Cyanogen for me the best

I miss PA. I used is as a replacement for stock on my nexus 5, but they never delivered consistent releases on lollipop and with the key players leaving to Oxygen, PA is effectively dead. Cm13 is OK, but i miss PA.
I tried a oneplus 2, thinking it would be similar to PA since that's who develops the ROM, but not so.

And as Basta75 said: Cyanogen
And make your own opinion.
Enjoy

I agree it's dead ,it was good back in the old days ,best feature is change DPI ,materialize stuff ,I think it went dead when more and more parts of it became proprietary and with lollipop and mm now it doesn't have much to offer ,but as other have said better roms are out there now ,RR is a good one ,I prefer CM because it's more pure and stable but that's just me
have a nice day every one

I'm still running an ancient release (PA 3.99) on my Nexus 7 2013 as I can't seem to live without full 'immersive mode' (aka 'expanded mode' -- no navi or status, full edge to edge screen utilization) combined with the pie navigation menu. Can anyone recommend a PA alternative that can provide this experience?

Could not stop myself from posting this, sorry I am digging up old threads.
My first 2 phones were of mediatek and no ports of PA was available. All these times I just wanted to at least have a taste of just 2 ROMs- cyanogenmod and paranoid android. By the time I could afford a dev friendly device this project halted.I never could experience it.
The first time i heard that PA was dead, I felt deeply sad about it.
This rom was unique ,i mean how many roms were back then with a halo notification, tablet+phone+phablet config with ability to merge status bar to bottom navbar?
If by chance, any day, this project kicks up again (praying a million times) I swear I will shell out all I can to buy a supported phone then.
Love you PA.[emoji18]
Btw, weird thing is RR feels a little like PA.

Stock ROM :silly:
Pros: The most stable rom
Cons: I hate those Moto Apps, But then I've deleted them already
Which ROM you have use ? And What's condition is your ROM ?
I suggest to post a Benchmark, and Every tweak you use. Maybe battery stats could be helpfull. He is on the Stock ROM!

I've tried most of the roms, but always go back stock ROM. What bothers me this initial lag when starting the phone with most CM ROMs. Also the battery on my stock rom is the longest and with the new update to the 176 earshot is really great
So I inserted Nova launcher and customize it as much as I can
The other Rom I like most is AOSP + 4.2

legorom is beast!!
I have been using legorom since it was beta and let me tell you it has been rock solid. Great rom devs respond quickly to every question and its updated regularly. If you can live without theme engine (exposed mod/HK theme manager v7.0) you should definitely give this rom a shot you won't be disappointed. Check out the community in g+.

I have tried so many times to jump ship with my note.
But i always end up reverting, I dont know if its because i use SideSync so much and CM or PA appear to break that.
I can just not stay on for longer than a day to test it out.

Sadly I just reverted back to a stock base rom (Audax), after discovering that the Mobeam Beep n Go is not working on AOSP/CM roms [emoji17] , and also after some (probably) ram issues wich caused instability.
I'm on Temasek's CM11. Most stable CM based ROM for me. Slim and C ROM had problems on my phone. Would soon try Dirty Unicorn or even LiquidSmooth as soon as it gets stable status.

Tried C-RoM Kang from vikas724. I had some issues, the screen won't turn on and it's bothersome. Temas CM11 build has a few customization, but C-ROM Kang has more way more.
I've used AOSP ROMs on my HTC Desire HD and loved them.
Sammy now has so many little bonuses with their ROMs though. I use Pen Window, Multi Window, 4k recording, Blocking Mode on a daily basis.
Are there available on any AOSP, CM, AOKP Note 3 ROMs?
Could I make a TWRP backup of my current ROM, then install an AOSP, CM, AOKP ROM, then backup that in TWRP, and switch between the two?

You could easily switch back and forth in just a few minutes they are so light and unbloated they load up really fast. If you care about recording audio with your videos you will be extremely disappointed on every aosp ROM. They all record sound extremely low like they only use the microphone from phone calls.
********I spoke too soon, the recording audio is back in temasek's latest test build from today. It should be back for all of aosp in the near future as well*******

Will The New Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Have Custom Roms & Kernels ?

That will further enhance its desirability (especially for those who may not like MIUI). Does having the new MTK Helio X10 processor inhibit the creation of such by potential devs ?

Yes it does. That chip I'd almost as bad as mediatech of the exynos. All of them have closed sourced info and bad documentation.
The biggest issue is that most devs won't touch devices by this OEM so you will get ports at best

I know that the older MTK kernel sources like for the MTK6592 have been released. But thats just SoC only... You need to have sources for the other used drivers like touch and sensors, camera and so on as well to have a whole open source phone.
But have the kernel sources been released by MediaTek itself or were they leaks?

Overview
Pure AOSP for Cancro
Features
- No T-mobile theme engine or Layers, It is just stock AOSP.
- No .dat features
Download
Developer-Preview-1
Working
- Everything (unless I missed something, pretty sure I didn't)
Sources
My codebase is uploading.
GPL stuff:
Kernel used can be found here
Extended Information
I created this for firmware developers, It is for forking stock firmware such as MIUI.
If people choose to use this to port MIUI I obviously cannot stop them, but blah blah, beta software, blah.
This firmware uses the structure everyone loved in KitKat; I will not force anyone to deal with the .dat nonsense that we've all come to know and hate.
The codebase aligns very closely to what Xiaomi uses, and this code-base also aligns with many other vendor firmware.
Thx to: Datagutt, Heheda; co-maintainers :<
Thx to: Firmware developers, the source builders for this device

It's pure AOSP, and yes it's good to work on any device that idents as Cancro
It is designed specifically for use with porting firmware, recovery has been modded in source to allow for this more easily as well.
It is easy to build either CAF or deCAF firmware in this build engine, I designed it to be very easy like CyanogenMod and it does accept CM configs.
HOWEVER IT IS AOSP AND NOT SLIMROM OR CYANOGEN I can't stress this enough, It is AOSP

Yes, my build engine is really huge and has multiple GCC forks depending on the firmware used :<
Neat clean stock ROM. Though meant to for porting and etc stuff. But as a user I like it, it's smoooth.
Everything is great except some minor stuff eg: long Wi-Fi turning on time, WCDMA Only mode reset after reboot, CPU frequency control not working proper with stock kernel.
These are minor stuff and I'm not complaining neither asking you to do anything about it.
PS if anybody has a solution for 3G Only reset would be glad.
Hope I can see a 6.0 ROM by you soon
Also, there's a lag between screen and capacitive keys becoming inactive.. say if I turn off screen and the very next second I touch capacitive keys the screen wakes up.

Hey Guys , As we all know that Android N has been released for the Nexus devices and there are also Custom Roms released already for many of the other devices, So I created this thread for discussing about the Android N Custom rom for our device.
Pls dont pm in other threads asking for N...
The good news is we have good devs such as @Android-Andi , @Ziyan and also the Omni team. They are working on Android N.....so it would be helpful if people stop asking for N....and wait for a while
P.S
@Android-Andi @Ziyan Thank you for your hard work on making our tabs awsome....
Anyone???
Considering that MM is stable as a daily driver, I would rather wait for many months on NN to be stable enough although I'm skeptical at this point for OMAP developers especially @Android-Andi and @Ziyan to release Android N for our device since it's 4 years old now but I'll be hoping for what they can for it to happen, at least. I find MM sufficient for my daily usage already, just an opinion. ?

If you knew about our work in progress....
Hah! You got me there ? Looks like it's possible after all, since I witnessed the progress of Android N on Gnex month ago, so it might happen for our device in the finest future. Gonna say, I'm grateful for you on helping @Android-Andi for dreams, on what we thought it's only just a dream, to become reality (A.K.A Android MM, kernel optimizations for stability, unified, etc).

My 12 yr daughter uses my old galaxy tab2. As kids there is always a competition, who has the latest stuff. We decided, not to spoil her by giving her new devices. However, I upgraded her tab to mm and she was thrilled to be the first in her circle to get mm and that too a custom ROM. She wants nougat now . Stability is not an issue as she uses the tab for entertainment and doesn't mind me flashing it frequently. I do hope u guys Release Android nougat , it will make such kids really happy.
Yes! @Ziyan booted it like a month back(or perhaps the day source was uploaded )
Thanks so much both of you @Android-Andi and @Ziyan
if you thought our tab is old and lucky enough to get MM and N, what would you guys say about a ldpi device like samsung galaxy star running M and and a samsung galaxy s duos 2 running N already?

no one knows. we must wait for the first build.
Excited
I'm pleased to see that the devs such as Android Andy and Ziyan are working on a CM 14 Nougat port for the tablet. I was skeptical if it would continue to be supported, but glad to see the developer community hasn't given it up yet Best of luck, hope to see a stable Android N release in the near future.

I think people saying Nougat crashes more than Marshmallow is a rumor :/ I mean latest updates are bound to have more bug fixes than their predecessors
While I'm really happy with cm13 (with OC), I'm down to be a tester for CM14. The work devs have done for this device for 4 years is godly.
Let's go

When it comes to custom roms on phones that are abandoned by the OEM, it's common that a new Android version is buggier for a while until the devs have ironed out some bugs. Needless to say, N runs like a rock (and rocket) on my Nexus 6. However, custom Nougat roms appear to be running fine on the trusty S3 already as well (although they're not finished yet). Hopefully the SoC on the Tab 2 follows along nicely as well
