Mi2 vs Mi2s - Xiaomi Mi 2

Looking into Mi2s, but don't see a forum for it. What's the difference?

The only difference is the SoC. Everything that works on one does on the other (recoveries, roms...)

Mi2s is faster.

as per gsmarena mi 2s clearly ahead with "dolby mobile" sound technology and have "MHL tv out". not present in "mi 2".

Dead topic, but just for those who are trying to look up the difference between the two: I had both phones, the Mi2 and the Mi2s, and I happened to use the same MHL adapter with both. They both have MHL. The only real difference is the clockspeed of the CPU: 1.5GHz vs 1.7GHz

The difference is the clockspeed of the CPU: 1.5GHz vs 1.7GHz. Mi2s is more powerful... on that age

redmi note 3 pro - it's newer, better hardware, snapdragon 650 (6 cores, gpu adreno 510 @ 600mhz, 64bit, better mobile support, 16mp camera, bigger battery - 4000 mah)
though don't get me wrong the snapdragon 801 that's in the MI note bamboo is nice but that cpu pretty outdated now, it's only 32bit, 4 cores, gpu adreno 330 @ 400mhz - and that cpu is a power hog, so I doubt a 3000mah battery would last long with that processor, it's known to run hot and be power hungry. -
I also have a device with the snapdragon 800, I can say the snapdragon 650 in the rn3p gives a much smoother web-browsing experience.

Mi MAX 2 going to be launched. What do you think guys?

http://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_max_2-8582.php
no improvement - 6.44" (1080x1920 pixels)
no improvement - 12MP (2160p)
good improvement - 6GB RAM (Snapdragon 626)
slight imprvement - 5000mAh (Li-Ion)
The SOC feels like a downgrade

big improvement - NFC
Some rumors about a SD 660 chipset. Otherwise I dont know how the 626 compares to 650. Is the camera alot better I might be interested anyway. My wife can get my mi max 1 then
The camera will be a great improvement (Sony imx 378)

Yeah, if that really is the SoC with 3 year old A53-s, its a downgrade.
Keep the price at around $300 for the 128gb version and it will be a steal even with a slightly better soc and camera.
SD626 isn't as good as SD652/3 but it has best endurance. With proper optimization, it may lead this area. SD626+5000mAh is definitely much much better.
Also these guys are downgrading SOC to keep costs same. See the way Redmi Note series did.

It's not about price, it's about supply... Xiaomi is too nobady to get on the 660 wagon. Even bigger and more reputable players on the market have hard times to secure 660 from Qualcomm in quantities they need.
Yes! That's the biggest point, true.
The topper here is SD625+5000mAh phone.
The 626 will get better battery life at the expense of performance, like the Redmi Note 3 vs Note 4 Snapdragon variants. I guess most people won't be able to tell the performance difference but they can definitely tell battery life changes.
The great thing about the 650/652 is that it could be really fast if you wanted it or really efficient. The 615 and 626 don't have that ability because they don't have powerful A72 cores. The 660 would be the best but I doubt that will make it into a lot of phones as it could jeopardize flagship sales... Who needs the latest 8xx SoC when a 66x at half the price is good enough?
I have the 650 soc Max, using it as a mini tablet at home. If the Max 2 have richer duel speakers; better contrast screen and 660 soc. I will likely upgrade, otherwise the current Max is good enough.
Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has been released.

Battery is 5300mAh

i can't believe it, snapdragon 650 to 625 is an upgrade???
it's a huge mistake and very disappointing
also i hoped for a better LCD which is the same
Look at the bright side... No need to upgrade....

Absolutely true Buddy! Let's upgrade next year when Max3 with possibly SD770 will be out.
Beat to attract new comers to huge screen phones not for an upgrade.

Relieved to read the specs of this phone. No need to upgrade if you own a Max. On the contrary, buy one when the priced fall a bit as the Max 2 is released. It has a better SoC.

Underclocked Snapdragon 660 or Overclocked Snapdragon 636 on Realme 2 Pro?

It looks like Newly launched Realme 2 Pro have a Underclocked QC SD 660 or Overclocked QC SD 636. I checked Mi A2 (SD 660) , Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 ( SD 636) and Realme 2 Pro ( SD660) in CPU-Z and AIDA64 Apps.

Do not fully trust the information provided in 3rd party apps or other websites. Please refer official websites of each particular phone to get the TRUE and CORRECT information about the processors used in them and the clock speeds that they are set to.
The SD660 used in Realme 2 Pro has a ( Original ) clock speed of 2.2 Ghz when Qualcomm makes that chip but the OEM ( Phone Manufacturer ) can tweak and change the clock speeds of the chip as per their strategy when using it in any phone.
For Realme 2 Pro the manufacturer Realme Mobiles has decided to clock the SD660 processor at 2 Ghz. That can be for various reasons depending on Software Optimizations, Battery Optimizations, Or maybe Just for No Reason :silly:
The point is, for an average user or for any user for that matter, it does not matter much. Plus there is a dedicated Artificial Intelligence Engine ( AIE ) which is not present in SD636.
Nowadays the term "Artificial Intelligence" is so wrongly used by every phone manufacturer to promote and sell their new phones to people who do not have any idea about AI in a smartphone. Fact is, there are only FEW countable chips in this world who ACTUALLY have a dedicated AI Engine in them and SD660 which is used in Realme 2 Pro has that Real AI in it.
So....
fully working poco f1 with all bootloader unlocking this that everything
For me the real benefit of SD660 over SD636 is the GPU, which is about 30% faster and that matters A LOT.

Right. GPU is a very important aspect in todays world where we have high end graphics games and apps. And even slight upgrade in GPU makes a notable difference :good:
Hi,
Then Whats the idea about NPU chip in coming new chipset series? Are they both same or is there any big difference?
Thanks!

is there a Mi 9T Pro?

All I heard was the mi 9t, and no pro variant.
Seems to be coming a pro version. Dutch phoneseller belsimpel.nl has a link to this device, and they are official xiaomi seller. Might also be to generate some pre-sales just in case....
hopefully it comes.. but first I really need the information that it will be.. if not I will move from my OP3 to the Mi9T (nonPro).. if yes, I will wait..

Me too
I kinda strugle there, the only bonus the 9T Pro would bring is the SD 855 and the higher battery charging as far as i know, and the included charger doesn't support it.
The 9T on the other hand has a new very power efficient (as far as ive read) SD 730 which will mean much longer battery runtime.
So i need some time there.

There are more 'tiny' differences to consider.
- 4K 30fps vs 4K 60fps
- No laser autofocus vs laser autofocus
- Single band GPS vs Dual band GPS

But the Mi 9T Pro has a Super Amoled screen which uses less power than just an Amoled screen, so that may make up for some loss of power from the chip.

Thanks for the info on the laser autofocus. I was wondering about that as the videos I've seen seem to indicate that the Mi 9T seems to have issues focusing in videos it's creating.

Yes you are right. That's why the 30FPS vs the 60FPS.
The K20 pro is launching next month in India and they don't have a mi 9 so nothing to worry about from Xiaomi's part
However the global market has a mi 9 which is just 3 months old. My guess is there'll be at least another 3 months wait for the pro varient.
Mi 9t pro is in 3 month an old phone. IMHO a Bad decision to release the non pro first.

Poco F2 Pro vs K30 Ultra

Looks like with K30 Ultra (Global Version) we will get a better F2 Pro.
+ 120Hz Amoled & 240Hz touch sampling rate
+ stereo speaker
+ Dual-5G and for sure not only N77/N78
+ AV1 video playback
+ f/1.7
+ 6/128GB 1999RMB 245EUR 290USD
+ 8/512GB 2699RMB 331EUR 390USD
- UFS 2.1
- LPDDR4x
- 4500 mAh
- no 3.5mm anymore
- no custom roms because of MediaTek
- "only" ~530k AnTuTu
- China-Version without B20 800 MHz 4G and no N28 5G
With -280mAh and no 3.5mm we maybe get great speaker. The cheap trash F2 Pro mono speaker is for me already enough to switch.
Will you switch, if we get a global version?
i'm using redmi k30 pro (china version), i like the 120Hz screen refresh rate, but i don't like MTK cpu, not enough to change from k30 pro with 865 SoC

Agree, they should've made it with at least an SD7xx chipset
I'm gonna stick with my trash
its the same screen ? 120hz its software ?
It will also be cheaper.

These three negatives are the largest turn off for me. Especially the MediaTek CPU. It makes installing roms and updates a nightmare from personal experience. Definitely not going switch because of just a bit better screen and speaker.

The Mediatek 1000+ is almost a 855+ with >530.000 Antutu score
MediaTek CPU no thanks ?
No MediaTek trash for me. thanks.
I refused to ever buy another mediatek phone , would rather stick with 60hz and love having 3mm jack . The f2 so far is superb .
All I need is root and magisk, I dont care about 3rd party roms
Gonna pick SD865 than a crappy Dimensity 1000+ any day.
If it's 2018-2019, Sure I'd pick dimensity 1000+ but idk since xiaomi eu does not support mtk devices and a chance of bricking an mtk device is there but u can use edl mode but meh.
and headphone jack over 120hz any day. you do get roms on both. it's just the situation right now and the sources we're kinda borked early on for the K30 pro and only a few has their hands on the device. let's see but a big no for the mtk device.
F2 Pro/K30 Pro/Zomm wins for me.
What I don't understand is that need of Xiaomi for flooding the market with so many devices which are apparently almost the same. Are they imitating Samsung?
I'm also of the "trash speaker - headphones jack - 865" club.

Samsund did that, Huawei did that and now Xiaomi do it. Thats why

Not custom ROMs on f2 pro so that's equal.
And mediatek dimension 1000+ it's a beast and cheaper than the sd865. So for me is a win win in all aspects.
Dimensity 1000+ lower performance are not an issue comparing to SD865, even better with its integrated 5G modem. However, lack of Mediatek's technical documentation and development support are the biggest concern. Even with 120Hz display, thanks, but no thanks Xiaomi.
It's only an option if Xiaomi releases the whole Kernel. Hopefully it would be easier to handle than Redmi Note 8 Pro. And we need a global version first because of some required frequencies.
Maybe... Madiatek will finally unleashed the (devs) horses...
