Ok so i have taken a baring on how the Z1 acts and preforms on stock. - Xperia Z1 General

Now lets see what she does on custom.
"incoming detailed rants and rolls"

Ok rooted and debloated with kingroot.
Not to be confused with kingoroot.

Ok so I have been testing all day.. it's about 10%.. but still sucks.
Reading up on how to unlock the bootloader... nearly want to commit suicide due to the over complexity of it.

I don't understand what your problem is. You say you wanted to try custom roms. Then why do you have to deal with rooting and debloating. Just unlock bootloader and install a custom rom, which is pre-rooted. You can also install a custom stock based rom also pre-rooted. You don't need root to unlock bootloader...

Well it is a though situation with the Z1. I dont want to unlock the bootloader as it will remove the DRM keys and I cant make a backup of the DRM keys without being rooted. One solution could be going back to KK 4.4.4, root with available method then install bootloader and flash new rooted LP 5.1.1 ROM. But to much work setting everything up again so the Kingroot method is the most convenient then replacing with SuperSu. I guess though I am not convinced yet about Kingroot as I am skeptic about what info it sends to China, how it is used and what it installs in root aswell as if it injects any code to for say Google Play Services to gain control even if uninstalled.

Towelroot can you help.
It better then kingsroot because you can set up your own su manager (SuperSU or whatever)
I rooted my Z1 with LP with Towelroot version 1.0 when I have it correctly in my mine.

King root has some really nice features.. and a lot of really bad features.
Plus it feels very un trust worthy.
I want to unlock my bootloader but i'm on 5.1.1... so i need to downgrade first..
Rather just stick to stock at this point and pray kingroot is not evil.

But have you tried to replace it with SuperSu? I reckon there is a thread in this section with a former version of Kingroot and a script that uninstalls Kingroot and installs SuperSu as IIRC the later versions of Kingroot has "uninstall protection" in the way that it may remove the root altogether and/or prevent normal function of SuperSu.

No you need root.
Flash CF root, then flash back your stock kernel, you will still have root but without the yellow warning triangle.

No need to, just make a note of what kernel you're using, then download it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
1. It is not possible to root without flashing kernal
But you can update firmware to newest one via ODIN
2. You can unlock without rooting... Its called paying for the unlock code
Free is only through rooting
3. And why have you got another one if you already have a SGS2 ??????
Is that you are hooked on to rooting and bricking

Well if you didn't note down your stock kernel and flashed a completely different one into it, then you have a problem. Im still very much new to android systems and XDA. (i registed today, but I lurked and read and researched for several days)
But, I think you can just grab one of the latest ones but I think some more experienced users here can give you a better answer on that matter.

I was getting a ton of reboots (basically everytime I turned the screen on) after I rooted. I just took this update last night and now I haven't had a reboot and everything is working great. At least as stable as the ND3 version or probably more so.
I get Ann occasional reboot now, on nd3. I am rooted but still have a 0 Knox counter so I am staying right where I'm at. Seems the only reason for the update is to close the exploit. No thanks.

Well, I don't know. I haven't seen any report yet on whether TowelRoot even still works on NG1. It probably does, but until someone uses it to successfully root an NG1 device, we won't know for sure.
If I were you, I'd probably install Voodoo OTA RootKeeper and run that before accepting the OTA. Then, if you do lose root, you could try just re-rooting with TowelRoot and post back here to let us know if that works. If it doesn't, then you could try to use RootKeeper to restore root.
But, if you are the first one to try it, there will always be the risk that you will lose root and not be able to get it back...

Towelroot does not work after updating to NG1, but CF Auto Root does.
I got NG1 today too (was on ND3 previously, unrooted)
I know the update notification talked about Kids Mode but i don't know where that's enabled, because nothing new in Settings menu.
So basically, it looks exactly like ND3 to me. which is fine, because ND3 was fine for me.
Just picked up a Tab Pro 8.4 from the BestBuy sale, first thing I noticed was that an update is available. I want a root method that does not trip Knox so I did not install the update yet, waiting to hear if TowelRoot will work but I have a feeling it will not.
Looked on there website and they are clear that this will work on kernel versions prior to June 2014 and they haven't updated that date yet.

My tab on the latest version constantly reboots at random. It's not an actual manual reboot because it cycles through without that startup music and it's slightly faster. Feels more like a restart of the android system files. Or something.
Anyone have a workaround?

You can find custom recovery here:

I'm afraid that so far no luck with custom roms because only ones for this device are cm or aspects based wich include custom kernel. We need developers for custom roms with stock kernel.

What i found about this rooting method and how to fix it by change the kinguser to superuser. Just wanna share to you guys.
Iroot and Kingroot are arguably two of the most popular rooting applications because of their efficiency and ability to root most android devices with just a single click.
But the only problem with this apps is that instead of the traditional SuperSU most android users are used to, kinguser is installed instead. Many people are always looking for ways to replace the kinguser with SuperSU because kinguser doesn't grant proper root permission to some apps like cleanmaster, lucky patcher e.t.c
I will be sharing with you guyzz two different methods to replace kinguser with SuperSU.

Check Bootloader Status for N910G 6.0.1?

Hi
I'm trying to flash custom rom for my Note 4 for the first time ever and before installing TRWP it ask me to make sure that my bootloader is unlocked.
Now the problem is, *#*#7378423#*#* is not working and "fastboot oem device-info" via adb is also not working.
How do I check whether my phone's bootloader is locked or unlocked?
Thank you

Wait, so you're saying there is not a single person on this planet that flash custom rom on Note 4 anymore? And even if they do they don't bother to check bootloader state in case it's locked and brick the phone in the flashing process?

Flashing root and flashing Custom Rom is not the same.
Flashing root doesn't care about your bootloader state while flashing Custom Rom does. If you flash Custom Rom when the bootloader is still locked then you can say goodbye to your phone

Yes, exactly...
What model is your phone? Mine is 910H. If you have H or C, I think its safe to assume that its not locked.

Mine is 910G on Mashmellow 6.0.1
I'm sure you are not the only one with 910G.
Go to 910G subforum, take some time to read, and maybe if you see a user with the same national flag with you, PM him.
Or just google : how to root 910G
Or anything.....

I've read them all and have tried them all that's why I post here and again, please, I know how to root. In fact my phone is already rooted. Please read again. I want to flash custom rom so I need to check my bootloader state.
I don't think your BL is locked and I only know 1 phone model that is locked which is verizon's "sm-n910V". I only check or change BL if the rom specify it.
I'll give an example alexandr's rom for sm-n910F you need to flash BL and modem if your going his 6.0.1 rom if your still on 5.1.1 so you don't need to flash the whole 6.0.1 stock rom.
Hope this helps find the right directions to your problem.

I see. As much as I want to believe you and go ahead to try, in worse case scenario if my phone is bricked, I don't have enough cash to buy a new phone right now

Nah, there gotta be someone out there who knows how to make it work. All I have to do is be patient
<Mod snip>
You should have done it weeks ago.
TWRP is a custom recovery, flash it via ODIN, use the version for your model of phone.
It does not require an unlocked bootloader, it merely overwrites the recovery partition.
If you truly had read up on it, you would have known that a long time ago and would not have wasted two weeks, five pages on a thread that are completely useless.
Really surprised the mods have not shut this nonsense down.

Well there you go..... Didn't use ODIN like the install instructions on the TWRP site suggests. And darn near every other web site on the planet outlining how to install TWRP and Root your phone.
And of course your phone was Rooted correct?
Just guessing you installed the TWRP Manager from Google Play Store.
Where it states (Requires ROOT). Which is a tricky thing to do..... without TWRP.
Yes, TWRP Manager is a great tool. If TWRP was already installed. Using ODIN. And you Rooted your phone. After installing TWRP, using ODIN.

Not what the site suggest? It's literally the first method they recommend
