Camera image quality? - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So ive seen a recent video on youtube by TechlineHD about his comparison with the best chinese smartphone cameras and it turns out OP2 reigns at top. How do you think OP2 will fair with the likes of the latest flagships such as the note 5, G4(V10), Iphone 6s, Moto X pure, Droid turbo 2 etc?
Anyone can give their opinions, especially about the details, contrast, dynamic range etc?
Planning to get a replacement for my un-unlockable bootloader G4.

Oneplus camera images are always more into a "raw" yet "potential" side.
The post processing is never that much that it will leave the picture too "dull" for some people at the beginning,
but if you know how to tweak it later, it leave so much room for you to play

How would you say the overall potentialities of the OP2 as compared the LG G4 or Galaxy S6? I kinda have the G4, S6, and Op2 at the moment and I'm thinking of selling 2 of the devices lol.

From what I've seen on videos the s6 has a better camera but for the price it's a really good buy

G4 has a decent cam, but the screen color is deceiving. The photo will suddenly looks dull on other phone display, since G4 screen saturation is crazy high
all phones you have can produce an amazing picture, it depends how you use it and set it up

Stock camera app quality

Hi,
Have you taken pictures with another camera app than stock?
Camera MX (free on the store)

Stock camera
Seems the quality of the pics taken by the stock app is not as good as the other.
I've found that in the market they all have their pros and cons and that the differences are variable depending upon the circumstance, but the camera certainly isn't the feature to be bragged about on this phone. I've found that one of the ports of the Nexus 4 camera produces the best results most consistantly on my handset. I've also often wondered if my handset got the short end of the stick with the camera it has since a lot of other people are happy with the quality they get out of their RAZR HD, though I'm coming from a Galaxy S 2 which takes wonderful shots in comparison to some of the phones out now despite it now being an old phone model. Its the one thing I really miss about the S2.
On a tangent, I played around with a Galaxy S 4 today and did a bit of camera testing. Single shot stuff. I didn't find that it was all that much better than the S3 or S2 for taking single snapshots. The anti-shake setting worked but not quite as well as on the previous devices, for example. That was really all I could test though, since they always have great lighting when you're looking at phones. Quality is quality, but I'm not convinced 13 megapixels is better than 8 the way Samsung implemented 8 on the previous devices. To be fair though, I had it at 9.5 megapixels. 13 restricts you to a 4:3 shot.
I'll have to try out Camera MX now
thanks for the heads up, just tested it out and it does seem a little sharper, plus the FX options are pretty cool too

Are there any "hacks" for the stock cam in the build prop or media xml where one might tune a little parameters of e.g. jpg quality?

Hadn't seen any real Nexus 6 size comparisons but finally found this one ^ and thought I'd share.
Your thoughts?
Nexus 6 is bigger, wider and thicker than iPhone 6+. So I guess this proto is smaller than final version.
Edit: I didn't saw that iPhone 6+ got bumper, so this is reason why it looks bigger than N6.

Yes, that's a prototype and not the same size. The Nexus 6 is definitely bigger than the iPhone 6 Plus in every dimension. And it's bigger than the Note 4. It's bigger than the OnePlus One. It is just a huge honking phone. A phablet to rule over other phablets and crush them.
Use PhoneArena's size comparison tool to get an idea.

It even has a cool feature to calibrate the website so that it shows you the phones in their actual sizes.
The front facing speakers dont look very noticeable in that picture, are they there? If so, i love it! Better implementation than the tacky looking speakers on the 2014 Moto X

They are there, you can see them if you zoom in.
I've already ordered a Moto X, but everyone has a thing in their house which is (almost) the same size as a Nexus 6 and its this: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51VNvHzBgnL.jpg
Its the same height but the phone may be slightly wider.

Camera comparison

Please post your comparisons here. I was just at my local store and they got the S7 Edge. I compared it with my S6 Edge and was rather disappointed! The Samsung guy in the store said it was something wrong with the unit I tested, but I'm not convinced. Will post larger pictures when I get home.

Here's another:
S6 Edge:
S7 Edge:
This is natural. S6 edge has a 16 Mpix sensor, while S7/S7 Edge have 12Mpix sensor.
In good lighting, at 1:1 maximum zoom level, the 16Mpix sensor on s6 will give you more detail.
However, as light goes down, so does real useful resolution.
At less than optimal lighting, the situation will reverse and S7 will edge out S6 in resolution, dynamic range, noise and colour fidelity.
At which point in global illumination (lux) and which point in camera sensitivity (ISO) this happens, remains to be seen.
My guess is that at ISO 1250 and beyond S7 will prove to be superior (with no flash in use, of course).
Here's another one.
Samsung Norway claims it will be fixed before launch. Let's hope it's true! On this one you can see the S7 Edge did something funky with the colors as well (yellow sticker).
You know I feel that comparing photos while can show a flaw in one camera over the other it is not a good way to evaluate if a newer camera is not as good as the older version. I'm sure the camera for the S7 will just as good as the S6. Samsung proved last year with the S6 how serious they were about cell phone cameras. I just think the S7 edge offers a lot of other great changes over last year's S6.
I agree, the phone itself will be far better in many ways, that's no doubt.
I got an S7 I can do some testing with, how to you suggest I should test them to see a good comparison?
Even if we set aside the fact it's faster, I've no doubt that the camera in the S7 will be superior to the S6 in the vast majority of circumstances. And that is the bottom line for me.
I think we should wait until they are released with a consumer firmware installed. The S6 camera have also been improved a little since release.

Galaxy s8/s8+ camera sensors "slsi" or sony imx

I'm starting this to get your thoughts on the different camera sensors in the S8 and S8+. As you probably know this is a trend with Samsung since the s6. This year, the S8 uses either a sony imx 333 or a samsung isocell. Last year the sony sensor proved to be a bit better than the isocell counterpart and 2 years ago this was a real issue with isocell users getting a lot less quality from their photos compared with those lucky ones that got the sony sensors.
My simple s8 has an isocell.

Took some photos and it looks fine at first glance. I'm curios how many of you got the sony sensors and how many the isocells.

S8 Tmo variant.
Kinda disappointed with the quality so far though, coming from a Nexus 6p. Hopefully Chromloop will make Camera NX available for the s8 soon so we can have that good Google Auto HDR+ with Zero Shutter Lag...
Which is better ?
I have the Sony in my S8+ ATT variant. Quite happy with the camera.

g5 plus or wait for g6 plus

Should i get the g5p or wait for the g6p? My curremt phone is pretty ****ty but i dont mind waiting a little longer if its worth it
Wait for G6... Moto g5 hasn't got oreo yet, and the G6 will probably get android 9
Support to the companion of above, I believe that it will come with Oreo of factory, and you will have access to Android P, without mentioning also a better processor, better camera, etc.
Thanks guys, have you got any idea about when its coming out?

Honestly, if the G5+ is what you want go ahead and grab it... If you look at the changes in the G line from the original until current, each generation has pretty massive changes, and not always for the better. One was good, G2 was bad, G3 (2015) was amazing, the G4 not so much, the G5/G5S is fantastic, the G6... well, we don't know but the track record is questionable here.

G6 is going to suck, i guarantee.. and not everyone like 18:9 screens
Well you can get g5 plus on a discount and its a year old model while new one will be bit costly. The g5 plus got a great camera not sure how it will turn out in g6
