map app data installs to internal memory instead of removable SD - Moto G4 Play Questions & Answers

On my XT1601 with stock Android 7.1.1, I added a 64Gb SD card as removable storage. I do not want to format my SD card as internal storage.
I installed a couple of map apps such as 'Here We Go' and another one.
In both apps, I was able to select my 64Gb SD as the map storage location.
Then, I have powered-off and restarted the phone.
Then, I downloaded the maps for both apps. For both apps, the maps downloaded to internal storage instead of removable SD.
Why is that?
BTW, The map apps themselves installed to internal memory.

Need help with storage issues on Stock AT&T version

I am on the newest update (yeah, stupid me, whatever). I moved some apps to the SD card, and downloaded some big games (GTA 3, GTA Vice City) but noticed that after the download, there was significantly less space on the internal storage but barely any of the storage space on the SD card went down. It says that the SD card data and the SD card app has >1 GB there for each of the applications, but the total (along with other apps) in the actual SD card is something around 800mb, and my storage space in my internal storage has decreased by a few gigabytes.
Is this issue because android is allocating most of it to the internal storage folder /sdcard instead of the external card?
Also, is there any way to get Google Play Music to download songs to the SD card instead of internal storage?

[Q] Apps on SD card still use internal storage

When I move apps to my SD card they still continue to use space (albeit less) on my internal storage. Several appear to keep data in the internal storage.
For example, I use the link2sdl app. Even when "moved" to the SD card, it still uses 7.3MB of internal storage for the application (it was 24.6MB before I moved it to the SD card), and 18.7 MB for Data. Is there any way to move an app COMPLETELY onto the SD card?

Can't move apps to SD

Hi.
I recently installed Slim-5.1.1.build.2.2-csolanol-20151210 on my Amazon Fire 5th gen.
It's working well, except for one thing: i can't move apps to the SD card external storage.
I know that internal storage space is necessary, to keep the tablet working fine, but i installed an app that occupies nearly 4gb (with data). I erased the app's data to lower it to <1gb but then i cannot move it to the 16gb SD.
Any help on how to workaround it?
i updated to 2.3, and still have the problem with moving apps to the external SD card.
i'm still given the "can't move to SD card, there's not enough storage space"....... with 14gb of available space

How to extend internal storage

Hello everyone, I would like to extend my internal storage. I am using Android M on my XT1562.
I tried to use my SD card has an internal storage but unfortunately it stops formatting at 30%. After a reboot the SD card is shown as internal storage but if I open ES file explorer for example the storage capacity is still 10gb (which is the capacity of the internal storage). So I will have to use it as an external storage as before.
Is there any option to change for example the download folder/the install folder for new apps to the external SD card? Or do I need to root the phone?
Another question is if I could use my SD card as internal storage how about transferring files to my PC? How does that work?

Once you format your SD card as internal storage, it can not be seen in any file manager. Also it cannot be seen on pc. Although you can move data through settings which shows your internal and SD card storage but you can only view it through by going to settings.
You cannot the change the location of apps to be installed in Android 6.0

Once you have set the SD card to internal any apps that you install that could previously be moved to the SD card will install to the SD card, any apps that could not be previously install to the SD card will install on the internal memory.

Installing apps direct to the SD card.

I'm on a Redmi 3S with 16 GB internal storage which runs on unofficial version of LineageOS by Fedosis. I was not using an SD card, hence everything was in the internal memory itself.
As the app and app data is getting huge, I wanted to move this to an external storage. So I got a 32 gig SD card. While setting up the card, I used the option "as internal memory". After installation I could not access my phone memory. And when I rebooted to recovery via TWRP, I cannot see this SD card. Only thing I could see was phone memory. So it's kind of a complication to flash apps.
So I again formatted the SD card and set it up "as portable memory". Now I can access the phone memory normally and in TWRP also. But when I try to move the apps, [eg: Hearthstone, Flamingo, etc] it says, it's not possible.
So, how should I set up my new SD card, so that I can move the existing apps into it and also install new apps to the same SD card?
format as internal storage and then go to appsettings and manually move them to external memory. but this isnt supported by all apps.
to flash something with twrp than, you have to put the file you want to flash into /data/media/0/TWRP
