Problem with bottom right corner of my S6 EDGE PLUS screen.. HELP! - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone, i just purchased a SAMSUNG GALAXY S6 EDGE + and after a few hours of use i noticed a small grey/black mark appear in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.... can't post a pic here because im a new user
there are no cracks just a black blemish. its only small like quarter of the size of a 3.5 mm headphone input but its very noticable.
Does anyone know what this is? how to fix? etc.... if you need me to email the pic thats no problems.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
regards
Anthony

Funnily enough I noticed exactly the same on my day old Edge plus last night.
It looks like a small grey smudge and only really shows against a light background.
It's right by the bezel and about the same height as the camera icon on the lockscreen.
I didn't notice it the first day I had the phone but that doesn't mean it wasn't there, today my second full day with the phone I've not noticed it till I read this thread so I think I'll live with it.

Thanks for the reply.
Someone told me it's screen bleeding?
The phone was a gift for Christmas but I don't have the repciet, any ideas if because it's under Samsung warranty they would replace the device or fix it? I'm not to sure how the warranty works with Samsung.

I don't know what it is but on my phone it's so small I doubt anything would be done about it under warranty.

OK.
I'll call Samsung today and see what they say. Even though it's small it shouldn't be there and could get worse over time so I'd rather act now than later.
Thanks ???

Good luck, let me know what they say.

They said to take into my local carphone warehouse store and they will do the repair as it's under warranty. They said it could be done same day or 2 days maximum. If I had the repciet I could get a like for like exchange but because I don't it will have to be a warranty repair.

I got mine on the internet so don't want to be without my phone for ages.
Wonder if Carphone Warehouse would repair mine as well

Should do buddy. Mine was purchased online as well. So samsung said that carphone warehouse do warranty repairs and obviously carphone warehouse are then paid by Samsung for the fix. The other option is the intercity samsung repair centre but the nearest one to me is miles away so carphone warehouse would be easier. If samsung fixes it direct they said it will take 7-10 days in total.

I've emailed Sammy.
There's a Carphone Warehouse about 5 mins from my house so hopefully they'll do it there.
Thanks!

Good luck mate. Let me know how it goes for you ????

will do!

so if the battery gets weak or dies after 2 years will Carphone Warehouse replace battery with a new battery?
save time going to Samsung store which is about 19 Miles away.

Just as an update.
I decided to let it go and not bother with getting it repaired/replaced.
It's so minor I go days without noticing it unless it's on a white background and the annoyance of a tiny blemish is less than the inconvenience of losing my phone for a while.
Samsung to their due were very helpful, they replied to my email on New Years day and created a case for me as well as giving me all my options, can't fault them tbh.

Another new update:
I decided to live with the smudge until I noticed it was darker yesterday.
Took it into the Samsung shop in Bristol with a copy of my email from Samsung and left it there last night for repair.
Got an email this morning saying my Edge plus is repaired and ready for collection.
That's very quick service!
Will collect it tonight and go over it with a fine toothcomb to see if it's been properly repaired and looked after, but so far no complaints!

Picked the phone up tonight after a LCD replacement with Samsung.
Good job, screen is perfect now.
Sim died when I put it back in the phone though but luckily I was next door to the EE shop so picked up a new replacement

Were you satisfied with SE's service after replacing/repairing your X1?

So I've been reading the "let us file a complain to SE..." thread lately cuz well...you guess it...my phone developed a crack.
Anyway, I did see that some people have been getting "reconditioned units" that look worse than the ones they already have.
So, how many of you guys have had problems with the service offered by SE/Authorized dealers?
Really interested in this poll, since I just let my X1 to an authorized center...
However, I must admit that I am really unsatisfied with the repai time: they told me that I have to wait 15 working days! Man, what was the premium price for?!
I sent my phone in Tuesday and they still haven't received the phone even though the service center is 35miles away from here...
Add 3-5 working days to get my phone fixed plus another week to get my phone back...so I think I'm there as well
I got back the same phone after I sent it in for a software glitch that I failed repairing myself. It got back in exactly the same condition and earlier than I had thought.
My X1's screen started blacking out when slid open, so I reluctantly sent it in, having heard a lot about cracked plastics and scratched battery covers.
I got it back in just 3 days, which is apparently unusual even for SE service here. No extra scratches or damage.
Oh, and they didn't notice the Hard-SPL...
Well - i got my replacement through vodafone so it doesnt really count
Reading some of the Dutch Forums (e.g. tweakers.net), the average time is 6 weeks for Netherlands. Some poor guy waited 19 weeks.
http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_messages/1326523/20
That's almost HALF A YEAR.
Mine had stylus crack, battery crack, chipped case in three places.
4 weeks since I sent it in, and counting..
OMFG!
How is that possible???
Jeez man...4 weeks? How is it that you haven't killed them already?
If I don't have it by the end of next week I'm gonna drive there myself and have a talk with them...
wow....this is pathetic.
some of the buttons arent working smoothly these days..which means i am screwed if i send it for repair
seems im d only one wit a good story bout this..i got my phone back like 4 days
I sent my x1 to service because left-right buttons plus all other front buttons and touchpad were getting dead.i have to wait 15 min and reset phone 5 or 10 times to get device normal.f*ck sake!i am on contract with my service provider.they said i must wait minimum 2weeks just for answer REPAIR or Change.afterwards i must wait another 2weeks for repair or get new unit.i am gonna have big fight with SE.i am very disapointed.i am not gonna buy any other sony products even sony movies films
I went to a Vodafone store with repair service. Somehow they are authorized to repair phones for warranty. I only had to show my phone, they ordered the parts and they texted me when they received the parts. Then I could wait for it on location while they repaired my phone. I think that's a great service but it's more thanks to Vodafone. I live in the Netherlands, The Hague.

Hmmm, yes, so:
- SE repair service sucks
- Vodafone is great
But I really think that 4weeks is the maxiimum amout of time I would wait for a repair, not just a phone repair but whatever else. Never experienced a repair time longer than 4 weeks, and I would have been really upset hearing about 19 weeks!!!
But what about the repaired phone? Apart from Vodafone people, in ehat condition were your "new" phone? can you be more verbose than the poll?

Hmmm, u were lucky. This is what the Netherlands is like most of the time Mine was out of contract, but the problem is not the shop I went through in Rotterdam - been getting my phones from them for a few years now. I suspect it's the guys in NL who bought the service contract from Sony.

Perfectly repaired, but unfortunately now, a month later, I have 3 cracks. The parts are in so I have to go to the store again. I don't want to go to the store twice every month...
Well,
I brought my phone to an SE Service Center around my Corner. The Display shaked a little. I brought it in on the 7.5.09
Those guys sent the phone to the Xperia guys. Seems that only some people can fix it.
Well, I have not got it back yet. :-(
So I called the Xperia line. The told me, that they did not received it yet...
But the guy was friendly. He is now starting to find my phone. We will see what happens.
Cheers

SONYERICSSON or a Network Provider???
Come on, in order for this poll to have any impact or make any sense, it should include at least WHICH Country and if SE direct or through a Service/Network Provider! Otherwise its just hot air!
I waited 5/6 weeks for my replacement to arrive aftre the sound went completely.
After SE took delivery initially I received an email to let me know it had arrived. Then nothing for a week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks and so on and so on.
The tracking website was never updated and I never received emails updating me on the progress. I phoned them all the time.
After 5/6 weeks I received a refurbished phone which [TBH] is in better condition than the phone I sent for repair, no consolation really.
Yea...WHAT tracking site? They never even acknowledged the fact that they received it. I had to phone today, to find out they got it on Friday. Even though I ASKED to be informed when they would actually get it...nada.
Anyway, when I talked to the representative and told him I want my phone repaired not replaced (because mine is scratch free and in perfect condition otherwise) he was like..."OH...we'll see what we can do"
People, how hard is to replace a back cover???
But I suppose it's good business taking good scratch free phones and replacing them with "functionally equivalent" but with cosmetic damaged ones...
@michaelthemage
The poll specifies SE Service.
And how many countried would you have included in the poll?
In my opinion, in makes no relevance what country you are in (even though I KNOW there are big differences between SE service centers). SE Service is a global thing, having an international warranty (at least European for me) so in my opinion the quality of their services should be viewed as a whole.
I for one bought my phone in France but since I'm doing an internship in the UK I sent it to Banbury.
So I do think the poll does make sense and I give thanks to all who have voted/will vote and who told me their SE related stories.
I got a global warranty card with my phone but it wasn't much help when my screen died. It is supposed to be a vip service for X1 owners where you can get a replacement phone the same day at any SE service center. Not quite. If you're in a place where they don't sell it, don't expect SE in your home country to send one to the service center you're visiting, they will not, period. And if you look close at the support site there's a somewhat hidden page that shows country by country what is (not-) available.
I shipped it off with fedex to the dealer, who said they will send one in return asap if I paid the courier. It cost me about 100 usd. When they received it, they changed their mind and said they needed the original box and booklets... and they couldn't just replace the phone (ten days since I bought it) and let me send the stuff when I returned home. Cheers...
That said, when I could deliver the box I got a new phone right away from the dealer. SE had no desire to help at all.
I don't like buying phones from operators, rather be free to choose who bills me for the calls, but if the operators service team are better at customer care, I may just do that next time.

UK Samsung Service Centres for fixing Newton Rings issue

Hi all
I just want to get a rough estimate of number of who has sent thier galaxy tab to a UK based service centre when they bought thier tab in the UK to fix the newton ring issue.
My questions are:
Did they fix it?
How long did it take?
Which Service Centre?
This is just to see how many tabs were fixed by service centres and to see if they have the equipment/ software to do it
I have sent my to A Nova Norwich on the 18th Augest. Been calling every week First they said they don't have the equipment to do it, waiting for MPI. Now they saying they are waiting for software to do it.
Regards
Mine has been gone a week and I already miss the bugger. At work it takes me twice as long to do things and I need it back asap. Told them this on the phone yesterday and they said they will call them and hopefully get it sent out via Currier. If they play up with this I will demand a refund and get a Sony tablet S.
I returned mine to Currys yesterday for this exact reason.
The woman in the store said they have had 2 other returns and both of their in store displays have the same issue.
Thinking about getting an Archos G9 8.0in.
1.5Ghz Texas Instruments CPU which aparantly Google has already given the green light for Ice Cream Sandwich, expandable memory, standard ports.
Ok, it's a bit thicker than the Samsung but it could be a decent little tab?
Going to wait and see it in the flesh and read some reviews though.
Sent from my Amiga 500 using Workbench!
Hi all
So it's been more than 28 days and still no fix from service centre. I called Samsung and they offered a Replacement but it's going to take 28 days!!! Any one else managed to get their fixed by a service centre?
I have just had an update. My repair case was closed with the status, closed none defect.
When i called up they said it was an error on my part. Brilliant!!!
I also had that problem. They closed it saying its not a defect. they had it for 1 week and then it was closed. So far I dont think any where in the UK a service centre has actually fixed a samsung galaxy tab

So did you get it back with the same default? I'm currently pestering their Facebook page, complaints department etc. If you don't mind me asking what did you do in the end?

EDIT: sorry i just saw your post above mine. Did you accept the replacement and how did they manage to get them to give you one?
Yes i accepted the replacement but have not received it. going to take 28 days. also they mentioned there is no way of tracking the exchange progress.
I called samsung customer services to chase up daily/weekly and they mentioned if after 28 days the tab was not fixed by the service centre they will offer a exchange. I suggest you call up samsung and make sure the service centre doesnt send you back the tab unless its fixed. otherwise you have to send it back again. while on the phone with samsung get them to give you the number for the service centre so you can call them directly to find out whats happening
Andy
My mate had the newton rings, took it back to PC World where he bought it, they gave him a new one there and then.
He's had the new one since the end of last week and the same thing's happened.
Result. After a bit of moaning they have agreed to replace it. However it will take up to 28 days BO!
Well thats sort of good news. Just need to wait now...
Still no reports of UK service centre fixing galaxy tabs
Just recieved my exchanged samsung galaxy tab. no issue so far.

Dude can you keep us posted whether it stays that way - ie no rings or streaks appearing after a certain period of time etc.
It may be they have fixed the issue permanently and you got one of the fixed units, as opposed to getting a replacement unit from the same batch as all the others with this problem, and that have the same problem either upon receiving the replacement or up to a week or so after getting it...
I just want to know because if they have finally really fixed it then I will take mine in to have the screen replaced under warranty (although I would prefer a completely new unit)
They send me a new unit. Box was unopened. so far no issue only get it when pressing hard. even when i press hard the oil slick shows very very faintly hardly noticable and disappears when you stop pressing.
Im just about to send my 10.1 back to the UK centre. It has about a 2.5" newton ring oil slick in the middle of the screen, but even worse after about an hour of use the screen display starts to corrupt. A lot of the whites start getting flickering pink lines across it and colours bleed into others. Putting it into standby for a while fixes it for a bit, but extended use causes the issue again
How did you guys send yours back? In the original box?
I sent mine with orginal box. without cables and charger etc. when they sent me a new one it came with these aswell so i got spare cable and charger
I haven't sent mine back but it has now seemed to resolve itself, haven't had rings for a week now. Last time I got them it was while the tab was on charge and I was watching 2 episodes of the gadget show !
I received my replacement tab on Friday. Originally I wasn't happy as I had a white one and they sebt a black one. However ot turns out they sent me the "soft black" one and I love it. It feels like a much better build quality.
I sent mine back on its own and i received a newly boxed one; so i now have double accesories.
Look at S/N... RxxBy.....
What is on 5th place? 7, 8 or 9 ???
I had a B7 now I have a B9

Screen crapped out within a week.

Had my Note for exactly one week when yesterday I woke up, turn on my Note and notice a big green line going down the left side of the screen. The rest of the screen is now very dim and barely readable even with the screen brightness cranked up to the max. Did battery pull, then factory reset with no success. Never dropped the phone, I haven't rooted the phone, the only thing I did to it was apply the OTA update to 2.36 the day I got it. Everything else is stock, so it seems to be a hardware issue.
Got the Note through a 3rd party reseller on Amazon.com. When I called them about it they said I had to go thru Samsung warranty and they will only exchange the item if it was broken the first time I tried to turn it on. So I guess I'm on my own.
Called Samsung warranty and was told that since it was an international phone it is not supported by Samsung USA. So it appears I am SOL.
ExpansysUSA on the other hand has a 15 day return policy for any issues and they will help you deal with warranty after the 15 day window is up.
Needless to say I'm depressed...Any suggestions for a course of action is appreciated.
Thanks everybody.
only thing i can think of is if you can still get a squaretrade warranty. I think you may have to wait 60 days before they'll accept a claim, but it may be a better option than having an expensive paper weight.

Ask the seller where he purchased the phone from, ship your Note to Samsung in the country of origin. If he bought it in HK, send it to samsung in HK.
They won't be able to tell you it's an international purchase, you are allowed to travel the world with your phone and keep your warranty.

I agree. I had a Polish version from hantec. It had about 3 dead pixels with a line going through them (green colour). Called up Samsung UK and they said I had to contact handtec.
IM sure if you call up the skewing branch where your note is from, you can always send it back to them to get a replacement if you have only had the phone for less than 28 days.

I'll ask them about it again today when their customer service lines open. The lady that I talked to yesterday coulldn't tell me where they got it from and said that I should ask Samsung International. Hopefully I get someone a little more capable on the line next time...
In the meantime I initiated a return authorization request thru Amazon yesterday to see if this will motivate the seller to be more cooperatve.
If that doesn't work I guess I can file for a claim next.
Wish me luck...
Wish you all the best.
I heard good things about handtec, but I'm buying a Squaretrade warrenty just incase. Their warranty's only covers up to $600 though. So if they have to replace your phone, they just cut you a check for $600....the warranty cost's $124, so your really only getting $476 back. You can buy displays on ebay already, but I'm not sure how hard they would be to install.
Update:
The Vendor insists I contact Samsung for warranty repair/replacement. Samsung Latin America in this case. Contacted Samsung Latin America and was told that Samsung products bought thru Amazon.com aren't covered.
I'm tired of getting the run around, I'm going to file a claim with Amazon and see if that works.
It is very unfortunate. If something happens to my Note then I am not going to be able to claim the warranty too as I got it delivered from outside the country. Overall this is negative PR for Samsung that they fuss to give International warranty.

Did you pay via Ppal or Credit Card ? If you did, contest the charge stating the item had issues from the beginning that the seller did not resolve. When VisaMC hits them with a chargeback, I will bet the 3rd party vendor will say, OK, send it back and we will replace it. If they purchase direct from Samsung, they can get it fixed. Did the items description explicitly say NO WARRANTY ?

From their seller page:
"All products sold by us carry manufacture warranty"
I paid with a credit card. I emailed them one last time telling them Samsung will not cover replacement/repair and asking that they replace my busted Note with a new one. If that doesn't work I'll file a claim with Amazon. I'd rather not intiate a chargeback...yet.
I think you get 45 days to contest a charger? IM sure it varries by the credit card company

Update
Got an email from Amazon saying that my claim is denied since the sellers page says that there are no returns on cell phones.
I submitted an appeal stating that the sellers page also says that all products sold by them are covered by manufacturers warranty. Even though Samsung USA and Samsung Latin America won't cover it.
If this doesn't work I'll call my CC company and see about getting a chargeback done.
In the meantime I think I'll order a new Note from the better sellers out there. What do you guys recommend? Expansys USA or Handtec?
Try going through Newegg. If it's bad within 30 days they will refund or replace. Otherwise Handtec is great, but if you need warranty ......
You shouldn't be getting/buying phone from on-line sellers such as on Amazon. It's not true that mobile phone (in general) has an international warranty.
You should really wait for an official release in your country.
Do you know the amazon seller name?
I am looking to buy from amazon and based on your experience now I am worried. Can you tell the name of the seller? I had contacted Global mobile amazon seller and was told for warranty purpose you need to ship it back to their office in Germany and they will take care of it.

Well he did say a big green line, due to the pentile display it should be like 1 subpixel in thickness not a "big green line" as per OP.

£300!? That's like 50% of the overall price! Ridiculous.
And yeah...dropped it First time I've ever dropped a phone and smashed a screen. Absolutely smashed all over. It only fell from a foot or two, landed face down on hard flooring.
I do however have insurance, but I'm getting some bad vibes from the insurance company and revisiting reviews on them they're receiving an increasing number of negative reviews. When I took it out they had positive reviews. I'll reserve judgement though until I've gone through the process. They're registered with the FCA so if it goes sour I'll go down the ombudsman route and ask my CC company to recover the premium I paid. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that though.
I was asking about Samsung's price just out of curiosity really.

Thanks for that mate. Worth knowing in case insurance falls through.
Won't help you now but for future reference, Gadget Cover are good. My circle of friends all use them. They always have discount codes available.
At the time we got yearly coverage of the S7 Edge for £65 for the year including loss, excess charge of £50. Used them previously to fix my OnePlus One, my Dads OnePlus One and my old Galaxy S3 (When it was still the hottest thing around lol).

Apparently there is a Nationwide short supply on replacement screens for most Samsung models. So the insurers, which I find weird, have asked me to obtain a quote, send it to them, if they approve it get the work done and they will send me a cheque as reimbursement (less the excess).
Went to the Samsung Experience store in Milton Keynes which is run by Carphone Warehouse. Quote for repair was £190.
Cracked my screen about 3 months ago when jogging home from the gym (1 mile). No idea how it happened as it was in a arm strap and I didn't bump into anything. Anyway went to the Samsung service centre in Surrey Quays, London. £200 to replace and picked it up the day after. Never smashed a phone screen before that. This phone screen concerns me in that I think it is not as strong as other phones.
Actually what i have heard that the whole digitizer (full screen and glass) has to be changed , glass can't be replaced separately.
Just thought I'd drop in and update on my experience. So after chasing my claim for awhile, eventually the insurance company sent me a cheque for £140 (to cover the £190 price for repair less my £50 excess). Not 100% satisfied with the service I've received from the insurance company as the policy I purchased was a premium policy which meant I should have been a day or two without my phone at the most, not several weeks.
Anyway, long story short, I got it repaired at the Samsung Experience Store in Central Milton Keynes (which is operated by The Carphone Warehouse incidentally). They replaced the whole front section which includes the silver frame - which was an extra bonus really as I'd scuffed that in one corner.
Although the price is pretty steep at £190 I can't fault the service. I had the phone back within a week and they did a damn good job on it. As they're authorised repair center the warranty and waterproof rating remain in tact.

Quote for repair was £190.

odd if an insurer cannot repair within 48 hours they should usually send a replacement or pay you cash to buy a new one. Have nationwide phone insurance and they are good.

To be honest, although they came through in the end, I'm not convinced they're a reliable insurance company. I was lured in by some good reviews however more recently their reviews have nose dived. And I quickly realised what was going on. Basically when you purchase the policy, about a day later you're sent a review link for the reviews website they quote all over their website. Naturally, your only experience with the company at that point is purchasing the policy, which is a smooth and painless process. So they quickly rack up decent reviews by asking for a review early doors. The reviewers who waited to review until they needed to claim, have not so good things to say about them in recent months.
My next insurance policy will be a "new for old" policy. That will be the selling point I look for as a lot of the cheaper policies are refurbished for old or equivalent for old.
Looks like I also will be looking into a screen change. I'm undecided which direction to go yet. Best bit is I didn't drop mine I pressed the power button and a small arc crack formed around the button never had anything like this before can't say I'm impressed really.
Original poster whom you with name and shame...
Edit
Seen it.
Gadget cover get a good write up quite cheap also

UK Warranty / replacements out of stock

I was due to have a phone exchanged yesterday but late in the afternoon it still hadn't arrived and received no notification. Rang Samsung for the 3rd time and there are supply shortages (I assume only replacement stock as no doubt sales are more important - this is generally how Samsung operate).
SO if you need an exchange - next week at the earliest. Bummer. Been waiting since last weds already. Luckily mine isn't a critical fault.
I am in the same situation, I've so far been waiting a week and have been told to expect my replacement on Tuesday, then on Friday as I was told they had no stock at the time. This will be my second replacement, the first replacement came next day but has a very red screen that can't even be tweaked back to white with the colour 'fix' update.
You'll know when to expect it as you'll receive two emails from UPS late in the afternoon of the day before delivery. I know that this time I'm going to have to make the poor UPS guy wait while I power the new phone on to check it isn't even worse than this one, because dealing with Samsung is painful.
The customer service is terrible, there is no communication from them at all and the customer service reps don't seem to have a clue what is happening. I even went in to a Samsung 'Experience' store and they had stock but were no help at all, as I didn't buy it from them directly. If I walked in to an Apple Store with a new faulty iPhone they would have replaced it there and then.

Yes I agree but they are slightly better than even last year when they insisted your phone was returned first!
I might to to an experience store as I bought it from Samsung. It is times like this, I wish I'd used CPW (although they aren't really much better but are local). I also do not understand why CPW have 'Samsung' reps but they are unable to exchange. Just stupid. Samsung needs to do some work here...
I've just had my warranty replacement delivered an hour ago which was organised on Monday.

And it is for reasons like this that I think Samsung is full of **** sometimes!
Which model/colour was yours? I notice both mine and bonerp's are S8+ in orchid grey - maybe just that model is out of stock.

Can't say I had any problems. First time I've ever dealt with Samsung support and found it painless. I bought this phone from someone who upgraded their contract and was afraid the original owner would have had to deal with Samsung. But they didn't ask any questions, just booked a replacement to be delivered and the old phone picked up at the same time.
Well I went to Oxford Street branch of the experience store and all I can say is what a poor experience it was. No replacement stock available even though they were actively selling them to new customers and after I rang yesterday asking if they could exchange it.
Apple wannabees that's all Samsung are.
Phone still not exchanged.

I feel your pain mate. Disgraceful customer service.
Its thursday, so I should have had the emails from UPS informing me of a collection/delivery tomorrow but guess what!? Nothing. So Samsung lied, AGAIN.
I kinda understand that they want to sell phones they have but customer loyalty is how Apple got to where they are. Still a big difference between Samsung and Apple.
Why would they expect stock to come in then fail to deliver? Very poor approach.

So now it transpires that there is stock, but only for new business. Therefore I've ordered a new device and will return the faulty one under the 30 day return policy. Stupid.
