Startup paralyzes the ASUS logo - ZENFONE 5 - Zenfone 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I have a big problem in my zenfone 5 , I hope someone can help me.
Next , after the last update sent by ASUS My zenfone is simply paralyzed the logo of the manufacturer.
First tried to clear data and cache the recovery without success ... The only option I have left then was to make an update by the ADB . Okay so let's do this, using the ADB 1.0.32 ( I downloaded here on XDA ) I tried to perform the update with several different firmware , but when you get 55% have to return the message " COMMAND NOT FOUND " and the cell appears the logo of broken android
Please help me, how can I fix this. :crying:

This happens when I try to downgrade the sideload...

To fix your issue, you need to:
1) Update your Recovery to the Latest STOCK version
2) Reinstall your ROM downloading full firmware from ASUS site
The issue is that your ROM/Recovery is not up-to-date to run the update package.

same problem! any solution? can't access fastboot for command "fastboot flash recovery file.img", just adb sideload, but gone wrong in 54%.

have you found a solution to your problem ???
I am also facing same issue while updating with adb sideload..
if you have got a solution please post it..

Have you tried to acces fastboot with the adb command: adb reboot fastboot ?
Then you could try again to flash your updated recovery.
There is a CWM modified recovery you should try.

OK, After a lot of searching i found out that i had my phone Bootloader Unlocked before flashing,
And after that i tried to flash it and i got the error and it wont boot.
From what i red i only have 2 things to do :
1- Get the phone booting but without radio.
2- give it to sony and tell them that it just crashed while i was updating it.(And don't tell them anything about to root or the bootloadr)
So please if anyone knows any better way to fix it please tell me.

You didnt need to unlock you bootloader to use flashtool, but now you have just flash a system.img from fastboot, your phone isnt bricked unless you tried to do an OTA updated with an unlocked bootloader

Try formatting /system and /boot first,
In fastboot type in
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase boot
Then flash this kernel with the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img"

finally flash this system image with command "fastboot flash system xxxxxx.img"

My LG LS980 device is now bricked

I need big help, my LG LS980 device is now bricked currently works only in recovery mode with ADB commands, any firmware I tried to upload I did not succeed

finding update package

assert failed: run_program ("/system/bin/loki.sh") == 0

I've tried other firmware that is supposed to my device with similar result
You may need to restore to stock firmware but I can't figure out the process.
Is there anyone who can help me to restore the device
follow steps to reroot and push loki to device, reinstall recovery. try install again.
before redownload different rom and try to install that, aokp is buggy rom anyway, latest 16th build doesnt boot .

Thanks for your reply, my problem is that I don't understand how do reroot the device.
The device does not have many options, pressing the buttons (power and Vol +) the device enters in a State Factory Hard Reset.
Pressing (power and Vol-) goes into recovery mode and loads the black screen with anticipation for the adb commands
reboot system now
update from external apply sdcard
apply update from cache
apply update from ADB
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
With closed then press the device (Vol +) and connect the USB cable enters into Download Mode, here you also don't know what to do.
When I hit the power button just opens the device showing the logo of LG and the led flashing in green/blue and after a while makes itself restarted
I searched the forum for reroot and saw that need to do some settings on the device to do root, did I forget something and so I do not understand?
Sorry, I don't understand and become tedious but it's my first time playing with the object
so, you dont have recovery now?
"adb reboot recovery" not working ?
Based on what you said, you are able to get in recovery and adb is working, then push the ROM zip file over and reflash it in recovery.
I'm happy because I just unbrick my device by selecting Download Mode Firmware Update and with the LGFlashTools loaded LS980ZV8_ software 13.51097. tot.
Now I lie in my original problem, I want to unlock to accept SIM card from another provider and another country.
Some help to be able to start from somewhere the unlock process?

Help installing a ROM.zip from ASUS on ZE500KL

Hello all,
I really need help for my ZE500KL. In summary, it stucks on ASUS logo and bootloop. I can't get to welcome screen.
It is not rooted, i've never touched to the original system. I got this problem after an update from OTA. The update was not interrupted for information.
I can get to the recovery menu, can do a wipe data/factory reset, but it solves nothing. Same problem.
I've tried :
- apply update from adb but this stops at 46% and failed with an error like E:failed to verify the whole-file signature
- apply update from microSD but it stops and failed without error message
I don't know if there is another way to fix.
Thanks
Bro go to the asus site and download the whole rom nd flash it thru recovery.
M also had a same problem.
So let me know nd which variant u hav?
Thanks for the reply.
When i said "I have apply update", this means that i've downloaded zip file from Asus website, and loaded it via the recovery but the process stops at 46%.
Maybe it will work for a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP but as i know, there is not a working CWM or TWRP for ZE500KL at this time. Maybe.
For me, the stock recovery don't work for loading the zip file from ASUS. It says something like : Unable to verify the whole-file signature, Process failed

If your device stops at logo this means that it boots into fastboot mode. I`ve had a same problem. You can take this adb driver . After installing you need to put in C:\adb file boot.img from archive which you dowloaded from official asus.com, then run cmd.
Code:
cd c:\adb
and last command will be...
Code:
fastboot boot boot.img
try it.

I tried. It doesn't work.
I proceed like this :
1- I've booted the device in recovery mode, connect it to PC and uninstall the device and his driver in to the device manager. I do the same in fastboot mode
2- I've installed the 15 seconds adb ver 1.43. As it is recommanded, I force install of drivers to "Android ADB interface" for recovery mode and "Android Bootloader Interface" for fastboot mode. At this time, adb detects the device via "c:\adb> adb devices"
3-I've extracted the "boot.img" from UL-ASUS Z00E-WW-12 8 5 106-user.zip from Asus Website
4-No problem to proceed with "c:\adb> fastboot boot boot.img" BUT that's all.
--> The device boots, passes the ASUS logo with the powered by android at the bottom", arrives to the second ASUS logo (the one animated), then there are messages "Android upgrading, optimising 1 of 1 app", "Starting apps", then it reboots, and bootloops .... again and again. I have to take out the battery to turn it off.
Have you tried downloading the full ROM image from the ASUS support website again? (yes, download again and try flashing your device again). Usually when it says something about signature verification failed, it is due to the incomplete download of the ROM image (corrupted), or that it has been modified.
Do report back the results.

I's been thinking to this ...
I've downloaded 3 times the ROM from asus website. The download procees has been interrupted because of internet problem but i was able to resume after. I've even downloaded previous version. I am able to extract the zip file to my computer without error like cooupted file or CRC..
I need to know if other persons have the same problem exactly with this ZE500KL because, i have recently done the same thing with my ZE551ML and i had no problem.
Have you tried flashing the previous updates (software versions) instead? Could be a "bogus" update.

I was been delighted when i see this TWRP for ZE500KL http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-2-laser/development/recovery-twrp-3-0-0-0-recovery-t3319704 and it works,
But my joy was so short.
It says that it was unable to install the ZIP file because the ZIP is for WW_PHONE, and my phone is an OMNI_ZE500KL !!! What is this ? Never heard about it before. What's weird with this AUS ZIP file !!!??

Never heard about this OMNI SKU before.
If someone else has the same exact phone with you with a different SKU (perhaps WW?), you could try asking him to backup the recovery.img on his phone for you to flash. After that, just flash recovery via fastboot and you should be good to go.

Stock recovery (and TWRP):
https://github.com/sabpprook/android_device_asus_ze500kl/releases
Guys I Found The Solution For This Problem :
1-Flash TWRP Recovery From The Link : https://github.com/sabpprook/android_device_asus_ze500kl/releases
2- Wipe Data and Cache And dalvik Cache and Very Important (Wipe System).
3-Flash Back The Stock recovery From The Same Link Above.
4-Flash Your .zip Stock Frimware From The Link : https://www.asus.com/support/Download/39/1/0/20/KsY29RCpsJ2bea9O/32/
5-Please if this Helped You Press Thanks! Button And Enjoy.
The Trick: Stock Recovery Cannot Wipe System But TWRP Can.
P.S: You Cannot Flash The Frimware From TWRP ... It Will Give An Error.

Hi,

Thanks

/config and /factory partition backup.

Hi I hope someone could help me with this problem I have for 3 weeks.
My Zenfone 5 is in 5.0 Lollipop (3.24.40.87). After updating from kitkat, I lost my Baseband and my IMEI.
Now I have an Idea, because I've checked the /config and /factory paritions(can be viewed if you mount them via terminal) and they have the folder called Telephony and has modembinary.fls files in it. I think it has the Baseband files in it. It would be great if someone could share their /config(mmcblk0p3) and /factory(mmcblk0p5) partitions so I could test if the backups can fix it. Don't worry, I don't need you IMEI, once it works, I will try to find a way to rewrite my own IMEI over yours and if I don't, I will mess up my baseband back so I won't keep your IMEI and just buy a new motherboard. And also, please tell me what version of firmware that you have so I could go down or up to what you have and possible test it on my phone.
Any help is much appreciated. The backup should come from a Working Zenfone 5 and has a baseband. not from a phone that has the same problem as mine.
Hello,
There can be a way to solve your problem
(this solution also can be useful for any other broken systems)
ZENFONE 5 (T00F, T00J) ONLY!
Required downloads:
Jelly Bean Firmware
Intel USB Drivers
ADB+Fastboot
Offline Update Image Script
Steps:
Install the Intel USB Drivers
Rename the Jelly Bean Firmware file, changing the extension from .raw to .zip
Create a directory for all the files (e.g.: C:\zenfone)
Extract the contents of the Jelly Bean Firmware and ADB+Fastboot on the directory you just created
Copy the file of Offline Update Image Script (sec_offline_update_image.cmd) to the same directory
Shutdown your phone and start in droidboot mode (Power + Vol. Up)
Plug the USB
Assert that your device is connected, check by running the command fastboot devices on a Command Prompt
Go to the directory you created before and run the file sec_offline_update_image.cmd as administrator
When your device reboot again into bootloader, check if there was no errors (the userdata erase error can be ignored with no problems). If there was any error, I recommend you to go back and check if you done all steps correctly. If not, just use the volume buttons to select the option 'Reboot' and activate it by pressing the Power key
After this is done, you can upgrade to KitKat or Lollipop via recovery, just download the update from Asus site and sideload it via ADB.
Thanks!

I was using step from this ( www.windroidica.in/2015/07/how-to-revert-back-to-stock.html?m=1 ) website it shown how to go back to stock rom from custom ROM and it's work for me ( there's a little bit of changes ... i don't know if they fix it yet .... you should install 3.23.40.60 instead of 3.23.40.52 for lollipop ( adb sideload ) , for kitkat just follow the step

Oh Wait I think i see What's wrong .... when you relock the bootloader you put
fastboot flash dnx dnx_fwr_ctp_a500cg.bin
fastboot flash ifwi ifwi_ctp_a500cg.bin
Command Exact Like That Right ?
Because it's for a500cg not a501cg if you want to lock the bootloader you should look for a501cg on the internet , because the website doesn't give the lock bootloader file for a501cg ....sorry

FUBAR - Bricked - Cannot enter Fastboot - Only Stock TWRP

Hello, I am in bad shape, this never happened to me before,
I own a A2017G and I tried to go to Nugart. But every thing went south and FUBAR.
I do not know how to fix it. The problem is that I cannot do a adb reboot edl and option 2 pushing +- does not get me into EDL either.
Therefore I cannot instal TWRP and I have the stock and I get the linux pinguin.
1. I tried to upload into the sd card a update.zip with a stock 09 but the Stock TWRP tells me that I cannot install from SDcard
2. I go to install through ADB , and that gets me into sideload.... however every file I try to update which is large 2.5gig fails and the small ones (recovery.img in a zip) tells mes that I have the wrong header.
What can I do?
Is there a way of sideload twrp???
Thanks for any support!!!
The error I get when uploading a Zip through TWRP from ADB:
Finding update package...
Opening update package....
Verifingy update package....
E: footer is wrong
Update package verification took 0.0 s (result 1)
E: Signature verification failed
Instalation Aborted
