-Root it, triangle away, unroot it, might just work.
-If the method above didn't work, it's probably Knox messing with u and u wouldn't be able to flash any anything even if u wanted to.
-For the Note 3 I would say yes.

Just download a full firmware and flash it through odin. Simple and u don't need headache.
for upgrade cross firmware (different base), advisable to do fullwipe. In upgrade to KK, full wipe will lessen ur headache about some FC/some apps not working/huge battery drain.
ur choice to make.
Yes update worth it. My battery can last almost 2 days with 3-4 hrs screen on.

EDIT: flashed a new rom... but failed to flash a firmware
Flashing a stock firmware will not trip knox and use this app from here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo to get device information

what's tour android version??? If already with 4.4 no BL problem you can root it directly with cf auto root or else
if not with 4.4 or you stay with 4.3 and root but many custom roms are not allowed to flash (4.4) or you update with odin and root and can install all 4.4 custom roms

Take a 4.4.2 package unpack it and remove bootloaders, then repack and test.
You can opposedly to SGY firmwares (s5360) open S4 firmwares with Winrar / 7-Zip.

User who say that are user who don't even care about their country code nor their CSC
If your CSC is XEF then you have to flash a non-knox 4.4.2 XEF ROM, if wifi/IMEI is null it's most likely a MODEM mismatch.
Just reflash the modem by using Odin3's CP section :good:
EDIT :
Or you may just try Mobile Odin Pro, for a buck it downgrades the phone a simple way.

I first rooted and installed SUPERSU on my device with lollipop 5.0.1 to get x mode games. Since xmodgames doesn't support lollipop currently I decided to downgrade my Samsung GT-I9500 from lollipop 5.0.1 to Kit Kat via ODIN after doing a complete wipe via philz_touch_6.12.8-i9500.tar but after the install My mobile had null imei. I was able to successfully root the device and install SUPERSU and Xmodgames also worked fine but without any mobile network due to NULL Imei.
I tried all forums some had software to remove the null state and some had service code etc, but nothing worked and a techie told me that this can now be restored only through some box available only with professionals and asked me a very high fee almost 30% cost of the device.
I finally figured it out and restored my phone back to lollipop 5.0.1 after doing a wipe by PHILZ (without root selected) and my phone was back to its original state.
Hope this helps.

Go here, find the proper OS and country for your device >> http://samsung-firmware.org/model/SM-G530H/page/1
Many pages, 11+..then use Odin..I personally havent reverted to KK from LP..but I have reverted to an earlier version of 5.1.1..because I'm new to Samsung..and my Grand Prime, from box with 5.1.1
Dont know if you can revert to 4.4.4
The reason being, is a possible bootloader version change..in my past experiance with Moto devices, once the bootloader version changes, reverting cannot be done..
Research this..which may be your flash failure cause..or maybe a bad download or incorrect OS for your device..the country code MUST match..
sent by my: SM-531M-57 Grand Prime (or) my: SM-N910C Note 4 (Lollipop 5.1.1)
Thanks for your response, but still it didn't work. I did as you suggested; I downloaded
the correct firmware for my device, flashed it via Odin but failed. On device it shows "SW REV CHECK FAIL : (aboot) Fused 2 Binary 1" error
I recently updated to lollipop 5.0.2 via Odin, my phone model SM-G530H baseband G530HXXU2BOH5.
I think the reason I can't downgrade to Kitkat 4.4.4 is because of bootloader update.
I want to downgrade to Kitkat because most of the apps which used to work on Kitkat don't work on lollipop anymore, and also its very slow.
if anyone out there could help downgrade to Kitkat, plz do it. I would greatly appreciate it.
I'm sorry it didnt work for you..
Make sure you are flashing the correct OS for your device..I cant say for sure, new to Samsung..but probably a bootloader update issue..Maybe research which bootloader version with KK and LP..I think you may find your revert issue..I hope I'm wrong..please someone correct me if I'm wrong..

since no one can tell me how to downgrade to Kitkat, it feels like I 'm stuck on lollipop forever. I 'm desperate to go back to Kitkat ; kindly let me know if you come up with something.
regards

Go down this list..do you see 4.4.4 anywhere.?
You are asking for something that doesnt exist..and also..bootloader will PROBABLY be an issue..Dont think you realize what you are asking for..
If you MUST have 4.4.4 then sale your device and purchase a device on 4.4.4..SOLUTION..
Note Edge bootloop: phone screen goes black after Samsung logo, what are my options?
i have a galaxy note edge, but couple of days back when i unpluged my phone from the charger and tried to turn it on it would not boot up properly;even if it did it would turn itself off at different times. so i had decided to flash stock rom, thinking this could solve the problem. i downloaded stock rom from sammobile, flash it via odin, and it was successful;but when the phone rebooted with rebooting recovery on the top left of the screen then the screen went black. to turn the the device on again i have to pull the battery out and put back in after 10-15 seconds. and now whenever i try to turn the device on, it boots up with 'rebooting to recovery' on the top left of the screen but goes black as soon as the samsung logo shows up. i don't know what's causing this problem.
if anyone out there could help me get out of this problem,i would greatly appreciate it
thanks in advanced
Wanted to ask if it is safe to flash build number LMY48B.G531HXXU0AOK2 with build date of Nov 2015 over the build LMY48B.G531HXXU0APC2 with build date in March 2016.
Tl;dr is it safe to flash an older lollipop build over a new one using odin

Downgrading Samsung Galaxy J5 (Marshmallow to Lollipop)

Ok guys, This has not been just a problem of mine but also every Galaxy J5 users. The marshmallow update has quite a good UI and other stuffs. But in long term use I found this really annoying. Unfortunately, there isn't any way to downgrade as far as I know. It only happened for J500H and there is a warning thread, but not all people are aware of that...
