Sony Xperia E4 custom kernel development (REALLY NEED HELP) - Sony Xperia E4 Questions & Answers

Hey guys,
I am really hoping for someone to help. I haven't had a Mediatek device before, but man... Their sources are the messiest thing I've ever seen. So much stuff out of place... Could somebody help me clean it and standardize?
I tried almost everything and some files are missing, some symlinks are wrong.

[samsung i857(doubletime)]ROM devlopers and users of this phone

HI all , i lunched this thread after weeks of googling and usless search for a new stock or custom rom to update my phone (samsung sgh-i857 doubletime) it's a dual screen phone with querty built-in keyboard it's from at&t and it is stuck on android 2.2.2, i'm very sad that they and after years from lunching it didn't back it up with a single soft update -_- ... and i know that there are users who bought this phone like me and seek help.. i know that it's not this easy but if you are a devloper help us by creating a custom rom for it ....if you are a user of this phone please support this thread by commenting so we can get an update for it :good: ps: i attached informations for it's cpu
Hello good sir, I like you am a noobish Doubletime user who is struggling to update it to Gingerbread. So far I have been somewhat able to use the Cyanogenmod source code and I have built a CWM Recovery for the device but that seems to have hard bricked it... I ordered a new one off ebay for $15 and I'm ready to start cooking. You have my support!
Just an update.
I have a plan I have on how to get this runnin.
1. Port CWM to the DoubleTime through Cyanogemod 6.
2. Get a working version of Cyanogenmod 6 working on the DoubleTime to hopefully free up some space.
3. Find if Gingerbread can run on Froyos kernel.
From there I'll either be building a GingerBread compatable kernel or Cyanogenmod 7 depending on compatability. Any advice or help would be very appreciated.
Being new to ROM building I'm a little lost and hesitant on flashing things but here's what I know so far.
The DoubleTime uses a Qualcomm MSM7230 same as the HTC Vision. I forked it's Github respiratory and I'll be using it as a base as recommended by the Cyanogenmod porting guide.
The partitions sizes (as a accurately as I can estimate them) are:
/cache=21.05MB
/data=176.65MB
/system=194.38MB
I may need to know the recovery partition size but I'm not sure how to find that out.
I have the recovery.img and the boot.img as well as the zImage. So as soon as the repo sync is done I'll be on my way.
I'm back again today with somewhat mixed news, I can find most of the partitions and their names (I've learned a lot today) but I can not seem to find the boot, recovery or ramdisk partitions. I'm already boggled by the what seems to be unconventional naming setup for partitions. Put all of my "notes" in a text docement in the attachments section. Any help with this is very appertiated. I can type and post anything into the ADB shell you need me too.
I'm beginning to feel like I'm talking to myself, I probably am...
Upon reading forum rules and such it has come to my attension that this is the wrong forum for this kind of thread, So I have made a new thread in the Miscellaneous Android Developement Forum that will hopefully be more useful at getting more proffesional and opinionated help.

Lollypop porting

As some of you know i'm working on a N6 (because of the qhd screen) lollypop port since 1 month (really?^? sooo much to port 1 rom?) ^^
My last result is a half bricked device because of kernel incompatibility with L... (i'm lucky that i still can pull out the battery).. The only kernel source available is the Lg one.. some of you like @Tectas made an incredible job with their source (thank you.. you really helped me a lot for developing, and thanks to @sykopompos for his incredible help and friendship). Anyway main problem with L is not the rom itself...everything it's in place and surprisingly it's recognized by the bootloader in last_kmsg... the real problem is an error that i coulden't get rid of.. is a kernel panic due to the MODEM! Here the link to see what happened.. Googling for that error i found a lot of people with the same problem in old version of android but no one with a fix (aww c'mon!!) anyway... i tried every possibile fix cherry-picking and coding for bypass or avoid or to solve this problem...but it remains... any help would be appreciated but i'm afraid we'll all need to wait for LG to release the L source for G3.
If someone wants to help i'm really happy to work with everyone

If I were you I'd wait for a proper bring up of G3 + CM to 5.0, there are to many variables to this, I mean heck, even on 4.4.4 when i build I deal with a ton of build errors I need to solve.
IF you got LP to even boot on the G3 it would prob work very bad at this point.
just my 2 cents
i'm not sure at this point because all the hardware is recognized by the bootloader but at that point the modem get a fatal error that is not even described..

did you by chance check out the 4.4.4 kernels for lg g3 on the modem part. I know they're different, but maybe it might give you some clues on how to fix the code.
wich kernels?
Are you trying port 5.0 from the n6 system img? Probably never going to work bud
Sent from my VS985 4G using XDA Premium HD app
i think that once i will figure out how to fix the kernel panic it will start to boot at least ^^ with all it's bugs but it will boot

Wrong Thread but INSIST [HELP] Custom CWM

Have u built any rom for Xperia XA Ultra Dual F3216 with VoLte support?
Please tell....
i will try to make one from my knowledge, but im sure that i will face at least imei-baseband unknown, and camera fc error. i can make the system of it but cant fix those problems...
sadly, it didnt work out... i was using c5 ultra before f3211, and i ported a custom rom from k3 note and k4 note. it worked but as i said imei baseband and camera were the problems, i did the same procedure but faced many problems. so many files are missing like mt6755 files, lib files, firmware mddb files etc. i gave it a try and it got stuck in boot logo. we need to build a device tree for sure otherwise we are not getting any custom rom...
tried this rom : https://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p9000/development/rom-aokp-nougat-t3690278
Did the f3216 support VoLte in ur build??
F3216_36.1.A.0.182_R4B_INDIA GENERIC_1303-3635.FTF
"dl13.easy-firmware.com/download.php?ds=326531xtc203d4e88129d44db0cc293830 9fc51ad1b848df3"
I think so this will work

Apologies if this has been asked before, starting to pull my hair out a bit trying to find info on this phone.

Hi I started a thread some time ago now HERE hoping to bring all the MediaTek SoC based Sony phones together to share all the common development.
All the MediaTek SoC based phones share 98% of things so what works on one will probably work on another. For instance I made a boot.img for the L2 using the same method as I use for my C4, XA and L1.
There is a real lack of devs or maybe just devs that are working alone so it would be better for them meet up in a common thread to work on development and share their experiences.
I see lots of duplicated development going on with people struggling when most of it was solved a longtime ago
