Samsung gear 2 wil work on s7 edge? Not the gear S2 - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Does anyone know if gear 2 will work in the s7 edge? I use it everyday with my s5 i preordered the s7 edge i hope it will work. Not the gear s2. The old gear2

Haven't heard anything official. However, I would assume it will work. Can't imagine Samsung not making their own smart watch that's only a couple years old not work with their new phone.

It shows gear manager and I know that I have the gear 2 and have always gotten new updates for the new watches... Therefore I can conclude that all phones run the same gear manager and if my s5 runs my gear 2 then my s7 edge will run my gear 2.

Yeah i hope so too and you both are right i dont see anything that the gear 2 will not work

I expect that as far back as the Gear 2 would at least be compatible. I have the Gear 2 Neo and the Gear S2.

I can confirm that gear 2 is working i am using it now ? can close this thread

+1 - I had some issues getting it to pair at first but I'm fairly certain it was because my old S5 was still paired to it.

Yuuuup had to reset itt

All but S voice on gear 2 neo works with s7
S voice doesn't work when using gear 2 neo with s7 edge.
It gives an error saying svoiceproviderss doesn't have permission.
Anyone else facing this issue? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

I found this too and have just managed to get it working so try this... firstly shut down the Gear app on your phone and then go to Settings > Applications > Application Manager and scroll down looking for everything that has the orange Gear icon. Press on each one and uninstall them - you should be able to get rid of several modules except the main 'Samsung Gear' app so ignore that one. Once you've done that, go to the launcher where all your apps are on the main screen and restart the Gear app - press on your already paired Neo and the software will connect with it, reset it and then go and download all of its modules again. Then go into the settings in the Gear app on the phone and set the 'double pressing home key' option to S Voice. Give it a few seconds then double press the button on the watch again - hopefully that'll have sorted it for you.

Gear 2 Neo
:good::good: The post about removing all Gear modules and restarting Gear Manager worked for my Neo and Samsung Galaxy S7 (not edge).

Samsung Gear VR

So did any one get the VR? Just want to see if it works with the edge. I know there had been some back and forth as to whether or not it would work. I ordered one and should be here today. Wasn't sure if I should expect it tow work or not.

Someone mentioned at the Gear VR forum that the Edge does not fit well inside the VR... If it is ever supported it might need some sort of adapter.
Please let us know how it goes...I also want to buy the vr.

Get a Google Cardboard, you will see more support for it than samsung VR initially. If you think you really like VR just invest that 200 towards a real headset like the oculus for the full effect.

You can probably sell it for more than what you paid for right now. Also Gear VR even with the phone is 10000x better than google glasses ridiculous price.
not sure if this helps but this article says the note edge 'fits"
http://gizmodo.com/samsung-gear-vr-review-hell-yes-i-will-strap-this-phon-1670312012
It's worth noting here that while Samsung has pointedly said that you're not supposed to try and fit the Galaxy Note Edge in here, you totally can. I mean, it doesn't "fit" in the conventional sense, but I've crammed it in a few times without breaking anything (yet). The problem is that the Note Edge doesn't launch the Oculus app when you plug it in. I'm sure there's probably some workaround but it probably involves black magic. Or at least root access.

it "fits" but there is also a software "app" that connects the Note4 to the VR whereas the edge does not
I ordered the VR... ETA: 1 week - Germany
When it comes I will either buy the damn Note4 or the Edge
Hope the app can be ported
Or someone finds a new way

WatchOn does not work anymore? Did they remove the infra red port on the S7????

Hi
I was using WatchOn a lot to remote control several devices from which my Samsung TVs. Bur it does not work on the brand new S7 Edge... am I doing something wrong or did Samsung chose to step back one more time by removing another feature???
Thx
Phil
@fastmike The S7 and S7E don't have a infrared port anymore.
They got rid of it.

Thanks Haarlem! That is too bad... each time Samsung is issuing a 'new' model they keep remove things... S5 was the best with everything including USB3. Why going backward?
Thanks again

Apparently not many people were using it so they removed it. Not sure why they still add the heart rate manitor, who uses that?
I take IR over heart rate and uv sensor anytime! Removing IR was a dumb move.
agreed..i used the IR on my S5 ALOT!

questions from a Note 7 refugee

I just exchanged my incendiary AT&T Note 7 for an S7 Edge, which is also a decent phone. I'm wondering if there's a way (without rooting) to reproduce any of the following software features that I got used to on the Note 7:
Secure Folder (instead of Private Mode)
New organization/presentation of the phone's Settings
Optimization page in Settings
Custom image for always-on display
Any advice appreciated.
As of right now none of those options are available. From what I've read all those options will be available on the Nougat update. Welcome to the edge bud.

you can change the aod pic but root and xposed is required. the other options no unless there is an xposed module for them and i can not say if there is or not as im no longer rooted. welcome to the edge family btw and hope the phone treats you well, battery is awesome for me stock and all. (custom roms one day)
please when they will have the new software s7 galaxy sm-g935A
From what I have noticed they typically are releases between the 23rd and 28th of the month.

I also came from Note 7.
There is a new AOD version released today for S7 Edge and one of the changes includes the ability to set custom image.
Wish there was a way to do the sPen gif creation on the S7 Edge. Its one of the main feature I miss from the Note 7. Anyone know if there is a way to do this on the S7 Edge.

I've only had the S7 Edge for 2 days (although owned one when they first came out - it was the S7 Edge that pulled me away from the iPhone) and I am SO MISSING my Note 7. That was the best phone ever. That S-Pen GIF feature was great. I want so many of those S-Pen features which is why I went for another Note. Now we probably have to wait another year for a Note 8. I think Samsung might lose a lot of money by not getting new customers but I think the old Samsung customers (like us) will continue to purchase their products.

Not even close to the same. On the note there was a screen capture feature that recorded a 15 second gif inside of a selected area. One of the best features on the phone.

I am missing this feature a lot so today I ordered a Samsung Galaxy Tab A with S Pen. Has the same S Pen software on it as the N7. On sale right now too. $100.00 off so it's $249.99 US. + free shipping.

Hope this holds me over until the Note 8 comes out. Missing the N7 so much. Nothing compares for me.

Missing Samsung Gear app

I can't seem to find the app to connect my S3 Frontier to my 6t. It says the Gear app isn't compatible with my phone. Anyone have similar issue and/or fix?
Thanks.

Could it be the Galaxy Wearable app? Looks like they renamed it maybe? It shows Galaxy Wearable (Samsung Gear).

If I root the phone, yes.
I don't know why it just dawned on me. I have an unlocked bootloader but not rooted, I see that root is the issue but I wouldn't think an unlocked bootloader would be.

On the Pixel 2 XL, Play store will be not certified if you unlock the bootloader.. custom kernels fixed the issue.. probably same for OP 6T as well...did you flashing custom kernels on this?
Hum. I'm rooted with magisk and have no issues using my S3 watch...
I have full scanning turned off on the play protect screen

Don't be a jerk. I understand this issue may be frustrating you but don't allow that frustration to cause you to be rude to those trying to help you. I've actually got both my Samsung Wireless Ear Buds and my Frontier watch synced and connected to my 6T. During the process I was actually led to the pages to install what I needed. I'm between classes right now. Let me get home later this afternoon and walk you through it. I can PM you or just post it here in case anyone else needs to see the info.
