Tip for improving performance - OnePlus X General

A post on oneplus forums suggested using conservative governor for cpu to improve gaming performance.
It seems to work with every game I tried.

Dude I swear it works. I know it sounds counter intuitive but it really makes the games work good which used to stutter previously.
You can try it yourself. It doesn't really that much effort.
Even I dismissed it before but when nothing worked I thought of giving it a try

If your game works good on conservative i think you haven't really tried other governors like blu_active, smartmax, elementalX and performance.

I am only saying tis after testing it. I've used enough android to know what works and what doesn't.
Let others decide if it works or not

yea someone on youtube reviewing it said the same as OP. he concluded that there is some bug with the interactive governor in OPX. im using conservative too after watching that video

I tested this myself. I'm running stock rom, rooted and no other changes made. Changed the governor to conservative, found zero lag while playing asphalt 8 at full settings. It's plays butter smooth!

Using kernel auduitor. Surprisingly it shows up a few governors available to choose on the kernel

Those governors are included in every kernel lol

Hi
Can I make root (kingroot), next download KernelAdiutor, install and use left menu to select CPU or GPU, change CPU governor to Conservative and GPU governor to Performance, after that unistall root?

can anyone recommend a governor best suited for heavy use? smartassv2 doesn't really handle resource-intensive apps very well.

Hi,
i wanted to thank you for this fantastic Kernel.
Using it ont CM9 RC2.
I'm coming from Siyah, and Fluxi, but your Kernel just blows everything away. Best Battery Life of all.
And with the upcoming fixes, especially BLN, it will be even better! Good Luck with your exams! And keep up this Good work.
Adding some Screenshots of my Battery Stats, and still 30% left(kernel default settings):
Edit: Added 2 new Screenshots, resulting in a Screen-On-Time with 5h 11m. I'm very happy with that.

First try the default settings. If they are not good for your usage, you can try to overclock to 1200 and to change governor to ondemand or pegasusq..

This was my first full cycle with DarkKnight v1.9.2, and the SensatioN ROM 3.5. And these are my results.
On the phone i was basically using chrome and whatsapp. I have no widgets on my homescreen and used the default kernel settings without changing anything. Note that i have a different non-samsung battery from "anker" with 1900mAh.
I think these are pretty decent results for the first cycle so keep up the good work
Ill continue to test your kernel, maybe also with different roms like cm9 rc2.
This is another one of my longest screen on time. The uptime is just 7hrs+ tho, I think.

Auto Brightness
200-800mhz
Hey, i can't post in the development section, so i'm asking in this thread:
flashed 1.9.2 today and can't disable the LEDs. if i disable them in the system settings they stay disabled as long as i don't lock the screen. after unlocking they are enabled again. hadn't that problem with 1.8.
cache and dalvik already wiped.
any suggestions?
How do you guys get such great battery with high screen time? I have brightness set to auto. Whenever I have the screen on I can see my battery % drop very quickly.

[POLL] Which CPU governor do you use the most?

I know polls existed like this before but I was curious which governors are most commonly used in my gingertiny and incredikernel kernels as there are quite a few options though looking at the list not too many. I didn't put performance on the list even though it's an option in my kernels or at least one of them as it's not great on battery. Feel free to post comments about why you choose it. My choice is actually smartassV2 but there are other good ones as well.
I voted for lag free, but smartassV2 is a close second. I have always used smartass and smartassV2, untill lagfree was introduced. Lagfree just seems to have a little better balance between speed and battery consumption, at least in my opinion.
Been using sa2 but switched back to lag free and all is back to being smooth on ics linaro.

Good read on Gov's.nice explanation of how each Gov scales the CPU under load/idle
Which i personally found helpful since i wasn't sure what the difference between each gov was. Of coarse excluding the obvious ones powersave/conservative etc
Thanks for the read - It's tough to wade through all the differences all over the web, so seeing a single spot for all the info like that is great.
i use smartassV2, it seems to work better than the rest do for me
Using lazy on ics and jb roms, seems just as good as sav2 but with better battery.

After you choose the governor how important is it to choose the right I/O.
It may be worth giving interactive another chance in the latest incredikernel releases.

Logcat for Team Union Rom

Sorry, I dont have enough posts yet to post in the dev thread so hopefully someone will add this to the Team Union Rom thread for me.
Basically, I installed Team Unions Rom after performing full wipe/cache/dalvik and format system.
The rom installs fine but I'm getting random reboots and occasionally it shuts down.
No apps are force closing and it never does it while I'm using it, but can often do it only a few minutes after I set it down beside me as I hear the Samsung boot noise and look down to see it booting.
I've never looked at a logcat so not sure what to look at.
To try to resolve it I've reflashed, and flashed full/small/extreme all with the same problem.
I'm going to try Paranoid Android Unofficial now while I'm waiting for N8010XXALGC_N8010BTUALG7_BTU.zip to come down from Hotfile. Then I'll try going back to stock to see if I have any issues.
Are you having M8010/N8013?
then you need to change CPU governor to "Ondemand", this should solve the problem.

Yep, I'm N8010.
I tried searching thread for "shut down" and found nothing.
I've just installed Paranoid Android so I'll give that a go later.
Is that a known bug?
Thanks for the help,

Yes its a known bug, i also had it with Cyanogenmod, if you'll have it with Paranoid, try change governor.

Scaling equals the governor.
It is known that on all wifi devices you MUST use the ondemand governor with all the roms made for N8000 else you'll get random reboots.
No problems at all when you switch to ondemand (standard is pegasusq).
Have phun
Done. Nice one!

I tried out your Set CPU setup and it was kind of bad, because of the lagfree governor,i did some research and i found a thread explaing all governors and lagfree doesn't actually make your phone "Lag free" it saves battery by throttling it down to the minimum clock speed for a simple task but when it needs more juice it will throttle higher providing more performance, but it doesn't work well as i have had regular force closes with apps like FlipBoard, Falcon Pro and messaging (which force closed alot)
Thanks anyways for contributing

Awesome stuff man.
I decided to install Lupus Kernel (720p) and I failed so many times because ADB wasn't detecting my phone in fastboot and reason is because i use a mini usb hub (it connects into 1 hub and makes 5 hubs) so adb and fastboot dident have direct conntact with my phone and today i had a strange feeling and pluged it in to main usb port on my pc and it worked like a charm,i flashed lupus and i am enjoying it.
I think it is considerably faster that Doomkernel and smoother AND reliable,i used to get random force closes every now and then but now its super smooth and Touch screen response seems to be 100x better,
I also tried out your setup and shadowgun,Dead trigger(ULTRA GFX setting) and MC4 runs smooth at around 50 FPS
Glad I could help!

SetCpu for the Razr M

guys I am rooted on stock 4.1.2, unlocked bootloader an' all that jazz, i used to use setcpu on nexus s and the old droid milestone, does setcpu work for the razr m? any good working profiles without the reboots and stuff ?
All of the 4.2.2 roms I have tried have a settings option called Performance that lets you set the min/max CPU speeds, switch between different kinds of governors, and play around with RAM management settings.

So far the clocks have stuck Meaning once you set a clock its stays there, doesn't reset to default. As for govs and I/O, I use msm-dvcs as my gov and row as my I/O. Msm-dvcs will shut a CPU core down when not needed

Unfortunately I don't dabbled in profiles as I personally find them unreliable. I just stick it at a certain clock and set my govs and I/O. If you want to know my configuration, I set my clock to 1350MHz and min to 384. The gov and I/O I've already mentioned.
