I'm doing a tally on Z5 series affected by the left-hand blur issue - Xperia Z5 General

I was planning on buying a unit but discovered it had the left-hand blur issue. It was a Xperia Z5 E6683 Rev 2 Black model.
I then tried another one from the same store, Xperia Z5 E6683 Rev 2 Gold and this DID NOT have the left-hand blur.
So I was thinking if this is just a coincidence or the problem is prevalent on a set of models.
Please share whether yours suffers from the problem or not as well as your phones model/color/rev#/week manufactured (there is another tray in sim card tray area, you can pull it out and there is all the device info). and I will make a tally of it.
Thank you!

Too bad Thanks for the info anyway, I'll take note of it

I have two black E6653. Rev 4 from Taiwan and Rev 2 from Germany, both with no blur.

Excuse my ignorance; how do I discover the Rev #?
Green model, bought UK within a week of launch; no left hand side issue. Slight barrelling at far edges but that's normal, as far as I can see - it's certainly not excessive and generally makes no difference.

Dang, that's exactly what I would've decided to do. Meantime, do you think it could be caused by the lens cover itself? Some people in the past got much better shots after removing the back cover! If that's the case, maybe you could try to remove & re-align the back cover & camera module.
TW Rev4 (Green), no blur.

I don't think i have the blur?

The lens fisheyes at long focal lengths which causes it. Pretty normal behaviour for such a wide angle small lense, but typically it's the end of the world on here.
It's something normally corrected in software but isn't currently for some reason. I guess the current camera app only being a place holder has something to do with it.

Perfectly fine photos, good luck you have there!

So far, based on the current tally, it seems a lot more people have Z5 with no blur. Though of course, this is just based on those replying to this thread. and the reddit post..

Rev 2 Black UK unbranded and thankfully no blur

What is the left hand blur ypu are talking about?

Afternoon all,
So yeah I'm loving this phone greatly, but I've noticed something horrible for a phone so well made.
If anyway else owns one can you please check if your headset has a tiny gap ( Im really do mean tiny gap) between the front metal casing and
the cream looking plastic band around the phone. So were the headjack and on switch is . . . .
I noticed it last night and if I press the back and front together the gap closes.
After speaking to P4U they said no one else has rang in with such problem and they said they would exchange it wen more arrive in stock.
I ended up going in store were I discover they ave one there but is a pre ordered handset. The guy did open it up and checked both handsets.
They new one did also have a tiny gap but not as bad?
Bit shocked as I havent really used the phone alot as Im still using my S3 till I pay my contract off.
Anyone else got this?7
Cheers
Re: HTC One Owners check it out!
I have read somewhere 2 weeks ago it is a problem for some demo set. But seems it existing on retail phone now. Also I heard iphone5 has such problem but people think it acceptable.
So maybe other users can give their view.
And you would better to have a clear photo upload others can judge.

There was another thread on this exact issue. It is very small, but then again these phones aren't exacty cheap. So should be uniform all around.

Re: HTC One Owners check it out!
I got mine today, have looked but not used the phone yet. On both the top and bottom, I can squeeze and a hairline gap will come together, but I don't think this is a problem really. It is negligible and it probably won't have any impact at all, the phone still seems premium and solid in the hand, and it is not like they advertise it as being waterproof or anything in which case this would be an issue.

I have a slight gap on the top, nowhere else though, and its very slight, I keep a case on it at all times though, so no big issue
Ive put two links to photos I took. Hopefully the links work. One is with gap and then me pushing the edges together . . .

This gap may be engineered to provide for thermal expansion differences between glass and aluminum
Definitely looks like a defect to me. Lint, dust, water etc could all get in there very easily and cause problems down the line. I'd get it replaced.

My mates htc one had zero gap all the way around.
Yeah I maybe abit paranoid on this matter. After seeing the other newly opened htc one and seeing that also had a little gap then I though maybe
its just the way its made. I will see hopefully thursday if more come into stock.
Re: HTC One Owners check it out!
If I'm looking at the same thing is u on top of the phone theres a very very small gap between the metal casing and plastic filler.
Can't see I'm bothered about a gap of 0.25mm though. I don't think I'd ever want a replacement.

New Factory Packaging Method?

So long story short, I'm on my third note 3 due to defects in the first two. When I received this note 3 however, I noticed that there was plastic on the sides and on the camera lens, in addition to the plastic on the front and back. Was just curious if Samsung changed something or if this is how they are supposed to come and the stores just remove the plastic before selling the device. I know its trivial, but I am always curious
Edit: If this belongs in general, can a Mod please help me move the thread? Thanks!
Just curious, what where the defects? My camera wont focus properly but I'm thinking that's more of a software issue.

First one had issues with spen pen accuracy and sensitivity. The second one had a poor chrome finish, parts of the trim were not painted properly, exposing the black underneath.
As far as the camera goes, does it have issues when you tap to focus or when you hit the camera button, then it tries to focus?
Both. It rarely focuses properly and once I finally get it to focus and snap a picture it blurs before taking the shot.
Mainly on close-up shots.

When I got mine at the store It didn't have plastic on the side but in some unboxing videos I have seen they did. So it could be that in store they are taking some of the plastic off. Not sure why though.

Ditto to this.
Had the same issue on trying to get it to focus on some close up pictures [of food, I know, I know,...] I was taking last night in low level light.
It takes amazing pictures when there is enough light, but terrible ones in low light with a hard time to focus to tap.
Tried installing other camera apps [Camera 360] and didn't notice any improvement,...yet.
Bought mine from Best Buy and, yes, it did have all the plastic protective pieces. The one on the camera had a cut out so the camera was completely usable even with the plastic on. I bought mine on launch day, so I'm assuming that's the way they all were supposed to ship.
No complaints about the camera here.
And slightly unrelated, but I also bought 2 additional SGS4's that night and they both had the identical plastic coverings as well.

I was thinking maybe they gave you a used one that had been returned already, or they were using it for a demo model? Not really sure, but I've been with 3 carriers in 3 years, with 4 different Samsung Galaxy series (Galaxy Epic, Galaxy Epic 4GT, Galaxy SIII, and the current ones listed above) phones and every one of them have had these same protective pieces. And they were purchased at a variety of stores, Sprint, Amazon, US Cellular, and Best Buy.

It all looks normal to me. Also the fingerprint scanner will reflect light differently than the phone body because it's recessed into the body of the phone. Which in turn can make it look different. But yours looks normal. The bar at the bottom is supposed to be slightly diff than the body of the phone to give a two tone effect.

Yes...it does. It is not about functionality tho. I just do not know if this is how it is supposed to look. As I said I do not remember my first unit (built in Octomber) to have two different colors. Or at least it was more of the same shade. That is why this one seems weird to me.

It could very possibly be a different shade. But I am just saying that unless it is effecting the usage of the device, why does it matter. It's not like you could trade it in on the basis that the fingerprint scanner paint is a slightly different shade then your first model. You are hyper focused on a non issue. Are you worried that you got a refurbished one. Because you probably did. And that would definitely explain the difference in paint. But still, you have a fully functional device.

Yeah it is hard to say. I would assume it's new, but maybe they have refurbs stocked from huawei on hand for trade outs. I don't really know how it works. I have gotten refurbished phones in the past though and have not experienced negative side effects. My HTC m7 which I had for the full 2 years was one of my favorite phones. My first model did crap out though in the first week and I had to mail it in to swap it and definitely got a refurbished one. But it still works fine to this day. I could see where they had glued it back together at the top though and it made me uneasy for the first few months.

This is a little bit off topic...but is it legal to sell refurbished phones without saying they are refurbished? The shop I bought it from claims it maight be a new phone. Idk if they collaborate with Huawei. Nexus devices are not so Popular in Romania. I can guarantee you that it's a Z5P on the pic. The metal is glossy and seems to catch fingerprints easily. Z5 has a more matte finish.
You're right, Z5P is not available in the US, then my guess is as good as yours.
Seems like it might be to do with issues they've had with the touch sensor working properly on the first revision because of the slightly recessed button. Now it's flush so there is better contact. I haven't seen that revised version yet though, but I'll keep an eye out.

Unpacking your new Xperia device, Clean it

Hey all
I just unoacked my 2nd Z3+, but I thought Ide share this with the community....
The reason Im onto my 2nd device is because on my 1st Z3+ the camera images had a cloudy ghosting to them and some chromatic abboration.. but what ive realised now is... all Xperia devices are shipped. with the white frosted protective sticky films covering both the back and front of the Xperia that you peel off..
However when I did peel them off I noticed they leave behind a tacky oily residue on the the REAR glass back which is on your fingers when you first use your Z, probably why the back panel gets all "finger marked up" out of the box , but I now wonder if this is also on the camera hence why I got cloudy images.. I dont mean the Display screen itself as the xperia comes with a screen protector already on it, so thats ok..
I just gently cleaned my camera glass with a lint free cloth and a touch of water (no soap) or lense cleaner and it seems to be taking great shots, so if your finding this yourself, give that a try... I will say ... its not the best idea to clean any camera glass too much, as this can cause its own problems.. too much rubbing can build up static which attracts lint and dust particles, also smearing from the cloth.. use a lint free cloth, Personally, Ive found a quick clean every now and again is a good practise
Just thought Ide share this
Nice suggestion. I've had a Z1 compact before, and I'm looking forward in buying Z3+ to replace it. Do you recommend this device? Does it overheat?

Yes, It overheats while gaming, browsing & using camera at top back of the phone. The heat is a bit higher than normal. Except that it is wonderful phone. If you concern about heat, ignore this phone else go for it.
Average battery
heats tooo much...till 46deg celsius... at that temp its lag a bit
Except all this its good mobile....
Camera is awesome
I rooted mine, debloated and installed project skynet. No lag at all and sits comfortably 35-45 which by modern standards is acceptable. This is a thin phone too remember.
My Z3+ is E6553 Rev. 5, which came with a fast charger in the box, and Ive found the heat is not as bad for me as alot of people have been reporting, I only shoot in 1080p video as well... and yes while is does get hot, its not untouchable... so maybe my Revision is an updated one.
I do really like this phone, its design and UI. I had considered a Z3, but SONY no longer support the Z3. I prefer the Z3+ for its wider camera angle, and extra modes, I know the Z3+ still uses the SONY RS sensor, but i read they had updated the imaging algorythms and changed a few things. Also the bottom mounted USB port.. (the usb covered flap on the Z3 is infuriating). Also I find the overall volume is louder for both ringer and music as well as the speakers being moved to the edges so they dont collect as much gunk and pocket lint.
Yeah.. its a great phone. Over here in UK you can buy for about £250 - £300 sim free, so its a great buy

Its on the side of the box.. its got the Model, and a few bar codes.. IMEI, Model Code etc or, inside the box, there should be a set of bar coded stickers (you know the ones you stick on the device if you need to return it for repairs)... should be on there if not on the boxc.
Good wishes bro.... @NightOrchid bro can u show us a pic of how to chk that rev5

I dont know exacly, but looks like rev 5 is the latest one. But somebudy said that rev 4 is for single sim version and rev 5 is for dual sim version. That could also be possible.

Hi there, today i got my brand new z3+ single SIM Rev. 5. Nice package... Glas Screen Protector, USB OTG Cable EC310, Smart Cover SCR30, Charger EP880 with 1500mA, Sony MH750 Headset, Micro USB Cable EC803 and a 30 Euro Gift Card for "HelloFresh" dont know what that is xD. The Phone itself is a little bit sticky, but after a clean with a damp microfibre cloth its perfect. I dont know why here on XDA some people ask for a Kernel with D2tW, its in the Stock Rom integrated already ("Settings->Display" on the Bottom of this menu).
