Enable Double Tap to Wake - Mate 8 General

I figured out how to enable Double Tap to Wake. This is confirmed working on the Chinese AL10 model but may also work on other variants as well.
Requirements:
-Be Rooted
1) Go into system/build.prop and open it in your favorite text editor. Find the line that says ro.config.hw_easywakeup=false and change the false to true then save your changes.
2) Go to system/emui/base/xml and open up the hw_easywakeupmotion_config.xml in your favorite text editor. Find the line that says <EasyWakeupMotion name="Double_Touch" support="1" value="0" flag="0" keycode="131" /> and change the value=0 to value=1 then save your changes.
3) Restart your phone
4) Go into Settings/Smart Assistance/Motion Control and at the bottom you will now see Double Touch. Turn it on.
5) Restart your phone and you will have Double Tap to Wake enabled and working.

Will this also work for double tap to sleep? I would root my Mate 8 only for this feature...

didn't work on AL29.

in data/cust if you have the hw_easywakeupmotion_config.xml file in there, change it in there as well.

Super, thanks it works

Is there a way to unlock Functions of Fingerprintreader like Mate S or Honor 7? Slide down for Notification.....

tempting, but seeing as the idle battery drain will significantly go up, i dont think ill enable it... wondering though why huawei left this feature hidden. maybe extra potential to "add new supercool functions" in future firmware updates?[emoji14]

Nevermind. Got it to work. thanks.

Will this feature increase the battery drain at standby?

I found black screen 3 times then I have to restart phone. I use fingerprint too. Now I remove it.

If somebody wants to post their battery drain results that would be super.

google is your friend. on other phones, idle battery drain was 0-8 mA vs. 30-50 mA without and with double tap to wake, respectively, all else being equal

Is there a way to enable it without root by creating shortcut like http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-s/general/how-to-activate-force-touch-t3260994/page4

It was disabled on certain models of Mediapad X2 as well. A lot of the same things I learned about the X2 apply to the Mate 8 as well. I still have my X2. It's a great compliment to the Mate 8.

Dude, you're my hero. This was the number one thing preventing me from getting this phone. My only other reservation is the Chinese ROM (and I don't want to flash international). The last time I bought a phone with a Korean ROM, the dialer was all jacked up and I could only dial contacts in the U.S. if I added a "1" in front of every single number. Most annoying thing ever. It had several other quirks, too, but that was the worst.

great! work perfectly on AL29!

Meizu MX5 and push notification issues

I bought them for almost two months and overall satisfied with everything except one thing - push notification issue. This is apply to all apps that owner need to be notified such as LINE, WhatsApp or even Gmail. It would happen around 1-3 minutes after your phone standby. Delay could be from 5 minutes to 15 minutes and more. No "Power saving" and "Wifi sleep" enabled. This was happen a much less when I was with 4..5.2.5A rom and much more when I upgraded to 4.5.2.7A. You could see messages only if you open those app manually most of the times. It was ridiculous
Here are solutions I tried and non of them work so far.
1. Went to Security --> Permissions --> Set "LINE" / "Google Services Framework" / "Google Account Manage" as auto restart.
2. above + Went to Security --> Power Saving --> Set "LINE" available to run while idle. Two setting simultaneously and still not work.
3. above two + lock "LINE" application to work on background. Three combination still doesn't ring a bell.
4. Roll back to 4.5.2.4A / 4.5.2.2A / 4.5.2.1A and still the same. (4.5.2.5A has been merged by Meizu developer so non available for download at the time.)
5. Try install almost every Launcher, every notification apps and even "push notification fixer" (for non-root) and still the same.
Do you have any idea or recommendation for a custom rom or a custom fix for this issue?
Hi.
I have just the same issue with recently bought Meizu M2 mini: Hangouts, Skype, Gmail - no notifications.... It's really frustrating
I have never had notification problems with M2 and MX5, this is what I do:
Security App, permission, Launch. Here every app to notify. Google stuff also.
Security app, powersaving. The same
Also this apps blocked in the multitask
Settings, wifi, advanced, wifi sleep disabled
Lock the app in ram via multitasking bar, this will not let the app to turn off.
anyone find a solution to this?
Hi
I found the solution 100% working for me. Just enter in security app/power/settings and disable the option " disable Linked Launch" thats all. Enjoy!

Notification Settings (FIX)

For some bizarre reason they have decided to omit Notification Settings in the Settings Menu. If you have an Android Wear watch and you want to change Notification Priorities for certain apps, this is a must, as well as many of the other Notification Settings.
Anyway the short term fix is to install an app called QuickShortcutMaker from the Play Store, then open it, search for com.android.settings.Settings$NotificationSettingsActivity and create a Shortcut for it.
There are others shortcuts that may be useful, another post has mentioned it to get rid of the 2nd sim icon. If I find any others, I'll let you know, and if anyone else finds other useful ones, please post.

Is that any solution to change Notification fonts and colour as I it's unusable to read Gmail Notification ?
Nope, only way to improve that is to play around with the Themes - try changing them using the app that is included called Themes.

I use honor 7 and the problem appeared notifications do not work, but I know half the solution, when you click on the box in the bottom of the screen Close all programs from the bottom up, do not close every program alone
many other things you can get with "QuickShortcutMaker" at your Honor 7 you will find here:

This is very confusing for typical android users, as this phone tries to save battery by closing all apps, which is a good thing for battery, but not for notifications, so it is very important for the apps that you want to receive notifications, you must protect them - go to Settings, Protected Apps, and turn on the ones you want to protect and stay alive.

Doesnt work for me. B330b. The switch shows for some milliseconds but then is hidden. Already tried a factory reset but that also didn't help.

it is possible. i had the same thing: it disappeared after milliseconds, but i managed to press it quickly. just locate your thumb above the (invisible) button, go back, then enter the same menu again and hit it.
took me ~10 tries, but after that the button remained visible. it's kinda stupid, but i guess its still a bug.
good luck
Yay! Double tapped the menu and it worked. Thanks

it’s a little bit tricky, but it works!!!
And the best of it: After the first time you have get it, the switch does not disappear again.
I played and won !
I did the quick press button trick too. But seems there is an easier way by editing local.prop file now:

Just enable networkspeed in file (with root only).

New features in OOS 4.0

So playing about with the new update I have found some new features within settings so created a thread to share and to find any more.
First setting I found was within status bar giving us an option to find toggles to show and hide icons and where battery icons are now found.
Another one is in display> display size is where to find Nougats DPI scale.
Then into sound > audio settings found at the bottom is built in sound enchantment and eq.
Battery settings and under the three dots is a aggressive doze &app hibernation which will act I assume in the same way Greenify work's.
Pocket mode is now in advanced menu.
Please feel free to add any more new settings or tips :victory:

Long press on back button is more convenient anyway in my opinion.

Display/screen off/asleep with no hardware/physical button that works with biometric?

As title says, do anyone of you know if there is any app or setting to set a software shortcut to put the screen off the same way the power button does?
I don't really like pressing the button all the time, for now i've set the display timer to 15 seconds to shut down itself but coming from the modding world (lineage etc) roms, I got used to have a shortcut like longpressing back button to have screen off instead of using the power button.
I tried nova launcher and some other apps, their shortcuts are working BUT they require the admin unlock (PIN or SIGN only), no fingerprint or eyeballing aviable.
Any clue to help this fella out?

If you change nova lock method from administrator to timeout (screen off, and times out to lock after 5 seconds for unrooted users) or even better if rooted, then you can use double tap to lock with biometrics.
Scroll to bottom of nova settings/advanced/screen lock method option

I use doubleHome, I double tap home buttom a black screen appears for 3 seconds, after the phone is locked with biometric unlock.
Free and works like a charm, from the same athor of bxactions!
Unfortunately using doubleHome you have to leave the current app.
Better: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dynalogix.screenoff.ultra.quick.timeout
There is a shortcut, you can use everywhere, e.g. as gesture.
Im happy to see I'm not the only one who needed this!
Every manufacturer should think about this and include it in the stock Rom tho
Thank anyone for all the ideas!!!
You can do this with any gestures or automation app that runs shell commands like LMT or Tasker, etc.
