Verizon More Everything Month2Month Discount - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'd like to see if any of you with the Verizon "More Everything" plan will get to keep your "Month2Month" $25 discount when you switch to the 2015 Moto X. This was one of the issues we had with the Nexus 6, prior to VZW white listing all IMEIs.
There is confirmation that the new phone with work on Verizon and it appears that "Advanced Calling" works as well. Their new BYOD policy states you can bring any CDMA phone with no contract. I'm hoping that I dont have to switch to the full "no contract" plan, as it is actually a little more expensive than my current plan.
So, once you-all start getting your phones, can someone confirm that you are keeping the $25 discount please? Thanks!

As long as you have the discount already, it will work. Even a new customer who brings this device will get it right away, since there is no device being subsidized by Big Red.

My wife has been getting a discount for a job she worked 5 years ago and was just recently asked to update job info. Definetly not on top of things vzw.
But as stated in post above I think you will be fine until or if you make a plan change.

The month to month ($25) discount is different than the employer based discount (usually a percentage of the data plan).
With the Nexus 6 (prior to white listing), you would loose the $25 discount on the More Everything plan because the IMEI's were not in VZW's system. This didn't seem to have an affect on the employer discount. I'm guessing with their new policy that all will be well, but I'd like someone to confirm that has this plan and the new Moto X Pure.

It should be fine my contract ended yesterday and I have it applied already. Swapping Sim card shouldn't matter.
When I get mine I'll let you know otherwise it will be a lot of arguing with VZW

From what I saw with the Nexus 6, you should be fine. I'd bet you can even get the "out of contract" discount for not ordering a new device under contract.
I'm still curious if anyone is having issues with the Month2Month discount on the More Everything (Edge) plan...

**Confirmed** Verizon giving me an early upgrade?

So I went on My Verizon account a few minutes ago to pay my bill and this is what it says next to the picture of my phone:
"Eligible for a Discount!"
"You ARE eligible to upgrade with discounted pricing. If you upgrade on or after 5/18/12 you are eligible to receive an additional loyalty discount."
And I clicked that and went to the page that shows available phones and pricing and it's showing 2-yr contract prices e.g. iPhone4 16GB new 199.99 and Droid Charge new 249.99. I thought it was an error and I clicked the Droid Charge and followed through up to payment and the total for the phone was 249.99 plus tax and activation. Obviously I didn't follow through because if I were to get a new phone it would be the Nexus Prime =D.
Last time I went to checked out phones it said I was not currently eligible for an upgrade and showed off-contract pricing. Is anyone else's account showing this? It has thrown me off a little bit.
Update 10/8:
Went to talk to a rep today and the main line on a contract gets to upgrade after 12 months. The pricing is based on a new 2-year commitment plus $20. Early upgrades can only be done at Verizon retail stores and online. Nexus Prime, here I come.
I saw the early upgrade as well.
I am not receiving the same treatment

my mom's line says the same thing. they'll let you upgrade and renew your contract but the phone will be at 2 year price with no additional discount for upgrading on or after your upgrade date.

I got an email from the with the early upgrade. I guess they want to add an additional 2 years to our contract. If you keep upgrading every chance you get, pretty soon, you've going to be locked into a 4 year contract making it almost impossible to leave.

How can they do that? By signing a new 2-year agreement the old agreement is invalid. That means that your contract expires 2 years after you sign the new agreement but not the 2 years plus the extra time left on the current contract.
The main line can actually upgrade once a year. But I at lower discounted price that 18 mths.

The prices is it showing me are prices I would pay at 18 months e.g. iPhone 4 16GB new 199.99 and Droid Charge new 249.99. These are fully discounted prices not partially discounted. Also, I thought Verizon did away with annual upgrades even for the main line?
Verizon did get rid of annual upgrades, but only earlier this year. If you signed a contract before they took the annual upgrade away then you are still grandfathered in.

Because they are some shiesty bastards lol. I called enough times and complained about my droid eris being laggy and not having enough ram to run the system let alone any added apps. I told them the only way to get it to run right is to flash a new rom, but that would void my warranty. Agent said he would let me chose any new device for free other than the thunderbolt(which was just released at the time)... So I had them send me a new fascinate and got to keep my eris, don't ask me how or why but they did it. About a week later when I went to log on my vzw account to pay bill I seen my contract was extended one year(on top of the 2yr I agreed to on the eris 6mo prior) without even telling me!! I didnt get too upset because they sent me a brand new fassy for free. My point is: Vzw wireless policy depends on the region of the country your call got directed to... I have been told so many different policies on what they can and cant do, you would think your talking to a completely different company. Vzw is the like the damn weather man, the forecast changes everyday!!!
Signing a new contract does not necessarily void a previous one unless it explicitly states so. Ever notice you sign a two year contract but they let you upgrade after 18 months.
2 reasons..1. they want as many people to update prior to the new 4th quarter phones come out. that way people will have used their upgrade discounts and pay a higher price for the latest phone.
2. they want to jack the revenues for the 4th quarter where vast majority of pure profit is made (think black friday).

By signing a new contact chances are you will no longer get the unlimited 4g, but fall in to there new tiered data plan. Be very cautious when upgrading your phone if you have unlimited now.

This is false...if you upgrade from 3g smartphone to 4g smartphone you keep unlimited data long as you had it before the tired plans went into effect. I called about it and went on the website to check. It would let me upgrade to lte and keep the same unlimited data just had to pay retail since im under contract right now.

Yea like I said I went through the entire process up to payment. It offered me the $30 2GB plan and my old Unlimited $29.99 plan. Obviously I would choose the latter. Only if this evasive Nexus Prime gets launched soon...
called vzn last week about the missed calls and not getting text or pic messaging and the tech i talked to said the problem is known and that vzn was allowing early upgrades plus an extra $50 off if you have a fascinate. told her that was nice but i shouldnt have to pay for a new phone since mine was less than a year old. still waiting for the second tech to call me back. not sure what they are going to offer as a replacement phone yet but it had better be good.
If you have the unlimited data plan, make sure they do not rope you in on their new data plans. When my Fascinate got replaced, the reps at the VZW store also changed my data plan as well. I was furious when I found that out, and they refused to fix it.
Called the VZW customer support, I explained the whole ordeal and they fixed my data plan back to unlimited. Just be cautious when you try to upgrade, make sure you'll get that unlimited data plan (disregard this post if you entered Verizon with the new data plans )

Cancelling Verizon without etf

I really want to buy a nexus 4 and use T-Mobile prepaid service however i am currently locked into a contract until dec2013. My current options is to pay a $200 etf and sell my current galaxy nexus, however i would prefer to press my luck trying to not pay an etf. Has anyone had any luck doing so lately? I know about 10 years ago i cancelled att because i moved and didn't have any coverage at my new house and my cell phone is my primary phone. Just wanted to get some opinions, thanks!

I don't think you can get out of a etf should you decide to cancel your service. Its just a matter of whether you don't mind owing Verizon and just go ahead and get T-Mobile.
Pretty sure the only ways to not pay an etf on most carriers are:
- moving to an area of no coverage
- death (seriously)
- military deployment
& I am not sure of the others. & all of those, you need to provide paperwork/proof.
Good luck. I am currently wishing I could get out of my T-Mobile contract.

Another option would be to use an "excessive" amount of data in a roaming area. This appears to have worked for a Sprint user.

I did the same thing last month. they hit me with the etf but the way i look at it was that i was spending over $100 a month on my GNex with verizon, so etf was equal to two months of service with verizon. So i just swallowed it and paid the amount. you'll break even in about 3 months instead of waiting for Dec. VZW has you by your b***s.....
The monthly savings will compensate for your etf in 3 months but if you have an Unlimited data contract you can do a transfer of liability on that line. I just did this and sold my Unlimited line for $125( on HowardForums.com) and then there is no ETF, but you will lose your phone number. Is your phone number worth $325(selling of line + etf), to me it was.

Verizon's ETF is $350 minus $10 for every month you've paid into your contract and they will not let you out of it. If you do port the number early do it at the end of your billing period as Verizon will continue to bill you through the end of the cycle. I had to call them and get them to refund me 3 weeks that I didn't have service with them that they still automatically billed me for. They claimed they don't know when the port actually goes through so they continue to bill you just in case you change your mind.
join solavei! only $49 unlimited a month no contract and from the money you'll be saving monthly you'll break even in a month or two
There isn't a loophole to get out of an etf right now.

Don't have to lose your number, you could have ported the number over to google voice (or any other carrier) and just told verizon to provision you a new number on that line.
If you transfer responsibility of your line to someone else you don't pay an ETF.

You might be better off posting this in the Sprint section or maybe even the Verizon section. I do not know why a Nexus owner would ever want to go to the Verizon if you know what I mean.
I got out ETF free from Verizon a couple of months ago because I got bad service by my house and I am loving that I can now purchase a Nexus from the play store and use it on a pre-paid plan with no contracts or ETF's.
EDIT: This thread is so old. Why did you bring it back to life?

You can get someone to take over your contract. What worked for me was I paid someone $100 to take over my contract with Rogers and i still kept my SGS3(which I sold to buy a N4) which was better than paying $500 to cancel

The easiest way to get out of the contract is to make the carrier cancel it for you. "How do you make the carrier cancel the contract?" you ask...simple...roam.
Even though you probably have unlimited roaming on your plan, the carrier has a threshold that they really don't want you to cross because it costs them money when you use another carrier's towers. If you keep crossing that threshold the carrier will basically kick you off their network, effectively cancelling your contract.

The rumors is that T-mobile will pay the early termination fees (ETF) on your current contract phone from other carriers and break your current contract with them. It depends if you are in a contract and how much the ETF is.
I'm thinking this can be abused, since what if you sign up for a different carrier, get a discounted phone, then after a month, switch to t-mobile and not worry about the penalty (ETF).

The only people really that would probably consider this are people from sites like this that can't unlock their boot loaders. Which is a very very small handful of people overall. Most people know nothing of development and stuff that we all are into.
Why would Joe schmoe care to do this? Unless they really hate their current carrier. They're gonna still be locked into a contract with T-Mobile.

I know I plan on switching from Verizon to T-Mobile. Up in Boston T-Mobile has a very strong LTE signal and I would be saving about $40-$50 a month on my bill. I have a single line with Verizon. Plus I have a Moto X that's AT&T unlocked, but I also have a Verizon one that should be unlocked as well. Now just figuring out which T-Mobile plan is for me!
This would mostly help with family plans. 4 phones unlimited talk, text, and internet. 500mb of it high speed, $100. Would save me a bunch.

T-Mobile doesn't have contracts anymore. It will be interesting to see how they deal with the potential abuse here.
For now, this deal is just a rumor, though, so any speculation is premature.

How does this work? They tell you to switch from T-Mobile and get $200 "Switchers Bill Credit" before your third bill from AT&T. Then they say trade in your phone for up to $250.
Ok, well I answered my second question by actually typing this out. I was gunna ask why not just get a crappy spare phone you have lying around and trade it in for $250. They use "up to $250" so that answers that. They'd just give you a dollar or something. On to the first question: Will they enforce that you have to be coming from T-Mobile? If so, will they just make you produce a recent T-Mo bill? What would happen if you just kept "switching to them" then producing the same bill as proof?
And as you pointed out, what would prevent someone from just switching between the two a bunch and getting a bunch of money? Actually, maybe that part about getting your Switcher Credit "on or before your third AT&T Wireless bill" is how they're going to prevent that. If you're not with them anymore, they won't send you that, basically making you stay with them for at least 3 months.

It's basically what T-Mobile did for business credits you have to port your number from said service provider and you don't get your credit til the 4th bill. The T-Mobile deal is only for family plans with 350$ or less in etf .

I read somewhere it has to be a 3+ line family plan too. I'm curious to see how this pans out as I have two lines (family plan) and was strongly considering going switching to TMO as with my wife's work discount it comes out to be cheaper than Verizon (with her discount) and T-Mobile seems rather good on having the phones we want nowadays.
http://www.tmonews.com/2013/12/what...ther-carriers-early-termination-fees-covered/
Not 100% yet but likely..
There's more to it. You have trade in your phones, port your numbers and buy new phones. Now you may qualify for zero down, but you still have to pay the taxes up front and possibly $10 for each SIM card.
Sent from my XT1058 using xda app-developers app
I called T-Mobile and you have to trade in your phone and buy theirs. The trade in value is low and new phone price is high.

I agree, depending on the number of lines wink also affect your upfront cost never you have to pay the taxes up front.

Therefore it makes more sense to pay your etf by yourself and bring your phone and join the no contract plan or prepaid. Saves more money if that's your goal.

Can No Longer Buy Full-Price Phones from VZW and keep Unlimited Data.

The last phone I purchased directly from VZW was a full-price Note 2. To upgrade the phone, I went to VZW website, selected my full-price Note 4 and attempted to check out. However, to complete the checkout, VZW required me to make changes to my plan where continuing the Unlimited Data feature was not an option. Manager at the local VZW outlet confirmed the same; they can't sell me a full-price phone without changing the plan.
Had to purchase my VZW, carrier unlocked phones from Amazon.
well that's bs. good thing is it seems more companies are making universal phones that can be activated anywhere... like the nexus 6, and the new moto x and new nexuses comin out... meaning, I'll never again buy a phone from Verizon itself with their ugly branding. yay!
Sent from my Galaxy Note 4
Wow that is messed up. Verizon is trying anything at this point.
Sent from my SM-N910V using XDA Free mobile app
I wonder if the new phone came with a new Sim? When I upgraded last, the procedure to keep unlimited is to toss new Sim (burn with fire then microwave) and install old Sim for first activation.
Funny, I just ordered my phone on the 13th and it did nothing to my unlimited data. Bought from the Verizon Web site. It was a certified pre owned.I have been out of contract with unlimited data for years.

maybe you just had bad luck in store.. we all know how corporate verizon employees aren't the most truthful people.
just asked my old boss who runs his own retailer... they can sell off contract no problem. it's like when you goto verizon and buy off contract, they still want your number and stuff.. but it's like, i'm just buying a phone full price, you don't need to know anything about me... yet again, another reason why I never buy from corporate verizon and only use retailers.
Sent from my Galaxy Note 4
I bought one 3 days ago and kept unlimited data no problem. I would call CS and complain LOUDLY. A few months back I had a sim card go bad and when I took it in to get replacement, the rep changed my plan to 2 GB. Month and a half later I get an email about overuse of data and when I called in and explained what happened they gave unlimited back to me. She said within 30 days it is much easier to correct, but, they had to put in a service request for mine, which, took about 2-3 business days to reinstate. Good luck!
I can't see a corporate store do this, so must be a franchise store to screw up like that.
The people in the stores have been told to do what ever it takes to cheat you out of the unlimited data, that is first hand knowledge from a store manager in the family. As far as the phones go, you should not have been able to buy the phones without changing your plan, all phones from verizon are full price no more upgrades and require changing your plan, wether you pay cash or on the little deal on a monthly basis.
How about buying an unlocked compatible phone from Amazon or elsewhere? Will they try to force you out of the unlimited data plan to activate?

not if you're buying full price. I got the new moto x.. has nothing to do with your plan. it's just like buying any product on amazon. click buy, bam, done. throw your sim in, and it activates. verizon had absolutely nothing to do with the process and I love it.

Upgrading with 2 year contract and keeping unlimited data

I did this with the original Turbo, but I have an upgrade available on my unlimited data line and my sister has 2GB of data on our family plan. I plan on transferring my upgrade to her line, upgrading the phone and activating it. Then just slip my nano sim and... profit. Anyone successfully upgrade their phone and keep their unlimited data? Does the best buy method still work as well?

I just upgraded last night I have three phones on my line. My wife had an upgrade I used. the phone was put on her phone number I then about 20 minutes later swapped my sim card for her SIM card and I kept unlimited data.

Thanks for the reply. I just placed my order today. I went with the 64GB blue ballistic nylon with blue accents. I can't wait. Everything went well with ordering since I ordered online and transferred my upgrade to my sister's.

I have no idea how this works, can you please elaborate? I know it's a common method but I really want to upgrade my phone. I'm currently on an UDP and I have two tiered data lines. You just have to transfer the upgrade to theirs, and when the phone comes in, put in your SIM card instead of activating the card it comes with? That's all you have to do?

There are two methods I have 2 lines 1 udp and 2 tired 2 gig plans wife/daughter.
1. My wife's line had an upgrade went to version upgraded walked out to the car swapped Sims now its mine.
2. Transfer your upgrade to another one of your lines on the computer before hand. Go to verizon upgrade walk outside swap Sims.
Number 2 some people say you should not swap Sims immediately. Make some calls and in a few hours swap. I don't know why it would make a difference but it is what I have heard. I have done both methods and did not lose udp. However number 2 I gave my udp update to my daughter 2 months ago for a turbo. However it was for her so I never swapped my sim to the phone.

Thank you. I'll definitely be saving this for future reference. Also apparently with the new increase in UDP prices, you can use your upgrade and keep the UDP too. I'm still looking into that but this will be a great back up plan in case.

I thought that as well but it would seem not. What the increase for udp will allow is you to purchase a phone on a payment plan like everyone else. If you try to update using upgrade buh buy unlimited.

Transferring an upgrade from a line which has an unlimited plan, to another line will result in a change to the unlimited plan line as well. Since that contract changed, the data plan changes as well. That was my last conversation with VZW today, Nov 11, 2015 @ 2:49 CST. Also, with the increase on the Unlimited data plan, if you opt to go on a device payment plan, the Unlimited data plan will be discounted back down to $30/month. So device payment plan = $30 data plan + monthly phone price increase(Maxx 2 would be $16/monthly) and you would still save the $20 per month, net savings $4 monthly. This will begin on Nov 15th. They will slowly phase out 2 year Contracts is the end game there.

Your first mistake was asking a verizon rep they lie like a rug. I transfered my udp upgrade to my daughter's line she upgraded my contract extended and I don't have to pay the 20 dollar udp increase for 2 years. I just did this in June.

Even from the VZW website, when I go to transfer my upgrade, it makes me change the Unlimited data plan on my line to the 2GB plan. Did you do the upgrade at a best buy like menational above? Or yourself online at the VZW website? The Increase in price will start on Sunday, Nov 15th.

Nope I just transferred the upgrade to my other line. Went to verizon upgraded and my lines contract got extended two years. I guess in the 3-4 months they could have changed it. You could try to switch the upgrade then go to verizon and upgrade. I am assuming you tried it on the computer that may be the issue.

This, Verizon reps from 3 different stores fed me that line as well. I just upgraded online so I didn't have to deal with them.
I will go to Verizon Tomorrow, but even transferring the upgrade from another line at Best Buy said it would get rid of my unlimited Data plan, So at the VZW Store the same thing would happen as well.

there is a way to do it through the Verizon website, there is a trick during the checkout to keep your existing plan and keep unlimited, I did it on my single line (nationwide 450 talk and text), upgraded my phone to a droid turbo 2 and my contract got renewed to 10/31/2017. You still will need to swap your existing SIM to the new phone though. some people on another forum said it was risky but it worked for me. if you want more info you can pm me.

But maybe after 30 days, it might drop. Just keep an eye on it. The paper work that came with your device, does it state that your data plan is no longer Unlimited? And is now 6GB for $30? I can do the transfer upgrade on the VZW website, and it seems like it won't change the unlimited data plan. I was really hoping for the best buy deal of a galaxy S6 for $1 for a renewal. Worst case scenario, I do a device payment plan, on my lines, and the over all be only goes up $10-$20 instead of $40( for two unlimited plans). Sams club on the 14th will have the Galaxy S6 and note 5 for $0.96 with a 2 year Contracts . So we shall see what happens by Saturday.
Worst case scenario, I do a Device payment plan to keep the data an at $30, I will have to pay at least $20 more per UDP, so I might as well get phones out of it, rather than paying for air.
Thanks for the support.

I already received the contract paperwork through mail, I'm locked on nationwide 450 talk and text with unlimited data with no price increase until 10/31/2017. According to the paperwork I will get the $20 increase after 10/31/17 unless I can figure out a way to extend the contract again before then.

I don't think that's possible once the contract is up you will have to pay. I can't think of anyway to extend a contract before it is up. If anyone has an idea let us know.

So you were able to upgrade and keep data on your single line plan? If so can you tell me how you did it? I usually transfer my upgrade to my dad who is on a tiered data plan and it works.
