Note Edge 2, Project Noble, Zen, Zero 2 Official Rumors Thread - Note Edge General

So not even 2 weeks ago, the code name was confirmed Project Zero 2(S6 Edge 2 Name) (Note Edge 2 Name is Project Noble), which in Samsung terminology means starting all over from scratch...
From what I've read around on various sources, this is moreless going to be a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge 2, no stylus, single edge again, larger screen, what I'm stumped on and actually questioning is the storage and rear camera, so it goes it'll have 16Gb rom, and a 16mp rear camera, front will be 8mp.
But this also leaves me to wonder, WILL WE SEE A Note Edge 2 this year or just only a S6 Edge 2?
Theres this with no factual background sources and ANYONE can buy a domain name make a semi-pro layout and post speculations: http://galaxynoteedge2.com/, I'm mainly interested to see if we get to keep the removable battery.
Here's a few articles from SamMobile about it: http://www.sammobile.com/2015/04/29/exclusive-samsung-project-zen-and-project-noble-details/ published 04/29, http://www.sammobile.com/2015/05/07/rumor-samsung-galaxy-note-5-project-zen-details-emerge/ published 05/07, http://www.sammobile.com/2015/05/20...out-the-galaxy-note-5-and-the-project-zero-2/ published 05/20

If anybody has any other findings post them here.

Man i hope its not a single edge without s pen. I used the note edge for a little bit and decided to trade it recently for a nexus 6 knowing the new edge would only be a few months away. I really miss that thing. It was a head turner. Another thing im worried about is it being another 400 dollar service agreement price. I got an open line just waiting on it to drop.
I have heard different things. Double edge no s pen is what i have heard the most. But i have seen some double edge with s pen images too.

Well apparently I think there's going to be 3 devices released september this year, Note 5, Note Edge 2 (Project Noble) and S6 Edge (Project Zen renamed to Project Zero 2)

This was just published by AndroidPIT
https://www.androidpit.com/galaxy-n...ter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20150706_DN

all rumors point toward no note edge 2 being released. the s6 edge+ (not part of the note series) looks to be just a larger version of the s6 edge. and like the s6 edge no right or left independent displays. i believe the NE2 was axed because it would be very expensive to produce. i think samsung decided that for the small number of sales it got, and the price they would have to sell a new one for, (which would be north of $1000usd) it simply wasn't practical. my assumption is based on the belief that the devise would follow on the build quality of the current S series, that it would need a huge non replaceable battery and 64 or 128gb of non expandable memory.

Look up Project Noble... That's the Ne2

do you know how many "projects" a large corporation like samsung starts without a public release. the note edge was a "project" at one point . originally it was only being developed for the local korean market. the note edge was never being developed for world distribution. public outcry made it a reality. just because they have a "project noble" in the works does not mean a note edge 2 release is imminent.

You're being misinformed by being ignorant, the articles clearly cover 3 devices, the Note 5, Project Zero 2(Samsung's Starting Over from Scratch code name aka Project Zen) and the Note Edge 2 aka Project Noble. But nope okay obviously YOU KNOW More than me so why not go make your own thread, where you can be right with no sourcing.
I'd go as far as to argue that it didn't sell well cause it was released in limited quantities, unlike the S6 Edge.

calm down, it's just my opinion based on everything we know today. i hope your correct. just look, we've seen leaked pics of the s6 edge+, the note 5, but where are the leaked images of the note edge 2. then you read all the rumors like this (http://www.ubergizmo.com/2015/06/no-galaxy-note-5-edge/) and you don't hold out much hope.

LoL I hope ? you're wrong. I think it would be cool to get a dual edged note, then again I rarely ever use the spen, so I sacrifice that for being the same size as the Note Edge.

It didn't sell well because there was no hype/advertising for it and it had a 429$ upgrade price. Why would u buy it for 429 when u could get a regular note 4 for 129 dollars less. It didn't even show up under best buy trade in program when i had mine. Honestly i think it was looked at as a gimmick and under appreciated. I loved mine and if the new edge doesn't have s pen or independent display i wont be using my upgrade on it.

I know I was at Sprint the day it was released and 2 other people were there trying to get one and were directed to that store having them in stock from another store and 3 T-Mobile stores I frequent were sold out of them.

I unfortunately am under the impression that the Note Edge is going to end up being a one-off device.
The setup and functionality of the edge screen changed with the s6 edge, and unless there have been updates, all I've heard is that s6 edge is more about aesthetic appearance than usefulness by comparison to the Note Edge.
Samsung doesn't seem to be really interested in developing the concept of the edge panel as a full utility to enhance their implementation of Android.
Next to nothing has shown up in their market for edge specific new features or panel choices.
Honestly, they seem more interested in tinkering around with their in-house operating system and smart watches lately.
I am disappointed that they have more or less it seems to have abandoned really developing and exploring the possible functionality of the edge screen.
Right now, it seems like Samsung is just sitting around fat and happy, because every other android device maker seems to have stepped up their game in terms of their respective new devices. You can debate if their good or bad, but at least you can see they're driving at progressively updating and improving their phones.
What is Samsung doing? One step forward and 2 steps back. I could care less about a metal backing on the phone when it means getting rid of adding a miniSD for storage, as well as no longer being able to swap out the battery.
The battery situation might be tolerable, but the getting rid of being able to add storage is a joke. As if adding a tiny slot on the top or bottom of the phone to insert a microSD is beyond their engineering capabilities!?
If device manufacturers didn't charge through the nose for larger capacity "upgrades" it might not be as big a deal, but then at the very least any of their "flagship" phones should have no less than 64gb- especially since they use 4-6 gb for the OS and customization.

No note 5 for uk

I am absolutely disappointed by this!
Terrible move by Samsung for not releasing this in the UK.. Kick in the teeth
Time to think about changing brands
Apparently no 128gb model either. A person on a forum linked a Verizon page showing a 128gb, but Verizon is stating was a place holder for the launch and based on S6 offering one. I guess
a few days/weeks to see if Samsung changes their tune and then months before one could be added to the line up and landed to consumers.
EU actually.
the entire continent is missing out on the note 5, not just the little island in the west.
In fact Samsung now offer more or less only one phone in two sizes and with our without round edges (S6/edge/edge+ and note 5) and then they castrate themselves by taking the note from 1/3 of the world market with the argument that the phones were too similar and they would fear a cannibalism effect like they suffered already with S6 and S6edge. If they would had designed the note 5 differently and had given it besides the pen other differentations like replaceable batteries, plastic housing, sd card and water proofness they could have addressed different potential customers and they would not had the need to withdraw it from Europe.
Almost like Samsung is being mind controlled by Apple, since Apple could not hope for a "better" product to go against with the new iPhone 6+.
What a stupid decision are Samsung determined too cede their market share to their rivals.
At the most it may appear in the EU next year.
http://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note5_will_not_launch_in_europe_this_year-news-13534.php
This article contains an updated statement from Samsung.
http://www.engadget.com/2015/08/13/...d_Classic&utm_campaign=Engadget&ncid=rss_semi
It has to come to Europe. I am defiant by that statement. Even if it will be in 2016.
I still think it's ridiculous though. I thought, I'll skip the Note 4 and get the 5, and then it's delayed by six months.
The market availability of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will vary according to consumer needs and the specific market situation. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will be introduced in the US and Asian markets in August and we will look at further opportunities to launch the Galaxy Note 5 in other markets.

What about the MENA region??
Short story of my day...
"Uhhh, can't wait for the new Note 5 as I wanted a replacement for my Note 3."
Samsung: No SD card.
"Okay, not fond of it but I will survive."
Samsung: Can't change battery.
"Ahh dammit, but still want it."
"Actually just shut up and take my money!"
Samsung: F... you, we won't sell it to you.
(Flips table)
Imo this was a very risky, bold move by not releasing this in the uk. But when you think about it korea and china constantly get phones that the uk and us dont. Im not going to bash them becuase i have an s6 and love it. We all should of known the note would be nothing but an overblown s6. Just like the nexus 6 was a moto x 2014 on steriods. Id assume once sales drop for sammy they will come to their senses and at least bring back an sd card on the s7 and note 6. Not much different than the "flagship killer" oneplus2 with no nfc or the m9 that was just a m8. Not a great year for new devices.

yup, I love my S6, had to buy it because my moto x 2014 broke but I really wanted to wait for the note5. I was still ready to get the note5 when it would come out but this phone is not even a straight upgrade from the s6, why did they remove the IR blaster?
By the looks of it the AT&T model supports the UK 4G bands (3, 7 & 20).
My girlfriend is currently in the States and returns in early September.
If she purchased one direct from an AT&T store to bring back for me, how long do you think I'd have to wait before people were able to offer unlock codes for them so I could use one with a Three UK sim card?
Apple here I come!!!
Samsung touch wiz still an issue. Had the s6 Edge which was cool but battery was poor and poor. Probably same issue with s6 Edge + and the price will be another deciding factor..
HTC pretty much quiet next couple of years due to loss after loss.
Moto x just not premium enough.
Chinese phones just don't get to us in time.
So apple it is.. Nooooooo

People are going to make a pretty penny doing import sales of the Note 5 into Europe I suspect.

Interesting to see how few threads there are here

I think the problem is that they are flooding the market with too many similar devices. The group of people that this phone would appeal to recently bought the smaller model and can not upgrade yet. Luckily for me I am in my buyers remorse period. I am still not sure that I will buy this over the note 5.
i have galaxy s6 edge. i have family plan, i have upgrade available. There is NO "must-have" features that people want to buy this phone. where is the freaking usb 3.1 type c ? Since the screen is big like note4, why cant it displays Main and Edge screen at the same time like Note4 ?
so many ways samsung have messed up
1. Alienating buyers who buy a flagship - then a few weeks later another model comes out
2. prices
3. people want a sd card and bigger battery - and people wont mind extra thickness or better battery life
4. Competition - from other makers eg huawei -who do put in sd cards and decent batteries, and for the prices their
performance is more than decent. for a while notes strenght was the screen size but now others make big screens, AMOLED is not a USP
5. samsung getting cocky by thinking they have created a brand "note" and people will just go buy it....guess what samsung you arent apple!
6. no killer features eg motorola are putting in good batteries and good prices ...
i was upgrading phones yearly ever since the S2, all the way to S5, then the Note 4 last year, but don't think i'm gonna do it this year. i was really hoping they'd put the s pen on the edge+, but they had to separate them. i'm ok with no removable battery, I've had one on the note 4 ever since day one, but never really used it. i can live with no micro sd slot as well, but only if the 64gb version were less expensive, now the regular edge seems like a big bargain @ $750 for the 128gb (-$200 from T-Mobile). guess i'll have to wait until the note 6.
I think the biggest factors are Samsung divide the community with two phablets, there are some awesome phones coming out next month or so by google, and those with AT&T and Verizon learned a hard lesson with the note 4. Which is still yet to obtain permanent root ever...

I think the biggest factor is that very few people have the phone yet.

This would be doubtful.
Last year they released the S6 Edge Plus mostly to appease users in Europe that wouldn't be getting the Note 5. Their records showed that under 20--percent of users in europe the S-Pen and just wanted the Note device for the large form factor. This is mostly why the Edge+ even got made.
This year however, they have decided to release the Edge itself as a larger device. There is no benefit to releasing an S7 edge plus this year. However, we may see a Note 6 and Note 6 Edge. We will be seeing the Note released throughout Europe as well.

What do you mean with that? Do you for fully real THINK that Samsung will release after few months a NEW Edge? Why the freakin' crap should they when they always released their phones once in a year?
I'd say it's unlikely. I feel as if they're only going to release the Note 6 this summer.
Why?
The s7 edge appeals to both s6 edge+ and s6 edge users with a 5.5" screen. If Samsung were to hypothetically make a S7 edge+ it'd have have a ~6.0" screen for product differentiation. On top of that the sales were not that great with the s6 edge+ in comparison to the note 5. Oh and let's not forget that confusing naming convention they're likely trying to oust.

have you ever heard about s6 edge+? it was released shortly after..exactly
I don't think they will... Simply because why make the S7 EDGE is bigger. S6 vs S6 edge were the same size. the S6E+ was larger. What are they going to do make a even bigger one? I don't think they'll do it this time around.
I only discussed this yesterday with someone who said they were waiting for it before updating. I'll put money on Samsung not releasing a plus variant of the S7.
Beefheart said:
I really can't see it. The Note 7 Edge is 5.5" so unless they plan to take it up to 6" as I said earlier, they won't be releasing an interim device because it has a bigger screen. And 6" for a phone is too much. As for the camera and storage, neither is a reason to bring a new device out before the S8 in the first quarter of next year. The S7 has expandable storage and comes in a 64gb flavour already in some territories. Why bother with 128gb when it can be expanded via the SD slot for far less money? And the camera is already the best on the market at this time.
The S6 Edge+ made sense, as for some the S6 Edge wasn't big enough and they avoided it as a result. That doesn't apply to the S7 Edge. In short, holding off because you have a good enough device in the S6+ is fine and makes sense. But don't do it because you think they will release an interim device less than 6 months down the line, I strongly suspect you will be disappointed.

I don't think a 6" for a phone is too much. Look at the Nexus 6. I bet you money they will release an upgraded version this year
Samsung cater for the majority. And 6" for the majority is too big for a phone. If they do release another device based on the S7 this year it won't be because it has a bigger screen. And I can't think of what else they'd release one for. I'd take that bet.

Yes I have. And no, they will not make an Edge+ because Edge itself has already enough big screen. That would be an 6-inch screen and there is no way in hell that they will make it.
My theory, and I have no real reason to believe this but it's what I'd do.
Samsung's new line-up:
March release:
S7 and S7 edge, we know these
September release:
Note 6 at 5.7"
Note 6 edge at 5.7"-6"
Each primary phone (S or Note) has an edge variant. Serves different customer bases while keeping everyone happy.

Note edge was a note 4 with an edge screen.
I never said that last year or the year before Samsung did what I was suggesting they were going to do this year.
I never said this was anything more then a theory, I should have said a guess. It's just that, what I think they will do. Your 'inside' information may be true. I don't know, and I'm not one to claim any special knowledge when I don't have any.
Wondering about this myself, hopefully they don't release a + version because that would suck.

[DISCUSSION] Should I Jump Ship?

I've had my Galaxy Note 4 for a while now and I'm starting to look at a few of the new flagships for 2016. The Google Nexus 6P looks very promising to have and looks like a great device overall. There's also the HTC 10 which will be released soon which also looks promising and will get plenty of development I assume.
Would anyone care to share your story? Should I purchase a Google Nexus 6P or wait for this years line up?
If you want to convince me to stay on the Note 4 I encourage you.

Dude it's up to you
Come get me donald trump
I am personally not leaving my Note 4 until it dies, or if the Note 6 brings back all the features I love that the Note5 **** on. I actually upgraded to the Note 5 and after 2 months decided it was not usable for me so I got a Note 4.
I personally can't live without 4 things the Note 4 has the Note 5 doesn't:
removable battery (Every phone I have owned in the past few years has been run with the ZeroLemon extended battery and rugged case)
MicroSD card slot (makes switching ROMs so much easier, I am a flashaholic)
IR Blaster (this one isn't as big as the other 2, but is still sooo nice to have and I see no reason any phone shouldn't have it)
Custom ROMs (The Note 5 being an Exynox only phone has not gotten any custom AOSP based ROMs yet, only stock based ROMs. Now, some of those ROMs are awesome, and even on my Note 4 I only run stock based ROMs because the AOSP ROMs don't work well enough with the SPen, but it is really nice to have the choice)
I would not buy the Nexus 6P, overall it looks like a good phone, but I am not the most gentle person with my phones, haven't broken one in a few years but I tend to drop them quite a bit and the 6P has some serious structural issues. Look up Jerryrigeverything's stress test video of the 6P on youtube. Huge disappointment for a Nexus device, and at that price.
I am confident the Note 6 will be too similar to the S7, no removable battery, possibly no IR blaster, it will probably have a similar style MicroSD card slot, but if it sucks like the S7 does, especially with the same style locked bootloader I will not be upgrading. The Note 4 is still an awesome phone, and we should be getting official MM within the next few weeks.

I update phones every year but since I considered the Note 5 a downgrade, I upgraded my Note 4 with another Note 4. I am no longer in the business if updating for the sake of updating. If the Note 6 doesn't bring back the SD card and IR blaster and be rootable [must have Viper4Android], I'll buy another Note 4. Samsung hit the sweet spot with the 4.
I used to update my phone all the time. But ever since Sammy turned its back on our community by locking the bootloaders (yeah yeah I'm sure it's the carriers fault don't care) I'll be sticking with my tmo note 4 running on att network. Note 6 looks cool but I need root and want the option to run custom roms. That and I need superior camera and for me note 4 is it. The new modular HTC phone looks interesting.

Is there really a OP3 in the making? The OP2 seems to have less of what was in the OPO
Just this morning I read an article on ArsTechnica (and as I glance to the right, apparently there's one to check out on the XDA Portal as well) on the next Nexus devices, reportedly to be built by HTC. I'd be pretty interested to see what those have to offer before upgrading my (still solid - the N4 is one device that I plan to keep rather than sell) phone. The 6P looks nice, but I'd be unwilling to sacrifice expandable storage... I'm hopeful that Google will allow(?) an SD slot in these upcoming devices due to N's new storage scheme.
Good luck whatever you decide!

If these rumors are true I'll definitely hold on to my money for the OP3. I'd definitely purchase a 5.5 inch OP3. The specs are crazy.

I'm definitely waiting for this beast to come out. I've been a loyal fan of the galaxy series since the beginning, however the phones are too pricey and I need to explore other cheaper and reliable options in the future.
The Moto X Pure/Style is a 5.7" slim phone, same size as the Note 3 and Note 4.
Screen is as bright as the Note 4 in sunlight.
The bootloader is unlocked easily through Motorola and CM/AOSP ROM's are in abundance.
Phone works and is supported on all major carriers, including Verizon LTE.
Other than the Nexus 6P, it's really the only newer/good phone out that is 5.5" or larger screen size and has active development and works on ALL carriers.
I came from Note 3 and Note 4 and am happy with the phone.
Performance is about the same as Note 4 though.
I'm personally waiting to see what the next nexus looks like. Or I might jump on the HTC 10 if I get impatient. That should be a very ROM friendly phone

I understand upgrading every year to a newer model, but why upgrade to the same phone? I am still on Note 4 I got through a pre-order and it works just fine. Just curious.
I've had (since Jan) LG G4, Nexus 6p, OnePlusOne, and my Note 4. All other ones didn't come close to the Note.
The 6p was good, but the shoddy build quality and limited storage was a deal breaker for me.
The G4 was great, but locked bootloader and lack of a fingerprint scanner was blah.
As far as phablets go, the Note 4 is still the best you can get.

Broad question but an interesting topic. Generally electronics and any other trades, there are years/releases/versions that hold value compared to years/releases/versions that are released as an illusion of an upgrade. Generally best value for the buck is to wait. Since from 1+ years you'll pay from 1/4 less to a fraction of retail. If your company pays for it it's another story. Look at any product/trade sold. New isn't always better, sometimes not just worse but actually costing you more than what use you get out of it. Advertisement/lies work thus advancement for centuries. If you are tempted by supposed improvement I say snap out of it & wait, rely on history. If you need a kick to approve your desire that might be foolish, go and have fun with her, since you won't keep in mind that not only will she bite u in the aa but might also shorten your human lifespan. All up to personal preference:angel:
Current(historical) example. I had s4 before n4. General consensus s5 & n5 is a downgrade. Again look at any other product you've acquired in the past(phones, cars, clothes, hardware, software, utilities, services, relationships, etc). There is a heart beat in your heart and scammers have the same rhythm. That is for centuries if you look at any available history.
Lastly is the reason. Why? To be more efficient and productive? Or to up your neighbor that you have the latest?
Can't control your mind's decision, have a coin choose a path for you easy, just flip it
Written with best wishes to you:good:
My original note 4 had water damage and considered jumping to s7 edge. Note 5 was out of the question. But I wasn't sure I could live without removable battery, SD card slot for my 200gb card, stylus, and lastly give up my IR which I use as my universal remote around the house. I had a feeling if I got an s7 edge I would be happy with it temporarily so I ended up getting another note 4. In my opinion, the note 4 is the Swiss army of all phones. I really love that about the note 4.

My gf just got an S7, so like a good geek, I played around with it for a good chunk of time lol.
It's nice, there's no doubt about that, but I still prefer my Note 4

Why would you buy a new Note 4 3 years in a row? The Note 4 can surely last more than a single year without any issues.

Tab S4 is coming

Looks like it could be upgrade time, (if the price is right of course.)

Who's tempted?
No mention of 8" version though :crying:
Only if my S2 dies. Right now it is running fine and meeting all of my needs. It's only 16 months old. Besides, given past experience the the introductory price will be too high.
I'm curious about new products because the current sale on S2 and S3 tablets seems to be a clearance.
I bought two more Tab S2s (T813s) just last month. Its more important to me to have the ability to run Lineage than the latest hardware. So no a Tab S4 really doesn't interest me unless I see some development for it. Based on how the other new Samsung phones / devices have been, I'm not holding my breath.
Bought my S2 in December 2015.
Still running perfectly fine.
Especially I like the very low weight which adds to the universal usability of this device.
Unfortunately the S4 will be significantly heavier, and NO other tablet in the 10" range with <400g weight is in sight... so I hope my S2 will work for another 2 years...
For me, most of my current T715 is fine, and has been for the last 2 years. On an 8" S4, (not that one exists,) I'd like the same form factor and weight, a new battery, SD835, always on FP sensor and 4GB ram.
Things like a glass back, facial recognition, increased weight, don't interest me.

its a no from me until they start putting the latest chipset on their tablet. I'm not paying premium price tag for last year chipset.
Was tempted but since no 8 so disregarded it. Tried to find availability of the Huawei 8.4 & found none. So got the S2; it is now 2 weeks. I use it for reading books & got it because Amazon had it for sale at $289 which pushed me over. My ASUS Zenpad S3 10 is very nice &, for me, much better than the iPad 9.7; but both are too "heavy" & awkward.
Also decided to resurrect my Tab Pro with the RRMix & have sent for a battery replacement since it was going down 30% in 24 hrs in sleep mode; think it is worst now & will see if the it remains the same when the battery arrives in 5 days.

Man, how much did you pay for them? I want to pull the trigger on one so bad, but I just can't at the current prices, especially when they'll tank in a few months with the release of the S4...

I just checked both the ones I just bought were $349, both T813, the 9.7" ones. These last two were for my wife and son. I believe mine I actually picked up for $299, but that was back when the S3 had come out IIRC.
I bought one on Amazon for my son. Then when I decided I wanted a second one for my wife, they had already sold out, so I picked up a second one on eBay (it was new sealed).
My T813 is still running great, so I'm not really in the market for a tablet right now. Maybe, if the S3 drops in price sufficiently, I might upgrade to it to get the pen, but otherwise, I'm good.

In my country, Indonesia, secondhand Tab S2 9.7 will set you back Rp1.450.000,00 (which translates to around $105). But it has a caveat, the screen has shadow problem (but still, i can bear it for that kind of price!)

Had I found any used ones for that price I might had considered it. In my area most people ask $300 for a used one. (Seriously, two in my area right now for sale, both $300) For the price it would be dumb not to buy a brand new one for only $50 more. These replaced our Nexus 7 (2013 models) which I did pick up 2 of the 3 used reasonably locally.
My play might be to wait for the eventual S3 price drop and pick one up to replace my 0G Tab S.
I'm just praying they will make a smaller model of S4. 16/9 would be a gift as well.
They need to give us an option priced equivalent to the 'normal' ipad and stop pretending that it can go head-to-head with the Pro line. Pen is nice and all but there's just not enough software to justify it.

Yes, but this is Samsung, and they think they are the Apple of the Android world. Arguably, they shouldn't be charging iPhone money for the Galaxy S series either. My wife's 6S plus performs better than my S7 Edge in almost every way, to the point I have even considered getting her a new phone and taking her old one. The keyboard/app lag on the Galaxy devices is absurd for a device costing that much. Just texting from my device is an exercise in frustration compared to her phone or even my old HTC One M8.
The irony is that they could dramatically improve the performance of their devices by doing LESS. Drop TouchWiz, lightly skin AOSP, and maybe do a custom launcher. It's infuriating.
I like my 8" Tab S2 and my S7 Edge phone but my 10.5" iPad Pro blows away any Android device I've ever had (and I've had a lot since Android's intro). Outstanding performance and stability and a whole lot of very polished apps. iOS was difficult to adjust to but I've found ways to do anything I wanted to get done with a tablet. It would take something very special to get me to invest in a new Android tablet again (but I'll stick to Android phones and will continue to use the S2 Tab as a mini tablet).

Agreed on iOS being slicker than Android. Unfortunately, that means buying into the Apple ecosystem, because anything "not Apple" is either not supported, or not supported well. In my case, I use Chromecast devices a lot, especially the Chromecast Audio. While there are a few apps for casting to them on iOS, none of them are great (save for VLC, which isn't iOS specific). The alternative would be to replace all those devices with AppleTVs, which would be prohibitively expensive at the moment.
Of course, I'm a power user, so iOS is a poor fit for me anyway. I like that I can setup impromptu servers to move files back and forth between my Android devices, that I can run a different launcher (almost invariably Nova launcher), etc. In fact, the biggest thing keeping me on Android is the fact that I can move files around trivially between devices or servers without having to deal with iTunes or some other app. Just trying to organize music, video, and e-books on my iPad was enough to make me switch to the Tab S2 in the first place.
Every time I get fed up with Android's quirks (or Samsung's quirks), or I pick up one of my family's iPads, I inevitably run into one of the limitations that made me go with Android in the first place.
