Have Samsung forgotten about the N910G altogether? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

No word yet on 5.1.1 and extremely limited ROM support from what I can see....
Is this the forgotten model from Samsung?
(I remember when 5.01 came out it seemed to take FOREVER for the 910G to get it also?)
Seriously I have been with Sammy since the original Galaxy S and for a not even one year old flagship, this is terrible treatment.

They have forgotten Galaxy Note 4 itself, no point in thinking about 910G alone.

Here in India, Samsung is running TV commercials for the Note 5. I think that explains the delay. Samsung will do its best to sell the new model, including holding back updates for the earlier one. Samsung's phone sales have tanked and these are desperate times!
We will see an update (minus any new fefeatures from Note 5) once the mgmt decides the first wave of Note 5 buyers have been dealt with.

Bro, us SM-910U users are equally ignored. When 5.0 update came we were last. My family called a doctor to snap me out of a depression.
I tell you what the doctor prescribed me: Nexus phone.
Waiting on the new Nexus 5 & 6 for my treatment of Samsungitus which affects millions of people.

Luckily N910H is nearly the same as N910C, just some differences in modem. The fact is that N910H can use all N910C rom but it's a dream with N910U

So when do you think Android 4.4 (KitKat) will come to North America for the GN?

I guess this is going to be the last hold up thread for KitKat since Samsung decided they could probably get more Americans to buy the billion new Galaxy Note devices they've launched instead of giving the original Note 10.1 a update.
< My N8013 is on Android 4.1.2 and has been that way since I got it April 2013 and it auto-updated from 4.0.
I am surprised how long its been since Samsung has updated this tablet. My previous tablet that was riddled with problems (ASUS Transformer Prime/Infinity) which is how I became a Samsung user, that tablet at least got Android 4.2 before ASUS moved on.
This is a lovely tablet. I hope the delay is due to Samsung giving us the best KitKat update, with all the apps that the current Galaxy Note 10.1 receives.

Nobody is sure that it will. Seems Samsung is updating 3g 4g devices and those sold by Carriers only.
I predict Samsung will Drop support for every device below there new S line in the near future.
Ive only had my note 10.1 lte just over a year. its a shame there isnt an update yet.
i'm fine with my N8013 running the KitKat build from the N8000 right now for the most part. The only thing that bothers me is that USB devices won't work properly on this build.
If Samsung ever will release KitKat for my N8013, I'll be glad to update, but until then, the XDA forums has done a nice job keeping the device relevant
hey atleast you guys can run roms, im not even sure what I could run without bricking. lol

You never know when it comes to Samsung. They started in Europe, Germany, France, jumped to Asia and let other european country without updates. Im waiting to get Nordic version, but it seems to be that there is no sense at all. They are jumping from continent to other, so maybe they jump next to America. Which part? south or north, maybe middle or Greenland. LOL so you can only wait and see.

Yes . but there is a Solid trend. The tablets they are updated are the ones that have data services or SOLD By Cell Carriers. the n8000 n8020.. they updated the g tab 3 Carrier Branded model number..
I also have a note 2 phone on 4.3 t- mobile. I suspect it will NOT Get another update. Thou like some on with the 10.1 there are some roms out there from the at-t Varient that works . But there is a twist and it could be the same with some people in here. There are random number of people who brick there phone flashing said roms when they follow the instructions exactly right. Has me a bit scared. Its suspected some of the note 2 t-mobile phones have a different board level components that is causing this.
anyway Sorry for my Ramblings
They are only Thoughts and nothing solid.
I dont know, i never would buy a carrier variant, and I dont have to because we dont have that kind of business here. What I have understood the carrier thing actually delays updates, because they need to build those differend kinds of variant firmwares that have to be tested and accepted by all parties.

There are numerous 4.4.2 ROMs for the n8000 dropping on sammobile.com, but not a single WiFi only variant. Wth.
Oh and the supposedly most up to date N7 hasn't been upgraded with 4.4.3 for the LTE version. Its the only N7 that hasn't received the update. Seems I always get the devices that the manufacturer releases and forgets.
The update of the 8010 which is wifi only is a good sign for those of us with wifi only versions. I have an 8013 so maybe there is an update soon for us.

Unlikely. Big corporations aren't run directly by top management like that. Unless we hear of a major shakeup that affects the tablet division, it's more likely that it's just delayed or deferred. What makes this so surreal is that the N8010 is essentially identical to the N8013, neither are 3G devices - so it's weird that the 8010 has been updated, but the 8013 hasn't.
Still if it never shows, you can always upgrade using the 8010 ROM, annoying as that is.

That is true. Also I was thinking of going the 8010 route, but I guess I will wait a bit longer.

I think Samsung has something against me personally. Just kidding, but really, I have a t-mobile t999L GS3. Every other carrier in North America has updated their identical devices to kitkat except tmobile. And I have the 8013, which basically the same thing has happened. What are the chances?

I think Samsung just said F it. They want to sell more tablets. But its not like the update is gonna be worth a crap anyway. It's not like they're changing the whole UI. I think it's BS. That is why I most likely won't buy another Samsung tablet. No reason why this hasn't been updated yet.

I know, I dont.
Althought Note 10.1 has a great spen and it ws also the first reason I bought it, I definitely wont do same mistake again. I stay far away from Samsung. When you buy their flagship, you expect that it has also premium support. But no, even their crappest cheap plastic frisbees have gotten better support.
I dont know, but I probably buy a new android phone when I replace my Note (yes this is also my huge phone) and for a tablet, im thinking about getting Surface Pro 3 and maybe iPad Air2 if they have fixed the problem iPad Air has alot... but what ever I do, Samsung hasnt anything to do with it.

I'm kinda liking what LG is bringing to the table. I have the NOTE 3 but the G3 is pretty impressive phone. If LG proves itself with a good tablet and good software support, I will jump ship and go back to LG like I was before smart phones emerged.

So it is easy to lose track of time. The other note 10.1 2012 models have all been updated over a month ago. Did we miss that train? Or do you think it still might happen for the gt n8013??
gt n8000 48 days ago
gt n8010 36 days ago

+100 ! I have the Note and LG Optimus Pro. I have NEVER flashed away from LG stock because it is such a good phone and stock is just super. Its screen is 10x better and I realize what I have been missing. EVERYTHING on the LG just works ALL the time...
Cannot wait for LG G3 and dump Samsung. LG updated to Kitkat so long ago (calculated in XDA waiting days!!)
Samsung is a slipshod operation with hyper advertising..... The truth is they were the only one to take Apple on, but it does not mean they made great products.
OK, enough ranting !!!

S5 received 5.0, looks like we should be getting ours soon!

The carrier S5 wont receipt lolipop for quite a while longer, just because the international one got it doesn't mean we will.

I could care less about lollipop honestly. My Note 4 is butter.
Doesn't anyone read anymore? By that I mean the history of US carrier updates vs. international updates. We go through this EVERY OS upgrade. International phones are unlocked with no carrier bloat or needed approvals. Samsung can push the OS updates right to them or through Kies. The US Carriers receive the proposed update from Samsung, it then gets a pile of bloat that the carrier wants added to it, it goes back to Samsung for that and Samsung testing, then sent to the US Carrier for testing....IF...IF all is well, then the carrier then decides when is the best time to push out the update...maybe it is strategically approximated just AFTER a new phone comes out hoping people will rush to get the new device already updated....maybe it would be a slow period when they know they can dedicate their customer service to anyone out there having problems with the OTA...bottom line is it takes quite some time after the international phones get their update before any US Carrier sees it. And luckily for you guys it is usually Sprint and T-Mobile that stay ahead of that curve...my guess is the locked bootloaders and security on the other 2 carriers slows them down.
I Think you know already that no one reads anymore!
I doubt anyone reads anymore lol , its the same drill year in year out .

Show me the Ota
the latest flavor of Google's mobile operating system is now available for the GS5 in Poland, blog site SamMobile said Wednesday. Poland has been used by mobile device makers as a starting point to test out new Android updates before it spreads around the world. As such, the Polish launch is a good sign that Lollipop should soon start to pop up in other regions.
The Polish version of the Galaxy S5 has the same model number as the version used in Europe, according to blog site SlashGear, which means European users could be next on the list. Samsung is also likely to launch Android 5.0 in its home base of South Korea at some point in the near future.
A similar scenario has played out with LG's G3 smartphone. Owners of the phone residing in Poland were first on the list to receive a bite of Lollipop. Just a couple of weeks later, G3 owners in South Korea started seeing the update appear on their devices. Android 5.0 could reach GS5 owners in other regions before the month and year are over.
The US is a different story, however. Android updates in the US can take awhile as they have to be tested by not only the device makers but also the mobile carriers who must also certify and plan the rollout. As such, Galaxy S5 owners in the US are unlikely to get a lick of Lollipop until 2015.

What the???

Why is it that the S5 is getting the rollout to Lollipop now for Verizon and the Note 3 isn't getting it yet? Verizon started the OTA for the S5 today. This is a bunch of crap.
I am not happy. If I can't root my Note 3 on 4.4.4 at least let me have Lollipop

I believe they normally move from newest to oldest. S5 being the newest. Note 3 should be next hopefully. Or Note 4 then note 3 if the Note 4 did not get it yet.
My buddy has the note 4 and hasn't received it yet. I would assume it would be next in line. Hopefully if verizon drags its ass someone will find exploits and port touch wiz lollipop over to us. As much as I hate touch wiz I do rely a lot on some of the apps CM doesn't give me like s notes.

s5 does not have a replacement on the shelves yet note 3 has the note 4 replacing it. Note 3 are on the verge of not being carried at verizon stores anymore. So any work done to improve or update the note 3 is non profitable. It does not take a lot to realize big red only cares about 1 thing the black numbers being big and red numbers being small note 3 represents red numbers.
This very situation is why i feel carriers need to be stripped of the ability to mess with phones bad enough manufactures paste junk all over the phone.

I said the exact same thing soon as we found out the 4.4.4 wasn't rootable. It sucks but the newer phones always get the upgrades first. I got kinda excited once I saw the Note 3 Lollipop video but once they clamped down on the Note 3 and 4 with Verizon I'm done. It appears the Nexus 6 rumors are true and that's what I'm holding out for. It's lacking some things I'll truly miss like removable battery and sd card but for me I've been modding phones since the Audiovox 6700 and I love flashing roms too much to stop. Sorry as I know it's taboo to talk about other phones in this forum.
I too like to be able to mod my phone the way I see fit. If this is how it is going to be with Verizon I too will be jumping ship from Samsung to the Nexus 6. I have a funny feeling that Verizon will try to lock it down as well, so if I decide to go that way I will try to get my Nexus from the play store so I know it will be unlocked and I can do what I want with it.
The Note 3 will see lollipop way down the line.
This is the thing I don't understand about people who are on Verizon. I bought the Note 3 knowing the bootloader was locked down and that rooting and romming was going to be very limited, if at all. This was commen sense. Also Verizon had been locking down phones for how many years now? These complaints just seem maddening or they're coming from people who didn't nt understand what they were getting into.

I had no problem with the boot loader, I was happy using Safestrap. At least I could do some customizing that way.
I heard Samsung was upset with carriers that they take so long to push updates they already have. it hurts them in the long run verizon doesn't care what phone you have. So it goes Google Samsung then carrier or Verizon rather. So they take a long time. Only phone I belive to get fastest updates are Google like nexus. I believe they push it directly to those phones themselves.

Marshmallow for AT&T variant?

Hey guys,
I'm gonna search but I figured I ask in the meantime... is there a possibility of 6.0.1 coming to tab 4 that's on AT&T? I'm primarily interested in doze for tian device so I can get longer standby times...
Thanks!

Not going to happen. Samsung only develops for devices for a two year window, which the tab 4 is no longer in. Plus this device is a low priority for Samsung; there are some tab 4 variants which still haven't even received a lollipop update. Finally, the AT&T devices have locked bootloaders, so there's no ROM development now and likely never will be. So in short, there's virtually no chance of your device getting marshmallow. Sorry

It came out in May of 2014. The real reason is it's not enough of a flagship device (i.e. not a big seller) for Samsung to care about. We can talk ourselves around in circles, but at the end of the day, this device is not going to see Marshmallow (other than Cyanogenmod 13, which is impossible for the AT&T and Verizon variants due to the locked bootloader nightmare)

Keep S6E+ as long as You can?

Hello XDA Friends!
Should You keep S6E+ as long as You can?
Samsung dropped the plans for Oreo eventough it announced working on it (Oreo) with T-Mobile.
I think that the end of sec. updates is near... I hope I'm wrong.
It's a pity cause S6E+ along side Note 4 the best phone ever from Samsung.
My SoC : Exynos version cause I'm living in Europe.
Cute example: the price of a new S6E+ in my country is very high. 2 months ago S6E+ was more expensive than a new S8!
The stores are no dummies, they know what's good.
XDA advanced User even told me (having a lot of phones) that S6E+ is the only phone that he doesn't want to root... cause He is very pleased with that phone.
My take: Keep this phone People, it's the last phone that has a screen not so easily to scratch. S7, S8, S9 screens are very potent to damage and they have worse original protections (silicon, cases from Samsung) than S6E+.
I think all of that (among "worser" battery after each sec. update) is a marketing move to keep the sale of new Galaxy S on a high level
Dear Users, what will You do? Keep S6E+ or sell and buy .... what?
BTW Did S6E+ receive official update to Samsung Experiance?
