The Curious case of my OnePlus 2 and Idea Cellular India - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have with me a strange problem to which i now have no idea how to tackle.
i got an invite for the 2 and ordered it the same morning i saw it. i was looking for a new phone, my phone 5 is maybe too old with the only physical buttons working being the home button and the volume keys.
The 2 arrived much before the expected delivery date and i was overjoyed.
i set it up, downloaded all my apps, set all that up and then inserted my idea sim. i had more than Rs. 100 as talk time balance with an idea2idea call rate cutter, idea2idea free sms and 3G data Packs activated.
i woke up the next morning and found my balance to be Rs.60. i thought i had overused the sms and payed no attention to it.
the next morning i noticed that my balance was now rs.30, and i hadn't used it much. i was curious now and called idea cellular customer care.
i told him about the balance being deducted and he said that the cause was international sms being sent from my device. i thought it must be something being activated and let it go again. Throughout the next day i noticed deductions from my available balance recurring in value of rs.3 and rs.5. i called up customer care again, this time he said this is a serious problem please have your phone checked by technician, it is malware app that is sending international sms.
i factory reset my phone and waited, by now my balance was rs.13. by the time i reached idea's office that evening it was 0.something. i repeated everything to them and they repeated the same stuff to me. i showed them that my phone was factory reset and hence the problem must be with idea. they told me idea has no international number service and then asked me to use the sim on an other phone and check whether deductions still occur. (recharged both numbers at this point)
i went home and popped the sim back into my iphone 5 and put in an AirTel sim into the OnePlus 2. Waited till the following afternoon, No deductions on both. I thought the problem must be solved and popped back the idea sim into the oneplus deductions again. Now i call up customer care again. this time i get the number to which the international sms is being sent (005859612 and another number which he told me ends in 7).
i remember the iMessage problems people face after switching to android from ios and then with some insane logic in my head i deactivate iMessage and Factime before popping the sim back into the OnePlus, thinking it will be solved this round. Not a chance, deductions again.
right now the sim is in an iBall slide tab, checking to see if the deductions occur on all android devices but nothing so far. i have no idea how what to do or even who to complain to. Any help is very very deeply appreciated.

Dude same problem here did u find any solution

No, sorry. Haven't found any solution yet. What I do now is that I keep my idea sim balance zero and use it only for data and SMS, the calls I do from an airtel sim.
Are you using idea also? And which phone did you migrate to OnePlus Two from?

I am using idea too and migrating from lumia 830

So this is a problem with idea then I guess. I switched from an iPhone 5 as mentioned in the post.

You are right . hey can you please tell how to slow down battery drain and heating issues on one plus two

I am using idea postpaid on op2 no issues at all. My other sim is BSNL prepaid. Works fine no deduction at all. Try posting a screenshot of ur running application when the deduction is done and I may find an Anomaly by comparing to mine.

It happens on idea prepaid only I think. My other sims work fine . plus I've tried resetting and everything so I don't think it's the app. Could it be a sim setting ?

I am using Idea prepaid as my second sim. So far no such random deductions. I think problem might be something else. ( Moved from Andoird one to One plus 2 recently )

Recently I found out that this app called 'hike' sent my whole contact list an invitation to join this app. Your problem may b similar as networks r dormant unless we use a service. Hope you delete an app which is making this fault.

Yeah. The problem is Oxygen OS sometimes doesn't show the "LTE" or "H+" or "H" or "E" and data connection arrows on signal bar, even when it's connected to the internet. I had this problem on Airtel too. I used to long press the mobile data connection quick tile and then switch off the mobile data just to make sure it's off. Now I'm on CM13. No Problem.

It's not a data connection problem. International SMS is being sent from the phone . confirmed with idea. The deduction occurs in rs.3 or rs.5

Oh, okay. I had that problem..

[Q] Nexus 4 drops mobile network randomly

Hi Guys,
I recently switched from the Nexus S forums to the Nexus 4 forums
I'm loving my N4 so far
Perhaps too much, because I've been ignoring a problem that I've been facing. My phone drops the mobile network for a few seconds, once in a while.
I was able to find a way to replicate it. I think this happens when the N4 tries to switch on data on 3g or H.
To replicate this,
1) I installed the Network Signal Info app(can't post link here )
2) Next I tried to switch off wifi. As soon as the wifi is disconnected, the phone tries to connect to mobile data network and my phone disconnects completely for a few seconds. See attached screenshot for logs.
Anyone else facing the same issue?
Thanks,
Spaccount
Note that I can't replicate the issue every time. However it does occur very frequently if you first keep it on Wi-Fi for at least 10 minutes.
Thanks.

Steps to replicate
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gRFJdhg160
Note that you need to be on wifi for alteast 10-15 mins before this works..
I tried loading the browser to show the problem(no network).. but I also get an error if I try calling or texting..
Can someone please try to replicate?
I'd like to know if this is an isolated hardware issue. I just finished 2 weeks on my phone.. Hopefully I can get it replaced
How long is mobile data disconnected? You do know that if you are on wifi mobile data is disconnected on all phones, it reconnects when you either turn off wifi or go out of range of the wifi network. It will take a few moments for it to reconnect to mobile data and vice versa, its not an instantaneous reconnect, it can take 10 seconds or a minute or two.

you are correct!
However, during this time period(as in the video), I'm completely cut off. I cannot even send a txt or make a call.
I didn't demo this because I wanted to keep my call list out of the video.

Okay I see what your talking about now, I had removed Network Signal Info off my phone and just reinstalled it. And no my phone doesn't totally drop signal, it drops but not by much when it switches from wifi to mobile data. Are you on stock or custom ROM or Kernel. Its like your radio is turning completely off during the switch to and from wifi, If your on a custom kernel I would suspect it to be the problem. If not then it might be a hardware issue.

Happens on my iphone 5 on t-mobile when is goes from edge to 3g or 3g to edge, I think it's cause of the phone switching the bands

Interesting! I'm on t-mobile as well.
I just did a factory reset(the google lady told me to) and I still have the problem.
Is there anyway that you can get hold of a Nexus 4?
Also where are you based out of? I'm in Ohio. Not sure if that matters?

So maybe its a carrier issue, I'm on ST AT&T. You on T-Mobile by chance? I had signal issues when I had them and dropped them in 2 weeks. Could only get a weak signal in my living room and then would get no network detected in my bathroom 10 feet away.
Okay not sure what caused this but I had my phone off for about 20 minutes and when I turned it back on to retest it I got no signal, then turned off wifi and signal came back, then turned off wifi and signal remained the same. Not sure if this effects my ability to send/receive voice or text. Its probably just the phone saving battery by turning off the cell radio.

However the network is OK around here. It would be great if someone on t-mobile and N4 can try to replicate this.
I had this issue with my previous defective device. If gps was on the mobile connection would crash. My new device does not have this problem.

I had this exact same issue when I first received my Nexus 4. I thought it may had been a faulty sim card, so I replaced that, twice, same result. I went ahead and formated the phone back to stock, same result. Checked and made sure APN settings were correct, same result. Contacted T-Mobile, they reset my phones service and the data in my area, same result. After both I and T-Mobile ran out of ideas I decided to contact Google for a replacement. Turns out it was a faulty antenna and my new device has been working fine since.

I just called google and requested a replacement.
The lady said I should get an email in 2 days. I'm on day 13, so I'm cutting it close
Also wanted to add that I ran the same test(as in the video) while on a phone call. It dropped the call and locked me out of the network for 10 seconds just like in the video.
I logged to XDA to report this issue it so annoying and the biggest proplem that my N4 seems to stuck on 3G and won't open internet untill it connects to H
it also happens when connected to E as I dont have 3G coverage over there and it also drop many times
mine seems to cut the radio off for seconds

Based on the following link, this might be a software issue. I know the issue described in the link is not exactly what I experienced, but is similar in some ways:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=40514
It's supposedly fixed in 4.2.2
Will let you know if I get the update before I RMA(don't want to force the update).

Similar problem on Galaxy Nexus
Hi all,
first of all, I know that there's a different forum for the Galaxy Nexus, but since I have a similar problem as discussed here I thought maybe someone can help...
I also have random disconnects from my mobile network, but since I almost never use WLAN it might not be the exact same problem as discussed here, right?
I'm running cm-10.1-20130416-EXPERIMENTAL-maguro-gerrit-35930.zip, and - as I said - my phone randomly disconnects (shows the "no signal" sign in the status bar) and relatively quickly connects back to the mobile network and everything works like normal. The whole reconnection process takes about 5s or so, I don't have to re-enter the PIN or something...
Any ideas how I could figure out what the reason might be?

Mobile data issue

My note4 almost always has a white 3g above the service bars. However, even though I still have 3G and there is no change in service bars, periodically my text messages will not send and internet will not work. Keep in mind that my phone constantly says it is connected to 3G. It also happens that the signal bars disappear. After reboot both are OK. *
I do not have any malicious*apps*and my phone is not rooted. Have messed with network settings and have seen no change.
And YES my mobile data is turned on.
Any help is appreciated!
I have the same problem, right now I am trying to figure out if it's software or hardware related...
I would hazard a guess that it is sim card related.

You got your phone from Orange? It never happened to you that it looks like the phone has signal, but in fact the signal froze and I cannot make a call or to be called. After a restart it's ok for a while. Also if I turn mobile data off is ok.

If have exactly the same issue !!!!
Start with full signal strength and going down to the lowest strength and minutes later no signal !!!
Reboot or Airplane mode can undo this, but the cycle starts allover: Full strength, less strength and no signal.
Tried with 3 different carriers !!
And 2 Note 4's !!
I have the Snapdragon version SM-N910F
What is going on ??
Have this issue with my exynos variant in australia its imported and full 3g signal and slow or no data throughout and sometimes h+ even g or nothing
Next week samsung will come to me and bring my phone to their service and will check whats going on. Anyway I think it's more like hardware issue than software.
I have the same issue with exynos variant I bought the fone from the official dealer in my country,
My data service was not working at all.
I got it working by going to mobile network and choosing WCDMA/GSM option instead of LTE/WCDMA/GSM. although now i cannot get 4g but at least the data is working on H or H+
I think its software as a few people have had this issue both variants also
Same problem here, Exynos factory unlocked SM-N910H. All of a sudden I look at my phone and I discover it's showing "Emergency calls only", sometimes H or H+ but no internet. A reboot OR Airplane mode OFF and then ON will solve both problems. That's ridiculous... I've literally tried everything, factory reset, changed sim, messed with the APN settings. I've had this problem since day 1, even before I rooted it. Darn this, I never had any problems with my HTC One X, and I am using it ATM until Samsung come up wit a fix with an update or something. I hope it's not hardware related as my Knox warranty is void 0x1. :crying:
The same issue happened to me. I have 910c variant from Lithuania. A week ago phone started to lose 4G and after few minutes "no signal". Few reboots and it is working again, but after some minutes there is no signal. What I did notice is that there was no signal problem in my city centre where 4G signal is very strong, but when I did some speed test there, it was only ~2-3mbit (before this problem it was ~50-60)... Unfortunately I did not test this issue by turning off 4G. I did deliver my phone to warranty service 5 days ago and they send phone to Latvia to do 4G tests. I refused to repair my phone and demanded to get new phone. Waiting for the answer
Also rooted my phone so no warranty for me. Changed carriers today and they are doing upgrades so stuck with useless service :/ but i think either it's something to do with root or software i dont think its hardware

Fuxas plz reply to.this thread when you hear back thanks
I dont think it is software, because I tried factory reset and it did not help.. Of course, when I get the results I will share them here.
If anything it's NOT the root because I am having this issue before I ever rooted it. My best guess it's the software and I've researched a lot about this problem, seems it's specifically related to some samsung devices and not only the Note 4.
Yup its a samsung problem and hopefully it gets rectified

No service

Hi,
I have a problem with my brand new Galaxy S7 edge. It's a European model, unlocked, bought in the official Samsung store. It was working fine but yesterday it lost service for a while. I switched it in and out of plane mode and service was back. Today it suddenly lost service and nothing seems to help. Tried plane mode, factory reset, changing network settings. Sim card works fine with my old galaxy s5. IMEI and serial number are correct. Any thoughts?

We have the *exact* same problem over at android-hilfe.de
I've been dealing with this issue for over a week now, latest update from two days ago didn't help. I reset the phone, switched SIM-Cards, swapped SD-Card etc. Problem persists.
NO service out of the blue.
I guess there is no way to fix thix, and I'm entirely sure more people have this problem, but they often don't notice because they are connected on Wifi.

Exactly, I haven't noticed it at first because I was online all the time. It looks to me as it's a problem with the gsm module in general as when I remove the SIM card the phone alerts me that the card has been removed so it probably sees the SIM card.

I don't know what's going on, but I see many people mentioning the exact same problem. If this happens again I'm giving the phone back. It seems to help if you switch from LTE/3G/2G to 3G/2G - but I depend on the LTE connection and it's unacceptable to me.

I've just had it die on me again. No chance I'm bothering with this any longer. There are really many things I like about this phone, but the 6S Plus has one unbeatable advantage: it works!

i have the same problem on a used s7e that i bought. i tryed with reflash it with pit etc etc and nothing helps
My T-Mobile S7 edge just had its radio bite the dust as well I guess. Phone was going slow so I rebooted it then I got no service. Rebooted a few more times, new SIM card, factory reset, software reload with SmartSwitch... nothing fixed it. I'm now 3 for 3 with Samsung phones that have mysteriously crapped out on me for no discernible reason. Not impressed.
Could be APN, I flashed a custom ROM on my phone and then it receives signal but says (and acts like) no services. Resetting APN put it instantly back to working. It can be found in Settings > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > Reset to default (or find the APN setting for your carrier on the internet/official website, then add & apply)

T-mobile Nexus 6P delayed SMS

Alright so for the past few weeks, I've been having issues sending SMS i'd send the message but the person wouldn't get the message till 20-30 minutes later. I called
T-Mobile multiple times about this issue and they reset some settings on their side but it would be every night starting at 10:30PM est til 2AM est. Whenever Tmo reset settings on their side SMS works. So a few days ago, I went to Tmo to get a new sim card and so did my girlfriend she got a new sim card who she has the
GS7 edge (T-Mobile) but any ways the problem has gotten worse and now im not sure what to-do. Weather a factory reset would fix the issue or changing the messaging app i've been using Google Messenger what else can I possibly do?
Try swapping SIM's with your girlfriend (Not sure what Sim the GS7E uses). See if the problem follows the SIM (IE, Your number/account) or the device. If your phone sends texts no problem with her SIM, Then it's not your phones problem. It's something to do with the provisioning on their (T-Mobiles) side. If it follows the phone. Compare the APN settings to your Girlfriends phone. They should match. If that all fails, You may want to try a factory reset.
I assume there is a way you could somehow see the message exiting the phone in a debug log somewhere. I'm not sure how one could do that. But I assume the phone will queue the message if it doesn't transmit. And you should be able to see that somewhere besides in the messaging app. I would also assume somewhere you can see why it's rejected by the local tower. I would imagine there is some kind of rejection message carried in signaling, But these are just my assumptions. I work in the carrier trunking business, Not the cell business. Haha.

it uses the nano sim that's actually not bad idea i'm going to try that, but before I did a factory reset on my N6P. I assume there could be a way to find out how to debug log it or anything to figure out what's going on, but i don't get since we got new sim cards why would it keep on doing it. Also that's why came here to see if anyone has been having the same issues with their N6P's on Tmo.

I suggest swapping them SIM's because it tests the provisioning. The SIM's themselves are fine. Because they work at all. The bigger thing to test here is that your account/line is correct. And by swapping SIM's you're trying a known-good account. So it's less about the SIM being functional. And more about T-Mobile not having some kind of misconfiguration on your account. So let us know how it goes.
As for how to look into it further, Hopefully someone else can chime in. As that's outside my depth.

well about swapping SIM's would it matter that we are on the same account, the delayed messages won't start until night like around 10:30PM sometimes maybe later

Nope. Still a good test. Since they are different numbers / lines.
That's strange. I have a 6p on T-Mobile as well and haven't had those issues. Stock N ROM and using stock Messenger app.
I also work for T-Mobile, where do you live?

I live in South FL, Stock 6.0.1 MM using stock Messenger app. I went to a T-Mobile store and they said it was because my phone is a "Unlocked Phone" and they also blame it on the network is "congested" but my girlfriend she has the GS7 Edge and it only happens when i text her and it starts at 10:30PM messages get delayed but with the double texts they have always been like this. even when I had my N6 from T-Mobile. So now i'm not sure what to do, if a factory reset on my device or on her phone also or what....
On my 6p, no matter what settings or apps used, I had mms and sms issues whenever I had wifi calling turned on. My issues were late and undelivered messages. Had to turn off wifi calling.

I don't have wifi calling on, and now I have issues with calls the phone call breaks up. And I will have to hangup and try and call her back but it goes straight to voicemail til I wait 5 minutes then call again and she said it was the same for her, when she tried to call me back. It would go straight to voicemail after the call breaks up and there is all this feedback.

[Moto G4 with Amazon ads] Always losses carrier network after 24 hours

Hello everyone,
I just bought a Moto G4 16 GB with Amazon Ads for my wife, but we are facing a very annoying problem: the carrier signal always dies after 24 hours give or take. We tested with a different SIM card and the same thing happened. When this happens the device only shows "Emergency Calls Only" and we have to reboot the phone in order to get the signal back.
So, is anyone else facing this problem? Is this really a problem with this phone in particular or every moto g4 has this problem? Should I return the device to amazon?
Thank you very much for any information you can give me!

No problems here since I got my phone last week and I have T-Mobile. You might have to check your apn settings with your carrier.

I tested the SIM card in a different phone and it worked flawlessly (I also use T-Mobile). The strange thing is that the phone gets the signal very well during more or less one day, after that I have to reboot to get signal again.
Well, this is probably a problem in the device. I already asked Amazon to send a replacement.

Try my APN settings to see if it helps, but locations very important

Thank you, but I just use the t-mobile network. In fact, my carrier is called campusSIMs and it is a MVNO that uses t-mobile network. So, my APN configs are a bit different from yours.
However, I didn't know about this mobile data thing. I didn't touch the developer options. Maybe, it can be a good idea.
Thank you!
It won't be your APN settings since that controls your data settings. If the sim is ok then it could be your phone.
Sent from my SM-T530NU using XDA-Developers mobile app
I'm seeing a similar problem with the data portion of the network (also on T-Mobile). While I'm able to send and receive calls and texts, data doesn't work. There's no indication that it's attached to LTE or even 3G (just a standard signal bar with no other information). I moved the SIM card back to the old phone it was in and it works fine.
Things actually worked yesterday, so something happened overnight to break it.

That could possible be the APN settings. Although usually it's the opposite, they don't work at first then they update from the network later on. Most times the APN settings will set themselves but on the odd occasion they need to manually edited. I don't use T-Mobile but the APN settings are easy enough to find.

Sounds like you need to manually enter the APN settings. What you describe is exactly what happens when it hasn't loaded an APN.
I'm "kinda" having an issue here. It's a little different though; the phone works ok for a while (for me about 3 hours, usually), and then I still get an LTE indicator, but have no network connection (get errors in apps/"No internet" page in chrome).
Other times, I lose LTE and get locked in 3g (H indicator), and can only get LTE back by going to Settings/More/Cellular Networks/ and toggle preferred network mode to 2g or 3g, let it connect (H or E), then toggle back to LTE.
Motorola responded to a bad Amazon review requesting I post asking for help on their forums.

I'm active over on their forums also and it's good to post over there in case you ever want to do a soak test. They look at your posts there when they ask for soak testers. As for your problem, I've seen it shift back and forth if you are in an area between towers and one isn't sending out LTE. If it were that I wouldn't think you'd get it back so easily. There's an app, don't remember the name, that will show the towers and signal relative to your location, If might be interesting to look at that.
Having the same issue with radio. Just replied to your post, Kalash.
Ok, we got a new phone from Amazon and it has the same problem. So, I believe this phone does not work very well with MVNOs.
I notice that the problem is that the phone cannot reconnect to the network after losing the signal. For example, if you go to an area with bad signal and, eventually the signal vanishes, the phone will not be able to reconnect to the carrier network. The phone only reconnects after reboot. Airplane mode does not solve the problem.
This does not happen with my Blu Life One X. So, I think it is a software problem.

That's not true on all mvnos' apparently. My wife's phone is on Consumer Cellular, an AT&T mvno and it's never done that. We've been in a no service area several times and it's always connected immediately when getting service back.
