I recently put a new deck in my car, and the ONE reason I spent the money I did on it is because of the MHL capability. Now it seems all these new phones don't support MHL. None of the newer Samsung do, and it seems if I'm trying to get one of the top competitor phones, MHL is no longer an option?
Did anyone see/read/hear of MHL being a thing on the 6P? If it turns out that MHL isn't an option stock on this phone, is MHL a thing that can be added via a custom rom, or is it purely hardware?

Haven't seen any news of it, but can confirm there's hardware required as the USB port is different (at least on regular micro usb phones, NFI with USB-C). I can't even plug an MHL cable into my S6, whereas friend with Note 4 it all works easily.

That's kind of what I was thinking as well. Apparently they got rid of the MHL support completely in the S6 and Note5 Line. I read that they don't even have MHL in the Nexus 6.... So I'm really afraid they might not have it here either.... Kind of sucks I guess.
I am about ready to tuck a Miracast adapter behind my dashboard. Then there's no fussing with cables or anything

An alternative solution is chromecast has screen mirroring support. Tested it last night with the new chromecast app. Worked very well.
Chromecast needs the phone to be a hotspot and have internet connectivity at start up. Works if the conditions are right, so depends on where you live.

They mentioned in their Q&A, that the usb is 2.0 because it's always on and 3.0 takes more power apparently.

From what I understand, this phone does not support Qualcomm's QuickCharge. Every Google page on this phone says "Fast Charging". That's freaking bogus, too. It's part of the Qualcomm 810 processor. Why the heck not??? If the hardware is in there, its possible it could be enabled through a kernel tweak. No guarantees though.
And for that matter, that processor supports wireless charging through metal. Just give me DISPLAYPORT!

Uhh yes it does support quick charge. 10 mins charge give it 7 hours of use if I remember correctly. This isn't the Oppo OnePlus that tries to sugar coat things and sell you garbage.

Unfortunately, it does not support "Quick Charge" Everything Google has said is "Fast Charge" which is not the QC standard. All your chargers you have now, are slow and useless to the 6P.

I just found a jack to compozit cable in my cabinet. It has a Jack father and an RCA (red-white-yellow) father. I have got a pic, but Im new in here, so I cant link...
So, I just wondering, can we use this cable to connect the N7 to a TV?
I know, at the moment we can't, but why? Because the hardware limitation, or the android doesn't support this feature?

As far as I know, you'd just be transporting the audio if you were to plug it into any device. You'd have to have an extra adapter to port the video through the yellow composite video cable.
Though people have been known to make some wicked little mods, so you never know these days.
Nexus 7 does not have the hardware capability.

The pogo pins only do charging and audio.
Hello everyone, I got an 11 pin mhl to HDMI converter and trying to mirror it to tv but it does not display anything on TV.
I got it from amazon cable masters brand
Just to be sure I also bought similar dongle but another brand. Same did not work with my phone. Not sure if anybody has issue with this.It does say hdmi connected but nothing displays on tv.
If anyone knows any product that worked for them can you please post or help me why it's not working. Thanks!
That's why I prefer to stick with oem products. The mhl 2.0 Samsung part does mirror. At least from the YouTube video I have seen. You could try rebooting the phone too. Custom roms might interfere with this too. Idk

Thanks for reply. I just bought Samsung 11pin mhl adapter from bestbuy. Still no luck. I can display S3 on tv but not S4. I am guessing something might be wrong with usb port of my phone?

I have the Samsung adapter mentioned above. It works flawlessly. A bit pricey, but worth it, IMO

I use the OEM mhl/hdmi and the 11 pin for the s4- works fine.
Make sure that the cable connects complete if you keep the s4 case on, otherwise take the case off
My cases are different thicknesses from the s3 to s4 and I have to have the case off for it to work well on my S4.
Also, try plugging it in to the phone AFTER you connect the power to the mhl and hdmi to the TV.
You might also consider rebooting before your plug try plugging it in to see if it makes a difference. The reason I say that is when I use the all share hub to show video via wi-fi, MX player sometimes has the audio and video not synced right, after I reboot, it is synced fine. I know that isn't your exact issue here, I'm just saying sometimes the reboot helps if you're like me and leave your phone on constantly without rebooting.
One other thought that was mentioned earlier - if you're on a custom rom, make sure it supports it.
And of course, you can just pick up an OEM (since you have the 11pin adapter) for around $10-15 on amazon and return it easy if it doesn't work on your S4 and if you're not on a custom ROM, you can point your finger at the S4 port:

Always wanted a Android Mini PC to use on my living room TV for quick streaming, browsing and possibly for XBMC. With my interst growing and XBMC getting very stable on Android I went for the Tronsmart MK908. I assumed based solely on the model number that it was a better MK808... still not sure it isn't, but anyway.
First thing I did was instal Finless 1.5. Looks great on my 60" Visio in 1080p. Lodaded a decent build of XBMC but the damn little thing overheats and shuts off. Lasts about 10-15 minutes tops once XBMC is running. I've got it plugged in to the TV's USB port for power.
I con't get a bluetooth keyboard to work with it. It pairs but the keys do nothing. (Kensington Slimblade Bluetooth model)
Running in 720p doesn't help with overheating. This thing gets HOTT. Were my expectations too high for this little device?
It feels like more of a experiment or tinkerers toy. I've seen others gut it and add bulging heatsinks, adding fans, changing the enclosure (liek a cigar box with fans etc) and to me these changes completely defeat the purpose of a small hdmi dongle sized android pc and makes the clunky hard to transport.
Thoughts?
Remember these things are built to a price. But you should still expect a decent level of functionality. I suggest under clocking it and put fans on it in a different case. A case of buyer beware if there are a lot of devices like this. Research and gather others opinions on these devices prior to purchase...

You should try a different power supply. Received wisdom is that cheap ones that come with sticks often cause freeze or shutdown because of the dynamic current load. Use a name-brand one with 1.5 amp capacity or more if you can, but even a 1 amp phone charger will probably be more stable than the included charger.

You are right man the only problem that i see here too is the power supply, a usb port on the tv usually outputs only 0.5 amp while the minimum for this quad core is 2 amp. It might work with a good 1 amp power supply but only for main tasks but if you want to see movies in full hd or play games you'll need a lot more than that.

actually most chinese minipc sells with extremely underpowered power supplies, they write "2A" or such on them but if you test them they really are just 0.5a or 0.75a
as for tv you shoud check your tv manual, some have low power usb ports that are rated only for usb memory sticks, others have powered usb ports rated for unpowered usb hd.
only the latter kind can juice a minipc - sometimes TV have more than one usb port but only one is hd-rated.
Yeah, I suggest throwing away the included supply. One thing recommended on Freaktab is to buy a PSVita charger (1.5a, ~$10 on Amazon). You have to cut out a bit of plastic for regular USB cables to fit. I got one recently and have had no freezes or reboots since on my mk808b.

Not starting a war here however that's very true true & customers must be aware of this. However I must of been one of the lucky ones as my adapter is pushing 2Amps at 5.1V +/-.5...
Hell I dished out almost a bill for this device the least we can all receive is hardware that's correct from our supplier..
Agreed towards the powered USB within tvs.. Highest Amp rating I seen was on a Samsung model & that was only pushing 1.34Amps.. Nor was it constant as the Amp readings would fluctuate during input presses via remote or on the telly itself via hard key.
Power blocks are key & this device needs every little bit of at least 1.5Amps & even at times that's not enough..
I had a similar issue with my 908. I didn't use the one that came with it because the metal contact on the usb port looked was rusted.
Instead I tried the adapter for my Nexus 4, which is supposed to be a 5v 1a / 2a variable but it froze playing Captain America on Netflix.
I then tried it with my old Nexus 7 [Tegra 3] adapter which is a 5v 2a and it worked perfectly - played the entire movie, no issues (at 1920x1080p @ 60fps). In essence, I do think that whoever buys this stick needs to pick up a 5a 2a solid - no variable chargers. Also, I'd highly recommend not bothering with the wifi on it. Grab a 10/100 or 10/100/1000 ethernet stick and use that.

I have read that XBMC has no hardware acceleration on those RK... processors. You need to use alternative video player like MX Player or BS Player.

My bad didnt get the first page. We used to sell something with a unit with the same specs they are right your power source is not providing enough juice. Especially ur using a tv usb that usually have 500mA. Try getting a usb charger thats got at least 2A. And android sticks nirmally runs hot though.

I've tried these nightly xbmc versions months before. It is hw accelerated, because, instead of xbmc' it uses mx player for video playing.
So, it means, you can use mx player directly, you get the same reaults.
But i prefer vondershare player. But it has problems with subtitles.

All main issues (reboot and/or shutdown) are related to the power supply, it's a matter of fact the shipped power adapter sucks.

It might be the older 5 pin version when the newer Samsungs have moved onto 11 pin adapters.
You could either upgrade or get an 5 pin to 11 pin adapter.

It should...it has a mirror screen function that works with Samsung all share cast hub(kind of miracast?)

I tried the Samsung HDMI adapter I bought last year for my Note 2. It works for the Note 2 but not Note 3. The HML adapter will show like a dark snow effect and without it on it is a blank TV. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the TV resolution :/

l picked up one from Monoprice that came with the 5 to 11 pin converter. Worked fine with the tablet and my S3 watching streamed content with the Hulu plus subscription included with the tablet.

I haven't tested it but It works with my S4, says its compatible with Note 3 and Note 8 so should work on this.
I haven't tested this on my new 10.1 2014 yet, BUT

My mhl works fine that I got for my s4. It also works for my note 3 with the USB 3.0. Since the galaxy s3 you need a mhl 2.0 adapter. They have extra pins. The old mhl won't work on newer Samsung devices

The catch being it is a battery drain. Net negative even when charging. You can not even watch a complete movie if streaming Netflix on the S4.

Well, quoting myself... Actually would the rendering at the device with dedicated hardware give up more heat than broadcasting via WiFi?
Which would take more power?
Allways believe that any kind of "air transmission" is quite power-consuming.

Yeah it is a downgrade. I never cared if a phone could stream HDMI before, but now that I'm seeing a 6P as way to carry a single device (no more tablet with HDMI + phone), it is disappointing. Plus, when I read about USB-C having so many capabilities, I was hoping the phone would include some of them instead of it just being a connector choice.
Strange choice leaving out the HDMI stuff etc. Don't understand it. I wonder if the 810 gets too hot outputting to HDMI.
I don't know if people would use stuff other than OTG or video-out. But it'd definitely be nice for some guys for other devices (even though most can be connected to OTG).

If you have ever done presentations using a micro-usb to HDMI cable, you know that this puts a lot of stress on the connector. And having to drag a cable all over the place is an inconvenience. This is with a Nexus 7 (2013). For me, the presence of WiFi Direct and hence Miracast is far more important. I find that with the Nexus 7 at least, Miracast works perfectly. I use an Actiontec Screenbeam Mini2 as a dongle. I am anticipatinf that the Nexus 6p will work as well, but we will see.
why do you want a big cable connect to your tv/monitor?
I imagine Google want you to use their Chromecast ?

I don't think anyone wants the cable, per se. It is plug-n-play that we want. How do you go to a friend's house, hotel, couch-surfing, etc., and watch a movie that is on your Nexus 6P (on whatever televion is available).
