Q: is no gyroscope makes big difference? - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

• Can you take panoramic photos without gyroscope with 3rd party apps? Like uCam or A Better Camera?
• Can you play Need for speed Most Wanted and racing games?
• Is fm radio present in european version? How long it can play till battery runs out? Does it works only with original headphones ??
• is there really slow motion and hdr video? Is 30 fps recorded video smooth enough for pleasant viewing? Is image stabilisation works good when referring and would it be better with gyroscope?
• I have read that inside is gyroscope but its not active, true or false?

- Panorama photos should be OK... Photosphere would be a no.
- Racing games use the accelerometer; not the gyroscope
- I can't see why FM Radio wouldn't be present in the European one - if for some reason it is, I'm sure the APK from a Canadian one would work.
- Not sure on FM battery life, but any headphones will work (phone doesn't come with headphones anyways).
- No HDR video, and slow-motion video is capped at 540p
- If there's a gyro, no utility has confirmed it. I'd lean towards "No" as even the disabled "chop chop" flashlight gesture is seen in utilities that show available sensors.

Camera <-> Camcorder Zoom Weirdness

Going to try to explain this... When I'm using the stock Camera app, the picture is normal. But when I switch to Camcorder, it seems to be automatically zoomed in quite a bit. And when I try to zoom out, it says that since I'm recording in HD, zoom functions are not available.
This is kind of annoying because now I have to step back probably 5 feet to fill the same frame of when I was taking photos.
Is this normal for everyone else too? Or do I have some weird glitch on my unrooted and pure stock ROM?
Yep, mine does it too (stock rom). It only does that in FullHD resolution. I guess the only use middle part of the sensor to read the data to achieve greater speeds, and thus it's gonna be a hardware limitation.
Who need HD anyway ? The lens hardly catch with it. I record 720x480 and I'm very pleased with teh quality.
Change the video recording resolution in the settings pane to 1280x720 and that should fix your problem.

Yeah I noticed that.
But that doesn't make sense. In photo mode, same resolution as video mode but in video mode it's zoomed in. Like Dr. Sid said, it seems that it uses a smaller section of the image sensor to capture video. Which again doesn't make sense. Weird.
This is definetly a speed optimization - scaling down the whole resolution of camera sensor from 3264*2448 -> 1080p is much more expensive operation than just cropping the central pixels, i assume someone at samsung was VERY lazy to have done the camcorder mode in such a lame way, it's still ok for recording outside scenes but useless for in-room recording.
I find this quite annoying also. At first I was wondering if it is a ROM glitch or something, since some of the people here stated that even in stock ROM it is present also.
I hope there is some kind of patch to this, full HD recording is really awesome and I hate to see the 'zoomed' effect.
Yeah noticed the same thing just last night.. Seems to also affect the camera's ability to focus properly in video capture mode as well... Shame on them, I wish I had noticed this sooner.

Checklist: Rumored vs. Final 4.4 Kitkat Update for Z1

Hi Z1 Kitkat updaters, how is it fared to what I've posted way back when the Z2 dump files are shown? Can you enumerate below which of which are not included and so far, not been rumored to have but already had in the Z1 KK update? Thanks.

I was told this would not work for z1... But is this real?
The built in mic is ridiculous...

[Q] Does anybody else have this camera issue?

Before I begin: I have spent all afternoon and night researching and testing so I have put in a fair amount of my own effort prior to posting this.
I have also posted this same text on the Cyanogenmod Googlge+ page.
No matter what settings I use (resolution, frame rate), my videos always show approximately 30 fps when imported into Adobe Premiere (screenshot attached).
I have tried these various camera apps:
Google Camera, Cinema FV-5, A Better Camera, Focal, Open Camera, IGcamera
I have an SM-N9005
My version of CyanogenMod is: 12-20150319-NIGHTLY-hlte
When I play the recorded videos back they play at normal speed (as you would expect from ~30 fps video).
I tested my Mums Note 3 using her stock camera app (her Note 3 is 4.3 Jelly Bean still) and it worked perfectly when I chose slow motion in the video options it recorded at my selected speed (1/2, 1/4, 1/8) and played back at that recorded speed.
I am aware there is resolution loss but that is not my concern at the moment, I want to first establish slow motion recording.
Here is an example of the stock camera app on my Mums phone: youtube/watch?v=hD84oLB3wYE

No gyroscope calibration option

I want to use YouTube's new 360° view but my phone has a custom ROM so there is no setting to calibrate the gyroscope under motion and gesture's. Is there any fix/third party app I can use to get YouTube to recognize my gyroscope so the videos will work? Also if you haven't checked out YouTube's new 360° videos, definatley do, their very cool.

Certain camera functions are not working properly in both Mokee/Resurrection ROM

I've noticed two of the "Camera Family" functions that I tried out (Slow mo, and Clone) does not work
at all. Panorama works fine, and is very fast. I don't use the other camera functions and do not know if they are working properly.
I guess the camera have some EIS in the normal Google stock Camera app. When I saw the functions you have stabilization option for 1080p (but not for 4k). I can't seem to find it under Nubias Camera setting unless its an automatic function of theirs.
Both ROMs (Mokee/Resurrection) are great.
