry about limited space.., not sure how get around, as I have 16gb razr maxx and 32 gb card, and I have just under 1gb free space...

It's a definite no then, buddy! With the 16 gb model you'll only have 10gb storage available. You can get a microsd reader keyhanger but that's not practical. I think it's meenova.com?

I've seen LG G2 L-01F docomo 32 GB version at a nice price on some websites but I cannot find any relevant information about putting the stock LG G2 rom on the docomo version of G2.
Hi, I find new D802 with 32 gb for reasonable price, then I decided to buy this model, still believe L-01F is reasonable alternative.
How much have you payed for LG G2 L-01F docomo 32 GB ? Did you managed to replace the software on docomo with the normal LG G2? With the phone working properly afterwards of course
I found the lg g2 l-01f 32gb in 200 £
FYI, D802 Lollipop ROM already port to L-01F

Which Variant of G2 Should I Get

Hi XDA & LG G2 Users,
I am planning for a ling time to get LG G2, so finally I make up my mind to get one. I am currently using Samsung S3 LTE 2GB RAM version and I switching because of the battery timing of the stock battery...as its only 2100 MHZ I guess so..whereas the LG G2 have 3100 Mhz i think.. which is like yehhhhh Now I have one concern that here in my country almost every G2 variant is available in market i.e. Korean F series, AT&T D801, to Sprint & T-Mobile and every variant is working on all cellular operators in my country... but there is one model that is LG G2 D802 which is international model.. Please suggest me which model should I but, because if I will buy korean so on that variant we cant use edge here.. but any body here can please confirm that which model have better dev support here.. which model have better and more ROMs as currently there are very less ROMs for my S3 LTE whereas for SGS3 9300 model there are alot of ROMs and mods. So some times I feel quite sad that why my model have not much ROMs as compare to S3 with 1GB RAM,
So, I don't want to be sad once I purchase G2 ... so guys please suggest me, which variant is good like, hassle free from installing modems to get the network work.. like most of the Korean variants we have to flash separate patch after installing ROMs or there will be many many issues regarding signals... I hope that you'll understand my concern what I've asked for...
Looking forward for your replies and suggestions...

Should I buy i9500 or i9505 or others

My Galaxy s3 just died this morning So I'm thinking of buying a new phone. But I don't have too much budget on my hands. My needs are:
1) Good community support: I want to buy phone which has Stable CM12.1 release. Please let me know are there any major bugs on cm12.1 roms for i9500 ?
2) Good Camera: I believe s4 has one
3) Expandable Memory
4) Good battery backup
5) Good Display
Also the US cousin of i9500 i.e. i9505 is also available for little more, but if I go for that I would lose warranty and will also spend little more. So is it worth to go for i9505 ? I know it has 4g which i9500 doesn't have. But how good are the lollipop ROM stability on i9505, is it more stable ? Any other things which I'm missing out ?
Also I have option to go for oneplus one, but I don't know how good is the quality of phone when compared with Samsung ? I want to use it for atleast next 2-3 years
Avoid US models of S4 unless from T-Mobile (M919). The AT&T (I337) and Verizon (I545) models come with locked bootloaders which make customization difficult. The Verizon and Sprint (L720) models use CDMA instead of the global standard GSM, making them difficult to use outside of the US.
Canadian devices don't have the bootloader or CDMA issues, but if you live anywhere in Europe you will want the I9505. The LTE bands of US and Canadian devices are different, and you may get slow LTE, if any LTE at all. Whether Android 5.x.x runs well on it is a matter of opinion. Some will swear by it while others curse it. You'll have to try it out for yourself.
The I9500 has no LTE but also has little custom ROM support. I don't recommend it.
oh, I thought i9500 had good ROM support
Anyway will look for others then..thanks
Will go for LG G2 d800 then..
That's a good choice, but you were contemplating the OnePlus One as well. What made you select the G2 over the One?
G2 camera got ois ..only thing I miss in s4.. one plus one and yuphoria got official cm os .. greatly customizable

Is it a good idea to buy a G2 in 2016?

Hi guys. I was thinking of buying a G2 for myself. Do you think it is a good idea considering that it is 2016?! Is it a fast phone? To give you an idea of "fast", I checked my friends Nexus 5 and if the G2 is as quick as that, I am more than satisfied. Also, looks like Android 5.1 is not coming to G2 anymore, so in case I buy it, do you recommend upgrading to 5.0.2 or I just stick to 4.4.4?
Thanks everybody!

Thanks alecore! Although I am not familiar with the CloudyG2, but I assume it is a custom ROM. What about the original (stock?) ROM? What if I keep the original software? Do you have any idea how fast is the G2 with that one?
this question depends on how much you planning to spend on a new G2 ! still G2 is a great option but it will not support marshmallow or may be it won't even get the 5.1 . and Cloudy support is dead as developer is no longer supporting it . but I've heard lots of good things about the new CheloZTeam rom..

I noticed battery life was mediocre in 5.0.2 compared to 4.4.2, including stand-by time. but if you flash a stable aosp rom like aicp, mokee, you'll get amazing battery life compared to stock 5.0.2.

been on stock for 1 year and half ,KitKat was awesome ,and when lollipop came out it was even more awesome (because of new interface/customization/etc)and I had no problems at all ,no lag ,no restarts or something else ,meanwhile I decided to change the look a little more (got bored of lollipop and waiting for 5.1.1 or marshmallow it was endless) and I went to root the phone for cloudyg2 ,because I didn't wanted to change the phone ,there's no point ,unless you want to go for a phone from 2015 to.
EDIT : and about battery,i had 1 day and few hours with medium use (4-5 hours per day) and for a easy use (1-2h/3h per day) almost 3-4 days
Thanks appsmarsterx and alecore! I think I would stick to KitKat if I buy it. I am yet to decide Do you guys know if I can use the D801 model in europe? Here are the frequencies for it:
LG G2 D801:
2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900
3G: UMTS 1700/2100 (B4), UMTS 1900 (B2), UMTS2100 (B1)
4G: LTE 700 (B17), LTE 1700/2100 (B4), LTE 1900 (B2)
Surprisingly, I can buy D801 much cheaper than D802!
Think about some Chinese phones for that money, you can have meizu or xiaomi, they will be supported for some time. G2 is nice phone and it surpasses those phones in benchmarks but support is dead.

I thought about that. But my experience with some Lenovo phones was that they perform much lower than their spec on paper! I don't know why.
Official support may be at an end but we still have CM based ROMs including MM.

as far as I know most of the Europe, Asian mobile isps use lte band 3 (1800mhz).. if your mobile isp is also using lte band 3, you won't be able to use 4g with d801. (but 3g/hspa+ should work fine. )
make sure you contact your mobile isp and get informed about the lte frequently that they're using..

no i woudlnt suggest you to get this one in 2016, the camera quality has considerably improved now a days in smartphones and since this is a 2013 manufactured smartphones, its aged enough, id suggest a nexus 6 ull get a 32gb for a similar price and youll be sure to get updates for the next 2-3 years (official/unofficial ) whats more important is android version, as we can see, feature set will be reduced anyways with aosp roms on the g2, might as well get a nexus 6 if youve got the money get the 6p , totally worth it

You are right about the updates and also I am a fan of pure android which is available on Nexus devices, however, right now the Nexus 6 is out of my budget, and the 5 has a weaker battery and camera than the G2.
BTW guys, I was thinking f sticking to KitKat if I buy it. but now that I have seen some reviews, looks like lollipop is closer to what I want the G2 to be. especially changing the recent apps button from long pressing home button to a dedicated button. Is android 5 buggy on G2?
@alecore: You said you had 5 on your G2 for a while. Was it performing well? In terms of speed and especially battery life I mean.
Recently my G2's display shattered. The cost of new display was close to that of phone itself. So I ordered D801 from eBay and kept my broken G2 aside. I have been suggesting my friends to go with G2 if they are looking for a budget phone. In comparison to Moto G 3rd Gen, G2 is available for lesser cost. It's a worthy investment. I am using it on Kitkat and had no issues. Battery and camera can still challenge today's mid-range smartphones so I highly recommend going with G2.

Battery it depends, on kernel and settings, i get SOT just whats app a few pics taken. like the most ive got it its 7hours and 32 mins. agressavely debloated. stock rom. on the g4 4uix i get 7 hours or nearly seven hours of screen on time.
jus just need to managed and clear recents and cache. and itll be fine. but on kernel settings i have intellimn governor. work queue. realxed memory ram setting. those gives more battery but suffers performance. but am on with it.
