hello @Lennoard,
Are you did something different like recompile sources and drivers to use in Xiaomi devices or just used Performance Control by h0rn3t in MIUI Roms?
tks

Me? Sorry I'm did not. I'm just sharing.
The place where I grab wasn't any reference to it (including the credits) but there was PORT on it.. .

[Q] Does new kernel include undervolting and conservative power?

Hi there, quick question...
Do the newest kernels also include undervolting and conservative power setting? (and overclocking, but I don't understand why people even want that)
With newest kernels, I mean the kernels from http://oe.netripper.com/files/htcleo_autobuild/
Or should I use the kernel attached in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=746997#
All this is answered in android development. Check ur builds thread. It will telk u which kernwl is being used and what is enabled. Im using shrubcrafts build. The included kernel has overclocking undervolting inckuded.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
ok maybe I wasn't clear (blame it on the dutch! ;-)
Of course I know which kernel I'm using at the moment, indeed it's mentioned in the thread of the build.
However, I can't find any info on the activated options in the newest kernel (for example the kernel of the 24th august).
As far as I understand, someone started adding/changing some lines in some file and recomplied the kernel to have other options activated. I'm not sure, and want to know if recent autobuilds do have those options by default.
Please correct me if I'm wrong!

[Q] Advice for a ROM

Hi guys...
I have a N7 16Gb from october and I think thare's not a real reason to change the rom on this device...except the tablet ui and the general fun to make it!
Well...
I'm not here to ask you guide etc. but an advice.
What custom rom do you advice? many talk about Paranoidandroid but I try it on an old Galaxy Scl and it was pretty horrible and unstable...but on nexus seems the rom most supportend and with much more feature...
Or I'm attracted by the Dirk AOKP that seem pretty good....
Beside this....it's difficult also the kernel decision...
Franco Kernel? or M3 or Trinity? I'm not interested in overclock...
thanks to all in advance
no one?
No one is answering because there are a ton of these threads asked all the time. There is no best Rom or Kernel. Try searching and see what features you like or what sounds interesting and then just install it and see for yourself.
I personally like the Omega 3 kernel, OC is optional and it has just about every scheduler/governor you could possibly want. Performance and battery life are pretty much on par with the other top kernels. I haven't tried any ROMS mainly because the 2 I flashed ended up boolt-looping. So I am using the stock with some pretty major tweaks. I am a DEV on other sites and once I jump through the hoops to be able to post in developer forums I will be posting my own ROM. OC is for people who don't know how to optimize. *cough*

Modaco custom ROM (currently version Jr13) is light, mostly stock, extra features that help me are- prerooted, enhanced power menu, tweaked youtube app for video preload, enhanced quick settings panel, comes with gapps etc.
Modaco cyanogenmod custom ROM (currently version r4) consumes more processing power, based on CM 10.1 so has all its features, prerooted, more enhanced power menu(with screenshot and extended desktop options), tweaked youtube, enhanced quick settings(devoid of vol control), comes with gapps, comes with cyanogenmod file manager etc.
MCR Jr13 and MCMCR r3 are interchangeable with dirty flash so I get to retain all my apps.
M-kernel (currently a33 version) gives me ample undervolting option (lp, cpu, gpu, ram), and I can set minimum brightness with rootdim, so I can extend my battery life.

Don't know why people make thread to ask others what's best rom, kernel... Answers will be different from users and depends what they prefers, so it'll be difficult to make a choice because every answers won't be the same. What I did when i wanted to choose was reading threads and try by myself to see what I liked. Sorry if my answer will not help you to choose but it's the best i can advise you. Hoping you find what best suits you.
Phone: GT-I9100P
Kernel: Dorimanx
ROM: 4.2.1 Vanilla RootBox
Tablet: Nexus 7
Kernel: M-Kernel
ROM: 4.2.1 AOKP PUB
MOD: JusTunBean
Xenon
Im usin Xenon HD its a 4.2 rom (aokp base) and it's very customizable for your likes. You should give it a try.:cyclops:
If you are doing any ROM other than stock, I suggest AOKP for sure. It has a ton of mods for your ui and allows a lot of customizing. Make sure you get 4.1.2 milestone version and get your gapps as well or you won't have necessary files. Hope this helps look in the aokp official thread for download

thanks to all...
all advices are really usefull to understand the mod world...
I was intent to install an AOKP rom, but I don't really understand the difference...
I would like to try the the paranoid but i think is AOSP...
for AOKP I don't know what rom to try...I see the Dirty AOKP but I'm not sure....
There's also one called smooth ROM check it out, you should search YouTube to see if you like it. personally I'm back to the to the 4.1.2 stock rom because on aokp it wasn't allowing me to install some APK's from the play store that i really wanted. it said they werent compatible with my device when I knew they were compatible with n7.. I wish there was a way around that but nobody on here would tell me if there was or not when i posted a thread asking... anyways hope you find what you are looking for and I do suggest checking YouTube first for custom Roms for nexus 7 before flashing over hella different ones it would take less time, peace and good luck!

I`am using the stock 4.2.2 rom and Franco kernel r147 and batterylife and performance is great. Franco also offers good color and sound control. Screenontime is about 5 hours but it also depends on the user setup and usage off course. Btw benchmarks don`t mean anything, real life user xperience is what counts

1. No you don`t have to wipe the device, just flash the kernel and install Franco Kernel Updater from Play and set it up.
2. Rom`s you have to try for yourself, there are plenty AOSP an AOKP roms out there.

I recommend the 4.2.2 Nightlies, these are the latest releases with the latest tweaks and options. You can download and install kernels from within the franco Kernel App from Play. Your device beeing slow can also be caused by ongoing background processes like apps, widgets and syncs that strain the cpu.

Try undervolting, start with -50mV and if all goes well lower each step with -25mV. Undervolting reduces heat and thermal throtling issues. Just press the thanks button to thank someone that helped you

Look in custom kernel settings somewhere at the botom, there should be something about sound setttings i`am sure. Not on Franco atm so don`t know the exact location. Or look on the Franco kernel thread and use `search this forum`in the top right section for sound control.
Try this kernel, it is modified Franco kernel with Faux sound options http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2272140.

So is this a new kernel that is in "testing" and is not released yet? Because doing a search only brought up DiXperia ROM, so guessing DikeJ is working on a kernel, perhaps?
If this kernel is available can you be kind enough to post a link for it?
Edit - scratch that, the only thing I find is an X10 kernel... so going to venture DikeJ is working on porting it to our Xperia PLAY.. as I know he does work on teh X10 as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2345327
This says its a JB kernel, but is this a GB kernel as well?
I'm working on this kernel for DikeJ and his set of dixperia ROMs and I don't have any plans to upload it till DikeJ ask me to
edit: there will be a kernel for each android ROM DikeJ Makes this kernel is for dixperia perennial
Will the kernel work on r800x too?

Possibly since its based on Lupus Kernel I should be able to work something out
That's awesome but when it's ready and dike j says you can upload do you think you can make two versions work one of them having als disabled. My phone als is broken so unless Als is disabled at kernel level it won't work. Sorry if it's too much to ask but if you can do that I'll be very grateful

yeah I will you won't get 330 mb free ram though
Hail the King @extremetempz and @DiKeJ who are gonna build awesome Kernel + ROM for the R800x
But if you give the system, kernel etc. 420mbs of ram, there's only about 90mbs for the gpu/3d rendering(?) left. Wouldn't that cause lag in games?

The 90mb RAM is for the Kernel, not for GPU/3D Rendering - That is done using system RAM.
There will be 4 main Kernels from DXEngine:
-2 for X10 (GB and JB)
-2 for Play (GB and ICS/JB)
But it's not over, cause each main project will have other version with other destination - for example with some features disabled, but better in performance etc. etc. Justin (@extremetempz) is main Kernel Developer for my ROM projects so all credits goes to him - I focused on ROMs to make it best stable and settled with Kernels - trust me, it should do the job .

games should actually run smoother because I've doubled the vram 4mb vs 8m
Edit: if anyone can extract lupus v12 ramdisk because it keeps Chucking errors at me please pm me asap as I need to extract to put the WiFi modules in and change a few things
well i have extracted it its using another format for ramdisk(bot the normal gzip)
i dont have the link i used to know how to extract but if you search a bit you will find it
(i dont have the extracted ramdisk because i have deleted my compiler machine from virtualbox)

Awesome. Hey DikeJ I hope you and extremetempz dont me offering to beta test this kernel for you. I am on GB currently debloated stock on Lupus Kernel v12. Would love to test out this kernel if you wanted to have someone test it out. Either way I am excited to see this new kernel whether I beta test it or not.
Thank you both of you for your hard work and efforts to keep our little device humming along.

[DISCUSSION] Gamma Settings for Xperia Z

This thread is created for every Z user using custom kernels to share their gamma settings so that some beginners or users could benefit from it. Ideas and discussions about the Z's screen can be discussed and shared here as well. =)
Faux123 Kernel Enhancement Pro is recommended to tweak gamma control. (Only with kernels that support gamma control)
Google Play Link
Here are my settings.
Color temp: R-248 G-252 B-255
Gamma: R-130 G-135 B-140
Hello, what does it do? Does it make colors more saturated like bravia engine in custom way or does it even improve contrast? Is it possible to compare these settings with stock one?

It does accordingly to your configuration but there is definitely a significant change. Just make sure you unlocked your bootloader before flashing any custom kernels. You can start configurating bit by bit by referring to my values.
