To install without Odin you will need a rooted phone.
To root your phone you will need Odin.
So, either way, you will have to use Odin..

Just use terminal emulator, the android version doesn't matter. If it did there would be disclaimers on their website, like only for android 4.x.x or 5.x.x etc.

dd Install Method (Requires Root):
Download the latest image file (.img) from the download link above. Place it in the root of your /sdcard folder and rename it to twrp.img. Run the following commands via adb shell or a terminal emulator app:
su
dd if=/sdcard/twrp.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p10

or you can just use Flashify from the playstore to flash the file.

@muaaviya If I were you, I would follow lennyz guide then remove KINGROOT, you can probably/hopefully unroot/remove in the app, then flash SuperSU.zip in recovery to root here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133
It may not remove it completely, haven't tried kingroot. In the future only use one-click apps as the last option, if at all. Not the safest way to root, IMO.

Ok guys thanks everyone for helping but i have taken the risk and flashed a phillz recovery uisng odin with a help of my friend and it worked like awesome! thanks everyone and i am really sorry i have wasted your times cuz i was so scared to use pc for flashing recoveryies.

You do know Philz is outdated and not maintained anymore? It makes no sense to flash Philz when you can flash TWRP the same way.

@German Developer it booted properly, but it doesn't work okay. Super SU wants and binary update, that fails when asks to disable KNOX. Also the root checker apps say that the device root access is not properly installed.
I followed the steps correctly, Odin showed message "Passed".
Just to make sure, these is the information about the firmware, device, baseband and etc.

Should I isntall the firmware of the tutorial. And if yes, where can I find the files?

@German Developer, yeah man. All went perfect step by step. But root was unsuccessful. The Super SU is there. I can update it with market. But the binary fails to update. Can't see any apps in the super su. Should i install stock rom and firmware again and try the same

Isn't it easier just to install TWRP and custom rooted rom?

SuperSU isn't working great for our device for root access so that's why it's stuck where it's at. Read up here http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...rom-stock-rooted-debloated-x1575-6-0-t3262242 and restore your phone and install one of these backups and do not use SuperSU to root for now. Sure does! I also just read that... But this way is a safer bet for people that don't wanna mess with flashing multiple files. I myself just want a systemless root with stock recovery which I have obtained finally. Problem is LOTS of posts in these forums are giving different instructions and there is no clear method for everyone unless you end up reading the proper one first.

The super SU is breaking your wifi, that happen to me with the nougat beta, ysou have to use magisk v9, that's what the nougat roms on here are using.

[GUIDE]How to Root Stock Nougat.

1.-You need to unlock your bootloader first. You also need to be sure you have your system image available in case something goes wrong.
2.-Then flash the modified TWRP found here. Thanks to
3. Boot in to recovery.
4.Flash F2fs fix by @tomparr from here
5.- Flash SuperSU-v2.79. Link . thanks for the link.
6.Rooted ENjoy.
thanks to @tomparr for kernel with F2Fs fixes.
EDIT: device boot up during 2nd time. 1st time during half bootanimation screen flashes and device reboot which is common.

Remark for people willing to test things: Guess there is a good chance to root Nougat if you format data as ext4 instead of f2fs. Then the broken loopback device of f2fs will not be the problem anymore.
Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for things not working if you change anything. Even if it is a suggestion by me. I have no idea if you can just switch filesystems on Android without major drawbacks or problems, although I guess it should be possible. Many devices use ext4 for data.

Root and new ota 20170218 firmware

Hi!
I've rooted my S7 using XN Logos instructions (https://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-s7/development/root-twrp-elephone-s7-t3522479) and now I have an official OTA upgrade (Elephone_s7_97_20170218), but in the upgrade note they say not to upgrade if you rooted your phone.
So before trying myself... did anyone tried to do the ota upgrade in a rooted S7?
Thanks!

Flash with flashtools the new rom.. The problem, only can did it on downgrade mode.. And with this the update delete all data.
Then, flash twrp recovery, flash super su with twrp.. And later restore my back up.. Only data...

Thanks for the reply and I though as much.
I'll do what you did, but... I'm a little more then a noob so please bear with me, ok?
All my S7s updates/upgrades where done using OTA, but for getting root I flashed twrp recovery.img then flash the supersu. So now I'm thinking (ok, maybe I shouldn't! )
Is it possible to flash just the original recovery.img of the stock firmware I'm using? If that works, then update/upgrade to the new firmware using OTA and after that, flash twrp recovery.img and supersu. Do you know if all of this will work?
