Samsung Galaxy S7 rumor mania: Everything important we know about the specs, price an - Galaxy View General

Where there's a phone, there's a rumor, and the biggest one surrounding the unannounced Samsung Galaxy S7 is that the device will launch at next month's CES show in Las Vegas.
It's all conjecture at this point, along with the growing list of Galaxy S7 scuttlebutt that I've gathered up for you below. But here's the gist: the Galaxy S7 (and S7 Edge) isn't expected to change its design too much after last year's major overhaul, but it might include a microSD card slot again (yes!). The camera will add more low-light support, and Samsung looks like it's back in the thick of processors with Qualcomm again. Oh, and the phone might emerge as soon as January (and possibly at CES), according to one rumor.
This list of gossip and leaks originally published December 9, 2015 and updates frequently. It was last updated December 28, 2015 at 1:21 p.m. PT.

I just want the damn thing to come in 5.7" without edge. The Note 5 was a joke of a device and I want to replace my Note 2.
If that means going back to the S series, no problem, I don't use the pen - but give us IR blaster, USB-C, MicroSD U3 etc

Samsung Galaxy S III to hit retail shelves in India on June 8, priced at Rs 39,990

Samsung will be hosting a press conference in New Delhi on May 31 to launch the Galaxy S III in India but the smartphone is likely to be available a week later. Multiple sources have told BGR India that the Galaxy S III will be available on store shelves around June 8. Even online retailers are expecting units to be available for shipping from June 8 onwards.
We are also hearing that the Galaxy S III will be priced at Rs 39,990. This is likely to be the MRP and not the street price. However, considering the high profile nature of the Galaxy S III, we cannot confirm whether the phone will retail at Rs 39,990 for the first few weeks or will it, like all other phones, have a different market operating price as soon as it is launched. At the moment, Samsung is taking pre-bookings for the Galaxy S III and is offering a free Bluetooth headset for those who commit Rs 2,000 to reserve their unit.
The Galaxy S III will compete with the HTC One X, which was launched in India for Rs 37,899 and is now retailing at about Rs 36,000. Samsung might just put a premium on the Galaxy S III, considering the success of the Galaxy S II and the Galaxy Note as well as its marketing muscle, which would easily overshadow what HTC has done so far for the One X. Ideally, HTC could gain some additional sales were it to slash the price of the One X but that is unlikely to happen.

Nice June 8 isn't too far from now. I'm excited for Indian users as a lot of them are into samsung devices and also great developers like Gadgetcheck.

The release of Galaxy S5 Prime is true?

I've heard that new cpu and etc have some errors so Samsung released current Galaxy S5 on WWDC. So the rumor that samsung will release better phone named Galaxy S5 Prime on June is spread in Korea. Is it true?
Not true -- Every rumor thus far is exactly that, a rumor. None of them have been confirmed or have any sort of proof to suggest they are true.
I'm pretty sure Samsung denied a premium s5 a few weeks ago.

Why would Samsung release a phone in an Apple event?
People have to stop thinking about this "Prime" bs, either wait for S6 or Note 4 (depending on what size of device you're looking for), but don't expect gigantic leaps of evolution over the S5 though. But perhaps by that time the technological advancement will be enough for you to drop the S4 and upgrade.

Note Edge 2, Project Noble, Zen, Zero 2 Official Rumors Thread

So not even 2 weeks ago, the code name was confirmed Project Zero 2(S6 Edge 2 Name) (Note Edge 2 Name is Project Noble), which in Samsung terminology means starting all over from scratch...
From what I've read around on various sources, this is moreless going to be a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge 2, no stylus, single edge again, larger screen, what I'm stumped on and actually questioning is the storage and rear camera, so it goes it'll have 16Gb rom, and a 16mp rear camera, front will be 8mp.
But this also leaves me to wonder, WILL WE SEE A Note Edge 2 this year or just only a S6 Edge 2?
Theres this with no factual background sources and ANYONE can buy a domain name make a semi-pro layout and post speculations: http://galaxynoteedge2.com/, I'm mainly interested to see if we get to keep the removable battery.
Here's a few articles from SamMobile about it: http://www.sammobile.com/2015/04/29/exclusive-samsung-project-zen-and-project-noble-details/ published 04/29, http://www.sammobile.com/2015/05/07/rumor-samsung-galaxy-note-5-project-zen-details-emerge/ published 05/07, http://www.sammobile.com/2015/05/20...out-the-galaxy-note-5-and-the-project-zero-2/ published 05/20

If anybody has any other findings post them here.
Man i hope its not a single edge without s pen. I used the note edge for a little bit and decided to trade it recently for a nexus 6 knowing the new edge would only be a few months away. I really miss that thing. It was a head turner. Another thing im worried about is it being another 400 dollar service agreement price. I got an open line just waiting on it to drop.
I have heard different things. Double edge no s pen is what i have heard the most. But i have seen some double edge with s pen images too.

Well apparently I think there's going to be 3 devices released september this year, Note 5, Note Edge 2 (Project Noble) and S6 Edge (Project Zen renamed to Project Zero 2)
This was just published by AndroidPIT

all rumors point toward no note edge 2 being released. the s6 edge+ (not part of the note series) looks to be just a larger version of the s6 edge. and like the s6 edge no right or left independent displays. i believe the NE2 was axed because it would be very expensive to produce. i think samsung decided that for the small number of sales it got, and the price they would have to sell a new one for, (which would be north of $1000usd) it simply wasn't practical. my assumption is based on the belief that the devise would follow on the build quality of the current S series, that it would need a huge non replaceable battery and 64 or 128gb of non expandable memory.

Look up Project Noble... That's the Ne2
do you know how many "projects" a large corporation like samsung starts without a public release. the note edge was a "project" at one point . originally it was only being developed for the local korean market. the note edge was never being developed for world distribution. public outcry made it a reality. just because they have a "project noble" in the works does not mean a note edge 2 release is imminent.

You're being misinformed by being ignorant, the articles clearly cover 3 devices, the Note 5, Project Zero 2(Samsung's Starting Over from Scratch code name aka Project Zen) and the Note Edge 2 aka Project Noble. But nope okay obviously YOU KNOW More than me so why not go make your own thread, where you can be right with no sourcing.
I'd go as far as to argue that it didn't sell well cause it was released in limited quantities, unlike the S6 Edge.
calm down, it's just my opinion based on everything we know today. i hope your correct. just look, we've seen leaked pics of the s6 edge+, the note 5, but where are the leaked images of the note edge 2. then you read all the rumors like this (http://www.ubergizmo.com/2015/06/no-galaxy-note-5-edge/) and you don't hold out much hope.

LoL I hope ? you're wrong. I think it would be cool to get a dual edged note, then again I rarely ever use the spen, so I sacrifice that for being the same size as the Note Edge.
It didn't sell well because there was no hype/advertising for it and it had a 429$ upgrade price. Why would u buy it for 429 when u could get a regular note 4 for 129 dollars less. It didn't even show up under best buy trade in program when i had mine. Honestly i think it was looked at as a gimmick and under appreciated. I loved mine and if the new edge doesn't have s pen or independent display i wont be using my upgrade on it.

I know I was at Sprint the day it was released and 2 other people were there trying to get one and were directed to that store having them in stock from another store and 3 T-Mobile stores I frequent were sold out of them.

I unfortunately am under the impression that the Note Edge is going to end up being a one-off device.
The setup and functionality of the edge screen changed with the s6 edge, and unless there have been updates, all I've heard is that s6 edge is more about aesthetic appearance than usefulness by comparison to the Note Edge.
Samsung doesn't seem to be really interested in developing the concept of the edge panel as a full utility to enhance their implementation of Android.
Next to nothing has shown up in their market for edge specific new features or panel choices.
Honestly, they seem more interested in tinkering around with their in-house operating system and smart watches lately.
I am disappointed that they have more or less it seems to have abandoned really developing and exploring the possible functionality of the edge screen.
Right now, it seems like Samsung is just sitting around fat and happy, because every other android device maker seems to have stepped up their game in terms of their respective new devices. You can debate if their good or bad, but at least you can see they're driving at progressively updating and improving their phones.
What is Samsung doing? One step forward and 2 steps back. I could care less about a metal backing on the phone when it means getting rid of adding a miniSD for storage, as well as no longer being able to swap out the battery.
The battery situation might be tolerable, but the getting rid of being able to add storage is a joke. As if adding a tiny slot on the top or bottom of the phone to insert a microSD is beyond their engineering capabilities!?
If device manufacturers didn't charge through the nose for larger capacity "upgrades" it might not be as big a deal, but then at the very least any of their "flagship" phones should have no less than 64gb- especially since they use 4-6 gb for the OS and customization.

No note 5 for uk

I am absolutely disappointed by this!
Terrible move by Samsung for not releasing this in the UK.. Kick in the teeth
Time to think about changing brands
Apparently no 128gb model either. A person on a forum linked a Verizon page showing a 128gb, but Verizon is stating was a place holder for the launch and based on S6 offering one. I guess
a few days/weeks to see if Samsung changes their tune and then months before one could be added to the line up and landed to consumers.
EU actually.
the entire continent is missing out on the note 5, not just the little island in the west.
In fact Samsung now offer more or less only one phone in two sizes and with our without round edges (S6/edge/edge+ and note 5) and then they castrate themselves by taking the note from 1/3 of the world market with the argument that the phones were too similar and they would fear a cannibalism effect like they suffered already with S6 and S6edge. If they would had designed the note 5 differently and had given it besides the pen other differentations like replaceable batteries, plastic housing, sd card and water proofness they could have addressed different potential customers and they would not had the need to withdraw it from Europe.
Almost like Samsung is being mind controlled by Apple, since Apple could not hope for a "better" product to go against with the new iPhone 6+.
What a stupid decision are Samsung determined too cede their market share to their rivals.
At the most it may appear in the EU next year.

It has to come to Europe. I am defiant by that statement. Even if it will be in 2016.
I still think it's ridiculous though. I thought, I'll skip the Note 4 and get the 5, and then it's delayed by six months.
The market availability of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will vary according to consumer needs and the specific market situation. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will be introduced in the US and Asian markets in August and we will look at further opportunities to launch the Galaxy Note 5 in other markets.

Short story of my day...
"Uhhh, can't wait for the new Note 5 as I wanted a replacement for my Note 3."
Samsung: No SD card.
"Okay, not fond of it but I will survive."
Samsung: Can't change battery.
"Ahh dammit, but still want it."
"Actually just shut up and take my money!"
Samsung: F... you, we won't sell it to you.

Imo this was a very risky, bold move by not releasing this in the uk. But when you think about it korea and china constantly get phones that the uk and us dont. Im not going to bash them becuase i have an s6 and love it. We all should of known the note would be nothing but an overblown s6. Just like the nexus 6 was a moto x 2014 on steriods. Id assume once sales drop for sammy they will come to their senses and at least bring back an sd card on the s7 and note 6. Not much different than the "flagship killer" oneplus2 with no nfc or the m9 that was just a m8. Not a great year for new devices.

yup, I love my S6, had to buy it because my moto x 2014 broke but I really wanted to wait for the note5. I was still ready to get the note5 when it would come out but this phone is not even a straight upgrade from the s6, why did they remove the IR blaster?
By the looks of it the AT&T model supports the UK 4G bands (3, 7 & 20).
My girlfriend is currently in the States and returns in early September.
If she purchased one direct from an AT&T store to bring back for me, how long do you think I'd have to wait before people were able to offer unlock codes for them so I could use one with a Three UK sim card?
Apple here I come!!!
Samsung touch wiz still an issue. Had the s6 Edge which was cool but battery was poor and poor. Probably same issue with s6 Edge + and the price will be another deciding factor..
HTC pretty much quiet next couple of years due to loss after loss.
Moto x just not premium enough.
Chinese phones just don't get to us in time.

Tab S3 - looks to be coming soon.

So I bought my Tab S2 about two weeks ago (and am going to return it).
Rumors are saying the Tab S3, the true update to the S2 (not the 2016 S2 I bought) will be announced on September 1 along with the Gear S3 watch. This is shortly after the Note 7 is announced.
Let's post here as details become available. Everything for now is just rumors.
The rumor I'm hoping comes true is that is has the processor from the S7. That is a beast and huge upgrade over the S2's dated note 4 processor.
I hope its true, since i have 30 day to return my 2016 S2, i might consider going for the new model due to the new cpu.

New ones always launch about $150 more than their predecessors.
The way I think of it, the Tab S is the Galaxy S5, the Tab S2 is the Galaxy S6, and the Tab S3 will be the Galaxy S7.
Usually leaks begin months before an official announcement. The Tab S2 was announced in Jul 15 but the form factor and dimensions were leaked way back in Feb. I think it this were true we would have more details by now.
In any case, I doubt Samsung is going to go with such a high-end SOC for a tablet, but hopefully I will be wrong.

For the price (I paid $299 for the 8.0 WiFi version of the 2016 S2), I wasn't going to wait. I'm absolutely pleased with the 2016 S2, I can finally "stick" with an Android Tablet (tried so many, always went back to iPad Mini). I doubt there will be much "lift" from a refreshed Tab S3 -- the usual faster processor, maybe better camera, but in day to day, it's probably marginal benefit. The one thing you will most certainly get is a faster update to Nougat.
I believe it's highly unlikely there will be a S3 this year with a recently released refresh. All of the rumor sites list the specs of the refresh and the model number I've seen references the 9.7 LTE refresh (sm t819).
Additionally the release cycle for the Galaxy Tab S series seems to consistently launch in the summer, with the refresh released this summer I out the chances of seeing a Tab S3 between zero and nil.
I paid $340 at Costco for the T813 (9.7") and it came with the Samsung book cover ($70 on Sammys website), so it was definitely a good deal. This recent price drop makes me think they are clearing out the last model in anticipation of the new one. Costco is where that 90 day return comes from, so I'll be unrooting and going back to stock before returning if the s3 is announced.
Bringing it out early September seems to make sense to be with the recent releases if you throw in the 2016 refresh, which held them over a little longer.
I don't see the S2 as being in line with the S6, its really just a big Note 4 (sans S-pen). So maybe we get a Note 5 for the S3. That's a decent upgrade on the processor and probably worth it to me.
I guess there is always something better around the corner. I just hate to be the sucker that helped the clear out last years model right before something better comes out, and makes the S2 drop even further in price. It's like buying a Note 5 right now. It'll be outdated and cheaper here soon....

The model T813 was released in April (3 months ago). That's hardly being the sucker that bought last years model right before the new model came out. Now if you bought a T810 I could go with that, but you bought a brand new model. Same case and aesthetics, new processor/GPU, higher performance in benchmarks, and is arguably already the best Android tablet. I understand wanting the latest and greatest, which is why I bought the T713. That said there's nothing about an FCC filing yet, the sites that mention the FCC filing are all mistakenly identifying the T819 as a Tab S3 and not a refreshed Tab S2 LTE, no announcement from Samsung. Once there is an announcement from Samsung the wait timer starts, which typically is a 3 month wait (June/July announcement typically results in a September release).

I do, in terms of release cycle.
S5 (Tab S1) is great but has some things wrong with it.
S6 (Tab S2) removes some features that were loved about the S5 but still overall a better device.
S7 (Tab S3...?) adds back everything that people hated being removed from the S6 (in the Tab case, maybe the S3 will have a 16:10 screen...? who knows)
Give us a new Note 8.
better accu? when I wach youtube with my 8.0 tab the accu I can't enjoy all the day (or even 8 hours) of my nice tab
Some differences in the new 2016 refresh:

I believe they moved to this CPU because it's cheaper to make. It's on the older 28nm process, which they probably have excess capacity on. It gives them more profit and ability to close out old stock without losing as much or at least cutting into profit less. To me the biggest difference is that the GPU is less capable. I would wait unless you're trying to get a good tablet and can't afford to drop $500+. Then it's still a great tablet if you're getting it for under $350 IMHO.

As I stated earlier in this thread, the new refresh model gpu is garbage comparing to last years's models. I am not a gamer and the light games I do play stutter and drop frames while last year's model played all these games at full frame rate without frame drops or stuttering.
So I agree with the above that Samsung probably used this soc in the 2016 models to save on costs.
Hopefully there will be an tab s3 this year.
Maybe the 713/813 and 719/819 are the new Tab S3. I just noticed in Samsung's list of Knox-supported devices the T813 is listed under Samsung Galaxy Tab S3!!!

The point is Samsung slipped up and called it the Tab S3 internally. Regardless what it says on our boxes these models may be the ones they're planning on shipping in new boxes and calling them Tab S3.
I don't see a reason to release a S3 a couple months after a refresh. Just doesn't make sense at all. The S2 2016 is $350 for 8", that's a far cry from trying to clean out inventory price, and once again, would be pointless to do so soon...
Yes, I got my 713 for $175 (after CB), due to the price mistake, but I also waited 5 weeks to receive it, with clear warning that replacements within return window isn't happening. Only a 15% restocking fee if you return it. I love this tablet though! I've had a N7 2013 that is on its death bed. Going from a 1800 sunspider score to 580 is pretty darn noticeable!
Also, why would anyone return their 713 and 813, especially if you got a deal for the S2... THE opportunity cost is negligible. Spending a $150 more to get 15% speed bump would be a dimwitted move. Especially if you're mostly doing light gaming, reading, and email. That's why tablet sales are so bad, you don't need to update nearly as often as your smartphone, because you're doing significantly less with it! Honestly, even that is pointless, my N6 keeps up with everything I throw at it...
My N7 I wholeheartedly believe would still been fast enough for everyday use if it wasn't for the age and thousands of hours chugged on that CPU and RAM. This S2 destroys that tablet in specs, that's why it would be so unadvisable to forfeit all that money for barely an upgrade!
Just my logical 2 cents...
Agreed. These new models are a rockin' deal. The 8 incher wifi was 299 and I paid 399 for the 9.7. Totally ok with the price and value.
Another thing that makes me think there won't be a Tab S3 so soon (apart from the obvious lack of any evidence so far) is that it would make sense for Samsung to release their next flagship tablet on Android Nougat from day one and that's not going to be possible for a long while.
