Marshmallow - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is any developer working on making a marshmallow rom?
Sent from my XT1562 using XDA Free mobile app

You will get a stock Android 6 update, no worries

I too would like to know whether someone is developing a Marshmallow Rom for the X Play, because I think it will be a few months until we will get an official Marshmallow update.

Not currently as far as I am aware v

A build is in the works. Hopefully it boots.

Thank you for your work, I would really like to see Marshmallow's battery optimizations combined with the battery of the Moto X Play !

Somebody will most likely be working on it but I'd hazard a guess that most people will be waiting for Motorola to release an official build. M ROMs should follow fairly quickly then.
Sent from my XT1562 using Tapatalk

I'm hoping Motorola will offer a ROM soon, but their record is getting worse lately. There was a time when they were actually faster than the Nexus devices, but that's no longer the case...unfortunately.
I hope I'll be proven wrong!

Hopefully we will get Marshmallow at the end of this year

Agreed. My Nexus 9 doesn't have one either, but it sure as heck runs much better on Marshmallow. App permissions built in are great as well.
And @fingerprinted, seriously, you're the most bitter person in regards to this phone lol. You hate it, we get it. You don't have to keep coming and posting. Your stance is wellllllll known at this point. I'm just waiting for rom updates that'll make the device run even smoother. On custom ROMs this thing is great, so it's only a matter of time.

Y so salty? Sell the device if you hate it so much. Such negativity isn't really healthy.

Nobody says it's the best device. And Motorola can only do something if they get spammed with emails. Simply ranting on XDA won't get their attention, and since 90% of the people only rant on XDA without actually doing something about it, I don't really see your point.

No finger print scanner on my Nexus 5 either but Marshmallow it brilliant on it, it did wonders for the battery life and the app permissions is great.

Unlocked Bootloader

This is a step in the right direction, yes???

(From what I have read though, it does not directly apply to the Atirx - but maybe it will make things easier for the devs??? Let's hope so!!!)

Yes it does:

At last! Recoveries with full nandroid coming?
If someone can make this whole process work with the Atrix I foresee the Atrix becoming even bigger!
We will see, Seems motorola is a little mad
Ya well moto might be a little mad but we are alot more mad at them for locking it down in the first place! Hope this means I will keep the Atrix. If not then bye bye moto. 7 days left of my 30.

It's not a question of if it's fake or real, it's a matter of whether it will work or not. It was confirmed to work on a Sholes device but the devs are trying to see if it will work on the Droids and maybe the Atrix. Quit being such a party pooper. There's a thin line between being realistic and just being pessimistic.
Well I for one am waiting with bated breath. I hope that devs are trying these keys on the Atrix as we speak. (I'm sure they are, I mean HELLO!) We are all hoping for a new thread titled " Atrix Bootloader Unlocked!!!111" Here's to dim hope. Unleash this BEAST!!!

In accordance with the prophecy.
I was taking a look on the IRC ##pbf (freenode) channel of the developer who cracked the bootloader just to see/ask if the Atrix would be supported, this is what i got:
[02:19] <Guest75486> what differs sholes' phones from atrix mobile phone? i did not get why the atrix may not be unlocked by these keys
[02:19] <brttwrd> its newer
[02:20] <Guest75486> ok it is newer but is known to differ the way bootloader is encrypted?
[02:21] <brttwrd> no seriously atrix is newer, they possibly used a newer version of the previous locking system
So, let's hope Motorola did not change the way of encrypting bootloader. Finger crossed.
Saludos a los Argentinos!
Well we shall see how this unfolds, shant we? Keep us updated we are all biting our nails!
Well, any new news?
News is it doesn't work.

Chrome For Android Beta

So basically its the stock 4.0 browser with the chrome skin and no flash and as of yet no chrome plugin support. But try it out anyway.
Its never gonna support flash, just like android post-4.0
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.android.chrome
Awesome. Thanks for the heads-up! finally something that can compete with dolphin for pad...
I thought it was ICS only?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485495
I've been using it since yesterday on the CM9 KANG in my P7500. Have to say I'm VERY impressed. Seems faster and more "desktop-ish" than the stock browser. It surely deserves a try!
working fine for me but.....
After fooling around I can't find any way to set the user agent to desktop. Is there a way, a tweak for that yet? That's quite annoying
Its ICS Only!
Well, if anyone here is not using any of the Kang CM9 ports on their GT10.1, then you don't know what you're missing. No reason for anyone to be stuck on 3.2.
No flash, no YouTube desktop site, no good.

do you really think that google will push out another OTA update in 2 days after this?
lol
If the software isn't perfect even on release day, Google will still issue updates accordingly. Its not like Google will sell you a phone, and then not fix any issues. So even if battery life is not perfect on day one, that could easily be fixed with an update. I am buying on day one no matter what, as I desperately need a new phone.

What's wrong with Google? I hope they get their sh*t together and release a final ota that fixes all the current bugs. I would think that they would update the software before the release to do any last minute debugging.

Seems like the devs over at google might be having a hard time getting a 3.4 kernel optimized for android devices... As far as I know, it's the first phone to use the 3.4.x kernel branch. Most other ICS or JB android devices use the 3.0.x branch.

It's normal behavior, in fact it makes no sense to wait long for "nothing"... but now as many have said the failure to implement all the features of z2 with an update is linked to the interests of the company ... who would rise from z1 to z2 if you can get the same thing at a lower price?
And this is the main problem of the technology, not only of Sony
However this is xda

I am certainly not gonna find excuses for Sony's despicable behaviour. Z1 is only 6 months old, it should be fully supported and get all the new features it can handle. We helped Sony become more relevant in the mobile market and that's how they reward their customers? They really expect us to pay 600$ twice a year if we want a decent update? That's just dishonest! Shame on you Sony!!!
I just want kit kat and its default kit kat features, tap 2 wake and maybe if I'm lucky the abilty to display the homescreen wallpaper on the lockscreen so i can have Muzei LW on both

Blame Samsung. They take Android, make it 10x worse - and then receive a major new version, if you're lucky. I hate the whole Note 5 experience. The only thing that's good is the camera, finger scanner. Even the display looks pretty bad, albeit nice colour.
