very cute girls
the pictures look just fine to me for a smartphone camera. havent taken any of my own yet, i barely use the camera at all tbh...

Yes actually the camera is not good
Note 5 camera is way better in low light and normal light
But the daylight is great
Image processing is bad

But the device is the fastest phone I ever used

ah well, good thing im not choosing my phones based on the camera
and yes, its the best of both worlds, fastest cpu coupled with longest battery life, pretty awesome

I am coming from the HAM2 which had no OIS to speak of. No its not the note 5 camera, but I was never really big on Samsung anyways. I think it's more than what I could ask for.

Same here. I post later a Picture, but for Pics i use my DSLR so i dont care about camera that much in phones. Its a great camera for Snapshots thats all we need

It's a good camera in daylight, frustrating in low light. Especially having top of the line hardware. You can get good pics using manual, but without the ability to save settings it's not really useful. Would live to have HTC camera on it, great for saving settings. You can install it but... It's not optimized

Have anyone noticed any change in the camera after upgrading a firmware. The camera is about the only that's not really good on this phone, I prefer my 6P any day (the the rest of the phone is really really good) .

Actually the sensor is very capable but software is badly optimimized. Automatic settings tends to use too high ISO value and that makes picture too noisy. It is possible to take much better pictures by using manual settings.

Not so bad

Since huawei launch mate 8 and the review did by many site, there is any improvment or not ?
Because i'm interest to buy this phone but the photo take me away...

The first problem with the focusproblem is gone but there quite a lot of work concerning quality and indoor shots. Even if the hardware can't compete with phones like the N6P for night time shots there is a lot to do. It's a good cam in daylight but a rather crappie player indoor.

I'm not exactly happy with the camera. Quite disappointed tbh..
Here's what I noticed. Please confirm if you notice the same behavior on your devices or if it's just me.
1. The UI and the whole functionality in general is just quite primitive.. For one, the front/back switch button should be at the bottom where you can easily reach it using one hand. Like on the S7.
2. Snapping a picture isn't fast and instant. I found many times that the camera takes about a second to fine tune focus THEN it takes the snap then it asks to keep the device steady for sharpening. Even if it didn't do that, it still takes a moment after pressing the snap button to actually take the shot. This is what bugs me the most about the camera.
3. Why does recording video have to take an extra tap and, therefore, more time? Why isn't it as easy as tapping a record button on the main viewfinder screen?
4. I found pictures to be extremely dull. Colors are sad.. washed out.
5. "image adjustment" is quite a joke. Changing the values either explodes up or murders image features. For example trying to fix dull colors results in either extremely dead pictures or extremely punched out colors.
6. Even if I did accept the resulting changes from "image adjustment", I found that after a while it resets itself and I have to set it again...!
7. "AF Auxillary Light" option in pro photo mode never stays turned off. If I choose to turn it off, it should stay off.
8. I was told there was a vertical panorama mode where you can take panoramic shots of long buildings for example. Can't find it.
I do like how sharp the images are. Even compared to the S7, pictures preserve much more details. Something that often shows clearly when pixel peeping. Although, the dull colors that need post adjustment and the sluggish slow snapping just takes away all the fun, luxury and efficiency.
My toughs in Low light conditions:
i have a S6 edge and a normal S6 and both phones takes better pictures in almost all situations in comparation with the honor in auto mode....sadly...
to make good pictures like my S6 I have to go in pro mode in the Honor 8 and make adjustments and even so, in the 40% of time the S6 wins in sharpness, detail in low light conditions...
most of the time I need 1 picture in the Samsung and 4 or 5 tries in the Honor to mach the picture in the Samsung.
good camera but for me but if you came from a samsung s6/s7 you will strange the honor 8.
in the color accuracy I think that the honor is more true colors..
the main problem for me in the honor 8 is the lake of OIS, the pictures, especially in low light conditions are most of the time, out of focus...
the camera app, I think that is no good for take pictures in auto mode...
in outdoors:
In 90% of the cases, Honor is the the winner for me.
Better colors, better contrast, better details overall...

Huawei Mate 9 Firmware

Hi,
Found this firmware is case anybody interested...It's for MHA-L29C432B126.
Link to download from this website..http://hwmt.ru/hwmtsite/база-найденных-прошивок/
Site is in russian...
In case you cannot download..here's the link to download from my dropbox folder..
https://www.dropbox.com/s/zhav205jv084pl3/update.zip?dl=0
Just received and installed the official B126 OTA update (553MB) in the Netherlands.
Nice. Any changes to share with us?
added 6x zoom
Notification when password is needed for public wifi
status bar displays notifications in a clearer way
deleted unnecessary prompts
carrier parameters for better network
November security patches
Ah also in the Netherlands but no ota just yet hope it will arrive before I catch my plane to Spain tomorrow haha
That's great news! Thank you for sharing! :highfive:
It seems they tweaked the camera a bit, a bit sharper but more importantly better white balance
Installing MHA L29C432B126 as we speak!!
Not yet here in Italy...
Inviato dal mio MHA-L29 utilizzando Tapatalk
It seems it is a phased rollout, haven't got it either although couple of people here in the Netherlands already have it.
OTA in Germany as well

And the good news is:
Camera is significantly improved. The blurriness, washed out pics are gone and the result is now very much on par with the excellent LG G4 camera
In car BT streaming is fully working, even all tags are coming through
Notification area is improved, notifications are no longer numbers only, you can now choose icons
The whole phone feels snappier, like developer logging is switched off
This is for sure a major step forward, creating an even better phone. Samsung, are you watching?

Would be great if they improved the EIS for videos and maybe added something like auto HDR+; essentially taking some cues from the Pixel. They need to use the gyroscope like Google does.
Would also like to see an sRGB display profile for accurate colors.
General tweaks to display latency and audio output especially the headphone jack (according to reviews) would also be nice.
Of course if they would release some kernel sources and device trees etc for developers that would be amazing too but that would probably be wishful thinking
But I am glad to see that they tweaked the camera. It definitely needed it. However they still have some work to do.

True but it does seem to take some good shots though.
But they definitely need to take a look at the EIS. It's done quite poorly from what I can tell especially in video.

LG G6 users, is the camera a lot better than the Note 4?

Hi folks, heading out today to get an LG G6 to replace a Note 4. I've really enjoyed the note 4's camera, still takes excellent shots.
Is the LG G6 camera setup a whole lot better? A lot better? A bit better? l'm sure someone out there knows
Thanks for any comment... Cheers!:highfive:

I had the Note 4, which yes had a great camera, that being said, for me, the G6 is appreciably better IQ wise, especially in lower light, F1.8 really helps. See the attached photo at 1200 iso which I think is really impressive and way beyond what the Note 4 would have achieved IQ wise at 1200 iso. And another more normal photo with great detail. That's my 5 cents, hope it helps.

Very nice! I'm a sucker for flower and pet pictures- Love shooting 'em around the house :highfive:
These were from my old note 4, but will have the LG G6 tomorrow.
Caught me a bee at work in the first one. The closeup shot you got was really sharp and good looking.
I love it for the most part. The wide angle sucks if you're taking landscape shots. Stupidly panorama can't be done with the camera IMO the correct orientation. It has to be held up and down. Can't hold phone side ways. That's my only gripe honestly.
With a clip on macro lens
the wide angle is actually fine, one must remember its getting almost double the scene with the same 13 mp hence the photos looking softer (less detail), take your P&S camera and take a photo at 45/50mm and then zoom out to 24mm while standing at the same place and take another photo then look at each at 100% you'll see exactly the same thing, same amount of megapixels covering a lot more info...
Hi
I got a new LG G 6 4 days back.
The picture quality is pathetic. Its blurry and pixelated 99.99% pictures clicked in all conditions are going wrong, day light, artificial, auto manual, dual cam, single cam.
any idea what is wrong.
I have read many reviews and videos and am sure that pic quality is bound to be better but unable to figure out.

I had the Mate 9 and I'm currently owning a P10 Plus.
Pretty much they are the same phone, with 1 big difference: battery life.
I don' t know what Huawei did with this EMUI 5.1., but is total garbage. Battery life is really bad, and you won't be able to make more than 3 hours SOT over a day. Is a total shame:

On the mate 9 I could get easily 8-9 hours SOT, and I thought with this P10 Plus would be something similar because of the similar specs, but is the other way around. Performance is good, as well as camera and every other thing you can imagine, but this battery totally sucks. There is people who claim that there's a beta that fixes this, but still no word of ETA.
Anyway, if you are having a hard time deciding these 2 devices, I would say check first the Mate 9 Pro, that pretty much is the combination of both. I'm seriously considering giving back the P10 Plus and get the Mate 9 Pro, because are almost identical specs and price.

You have to take in mind that P10 and P10 Plus have different audio systems, and the latest has double speakers as well, more like the Mate 9 arrangement, which makes a big difference.

For me they are pretty similar, both in quality and loudness.
Regarding the cellular strength, nothing to worry about, Huawei always make the devices with the best reception.
Mate 9, cheaper and better performance if you can deal with the size. Only loss is the faster lense on camera

Just got the MI 9T in the USA AMA

I am using it on ATT and have 3g hspa+. I can watch Youtube and Netflix. I have installed a 3rd party launcher with app drawer. I also installed the Gcam mod from the MI 9 forum and it is fantastic.
I'm about to bite the bullet for the Mi 9T very soon. Could you show some picture samples with the Gcam mod, I want to see how much better the google camera will make it on this device. In addition, how's the battery life in terms of SOT?

Too soon to tell about battery life. I will upload some pics later.
Does it hold up to its hype?
First day using at work. I work in a box store that has a metal roof. I was surprised by the cell reception. There are LTE bands on this phone that are not in the specs. I used LTE Discovery app and I found that this phone works on Straightalk (ATT) bands 2,4 and 5. I was able to use LTE data for my entire workday. I had 3hrs SOT with 64% battery at the end of my workday. I am pleased with the battery life and connectivity so far.

Coming from a Mate 20X the smaller size was the biggest challenge . I use a 3 party launcher and excluded a few key apps from it's agressive battery management.

You can search for the "test pattern", play the video and wait for few seconds and tell us the resolution it shows on the top.

Can you address the lack of the Laser Auto Focus in the camera compared to the k20 pro ... Have you encountered any trouble with the focus while using the camera?

I have not encountered any issues. I mostly use the Gcam except for wide angle shots.

I am using it on ATT and have 3g hspa+. I can watch Youtube and Netflix. I have installed a 3rd party launcher with app drawer. I also installed the Gcam mod from the MI 9 forum and it is fantastic.

Hi there.
Can u share which one mi9 apk that works great on Mi 9T? i prefer gcam that can switch between 3 camera and working night sight if possible
Also, Mi 9T is using UFS 2.1 or emmc? no info about the storage type in the gsmarena
can someone please list of all the bands 3g and LTE on the 9T model, i am looking to get this in canada
No offense but this wide angle shoot is quite disappointing or rather say inferior. Looking at the edges of the screen especially. Too bad, I'm still thinking buying this phone as the main camera should rock.
