Honor 7 - how to change/disable default Music app? - Honor 7 General

Is there any method to effectively change the default Music app without the root?
Changing in the settings (Default applications) doesn't work - when I connect any device (headphones or car-audio system)
to my phone via Bluetooth, still starts Huawei's music app (and I want to do so the PowerAMP).
BTW: This app can be disabled ;/

How can I disable the app?
Gesendet von meinem Honor 7.

On Huawei P8 Lite (with root) I freezed this app with Titanium Backup, but on Honor 7 I don't have a root.

If you just want it to play nothing when it connects to the car then simply delete everything in the stock application's library - then it has nothing to play.
If you want to launch PowerAMP on connect then this could be your solution: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cp2.start.and.play.music.player

settings>manage apps>default apps settings>music

Did you read what I wrote? This method doesn't work on Huawei.

Hi,
I confirm, I'm using n7player (but tried with google music player too) and it doesn't work.

Disable apps

What are the recommended apps to disable and/or get rid of? I did a factory reset because of nasty wake locks and trying to figure everything that can be disabled without losing features or anything. I know some of this is subjective, but still like some ideas. Thanks.

Until I can completely remove some bloat, I have the following turned off so far. It's by no means a thorough list.
Accessories
Audible
BlurbCheckout
Calculator (installed 3rd party Calculator)
Caller Name ID
Cloud
FamilyBase Companion
Google Play Books
HP Print Service Plugin
Message+ (Didn't even bother to figer out what this is before I killed it)
Messages (installed Hangouts and/or 3rd party messagin app)
My InfoZone
NFL Mobile
Smart Remote (downloaded the latest WatchOn app from Samsung)
Swype
Verizon Location Agent
Verizon Support and Protection
Verizon Tones
VZ Navigator
As far as the text-to-speech deletion goes, just uninstall whichever ones you don't anticipate needing.
Settings>Language and Input>text-to-speech options>Listen to an example. Really it's personal preference, and uninstalling unused tts voice data only serves to free up internal storage. For example, the "high quality" female English US voice for Google TTS is 244MB, The Samsung high quality voice data is around 90MB per language/gender.

Samsung has launched s5 devices with less permissions do to whatever you want! So maybe you have to root your device (which is not possible right now bcoz it will cut your warranty out) So another solution for it is try to search for an app on play store which disables system applications! Without root
I've turned off the following:
Accessories
Audible
Blurb Checkout
Caller Name ID
Family Base Companion
Flipboard
Google Play Books
Google Play Newsstand
IMDb
Isis Mobile Wallet
My InfoZone
My Magazine
NFL Mobile
Samsung Link Platform
Slacker
Smart Remote
VZ Navigator
This is my complete list... everything still works (except the Samsung bloat crap like S-voice and the verizon garbage pre-loaded). I did turn off some Google apps that were needless, and the Samsung fitness stuff (e.g. ANT+ connection, fitness, etc.), in addition to other things (S-pen, fonts, etc.)

I believe samsung billing is for app purchases through their proprietary app store
Samsung Link is a protocol for connecting only with samsung TV's/laptops - has functionality for screen-mirroring, DLNA only with samsung branded devices.
Samsung Galaxy... I'm not entirely sure what it does to be honest. I've tested fairly extensively if any functionality / apps / services are broken as a result, and everything still seems to work fine. I have a suspicion that this is related to a tutorial/demo function.

Ah ok, thanks! I see that you have the "Downloads" app turned off. What does that app do? I know it's part of media, which is giving me a lot of wakelocks. The three things that are part of "Media", can you uninstall all three, and what does each one do?

Downloads app is just an app that shows a history/list of everything you've recently downloaded (e.g. in the downloads folder). I prefer to use ESFileExplorer as it's more versatile as a file manager, and I don't care for an app that tracks file downloads/history.
In previous android versions, I believe the Media app was part of what cached/listed files such as images (thumbnails), music files, docs, etc. I vaguely recall disabling it in the past to find that all my MP3's and photos no longer appeared in the gallery/google music app. I would not disable it if my memory serves me correctly.
Yeah, your battery usage looks about in-par with mine. I came from a GNex and was used to seeing display always overtaking androidOS/systemUI (man, that phone had atrocious battery life and screen-on time)... the GS5 has such a great power-sipping display that I came to the same surprise as you to find it ranks on-par/sometimes below OS usage in a normal day. The battery life on this phone rocks.
EDIT: Media usage will sometimes spike if you've recently added a bunch of new files (photos, mp3's, etc.) to your device, as it's scanning/caching/indexing lists to the files. I'd give it a day or two if that's the case, and you'll see it won't consume much of anything once things are static on your phone.

Oh OK. I see. So perfectly safe to disable downloads. What about the media app itself? Do you have it disabled? That screen shot with the high media usage, I'm not sure we have it was so high. It's first time it has been like that and I haven't added any more music. Another question.
Do You Know What The Chrome sandbox is? And does your keyboard ever do that thing with the capital letters?

I don't have the media app disabled and wouldn't recommend it. I also wouldn't disable chrome sandbox ( though I'm not sure of its function, its installed alongside the app so it may be a plugin for other apps).
Not sure what keyboard caps problem you're referring to. I use only the android keyboard (not Samsung nor Swype).

[Q] Auto-Start with CM

Hi
I plan to use a Nexus Player as Media Center with Plex App. I would need it to autostart at start of Nexus Player and in case of crash that Plex app restarts by itself. I would need the Nexus Player to keep stuck running Plex and that's it. Is it possible if I install CM12*on it ?*Looks to be impossible with official rom
Thanks
Vincèn
Wrong section for this.
U can use an automation app to do that, on stock or cm12. Llama, or tasker will do it.
Target home launcher. Set Plex as your home launcher. I do this with Kodi and it works wonderfully

No, it's an app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bh.android.TargetHomeLauncher&hl=en
You'll have to find the apk and sideload it, though. Not sure your level of experience with that but there are multiple threads and methods.

No big deal, the question is to know if such system survives the automatic updates of the app selected as default home ! Any experience with that ?

It hasn't changed on me unless I've explicitly changed it myself, which is easy to do. The only caveat is that setting Plex as your home app might restrict your ability to access other apps, including the leanback launcher since it does not offer an interface option to select them. I don't know how you'd work around this to get at say, the NP settings menu. In Kodi, you can go to Apps > Android Apps and then launch NP apps from there, but Plex is only going to show you your media.

Default app triggered by Bluetooth

When I enable bluetooth on my S5 in my car, it auto syncs with my Ford Sync systems, so I can play my stuff through the car speakers. When connected, it auto triggers an app and plays the audio straight away. Is there anyway to select which app gets automatically triggered to play? I can't see why its choosing one app and not another.
Thanks,
Jon
Have a look under
Settings>>Applications>>Default Applications.
If your bluetooth app is listed there, press the 'clear' button next to it.
The next time you start bluetooth audio, you'll be prompted to select which app you want to use.....
http://i.imgur.com/rVnFwJM.jpg
There is nothing under Default Applications. The app in question is Smart Audiobook Player. Its so annoying because I want my podcast player to auto start, not Smart Audiobook Player. Surely there is a way to stop this?
Is this a 'system' or 'user' app?
And do you have root access?
http://i.imgur.com/rVnFwJM.jpg
I do not have root access. Not sure what you mean by system or user app. is there a way for me to check?
Did you install the app yourself (user) or did it come preloaded (system) on the phone?......
http://i.imgur.com/rVnFwJM.jpg
I installed it myself. Its Smart AudioBook Player.
Uninstalling this app *should* clear any default startup actions......
Then re-install it as normal.
The next time you enable Ford sync/bluetooth, you *should* see a dialogue box prompting you which app to choose for the job.
If you don't see this, and this app still auto starts, then it might be worth looking in the app settings to see if this auto start can be prevented......
These are the only options I can think of.....If they don't work, I really don't know what else you could try......
Edit.....is 'Ford Sync Systems' an app on your device too?
If it is, there may be something in that apps settings that is auto-activating the other app......

Unbrand Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow widget refreshing

Hi there!
Bought an chinese android unit with android marshmallow, all i expect from it is to autorun torque widgets on homescreen, start the jetAudio player of mine, and to turn on the skycash parking widget.
After turning off and turn on the unit - the skycash widget is perma connecting to data, torque widgets are frozen (if u add any new one - they start working), and none app can autorun (music player included).
I bet its a well known issue, so it is possible to deal with it somehow?
The unit is eincar 2 din 6.0 unit (i cant give a link cuz of spam protect, but i assume they put same software everywhere in their units)
I'll be gratefull for any solution.
PS. I was ofc trying already SU apps, autostart apps, givin all possible permisions to the unit, and so on..
Ah, and forgot to mention - its the [email protected] debugging mode pass ROM

How can it run with only 256MB of RAM?
Does it work fine with Android apps?
Then, about Torque, did you install his widgets?
If you set a widget on the home screen, it will call torque on boot or even if it's not loaded during normal usage.

It runs just fine, lil "laggy" when got chrome, navi, torque and mp3 turned on.. but works good.
The main thing is about no refreshing the widgets AFTER reboot.
I've somehow forced him to take the torque widgets.. but as usual it looks like "Torque not installed, download it from app store", while it is installed from the appstore :x and it does not call torque even if i have it on homescreen and choose it in autostart app.. Only way that it worked with autostarting any app was FCC car launcher's autostart option..

Well, sounds like memory isolation safety feature on Android 6.
Any apps cannot call for any other apps in background.
In fact you shouldn't need the widgets, Torque should boot automatically.
What's the problem using car launcher's autostart?

Rooting bases question

Hi Xda !
I will receive my op6t on tuesday.
I already like the phone for his specs, and the os seems to be near to a pure os (light and fast).
The only thing is irritating me is all the apps you can't uninstall as the google suit (duo, chrome, youtube and so on).
What is the best solution to remove or completly disable those apps ? (i mean uninstall or at least disable apps icon/hidde it from the app list)
If root is the only one solution which method is the most simple one ? and the less risky from brick ?
Last one, after doing this am i able to do roms updates from official source without any problem ?
I'm under linux (debian) or can have a mac but no windows
Thanks for your time and answers.
You can simply disable the apps with no problem (no root required), and you will still receive updates.

You should be able to disable most apps without any issue. I've disabled Google Play Music, Movies and Gmail without any problems.
I think disabling is not only safer than uninstalling, but easier as as well!
