[Q] Huawei P8 - how to store offline maps (Here Maps) in my MicroSD? - Huawei P8 Questions & Answers

Hi,
As title says, I have an issue with Here Maps. I set SD card as my default phone memory and apps are installing there with no issues. Except one. I can deal with the fact that the app itself installs in the phone memory but it's storing maps there too. In the app settings I don't have an option of MicroSD card, my options are Memory or "Emulated". When I choose the "emulated" it's still saving all the data in phone's memory. It's like my SD card was invisible. Any ideas how to change it? Thanks.

If someone's having the same problem, here's the solution I got from HERE:
1. Uninstall the app.
2. Go to a file manager.
3. Set “Show hidden files” to ON (i.e. so that hidden files are shown).
4. On both SD Card and Internal memory find the folder named .here-maps and remove/delete it.
5. On both SD Card and Internal memory check if there is still com.here.app.maps folder present (/Android/data/com.here.app.maps/)
6. If it is present, remove/delete it on both SD Card and Internal memory
7. Restart the phone
8. Install the app again
Surprisingly it still shows either Memory or "Emulated" as storage options. More - when I want to download some maps there's a status bar showing how much memory I have, it's called "internal" but it shows that there's 56,71 GB left. That's SD card for sure and that's where maps are stored. So it works, it just may be slightly confusing because it says "internal" but it stores everything on MicroSD.

Storage Card / Storage Card 2 Problem

Hello there
Ever since I changed the storage of my emails to the storage card, I have the problem that the device creates a folder called "Storage Card" when I perform a soft reset. The actual storage card is then mounted as "Storage Card 2". This has the effect that not only my email bodies are not saved to the storage card, but also that software installed on the card can't be run. I have to start Resco Explorer, remove the storage card, delete the "Storage Card" folder and insert the storage card.
It seems that the storage card driver isn't loaded until later, when the system already created \Storage Card\Messaging\... folder structure.
Is there any way to have the sd card driver load earlier, or any other solution? thx.
No solution?
I have had the same problem. I have only seem the problem from time to time, havent figured out what triggered it..
Try not to set the PIE temp. file to storage card and email attachment to storage card. Because during reboot the system can't see the SD yet, so it will create a storage card from existing rom, and this will cause your subsequently detected SD to be mounted as storage card2.

Yes, I realize that this is the problem. I'm therefore looking for a solution to either prevent Outlook/ActiveSync from creating those folders, or else tell the system to mount the storage card a bit earlier...

setting all the temp/cache dirs for built-in MS Win apps (like Word and PIE) on a storage card is a bad idea, from my experience, as the Universal unmounts the SD cards on power down. this causes many of the built-in Win apps to crash when powered back on, with PIE bringing down your entire phone if it can't find the cache dirs. I don't know about you, but I like my Universal to behave more like a stable phone, and not a Win PC. Installing code on the card also seems to be a bad idea, as this problem also causes apps to crash. setting cache and other volatile information to the storage card for 3rd party apps seems to be ok so far. Maybe because they're not privelaged to being integrated with the OS like built-in Win apps.

Installing TomTom to mini SD card

Hello community,
Have anyone experienced problems installing the TomTom Navigator 6 to the mini SD card?
The option to install the application to internal memory or storage card is shown when installing via usb but then fails to install on the storage card.
There are already installed applications on the mini SD card and additional free space.
The application installs on the internal memory without problems but no free space (this was confirmed by removing applications from the internal memory).
Update: I've installed the application on the internal memory and move the folder and its contents manually to the storage card. I launch the app directly from the card and it worked. However, I haven’t yet tested it for a signal or synchronization with TomTom home, but the app starts. Updated the program shortcut link to point to the new directory and deleted the old (internal memory).
I had a look at the setup xml before stored in the .cab file and found that it explicitly installs to the internal memory. There weren't any use of variables for choice for the installation directory.
Did the developers intentionally leave that out? Or was it an oversight?
What version of TomTom are you talking about? My version (TomTom 6) installs fine onto the memory card. I am installing it from a cab file on the memory card.

[Q] sd card as default memory

hi guys i have recently bought a 64gb sd card for my gt-i9505. what can i do to make the sd card my external source of storage, so that way everything such as music, pics, apps etc will save to the card by default instead of the internal storage? my phone is also rooted if that helps.
xposed has a module that forces camera app to store everything on external sd.
In the most browsers you can set your download path (set it to /sdcard1/downloads)
If you have the music/video/picture files, just move them to your sd card.
But for Images Dude, i9505 by default stores them to external SD card. But if you see they are going to Internal storage then you can define the path in setting of camera app. for other apps there are also options to save the files on internal storage or external.

How to set SD card as default storage?

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I cannot figure out how to make the external SD card the default storage. Be it for downloads or data from apps, it's all saved on the internal one and I can't see a way to change it. Most answers I found on google are suggesting to change it in the settings (storage --> make SD card primary storage, which is not available) or in the aosp browser (not available either).
Any suggestions? Thanks!
Three screen shots to see below.
1. I don't think there is a "global" setting to make everything go to the SD card - some things just won't work from there.
2. You can move all your videos, pictures to the SD card - see screen shot.
3. The camera app has a setting for SD card as default - just search my posts as I already have posted screen shot of this.
4. Some individual apps can be moved to SD card, there is two places under settings /apps to see. a) individual app page whether it can be moved and b) the tab were it shows all the apps that are on the SD card. I haven't tried it but I think from this tab you can also select multiple apps to move to SD card at the same time. I would guess that ones that cannot be moved would be grayed out. Also keep in mind that sometimes apps that can be moved to SD card don't work properly afterwards. Most widgets fall into this category.
I hope this helps you.
there are a billion apps that will move the programs to your sd card link2sd is one example. Or you can wait till we get Android M
One cuestion about sd-card: google play music, cm music, apollo, don't read my mp3 files placed in sd-card, vlc player it reads, have: unlocked bootloader, squid kernel, stock rom, root, xposed, gravity box, no device check. Any idea?
To Makr external sd as defult u need to root your phone then install xposed frame work after that just install the modupe name Xinternal and in xposed tick mark on xinternal now your external sd is default
Who would want everything on extSD? Why not use your fast internal storage if you can? Music, Photos and videos on SD should be sufficient.

map app data installs to internal memory instead of removable SD

On my XT1601 with stock Android 7.1.1, I added a 64Gb SD card as removable storage. I do not want to format my SD card as internal storage.
I installed a couple of map apps such as 'Here We Go' and another one.
In both apps, I was able to select my 64Gb SD as the map storage location.
Then, I have powered-off and restarted the phone.
Then, I downloaded the maps for both apps. For both apps, the maps downloaded to internal storage instead of removable SD.
Why is that?
BTW, The map apps themselves installed to internal memory.
