Official Boost LG G Stylo Unbrick Guide ZV4 - LG G Stylo Guides, News, & Discussion

I personally Tested this
Continue only if you have messed with the /system partition (and don't remember what you changed) and you are on 5.1.1 this will remove root but you will keep your data
Okay well now
Make sure you have a Windows PC
Download the LG Drivers from here
Download this 5.1.1 System.img
Place downloaded img to your external SD via adapter or through a spare phone you have
Now place SD back into your phone
Reboot your device into download mode
Download this folder and unzip it to your desktop:
Run ports.bat from within the extracted folder, to find your correct port (use the one with: LGVZANDNETDIAG1)
In the LG_Root folder hold shift and right click and choose open command windows here
Type
Code:
Send_Command.exe \\.\COM6
(Make sure your COM port number is correct, it varies)
Type
Code:
dd if=/storage/external_SD/system.img bs=8192 seek=42816 count=327680 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0
you will see a flashing _ line instead of the # let it do it's thing you will know it finished when the # shows back up
Type
Code:
LEAVE
and press enter and let your device reboot

What carrier is this 5.1.1 image for? T-Mobile/Metro PCS or Boost Mobile?
Thanks for providing a way to unbrick.

Wouldn't the system.img from this thread work?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/lg-g-stylo-boost-mobile-t3113080

There's no real need to go back to 5.0.2 anymore. 5.1.1 came with improvements and ui enhancements. Just save yourself the trouble. As long as folks can unbrick to 5.1.1 all is good.

Yeah but I'm stuck on rooted 5.0.2 on boost lol
If I can either use this to upgrade system to get on 5.1.1 (would that even work?)
Or get system back to fully stock on 5.0.2 which should let me upgrade, then it would be great.
*edit
I'm going for it with the image. if I brick my phone then I can just tell LG it bricked trying to update

You can unbrick with this guide. Just ask 6th_Hokage to post his 5.1.1 boot.img and modem.img to flash along with the system.img he posted. When we got recovery for the metro stylo that is how I flashed it to my phone using the send_command.

I've tried using regular Send_command for the system.img i linked before and would get a message saying its not signed.
Hoping doing it this way bypasses that.
If 6th_Hokage can send me all that other stuff and I can upgrade manually piece by piece that would be amazing.

I would have to pull the other stuff since technically its untouched still

currently on the flashing _ with 5.0.2 system.image,
Phone says Firmware Update at 0%
how long should this process take?
*edit
switched to #
Phone was still at 0%
typed LEAVE and restarted
Now I just have to test if I can update phone.
*edit 2
Phone staying on LG boot screen a long time...
*edit 3
pretty sure I bricked it
I can still access recovery menu and update.zip still fails on it

Yeah despite it working. I dunno how well I can suggest such crazy steps..
Basically asking someone to brick it so they can update it.
Crazy rollercoaster of emotions for me but I'm glad I went in knowing full well that I more than likely was going to end up with a bricked phone.
Finally my months long journey for getting to 5.1.1 has finally happened.
Thank you so much for uploading that system.img for 5.1.1 couldn't have gotten here without it!

Im 100% sure you can apply same steps/method to update from 5.0.2 to 5.1.1 (Latest version) without having to brick your device..... In other words this can be Boost Unbrick/Update guide if you see it that way

Yeah you can probably skip straight to using 5.1.1 system.img and then updating.
But I rather put down my exact steps.

@6th_Hokage, I would like to attempt this on my Fido variant. How did you find the offset of 42816?

Very nice sir! It's about time this leaked! I'd hit thanks more than once if it would let me.
I've never needed it, but always been just a little cautious with this little tablet due to not being able to do a full firmware restore myself.
You should be getting a flood of praise from all the folks who took the lollipop OTA and lost the ability to root and run bumped boot images. :good:
I recommend using timmytim v410 stock rom after downgrading with the kdz because the kdz is simply a test kdz lol so just Google : V410 Stock Rom

will this work for Virgin mobile as well? I haven 't had a need yet...but knowing meeee...eventually.
Worked for my VM version of the phone. I think the phone sets itself from the network(Sprint, Boost, Virgin) when you activate it.
Very well ,Confirmed Works on boost mobile only method. helps me get off or bypass screen massage Blocked by FRP ,flashed with Odin thanks
Thank you very much! Also for the confirmation it works..... (i did hit the thanks button)
Downloading now,....... Just got this device due to a insurance claim so this is a completelt new phone to me and I really want to either start or add to one specific form till we get a complete spot on the fourms.... Any way my ideal or a good ideal for us is to add everthing that is confirmed working as on today and add it to one fourm and reserve like 10 entrys for specific problems and the solutions. Or just in a easy format so everything is not so confusing till we get our device a Fourm started instead of a thread thats confusing and hard to follow.... Anyone with me???? Its a new device and we need development so bad.. im stuck in a bootloop as of now and cant find the info to help me and its so aggervating.... someone will have to maintain it of course

This does not work. I've tried it multiple times on multiple versions of Odin. This will not work if you use Boost Mobile. It either fails, hangs at flashing boot.img, or hangs at SetupConnection.

This works to get you back to stock from bootloop. I tried my hand at rooting this little SOB (TWRP,Magisk) and tripped the Knox counter bc I forgot to wipe it. Reboot came up with "Validation Failure" and I was stuck. I stumbled over this post and with nothing to lose other than $130.
First piece of advice...Use Odin 3.12.3 ONLY!! I tried the latest version and it didn't work. Download the files, place them in the appropriate boxes and flash. reboot into recovery, wipe the cache/data and you should be good. Mine took quite a while after hanging on the Boost mobile splash screen, but about 3 reboots later, it brought me to the configuration screen. It's up, running and I even got the OTA software update, but then again, it is stock.

t-mobile v20 h91810p twrp installation help!

I know I need to rollback my version to 10k, however I am stymied by antirollback problems using lgup! I could really use some assistance on getting this to rollback to 10k. I have been reading the forums for 2 days now, hundreds of posts, and nothing works. I cant use the dirty cow method of installing twrp as it was patched and my phone auto downloaded the stupid update... Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks Zernon916
You can't. You're stuck on P. You said it yourself it is anti roll back.

Right. Upon reboot after hitting start in LGUP, it went to the stock android firmware upgrade screen, said 100% and rebooted . Did a battery pull when the LG logo came up. Put it back in and used recovery button combo (Volume - and Power). Said yes 2 times and it booted to android instead of twrp.

Successfull roll-back from oreo Beta back to Nouget

After using the manual Oreo update 2 weeks, Flashing several treble roms. Most with little to no trouble. I ended up with no more 4g or LTE signals on my L24 USA model Honor 7X.
So I took the plunge and tried to roll-back from beta oreo back to EMUI 5.
It worked. It took only few minutes to complete. I wrote down the steps, it was 22 steps.
If you do attempt this too, be advised I do not know what possible things could go wrong, and you do so at your own risk.
I will likely refine the document if after reading it many times I find it too confusing.
You will need backed up images of your original firmware. AND the original /data/hw_init folder
If / when huawei finally release a "full-ota" for your device/ region . this will not be needed, but until then here is a method to return.
Thanks are needed here:

Nice
I bet many users will follow this tutorial in the next days....
I was worried cause of the partition changes on Oreo that the downgrade would be very trick... But you got'it right
Still, wont work for me... (Stuck on FRP)
On About the Phone, is the model correct? Isn't it BND-AL10? (Since you used that model's image)
Great work.
Any tips for me:
- Boot phone
Using the SD card, is there any trick to prevent the phone to reboot? Any app? Any other trick?
- UPDATE.APP
All the files that i tried, NON make it passed the 5%...
This is the only way in that i have to the device...
-Relock Bootloader (?)
Just can't do it via Fastboot... Is there any other way?
Keep the good work

I have BND-L24.
I used AL-10 , basically at random. Firmware finder showed they had a roll-back fukk-ota.
My about phone screen shows correct . Even when I booted the China firmware.

The file is already linked on the directions.
These directions do not tell you to use the hwota-auto-update.zip. if you are following those direction, kindly ask in that thread
Big thanks for the hint to use "adb reboot recovery" instead of TWRP's reboot button - I've been pondering for hours over what I've done wrong, and turns out this was it.

No, it is based on using a modified stock-ish recovery, which needs unlocked bootloader to flash.
And besides, this was a hackish method to get me by before there was a full OTA file for roll back.
I think your best bet on locked bootloader will be the host file mod and python server method hackintosh has talked about. He calls it erecovery. And it is intended to be done with the stock erecovery.

Hey I've posted a few posts around on one of these I got the SE on the latest firmware. I'd there a way to downgrade to earlier Oreo or nougat service rom without bootloader unlock. I bought the credits then found I was to high of firm Ware. I can't find straight answers any where I've spent all day downloading, and trying to update, flash whatever I can all ending in error. All bnd l34 I've got 344 it's files which fail at 5% I've never used one of the fancy heuweis before. Used to lg and Samsung. I'm no noob on flashing . Hisuite does not show rollback options... Like I said just can't find any straight answers. I'm stuck with this one either way but root would be nice
