OTA Update possible from lp to mm after unrooting?

My gf wants mm so badly, but she does not want to do all the flash work again, plus wiping. Lazy.
She has unlocked bootloader and root. Version B140.
She just received the OTA B181 and I was wondering if a normal update would work, just removing the root before. I know that in Samsung phones that does the trick.
Also: will the recovery be overwritten? Will the bootloader remain unlocked (i think so)?
(Also i just read something about that bug that block the update at 4%, is it the B171 or it affects the B181 aswell?)

Mtk engineer mode and IMEI

Hello everyone,
I just installed a new rom on my jiayu s3 (from a lollipop rom to a marshmallow cm13).
The problem is, this phone was my brother's, and I believe he lost the phone's IMEI while flashing roms.
I fixed this by entering mtk engineer mode, and manually entering the IMEI which is in the phone's box. But now, with this new rom, I can't access mtk engineer mode. I get an error saying "cannot find engineer mode app - mediatek chipset is mandatory and stock rom must be installed".
Can someone help me figure this out?

I don't think full engineering mode has been implemented in MM and N M.A.D. firmwares.

So there's no way to insert my IMEI without engineering mode? Does that mean I have to install an older rom which has eng mode built-in on it?

These roms have no mtk engineer mode by the developers… you can do that with the dealer…

That code he enters is the one for entering mtk engineer mode. If the rom doesn't have mtk in the system apps, the code does nothing :\

Either go back to KK or search for "Maui3G".

guys search our threads. there is a code you type and you enter the IMEI settings. you don't have to enter through the application!

thank you everyone in the effort of trying to help me!even though I'm still searching for a more permanent solution for my problem, I resolved it even without mtk engineer mode on a CM 13 MM rom. Just download an app called camelephone and it's done. Thank you all for your time. If someone knows of this permanent solution, please share with us.

οκ I had some free time and I found it.
You have to use your dialer and press
*#4634#
then you will see that the IMEI settings will appear. Enter the correct numbers you find on your phone-sticker, press save, wait and do a reboot. You are done!!!!

Thanks jonnnaaass for the camelephone app. I had exactly the same issue and it solved it. That is what I do not like about these threads as well. Everyone is just reading 3 words out of the while topic of the thread and is full of useless suggestions because they are not even reading what the issue is. Thanx that you actually solved it yourself and still posted the solution.

October OTA patch [Request]

Hello.i just unrooted and go to stock just to receive OTA and then root again.My device doesn't find the OTA.Maybe of unlocked BL.I read that u can store the OTA on your SD and then it will automatically recognize and install.So can anyone who just receive OTA find it and extract it before the installation?Or tell me where to find it and how to install?Thanks.

Problem with installing twrp

Hi,
My dad today upgrade stock to B596 and he lost twrp. He want install it again but there is problem in bootloader. Minimal adb and fastboot see phone correct. When he reboot to bootloader and enter comnand to flash twrp, cmd shows "waiting for device" And it's all. He waits 5 minutes, 10 and nothing happens. I try install twrp from XePeleato and from surdu_petru. No one can't install. Bootloader is unlocked of course.

@mp2201 No. SuperSu is on phone after upgrade but when I run it, shows phone is not rooted

@mp2201 Yes. In laptop the same problem. With my P8 Lite, pc and laptop haven't problems in adb.

I never had this problem while I was on b596...
If it doesn't work try upgrading again using 4 image and fastboot..

He upgrade to B598. It didn't help.

I installed B052 and upgraded phone to Marshmallow again. It helped. Twrp is installed and works.

Received update notification , when checked no update !

Hey guys ! I have already installed May patch , but almost 8 hours ago i received update software notification in notifications panel , but when i checked in setting >software update . It said i already have the latest software . What was that ? Does that happened with somebody else ?
