I'd be curious to test out the new Intel Atom chip but this doesn't look much different than the first gen Mi Pad otherwise. Still has 2GB of RAM which is a bit disappointing and the lack of support for the current Mi Pad (no Lollipop or no Marshmallow and no release of source code) leaves me to wonder if this will be given the same treatment from Xiaomi .

mind linking them to me? As far as i know, no official poll or survey is currently ongoing on the scenes (it means that that poll or survey is created by the official developer)
only fan-based (which is us, the users of mi pad)

That's what I'm wondering. Hopefully updates come straight form Microsoft and it's just like a "Surface Mini".
Since it'll have full Windows it should.

Nice, thank you for your opinion.
Can you expand on that? I find misleading information online. In the Xiaomi forum there's people complaining about Mi Pad being stuck at KK, then I found articles saying that it received MIUI 7 (that means LL) less then a month ago; then there's the part of the Xiaomi website with ROM and such and it seems updated.
I'm getting really confused.

The MIUI 7 you read about for MI PAD is STILL 4.4.4. They ONLY updated apps. Its just called "7" on MI PAD. If you search you find MIUI posted ALL of what will get updated to Marshmallow 6 and MI PAD is NOT one of them. Same with Android 5. It will NEVER get anything past 4.4.4. Its been 2 years now. When Mi Pad came out they asked "will we get 5?". The mods said THEN "wait and see ". Today people ask.. Will we get 6?" Mods say "wait and see". They (mods) have no clue no idea what so ever. The MODS on MIUI EN site can't email call ask MIUI for some reason. Yet MIUI posted just what will get 6. They seem to have dropped the MI PAD once it was launched.
Maybe NVIDIA has something to do with this. Well how many TABLETS out there with K1 getting Android 5 or later? As for WIndows 10 on Mi pad 2. It only has 2gb ram. There are FAR to many other tablets that have 3GB or more running Windows 10. And like someone posted about saying "updates and MIUI" in same sentence... haha not wise

its just for the reason 800 mhz isnt used in china neither the other big export destinations
so the demand is too low to produce an extra 800mhz cellphone

Not mtk problem htc one x9 use the same chipset and very similar hardware as redmi note 2 but x9 runs 6.0

yes I have Xiaomi Redmi note 2 with MTK This is last my phone of Xiaomi and also MTK BIG XIAOMI and MTK now DIE FAST all europe now **** MTK and Xiaomi play good in China its all of you got now
I suppose the trick is not to buy chinese brand phones with Mediatek chips. Get a chinese phone with some snapdragon, and you'll have the kernel source and all the updates you want. (of course then there'll be something else to worry about)

Not all the Chinese manufacturers that make MTK phones are that bad, there are some that update their phones (sometimes even if MTK themselves have not updated their sources for the latest android versions) and some even post the sources (Elephone for example) but unfortunately those aren't as easy to get here in Romania as a Xiaomi device, sometimes though you can get a "clone" (not Elephone unfortunately but Gionee and others) of one of those other devices "made" (imported) by a local "manufacturer" (Allview mostly) but then you won't be sure the ROM from the original Chinese phone will work 100% as sometimes they request some hardware modifications (different WI-FI/BT chip, different screen, etc).

Well that is not necessarily true as I have seen manufacturers add different (separate) modem or WI-FI/BT chips even if the SOC already has it included, not really on phones but I sure have seen it on quite a few tablets.

I think so. And it's logical for Asus as our device is over the 18 months window soon after we receive M.

The majority of people upgrade their phones on the average of 2 1/2 years and the companies know this.. And even if asus let's go of the official support for Zen 2 doesn't mean the end of development for it.. As it already has a great deal of supporting developers and their love... Which isn't something that even all flagships can boast.. So.. Don't fret.. And simply enjoy this magnificent phone as long as you own it!
Q2 ???
I will not taste M as i'm gonna turn to mi5
This is awesome news...I can now rest easy ...I wasn't a big fan of ZenUI, i liked the swipe down from anywhere to bring down the notification panel but that was about it. CM13 is awesome i'm sticking to it until the official release date.
Fantastic, happy to hear that official news is out now and I look forward to the image release in Q2. The 2 years of security updates is, quite frankly, spectacular for our devices. Even if we don't get any other OS-level updates, that means anyone who owns it can rest easy to not be long suffering if another stagefright-style issue is discovered or, worse, be forced to buy a new phone to get over those issues.
Good on ya, ASUS. And good call on getting the Google Now launcher to replace ZenUI launcher.
Waiting for that moment....
" Android M is Rolled Out for Zenfone 2 " ...
Thank You for the Gre8 News... :highfive:
That company ridiculous to release an update. We have arrived in the market losing customers. I do not recommend this company to anyone.
Hey, I am happy with what I currently have on my ZF2 so getting the solid news about M is just icing on the cake for me.
I just don't understand all the hating and dissing of Asus, though. The ZF2 is not a top tier phone and we all knew that going it. It is a definite "bang for your buck" piece of fondleslab but it ain't a S7 Edge. For what it cost the ZF2 has been an awesome phone to me and I am one who usually starts shopping for my next one three months after getting a new one, but I have had mine since the US release and am still great with it. When I do decide to move on my wife and her mother will have to duke it out over who gets my ZF2.
It's good to have the Stock ROM but I'm happy with my CM13.
I love how people complain that they bought a $200 or $300 device and are pissed that there budget device doesnt get the updates at the same speed as someone elses $700 device. im happy with this device, and even if this device never sees 6.0 i will still recommend this device to anyone cause its STILL the best device for money even without 6.0.
The new update will be Marshmallow 6.0 or 6.0.1?

Great news. Getting rid of three ASUS apps in favour of their google counterparts is good. Although why stop at three? Browser, contacts, calculator and dialer should join them imo. They definitely shouldn't duplicate the ones that currently have both (mail, browser and music). Getting swipe to google now into their launcher is also great - this is the main good thing about the otherwise overly simple stock google launcher. Hopefully the end result is a launcher that takes the best of both and looks a bit more stock material design than it does currently.
And the 64Bit kernel src too

Huawei Mate 9 leaks in high resolution images 2 days in advance of release.

The Huawei Mate 9, which will be officially announced this month, has appeared in high resolution leaked photos showing the final unit with Leica-engineered dual-camera setup.
The leaked photos are consistent with material that's surfaced previously, showcasing a big metal smartphone with a dual-camera setup, accompanied by a dual-LED flash and laser autofocus module.
The handset is rumored to have a 5.9-inch display with 1080p resolution and is to be powered by the Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 960 flagship-tier processor, paired with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. The Huawei Mate 9 allegedly runs Android 7.0 Nougat skinned with the manufacturer's EMUI 5.0 interface.

Agreed.
Plus, the Kirin 960 isn't much faster as well (for non-gamers that is as the GPU-side however is massively quicker (but current games run just fine on the 950 as well, imho)) and pretty expensive so will hold onto the Mate 8 for the time being :good:
it is all about the price about this one, I am also disspointed with the camerabump and camera modul, it looks not very stylish and not up to huawies recent standards.
I am a gamer so for personally k960 is very much neeeded. The picture abouve I still see black borders against the screen this is disappointing, I think otherwise Nubia Z9 has done very good with this and I wish all other manufactures would do the same to create borderless screen
The leaks seem to be getting confirmed (or thrown out) as the 4th approaches. On a Note 4 (but running Note 7 softwate) and have a ROM'd MediaPad X2 (which was a PITA to update) . So I like rooted Huawei devices with new ROMs so looking at 3 very different devices:
In the spirit of the thread, my first pick
- Mate 9 mostly for the great devs here. Nougat would be a bonus, and hopefully chainfires work can be brought over. Not global (or including 4g then off the list.
- LeEco LePro 3 with flash rebate it is absurdly affordable and reasonably reviewed as a whole. Only 5.5 is a real deal thinker. 5.9 on the Mate much better by leaps and jumps ahead.
- Lenovo Phab Pro 2 out (for ordering) now, but holding for the Huawei intro press conference on the 4th. Bigger (like the 6.4), much less performance wise.
Two pictures from the phone.

Two sensors (20MP+12MP) 4K video + OIS, new CPU, new GPU, Android 7.0, IR blaster, USB Type-C. Good update over Mate 8.
"Porsche Design" will be not for everyone. Especially design quite like Samsung - front main button ... and price of course.

Huawei Mate 9 Hands-on: The New Phablet to Beat?

What was that about making EMUI 5 more like a stock? LOL
Won't complain though. The light filter is the only thing I miss (no root). Let's hope we will get it too.
i like the tighter spacing in the quick settings, finally we can cram more settings in there and use the available space properly
Sent from my Huawei Mate 8 NXT-AL10

I love my Nexus 6p but I'm starting to get the itch. I'm hoping this comes out soon tho, what do you think of the Pixel XL?
How do you have your 6p set up? ... I wanted to put on the 7.1 Pure Nexus but I'm not really wanting to do a fresh reset on my phone.
You got out of Akron you lucky dog haha

Yes, can't wait to see the Mate 9! The Pixel xl is under specs and over priced for me. I'm on Nitrogen OS N 7.1 after a clean install & all is good!
I revisit family in akron every few years, but only in the summer!

Yeah, that's how I feel about the Pixel, but it being a new phone I'm like "man, I want a new phone" haha. This 6p has me loving Huawei. Best phone I've ever had ... I may try the 7.1 Pure Nexus tonight and just bite the bullet of a clean install.

Andromeda CPU throttle?

Hi,
I've been looking all over the Web, here as well of course, and I was unable to find a review on the Soc 855 performance on Mi Mix 3 5g. I'm currently on Mi Mix 2s, with 845 SoC which sadly does throttle.
I'm wondering what the thermal behaviour in MiMix 3 5g is, as I'm considering the upgrade.
It's also my first thread, let me know if this should be posted elsewhere. I just need a good advice before buying the device.
Thanks!

I did not observe much heating. hands do not burn, there is no discomfort. played pubg mobile on maximum graphics and fps
Thanks for the reply. Would it be possible to run the actual app and attach a screenshot of the thermal profile it outputs? Google Play:
CPU Throttling Test
My mi mix 2s gets hot after just 1-2 min (test runs for 15 min) and i get a performance below a SD 835 (that I also own, an HTC U11). I found the phone discounted to about 300 euros and I would buy it if the performance doesn't drop when pushed hard.
Perhaps you can help, thanks in advance!
Here, 15 minutes test.
Thank you very much for your time and help!
I only test 10 minutes

Thanks! This is weird though, there's a big difference between these 2 results. @draand28 seems to behave like a SD 845 on regular Mi Mix 3 (same throttling behavior as my Mi Mix 2S, maybe slightly better thermals, but still same overall performance of ~145 GIPS), whereas yours @animehq, behaves clearly better averaging I assume above 165 GIPS. I'm not a benchmark freak, but i use gcam a lot, and when throttling begins, i see how the phone lags behind, taking more to process same number of frames. That's just an example though. It's a tough call... I really want that oled display and sd 855, but if it throttles to SD 845 level...it would mean less satisfying purchase. Thank you all, and I'm sorry that this phone hasn't received online a thorough performance analysis like most flagships do today!
From what i see his phone is charging during the test...
I will run the test cold 15 minutes without charging, let it cool some time then run the test again charging to see if something change
That would help a lot, thanks!
Here
Thanks, I think I'll order one Mi Mix 3 5G after all. Just one more thing, do you have the 128 GB or the 64 GB version?

Don't even think of buying this one. It does not have any software support. Miui 10 is laggy and bugged and is only Android 9. There won't be any updates

I have the 128GB version.
Is it really that bad? I've read the forums and saw you and other devs working on ROMs and kernels for this phone. So you're not using this phone as a daily driver? From a price/performance ratio point of view, it seemed like the best bang for the buck (5g, SD 855), but software support is worrying... I haven't seen an Android 10 miui 11 rom on xiaomi.eu either...Has Xiaomi dropped their flagship altogether?

Yep Xiaomi suxx with this phone, the hardware is great, miui 10 and android 9 not so bad for me....
I have the phone for less than a week so...
I will try to port miui 11 from mi mix 3 to the mi mix 5g but since i don't really do this kind of things for some years now i will be slow and maybe fail
An andoid 10 beta as been release in 2019 but they never released a final version.

Yeah, the software is that bad. @QuantumShqipe managed to get hold of a leaked MIUI 11 Beta from January but that's it, no updates. I would really not recommend buying this phone. I'm way past the return date policy (bought it in January) so I'm trying to make out the best of this device.
