Is there anything to say against the AL10 version? - Mate 8 General

I can flash the international rom right?
What I didn't fully understand is if OTA updates are still available if I have an unlocked, rooted AL10 device with an international rom.
Not having OTA updates wouldn't be a big problem though.
Is there anything else to be concerned of or is it safe to go for the AL10?

I'm in UK using al10 no problems at all something's are better on Chinese version tbh

Yes you can. I know I have... Every device unlocked regardless if it is AL10 or L29 cannot get OTA updates. So the only downsize to AL10 is that if you keep it with chinese rom you will get chinese in some apps and that you will have to install manually google services , contactssyncadapter etc...

I am using the Kang VIP rom right now which come standard with GAPPS. It took a little setting up, but it's the best rom I've used so far. No freeze ups, force closure of apps, or anything.

If I had the choice (well I did lol) I'd get the AL-10.

For some reason the Chinese version always gets the first updates and a lot of ROMS are more compatible with less problems on the AL-10.

I have the Chinese version as stock, had 2 little issues
A) Power saving in smart saving mode is still very aggressive- it likes powering down apps - tasker and autovoice get switched off when I didn't use them. But that is fixed by setting apps as protected.
B) Bluetooth is a little unreliable since the last ota - I have smart security on the phone and an lg watch. I have to put in the code in odd occasions and I've lost sound on a Couple of headset phone calls.
But I would still recommend the phone

Ok guys, thanks for the info, I got the AL10 on Monday and I love it, had no problems yet

honor 6 plus new official lollipop beta rom

Hi this is my first post i thought it would be helpful to share link of the new lollipop beta rom as it was hard to find it for me and hop it could be used from developers to make more custom roms as i cant find for honor 6 plus
Link:https: //mega.nz/#!YA81wDKY!6-kM4hGE_6NlUkIhLn3xUcc6_P8CP6GmmBk8-O3geZA
just remove space after https:
The update is 1.05 GB in size and carries the version number B305 .
In the beta firmware is a OTA update.zip, ie it must be installed on the Local Update. For this purpose, it packs the update.zip in DLOAD folder on your external SD card and run the task manually.
To install prerequisite to the update, the firmware version B147, the OTA already been distributed a few days ago. An update from other versions is currently not possible. For all those who did not receive B147

Hello, Did anyone install it?
Did they remove features like "Double tap to Wake"?
Can someone post review?
on my phone, dt2w is gone at the moment, also a factory reset and a reflash didn't help. but on other h6+ dt2w is not gone. so, it seems huawei didn't remove it really. seems to be the risk of flashing a beta. you can just try it, but it could be away after a flash... or not... only god knows

Very very strange. Hopefully more people can report here
native VoIP SIP client
Honor has also removed the native VoIP SIP client for internet calls in the dialler app, which did not really work under Kitkat because of no sound.
The SIP client just isn't in Lollipop anymore I think, I observed the same with various phones/manufacturers.
OT: I'm currently using it in my 6+ with KK. What do you mean by "no sound"?

No sound means you hear nothing from the other party. They do not hear you, too. This happened only with the built in dialler app of emui. If you use 3rd party app like sipdroid, it works with audio.
What firmware were you on on KitKat with working VoIP?

I'm on the latest chinese version, I think, B243.
And using stock dialer. There is a certain delay between you talking and the other party hearing you, maybe a second or so, but it basically works well enough.

@NeidRider: Cannot find this B243 for the PE-TL10. Could you post a link for it?

good luck for your downgrade maybe you tell us how it worked
Do not think that the chinese FW B243 will work with my european model even if it would be on Kitkat. Tried that kind of experiment already with another H6+ which ended with a softbrick. My provider three.co.uk luckily exchanged it. I do not recommend flashing in between because of different partition structures.
Notice!
Beta FW for Lollipop B305 causes high battery drain.
Double Tap to Wake is gone after a facotory reset.
Connection to hisuite is not possible after upgrading
security lockscreen is activating automatically while doing a longer phone call. That´s awkward if you want to end call or activate loudspeaker during the call.
Huawai, there´s still very much work for you!!!
Is there any unofficial recovery available ?
why double posting?
no, nothing available. so far no root.
or do you know something we do not know?
i confirm missing option for dt2w (but still active), and no choice to add button to hide navbar

Availability of International Firmware (Maybe flashing over Chinese firmware)

So I've noticed that there are some international firmware available online:
http://aria-file.com/?cd=Huawei/M/Mate 8 - NXT
Unfortunately, seems to be all Iranian sites, and they all want money for the downloads.
Anyone see these files out in the wild somewhere? I'd like to try flashing the international firmware over my Chinese firmware.
hm not sure but it looks like im able to download the roms without having to pay. will try again from my laptop (on mobile now) and report back...

I managed to pay for it and get the latest firmware for both international models. I also successfully converted my Chinese model to an international model, in terms of software. I will write more in a separate post after figuring this out a little more.

Which is the last official OTA checking from update system for this model VKY-L09C432?
I have had only the OTA 123. But I see with ff also 125 and 130 but not from system update.
Thanks
Updates seem to be pushed by location. If youre outside of the intended c432 area, you might be waiting awhile. You could try VPN, or there is always funky Huawei

Which region / location are you in?
Just Unboxed my unbranded P10+ , and out of the box its on 120.. but no b130 OTA.. ... Im in UK, which is c432 region.. but as Goranock pointed out.. Huawei do OTA via location..
You could try downloadiong Huawei's HiSuite and trying an update
Im a little cautious about manually flashing Hauwei roms... I used to have a P9, but flashing a stock C432 Rom on a stock C432 device changed it to a C900.. which renders it useless to Stock OTAs and Android Pay.. according to some XDA modders.. the C900 on the P9 was a test / safe mode rom.. not a consumer rom,, so be careful .. although I cant say what the P10+ would do, but Im net messing with any Hauwei roms.. Ive even read of folk flashing a stock rom.. and bricking their P9.... just a word of caution
Hope UK gets it soon
I am a bit puzzled that the updates are not more of an issue here. I think it's really annoying that currently there seem to be no other ways for manually initiating the update than to use (the way too expensive) funkyhuawei or to unlock bootloader. Did anyone manage to successfully initiate an update by using a VPN and if so what location do I use to do so?

Yes, thank you, I know about that way though but the thing is I dont want to even have to unlock the bootloader in the first place, even if it ends up being locked/relocked afterwards. Personally that's just too much of a hassle just to install updates in my book. But since you said you are from Italy and you obviously already have received the update I'm gonna try and use an Italian VPN to try and see if I can at least upgrade to B123 then. Even though I feel that's a bit ridiculous now that not only B130 but also B133 seems to be out already. By the speed they are distributing their updates OTA I'm probably not gonna till B133 by autumn or something...
Edit: nope, tried several European countries, obviously VPN doesn't help...
Just wondering : what's the changelog for B133 ?
Pretty new to Huawei's firmware here... on the russian FF site I don't see it.

Chinese variant vs International Variant

Hey guys, I currently live in China and I have access to both the Chinese version of the One plus 5 and the International version of the phone. Since the Chinese version is a tad bit cheaper than the international version, I am considering the Chinese version. However, I don't know whether I will be able to have google assisstant or install google services manually at all if I purchase the Chinese version. This happened to my Chinese S7. Does anyone know if the Chinese variant is the same as the International variant?
Thanks
hi
i also have the chinese variant you can install google play store using google installer version 2 i tried it and seems to work properly.

Thanks, just one more question. Does google assistant work? Thanks
How do you tell the difference between these 2 models?
There is absolutely no hardware difference between the models. The Chinese model comes with HydrogenOS instead OxygenOS but you can easily change between both since they are both official updates from OnePlus.
OxygenOS is meant for the international market and hence has all the Google stuff pre-installed. No messing around necessary.
To the OP, download the latest OxygenOS from here. Place it in the root of your internal memory. Basically don't put the file in any folder.
Go to Settings > System updates, press the gear icon and select Local upgrade. Choose the file, the phone will boot into recovery and everything is done.
Source: I bought mine in China and am currently running OxygenOS with root.

No. Just do exactly what he said. Download the file, put on phones memory (not in any folder). Go to settings, update, and choose the file. Done.
In fact, your memory is probably still intact after that. It's encourage you then do a factory reset.

Do people not believe us when we say there are no difference, you can flash OOS easily, and updates work fine?! I have a Chinese version running OOS on T-Mobile! All stcok, no unlocked bootloader, etc. OTA works fine. OnePlus even said I could get warranty coverage here in the US.

Yes he's right, the only phones that require the carrier to push the ota's are devices that are carrier locked which happens a lot in the US, idk about China but here in The Netherlands pretty much every phone is unlocked no matter how you buy it with a few exceptions. OnePlus phones are always unlocked and the only official carrier that sells it is O2 in the UK which I believe is still the same model, either way you'll still recieve the ota's.

I always use the OTA app to update my phone, it always takes a bit of time for the full zip update to appear on OnePlus or XDA. The OTA app detects root and when it does it will tell you it's gonna download the full zip in the .OTA folder. Then so just flash it via twrp alongside magisk and some other mods.
if it's possible to instale oxygenOS and there is no hardware difference between the two versions then it's ok

No it doesn't invalidate the warranty because those updates are the official ones. And because of that, it does not need to be rooted to work. I went 12 rounds with that app and finally figured it out so if you need any help with it, I would be happy to help you save some time.

Use HWOTA or FunkyHuawei to get updates. Even Firmware Finder will allow you get C432B162.
Thanks all for the advice, I used Firmware Finder and now have my P10 Plus running B162.
One upside of the upgrade is that I can now use the full 220mbps available from my Virgin Hub instead of the 30mbps I was limited to before.
Seems I've run into a little trouble updating to the latest firmware version on Firmware Finder. B175 is available but when I try to install it shows as unauthorised. I've tried this with both the proxy enabled throughout the upgrade and disabled after the initial setup. Any ideas?

This happens a lot with Firmware Finder, it's not always possible to install f/w even though it's available. In this instance your two options are HWOTA method (search these forums) or Funky Huawei's pay service.
The only improvement in B175 is Android Security Patch dated 5th October.

If you have September Security Patch then I wouldn't worry too much, I think that's the one that fixed the BlueBorne vulnerability...
HWOTA requires backing up, unlocking bootlader (which wipes device), updating then restoring. That's too much bother for me so I chose to pay for the upgrade. Each to their own. Firmware Finder is great but it requires Huawei authorising the update, which they don't always do.

I have this problem with b175, all the others work.
I contacted firmware finder and they couldn't really understand English. If you notice though on ff there is a few other updates that are not compatible too listed above,to be fair I'm not sure b175 is even out on the p10 plus yet? It's only mentioned for the p10 when you Google search but it's annoying me now because I want another update just to verify that my phone can be still kept up to date via the app
hi all,
I am really struggling with this. My P10+ is on B120 and I cannot for the life of me upgrade it. I tried Firmware finder in proxy mode or download mode. I tried downloading it on the pc and copy to the sd card , still no luck.
I seem to be getting, this firmware is not verified or that the download isn't verified. i also now have to press the power button whenever i restart the phone. is there any solution to this ?

I did make an attempt but it didn't work for me. I'm not that confident going through the process either. Was kinda hoping there'd be an OTA waiting for me. Huawei Twitter support says B162 is the latest authorised release from them but can't seem to tell me much else.
Anyone resolve this issue yet? I will get in touch with huawei and ask if needed. im b120 still running march 2017 update. it a shame. i bought from amazon uk
Good news guys! I figured out the way to download the software updates!
