1GB users missing features? Fix! - Moto G 2015 General

1GB models of the 2015 Moto G come with a flag in build.prop that looks like this:
Code:
ro.config.low_ram=true
This flag causes a few missing features, such as:
"Ok Google" from any screen.
Chrome's recent tabs showing as text instead of cards when the recents integration is disabled.
Simply setting this flag to false fixes the issue.

That's strange, my Moto G has OK Google from any screen already without doing this. It does consume a load of RAM unfortunately.

I also have OK Google from any screen without the fix.

Interesting. I'm personally not rooted, and I anyways don't use OK Google, and I don't care about the recent tabs thing. Anyone noticed anything else missing?

Google Now

Is it an app? I don't know what it is, but I hear about it and see screenshots of those cards, but it's not on my Nexus 4 as best I can tell. What do?

Swipe up from the lockscreen. Swipe up from the home button. Tap the Google search bar on the home screen. Open the Google app.
All will get you there.
In a nutshell, it's a replacement for the old search bar app.
Thanks guys, I'm silly.
Yes. Yes you are.
Google Now results in a lot of wakelock from Google Maps, as it constantly monitors your location. Wakelock plus GPS usage. A battery drain for sure.
Check if you're signed on to latitude
You have to activate it

Adding Apps to Multi-view Window

In the side bar for the multi-view window, is there a way to add other apps in addition to the ones that are automatically populated?
sure there is an app in the play store that allows pretty much anything to be used in multi view.
don't have my phone at the moment so you'll have to search.

Thanks! Found Samsung Multi Window Manager and it works well.
I think that specific app has to have the feature built in

curious what some good uses for multiview are. I love the idea but I'm so used to switching apps the old way that I don't use it much.

[Q] Custom LED Notifications not working?

The standard LED notifications are working fine. But thus far, I have now tried Light Manager and LEDBlinker Notifications and neither have worked *(and yes, I followed all required steps, like disabling TTS and activating LEDBlinker in the accessibility menu). Anybody else having a similar problem? If so, is this a Sprint GS4-wide issue, or something rom specific?
Also, any alternative suggestions? I want one that works with apps of my designation rather than just a stock list, since I now use Emu for text messages, and it isn't what you'd call widely supported.
Light flow lite works for me. I just tried it. Try that.

Unless I am missing something, it only supports a limited array of apps, not whichever ones I so designate (which is why I had not tried it out initially alongside the other two).. That said, it still seems to be working with Emu (I assume by way of the stock messaging app), so I am content enough with it. Thanks

Dark MMS

Has anyone found or created a dark MMS/SMS for the S5. To clarify I am not looking for a replacement but only the stock messaging apped themed dark. Anyone please point me in the right direction if you know! Thank you so much!

yes looking for stock sms
Other than personal preference for the original application, I've been running 8sms on the ROMs on my retail edition without issue. It mirrors the AOSP MMS/SMS app perfectly without issue, I've had no issue sending or receiving different types of messages. Removing completely, or freezing the primary app and using that app causes no issues either. I understand it's not what you're looking for, but, works without headache and is all dark

Android system webview?

Anybody have problems with this being disabled on new update? Playstore many many people are having problems with v20, especially Amazon app. Amazon app isn't my problem. My banking application won't let me log in. Think there is a workaround or root can force enable it?

Have you tried updating Chrome as I believe it replaces this and should get you working again?

Basically the process is done in Chrome Browser now.

Sweet. Thanks. Can't remember the last time I updated chrome. I updated chrome beta first and that didn't do the trick. Updating chrome itself without a reboot worked.
Mine's disabled from day one
