Help me to decide a nice phone note 3 or note 4??? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, now i'm using s3 i9300....i fed up with s3 due to battery life and shortage of ram ( I heavily debloated the stock rom...still no enough ram )... i want to buy a note device with stylus...i like both note 3 and note 4...I'm from India...so if I buy a note 4 l'll get snapdragon version (N910G) which would suffer badly in gaming performance:crying: ( yes I have seen lags in my friend's note 4 while Gaming )...I'm a heavy user ...I'm thinking of buying note 3 obviously Exynos version(N900) which is Indian Variant....so... Do you guys think It is wise to buy Note 3 in the end of 2015 (December)...I would like to use it for atleast 2 yrs....for me stylus pen is a must...Note 3 or Note 4 ??.....you can even suggest smartphones without s pen also??

Note 3 but not Exynos version .

Get the Note 4 man. Note 3 isn't worth it if you are planning to use a phone for 2 years. I would also get the variant which has better XDA support, if that's SD then SD, if Exynos then Exynos.

yep i can buy note 4 but i play some heavy games and some intense browsing, streaming but snapdragon version of note 4 (N910G- indian variant) lags heavily while playing intense games like asphalt 8 ,mc5, nova 3.....if there is no above issues in note 4...i would have bought it....these above issues made me to worry

note 3 exynos variant would not be better for gaming than snapdragon variant of note 4 in any case
adreno 420 in note 4 can manage about 3-5 fps extra than mali 628 even at quad hd resolution
Plus you would also benefit from faster internal storage and future updates
also adreno 420 can support many extra graphic features than mali 628 to say in simple words
I have used note 4 for gaming and there were no such issues in gaming
gaming in note 3 is good but there are many more options at this price range which are much better gaming opitons

firstly i cannot recommend note 3 for the simple fact that it would no longer receive any software support from samsung. Also raw multitasking(not multi window) like opening and switching between apps is very poor compared to nexus devices. Gaming is good but not great on note 3.I doubt it will be able to play new titles smoothly.
I am a hardcore mobile gamer and I can say that if you want a quad hd device that is good for gaming(good and consistent fps) then you should look at a good snapdragon 810 device , or exynos 7420. No other chipset will give you good gaming performance at quad hd.
other devices that you could look at would be oneplus 2, s6, nexus 5x,6p

Undecided between Galaxy S4 and Note 3

Hello everyone, first of all, I am galaxy S4 user, I have both octa core and snapdragon. I am pretty sad about the poor battery life of Exynos S4(I play a lot of game) and the lack of custom developpement in the i9500 section.
I am pretty happy with the i9505 even if it "lacks" performance(I know, even if it is already a beast with snapdragon 600) compared to the octa core and the future "Snapdragon 800" which will be rumoured to be integrated in the Galaxy Note 3.
I don't care if this device has 1 inch larger screen or something else. All I need in a phone is the absolute performance and the perfect fluidity when using. The only problem is that I am not somebody patient. I have to wait 4 or 5 month until the Note 3 being released. So does this device really provide enough performance that I should wait for it?
(if it uses the octa core, I am sure to not buy it). Thank you for your advice.
Even when the note 3 is out, there will be another beast coming on the way. It's a continous run given the rapped technology progress! If you are always seeking the ultimate best, then you'll have to change your device every +/- 6 months! Maybe even more frequent in the near future!

Be happy with what you have.
There wont be much noticeable performance again.

Yes, but this time, we will got the fresh new Snapdragon 800, I cannot imagin how gaming will be cool on the big screen fast device. It can be good to take note too.

Samsung Galaxy Note III LTE = SnapDragon 800

we've see in the news the South Korea only GS4 with the Snapdragon 800 beast
I hope Samsung release a 800 powered Samsung Galaxy Note III LTE in September :good:
Who else :highfive:
It's surely gonna be in the note 3.
unless there's a better one at that time

ok, there has been a snapdragon dual core note.
The 3 kings of CPU the hill right now are
the LTE quad core Snapdragon's
600 as used in the LTE S4 i9505 and HTC one
800 beast as used in the South Korea only S4
and the
Non LTE Exynos 5 Octa 5410 8 core
I hope Samsung will put the 800 in the Note 3

My wife own a S4 (i9500) and never had a heating problem or any problem at all. Yes it's a little bit hot when the A15 kicks in for a long time but summer in Shanghai is really hot and nothing to freak out. I also sold a couple of them to people I know and none of them have issues. They all love it. I think you highly exaggerate when you say "lot of issues".
Note II/III LTE with Snapdragon 800
I am purchasing the note III that will have the Snapdragon 800!!! I Want it!
I for one would love to see a note II ( a 720p screen) & the snapdragon 800 paired together. Add a custom kernel to U.C. (& U.V. [ but not necessarily along with other performance tweaks]) to around 1.5-1.8Ghz from 2.2-2.3GHz and I believe we would have a device with a great balance of performance and even better battery life that the current Note II.
The Adreno 330 matched up with 2-3GB of ram would definitely handle the 720p resolution with amazing grace, completing task and powering down quicker than the Adreno 320 even in Multi-view. For game play and performance, I will let you use your imagination but I am not referring to Words with Friends or Angry Birds.
I do not use S-Voice. Google Now is my preferred software of choice. I like to have a snappy UI (with great graphics, it is eye pleasing) and wish for even longer battery life when undergoing long periods of heavier use ie: 2.5hr of phone calls then; watching Netflix or a 720p film/tv episode from my sd card while responding to 20-30 mssgs/emails; an hour of HD game play and then video chat before going to bed. I travel often, can you tell? Let us not forget about constantly web browsing to search for the latest updates on S800’s/platforms power draw.
Look, we cannot have everything that we want, trade-offs are inevitable. A Beast of a phone/phablet that can handle the next 2 OS upgrades is what we all are praying for. I’m saying I would love that balance and think others would too. A Snapdragon 800 clocked up to 1.72-1.78Ghz in a note II with S-Voice wake commands disabled should have a comparable UI experience, if not slightly better, compared to the current NII’s and hopefully improved battery life.
Once again, I know this is about the Note III - please no flaming I am purchasing the note III that will have the Snapdragon 800!!! I Want it!
I an thinking of (min/max increase to) 1.5-2.5days of battery life on moderate to heavy use... am i the only one thinking that could be possible using a 720p screen? ... because i do also want the Adreno 320 GPU higher off-screen capabilities for presentations & gameplay
I know,... i do want it all but who doesn't... but what do you think about the 720p idea?
New octa would be better than S800 imo.

Anything above 300ppi is wasted on normal eye from more than 10cm, from more normal 25cm, 240ppi is more than enough. I have note 2 and lenovo k900, side by side from normal distance I can see no difference in black text on white screen quality (white on black is better on Lenovo, that is true). So it would be nice, but by no means a dealbraker for me

Who says 300 is perfect? I was at the local o2 shop and played with a s4 and was amazed at the screen. Ever since Apple started this retina display I always wanted that in our devices. With a 1080p on 5.7 inch it's gonna be just awesome to read and play on the note 3.
Seriously try out the s4 and see how well the text looks.

I say it's perfect. I have both to compare as I wrote @5.5 inch 720p and 1080p are almost indistinguishable from normal use distance. You say it's not, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Unless you put your nose almost to the screen you won't see any difference. Of course, given chance I would take FHD but to pay premium for it? No way Reading books - I do it every day on Note 2, playing games - with current GPU it would be suicide to try FHD gaming @ full details. Note 3, whatever they put in it will have to be much faster to handle FHD, the only reason I'm happy about that is because I will use MHL to play on my TV and then it will finally use full resolution. Other than that FHD on screen this size is useless, companies have limited numbers to compete with, so they up the display resolution (putting further strain on battery because higher res requires faster GPU and CPU to drive it well) or camera megapixels.
It drives my all the closer to switching to Chinese phones - 1/2 the price, almost the same hardware - you can get Note 2 lookalike (although with MTK CPU, but almost equal in speed) for about 300$, of course, no SPen, but that was only an example.
Oh, and you get FHD display that you like so much

[Q] Help Plz...........N9005(Snapdragon 800) or N9000(Exynos 5420)?

Hey guys finally the day has come when i will upgrade to a new smartphone and luckily as i am not short on budget i have decided to buy Galaxy Note 3 which i think is the best Android smartphone nowadays......the problem is that in my country both versions are available and i am not sure which version is better so thought what place would be better than XDA to ask this question......i hope you guys will help me in taking the right decision.
Btw N9000($605) is about 30 usd cheaper than N9005($635) which though doesn't matter but i thought i should share this as well with you guys.
(Both are 32 gb variants)
Regards..!!!
Just watch the N9005, trick little prick if the service provider you're using is on bands 7/17, however the 9005 is a little better hardware wise! I personally don't think you'll noticed the difference!
Go 9005.
Firstly, Exynos only excels more in graphics department and its barely any better then what Snapdragon offers. Also the SD model is more widely available & the carrier choice due to FDD-LTE, Which means better longterm rom support between the two models.
N900 has 2.66 GB of total RAM

n900 exynos doesn't support 4g LTE, hardware issue.
dont worry about the ram difference....they both have 3GB...its how each of the 2 versions reserves certain amounts for the gpu & other systems processes....(not sure of the EXACT things that do this....but i read it here in xda while deciding on the note 3 version myself).... but in my opinion i would suggest you go for the n9005....its a little better in terms of performance...as far as battery is concerned the snapdragon is better as my cousin owns a octa version & mine does considerably better....it has LTE & it has 4k video recording & playback support...something the octa version doesnt....so that means the n9005 is a bit more futureproof than the 9000 PLUS the n9005 has a more active developer support....
N900 is Exynos Variant which means the processor is developed by Samsung. The N9005 is Snapdragon Variant which means the processor is developed by Qualcomm. Overall I would prefer the Snapdragon 800 Variant as performance is much more excellent than Samsung's own Exynos.

The last line can be a deal breaker in favor of N9005 as it would be very difficult for me to go for the variant which has considerably less developer support.......so as of now i am leaning towards N9005!
Btw i read somewhere that Samsung might release a patch which will enable all the 8 cores on N9000......is this true can anyone please confirm this?
Most Exynos users including me are suffering from poor battery life. N9005 users seem to enjoy 9 hours of screen on time, while me and some other N900 users get 4-5 hours maximum. So I'd say go with N9005.

And i thought that due to those 4 power saving A7 cores N9000 will have the better battery life lol...........thanks mate for telling me about battery life coz this is one of the primary things which i look for when choosing a smartphone..!!!
On my personal usage I had both snapdragon and exynos and eventually end up with keeping exynos for myself and gave snapdragon to my sis as exynos felt a bit snappier overall to me but in few games snapdragon had a slight advantage but the exynos was no less in some games exynos was better, and yes battery sucks with latest firmware update was excellent before so you can expect battery to be fixed with updates and if you have LTE in your country go with snapdragon, exynos makes no sense if you got LTE in your region and better development also goes to snapdragon, also today Samsung might announce something about their exynos processor @Ces and my guess is they will release the hmp which enables all 8 cores, though nothing sure keep an eye, so decide what you need, but in terms of performance pick either of them you wouldn't regret
sorry but the HMP patch to run all 8cores have been scraped a while back...so performance wise snapdragon is better...plus i have 2 exynos variants of samsung products at home...an s4 octa & a note 3 octa....dont know the reason why...but they started to bog down after a few weeks of usage....there arent many apps installed on either device, both rooted by me & debloated & running almost the same setup as my n9005...but mine is still as snappy as it was the day i got it :/ ....the current 5410 & 20 were experiments if you ask me.... i'd say the n9005 is the nobrainer choice when buying note 3
The devil's advocate
I'm surprised No one's mentioned how hot the snapdragon version gets under stress! I've never had a handheld device get so hot! No exaggeration, I sometimes worry if I should stop what im doing to allow the phone to cool. My friends exynos note 2 doesnt even get warm. I can attest to the battery life, atm I get 10hrs screen on time which includes reading rss feeds, music and light to medium web browsing. I was always under the impression the exynos version was better on battery, but some users seem to suggest otherwise. I bought the n9005 instead of n9000 because: 1. It was cheaper in my region.
2. To use LTE.
I dont regret buying the snapdragon version, but the performance difference between the two is negligible and the heat
issue really bothers me, so i must vote for the exynos, providing that the battery life isnt noticeably worse.
oh one more thing.. 3g+ is still quite fast and 4g lte is a battery hog, though the speeds are impressive.

Go and have a [email protected] on Twitter, and you'll find something as #UnlockExynos which as assumed can be related to HMP, also if there's no HMP I wouldn't really care, I find the 5420 still great, and yeah galaxy s4 5410 that was a serious fail, I threw it out in 2 days of usage coz that 5410 processor was such a bullshi* but that isn't the case with 5420 but still it's own preference and way to think which is good or bad.
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s4_and_note_3_wont_get_true_octacore_update-news-6908.php there mate....that unlockexynos thing that you speak of is probably the processor teaser for S5 which could be 64bit processor.....& S4 octa processor is the absolute pits.....the note 3's octa is a slight improvement...but i would still say the snapdragon is a better overall package....& thus a slightly better choice

[Q] Note 4 Snapdragon VS Note 3 Exynos

Hai to all,
N910G [Indian Version - note 4] has snapdragon where as N9000 [Indian version - note 3] has exynos octa core A15 [1.9ghz] & A7 [1.3ghz]
Now, i've some doubts, hope experts as well as owners of devices here will clear...
1. Note 4 exynos has 64 bit processors, will it be good for future while compared to Snapdragons one???
2. Note 3 Indian version has exynos octa, namely its octa but at a time only 4 cores will active so seems be quad core performance i think...
while in exynos note 4, all cores are active at a time. So, in update wil all cores of note 3 will run at a time??
3. About gpu, Adreno is good or Mali in note 4 variants according to graphics as well as temperature ??
4. i've seen exynos are 20nm & snapdragons are 28nm in note 4, is dis differtiate note 4 variants too much???
5. In India, note 3 [exynos] costs 400$ & note 4 [snapdragon] costs 570$... which will u prefer me to buy [based on exynos & snapdragon & some what price ]???
6. This is not related to Note Devices,
Is high sar value device is good or low value sar device???
lenovo k3 note has 1.6sar at head while note 4 has only 0.3 at head, so which is good for use??
Thanks a lot....
In a big confusion , help me experts and owners..... Thanks again.....
1.Indian variant Note 4 is not 64 bit.It's 32 bit
2.No they'll not enable hmp in the update as Note 3 is a old device
3.Mali has better games compatibility whereas adreno has more fps as per benchmarks.I haven't used exynos Note 4.Yes exynos variants are cooler than sd one
4.Didn't get you
5.Note 4 as its a newer device with android updates, better camera, screen.Although smoothness wise Note 3 is ahead
6.No knowledge about that

Thanks for ur response Rishi....
I know Indian Variant is not 64 bit,
Still samsung didn't publish exynos variants are 64bit capable...
What am asking is is exynos variants are surely 64bit???
If i bought exynos variant from KSA,
may i hav warrenty in India???
Yes samsung chip is 64 bit but they haven't enabled it & you won't get any warranty in India coz chipset is different. You might not be able to get it repaired from samsung even if you want to pay

Best gaming device, SG note 4 or a device with helio x20 Mali t-880????

I'm stuck between which device to get strictly for gaming. I saw a Chinese device called TECNO phantom 6 plus. The device was released two months ago. The device is equipped with mediatek helio x20 and GPU Mali t880, 4gig ram and 64gig rom. It supports SD card as well. Screen size is 6.0 while Battery size is 4050mah.
Between this tecno device and SG note 4 which will run game faster and smoother?? And for those that knows about mediatek chipset, does it heat up with intensive use??
The tecno device price is same with note 4.
Probably the TECNO phantom 6 plus as it has more up to date specs than either the Exynos 5433 or Snapdragon 805 variants of the Note 4.

thanks for your reply. I checked on the internet about the phone, so far it's getting a positive review. And the tecno brand is well known in Africa, I'm from Africa.
I saw a review of the device where it maintained 11th position on Antutu benchmark.
Though I'm still not convinced. That's why I came here to ask about its processing powers against SG note 4.
I love gaming and it's sure the reason I'm getting the device.

Yes, that is because the Techno device has a more up to date GPU. Which should handle graphics much better.

Note 4 EXYNOS hands down. Extremely smooth and better than Snapdragon when it comes to gaming.
If you find one for cheap jump on it.
