Sprint 4g in Albuquerque NM

not sure if anyone else has seen this, but.. im in albuquerque nm, a city with 'no 4g service'
well last night i reflashed the rom i am running and decided to go with a different modem ee03 for my samsung epic, i am now getting a full bar signal for 4g and gettting speeds of 7mb download 1.5mb upload, pretty freaking amazed here
so other then gloating was just trying to confirm if anyone else is getting this in albuq, if there was new markets that were supposed to go up for 4g etc.. the baffling part of this to me is i work for sprint, and have heard nothing of this whatsoever, soo yea..

I have a Verizon Lg Revolution and also started getting 4GLTE two days ago and I cannot find anything saying it is actually here yet.

No sign of 4g on the westside. Are you still able to get a 4g signal? Where in albuquerque are you getting it?

Im at the NMSF grounds inside and am getting almost full bars of 4g!! woohoo! Im using a moto photon by the way.

I saw 4G popping up on my wife's phone a few weeks ago, but it was on and off and no real signal. Then just now her stock E4GT showed full 4G bars and is blazing fast. My rooted E4GT showed two 4G bars for a second, but then nothing. We are in Rio Rancho. If 4G is actually here, I would love this! I left Denver just as they were getting it and my speeds have been terrible lately.
I'm going to check with my Sprint peeps and see if I can confirm anything.
Well, it is definitely picking up a WiMax signal (as you can see in the screen), but I don't think it is a working signal, as it goes in and out and I am unable to connect to anything with 4G signal showing and 3G/WiFi off. I'm guessing it is a test signal that probably works in ABQ, but not up here, which would still be good news.

Holy Crapamoly
I'm activating my replacement photon 4g right now and I can't believe I'm seeing a 4G icon at the top. In 'Burque. Never thought the day would come...

I found 4g working last night I was amazed. Had it on while driving to work. Its been working all day.

What amazes me is that Sprint still says we have no 4G! I've been using it daily since my post above. And I'm in Rio Rancho!

I for the life of me cannot get 4G here in rio rancho, nor have I ever been able to connect to 4G in NM. I am using a samsung epic 4g and am using the legendary rc 2.2 rom.
Any advice on the areas within the cities you are picking up 4G? Could my rom be bad and not allowing me to get the signal?

It's not crazy. It is up and down. Still office and service-wise i am happiest with Sprint. I've had T-mo which was best for me when traveling internationally, but not great here in the States. Verizon had great coverage, but horrible customer service and killed me with fees and overrages. AT&T/Cingular just plain sucked for me. Sprint has been the best customer service-wise, best pricing of the big carriers and great phones, but signal is crazy inconsistent. Personally, if I change again, I'll probably go to Boost. Same phones and network as Sprint at half the price.

Indoor signal strength

I know it's normal to get poor reception in industrial buildings but I'm not sure what to think. I've read the threads about the radio being locates right where it sits in your left palm and immediately noticed the left hand signal reduction does happen to me as well but only inside concrete buildings.
I'm not sure what to think. In the concrete building I'm in right now I range from -96 to -101 dBm and 6 asu on hspa. The GS3 next to me is getting -94 to -98 in the exact same spot and 47 asu on LTE. The weird thing is that his status bar shows 4 bars most of the time while mine is usually 2.
Is the Nexus 4 worse than normal for an hspa phone inside large buildings?

As you can see if I hold the phone in the awkward top half of the phone manner I'm getting normal reception. If I nestled it normally in my palm, I take a hit in signal of full 2 bars. I've been repeating this all day for the last 2 days in different indoor locations and even different cities and it has never changed not even once. The n4 antenna placement makes this happen. Which is troublesome because we normally hold our phones this way while tapping and surfing with our right.

well.. It was the same with my one x .. Showed full bars where another device showed 2 although signal strength is the same. It is just the way they coded it to be. Let's say nexus has 90-95 set to 3 bars. Galaxy s 3, can have 90-95 display as 4..

My OP shows that I was watching dBm numbers, the pics above also explained the consistently repeated behavior
I think the reason this hasn't been too widely reported like the old iPhone 4 antennagate is simply the smaller volume of sold devices. The issue is nearly identical, both units also are glass construction. I don't know if the iPhone 4 placed the antenna in the same spot though

Your not talking huge numbers here but +/- 3 dBm which is statistically an insignificant difference. You're looking at a 2 or 3 percent drop which could just be random. If you were seeing a drop in 10-20 dBm consistently I would say maybe there was a problem. As far as comparing LTE to HSPA they are not the same thing so why even add them to the debate. LTE is known to have far superior building penetration to anything else out there.

When I first got this phone I also had a Verizon HTC Rezound on LTE. The LTE signal I got in my house ran from -75 dBm to -101 dBm, it would fluctuate depending upon conditions but usually sat around -95 dBm give or take 10%. My Nexus 4 on AT&T HSPA fluctuates between -90 and -110 dBm and usually sits around -100, again about a 10% fluctuation. Not much different than Verizons LTE signal but its to be expected as it is not true 4G. The fluctuations in signal strength are just the nature of wireless signals not the phone. Solar radiation, the weather, trees or any other obstacles between the tower and my house all affect it and all change at any given time.

T-Mobile bad reception and network speeds, anyone else post here

I just received 2 of my Note 4's yesterday for my family plan. Both of us can confirm spotty service and slow download speeds to the point that many apps were saying check your internet connection. I was using the Note 3 in the exact same locations yesterday and had no issues. Anyone else noticing this? Maybe a software update is needed
I have not received (and will not now that it's rooted) the new Samsung update and I don't believe T-Mobile has rolled anything out yet. The phone is spectacular though.....it sounds crazy but I can actually see a difference in the Note 4 and Note 3 screens. The 4 is easier on my eyes. Sorry to get off topic!

The first few hours I was experiencing slow download speed from the Playstore so I decided to download everything via wifi left it there charging came back did a few test and it seems back to normal speed.
About the screen is not much of a difference in my opinion but there is a difference especially when reading online.

I am also having slow speeds I have pretty much done everything I have talked to tmobile I have switched out sim cards I have reset the phone I also have reset the apns, what I have realized is that it works well in 4g and not to well in 4g lte

I have experienced some slow speeds also and lag as well.

atlprettygirl2145 I'm having the exact same issue as u described. 4g works just fine but 4g lte is a no go. I'm also located in Atlanta.

Definitely not throttled.....it's the phone. I also noticed the lag but i was hoping it was just me. It's good that we are all noticing because that means they need a fix but it's bad becsuse, well, they really need a fix.

I'm opposite from you guys. My new note 4 has better reception and faster internet than my note 3.

Oh man, hope it's not the case with my note 4. My s5 gets the best reception I've had with any phone but I want a bigger screen. Should find out tomorrow.

Someone said there was an update already out for the new note 4. I saw it a couple threads back

I am crossing my fingers for all of you guys!

First 4-5 hours after setting up while it was syncing, d/l everything, configuring the new sim, etc, the whole works was a bit slow, but the 2nd day, it's been much better than my note 3. I'm happy so far.

Getting better Wifi and LTE speeds then my S5 and OnePlus One. Getting better SD card trasfer speeds too.

Are you guys using the new micro sim card that came with the phone

I am. Figured they included it for a reason. I probably don't know any better.

Hopefully it is just an issue with the towers in the Atlanta area then, I was being hopeful of that but I had the note 3 previous to the note 4 and it didn't have these issues

Home WiFi AC @5ghz is consistent with my prior speeds with the note3.
4G LTE speeds also consistent with my area coverage. Fastest 2 were done outdoors while the other 2 were done indoors.
Apparently no problems here with WiFi and LTE. I'm using the new sim card that came in the box and did nothing with apn settings.

I'm getting better signal, but very slow data speeds! Worst than my non-lte s3.

I can also confirm that Atlanta is having serious lte issues. I drove for 10 miles without lte in areas that just days ago were were blazing with lte. Talked to tmobile, and it seems like it got significantly worse. Looks like magenta may be regressing.

Band 4 (XLTE) on Verizon...

My Nexus 6P seems to be refusing to connect to band 4 which is Verizon's XLTE band in my area.(LTE discovery, Pure Nexus 11/10) My Moto Nexus 6 works just fine. Is this expected? Work around? Any advice/ ideas are appreciated.

I'm in latest MDB80M and connecting fine on Band 4.

Ok, thats good to know. I think it may be an issue wit Pure Nexus but I cant say for sure. I will troubleshoot some more. Thanks guys.

If you enabled Enhanced LTE option under Cellular Network and your device still refuses to connect to XLTE, call Tech support at verizon and have them add Advanced wireless option (Its free). When I switched phones on my account, that feature got dropped and tech support had to add back manually and now I am able to connect to XLTE on Band 4. But my download speeds are no where near as others have claimed

I went into my Verizon account and added Advanced Calling for free. It was not on my phone. I don't know if I had connectivity to Band 4 prior to that since I didn't check
Edit: Just to clarify, I currently have Band 4 connectivity.

How can you see what bands you are connected to? I am running pure nexus and can test for you.

Use the LTE discovery app and check your band.

Yes I already had it working in stock but seems I lost it when I flashed Pure Nexus (Suspect but not sure)

Where does it say what band in the app? Pardon my ignorance, but can't tell.

Usually it doesnt connect indoors in my case. Go outside and toggle airplane mode and check again.

Alright I reset back to stock and got XLTE again. I guess something weird happened when I flashed Pure Nexus. I think I'll keep stock rooted for a while. At least I can use layers and adaway. LOL

Will not having the correct vendor image affect this? I still need to get this flashed with the correct vendor image as I'm getting that pop up.

If you can stay on Band 4...here are my speedtest results this morning

Band 4 gets amazing speeds, I got 90Mbps down and 36Mbps up on my way to work today. Thanks for posting this OP, I was thinking about flashing Pure Nexus as well.

T-Mobile 6T keeps losing network connection

Is anyone else having an issue with their network connection? There are random times where I open the phone and I can't get anywhere. Apps just spin and time out saying no network connection. Although, the status bar still shows 4G LTE.

I have an unlocked 6T, using it on T-Mobile, and I was getting lots of data connection dropouts, not exactly how you described, but I would go from all bars to zero bars, then it would reconnect after 5 seconds or so. It's seemed to get quite a bit better since I turned off WiFi scanning for location purposes even when wifi is off. Can't say yet that it's fixed but it's been all good for hours now. Good luck with your issue!

I'll try that. I really want to love this phone, but I've had a few issues after only 2 days that I never once had with my LG V30.

Same boat here, I love this phone and want to keep it. Seems to be better but fingers crossed. I had a V30 as well

As soon as Oreo hit the V30, I actually had network issues there too, kind of like what you described for your 6T. seem to get better after a couple of updates for me

Unlocked on T-Mobile and no issues whatsoever

I noticed I have connection issues as well. I'll close out whatever app is having problems and restart the app, but it's over multiple apps. So I'm not sure, what's causing the drop outs

Usually with devices this new or doesn't bother me too much. I'm sure we're not the only ones and it'll get fixed sooner or later

This is an issue with T-Mobile's band 12. Check what band your phone is on when it does this, LTE discovery app can show you. If it is on band 12, that means the tower is congested.

Thanks for this, this used to drive me nuts on my T-Mobile V30 in Los Angeles, especially once the phone was updated to Oreo for some reason. Now on my OnePlus 6T, I was getting a lot of times where the signal just completely drops out and then reconnects usually within 5 or 10 seconds.

Cruised thru a couple different towns and had no issues with T-Mobile today

So I've been tracking the issue, been having lots of dropouts this morning here in Los Angeles. From using the app it seems like I'm usually on band 4, but when the connection drops out and reconnects, then I'm on band 2, but will be back on band 4 after a couple minutes. Do you think this is definitely the network and not my phone, I need to determine whether to send the phone back, which I don't really want to do.

Yeah that's network. The towers are kicking you off because it's congested. Unfortunately, T-Mobile doesn't have the capacity to handle the huge increase in subscribers that they have gotten over the last year or two.

I am experiencing the same issue not only in US but also in other countries.

You can also use signal spy to check with bands you're currently receiving, and it'll give you a good idea of what kind of coverage you're looking at. It'll specify the signal strength, type of band you're currently using, and more. Highly recommended if you want to know what your signal is looking like.
