Magazine Unlock - Huawei P8 Questions & Answers

I own P8 lite for 3 months. I use Magazine Unlock as my lock because it's honestly awesome. The one thing that bothers me is that even though I'm subscribed to everything (travel, car, Star, fashion, life and Sports), I'm only getting updates for travel and life. I've never seen a single picture from the other categories. Are they just not being updated or is there something wrong with my Magazine Unlock?

You already have face unlock in the Google/Smart Unlock settings.
If you want to bypass the swipe UP and load straight to the home screen, you can do that with "AutoInput" from the PlayStore.
I've tried and it's functions just like the 5T.

I've tried it too, but frankly, IMHO Google Smart lock is utter crap. Heck it unlocks my phone when I cover half of my face with my hands. OnePlus' face unlock is slightly more reliable, but that's not that secure either. I won't ever use the feature. I created this thread for people who've been constantly asking for the feature
I don't believe OnePlus have released their source code, but there's plenty of suggestions that they are one and the same thing with the exception of OnePlus jumping to the home screen on recognition.
I was able to fool the 5T just as I could Google's smart face so I'm not entirely convinced that OnePlus have really done anything new. Both methods are really quick to recognize, in my experience (Not even sure that's a good thing...).
Don't get me wrong, new features would be great but I kinda feel this is an attempt to generate hype again by OnePlus.

Face Unlock on Huawei P10 Lite

Hi, I know that the P10 Lite is going to get the Emui 8.0, but I was wondering if it will get the huawei face unlock too. Other huawei phones have already gotten it, so will the P10 Lite get it?

We'll find out when someone gets access to the update (beta or release).
I wouldn't recommend anyone actually use it if it does get added. It's horribly insecure to use any kind of face unlock without the hardware to make it secure. Practically anyone would be able to unlock your device with little preparation. Even with a good software implementation, it's still relatively easy to cheat it.

Hi, it sounds like a cool feature and I wanted to try it. If it comes I think that I will use it, because I really don't care if someone sees my photos and all of that stuff and I don't have friends that will steal my phone, if someone steal my phone he will probably don't even try to hack it. There are really not that much people like this in my city plus that I am not something like a secret agent, so... ?

Certainly. I just wanted to warn you (or anyone reading it) that it's not actually secure. It can add a tiny deterrent too so it's not as bad as slide to unlock for example.
Some of the problems with it is that without additional sensors it relies on a 2D image to recognize you. Sometimes it can unlock via photos of you or people who look similar. That's why Apple's facial recognition works: multiple sensors that are very difficult to cheat and requires targeted prep work to even succeed hence a random pickpocket won't be able to do anything.
You can add software tricks such as checking for eye blinking to determine if it's a live person and use software algorithms to increase accuracy but these can be cheated which is why I don't think even Google's AI team could develop a safe method that only needs a camera.
Just wanted to explain why the software solution is generally a bad idea if security is important to you.
I think you may get your wish though. I don't see why Huawei wouldn't do it. After Apple did it, it seems like it has become a sought after feature again but these companies don't tell you that it's not the same as what Apple did which is unfortunate for most people if they get a false sense of security.
Finger print is still quite secure though and fast too
Probably not, Lite gets a lot of features cut. A lot of them can be unlocked with build.prop editing, but we'll have to wait to know for sure.

No bro. I have the Huawei p10 lite with the Oreo 8.0.sumn
And It doesn't come with face unlock. Everything else is ok but the camera. They deliberately ****ed up the once almost perfect camera that the phone came with too. I'll advice you root the hell out of that **** bro??
But one positive is that they keep rolling out Google security patches every single month

Unlock without waiting?

Is it possible? I find it immensely lame that i have to wait one week to unlock the damn phone. Apparently, some people have or had to wait even longer. Funny even, that Xiaomi says that i should use the phone actively while i wait! So, how can i supposedly use the phone if i can NOT use titanium backup to import my apps and settings so i can use the phone "actively"?!?
Slightly changing the subject. I wonder why Xiaomi is providing a good phone like this with a price tag so low. Making us bind our phone and mobile number to their "services". Making us wait a lot before we install a ROM that is not theirs. I wonder if there's a specific reason behind this. Ah... never mind, i'm just rambling...
The "unlock" is an automated request which makes you wait for "atleast" 360 hours, NOT 360.
I got my phone unlocked in 3 days, just saying.

Private Share app in One UI 3.1 update.

I have an off the wall question but can anyone possibly tell me what version of Private Share was on the first One UI 3.1 update on the S10 Plus? I had never see or heard of the app until my girlfriend brought it to my attention while she was snooping in my Google Activity. I know that system apps typically auto update, which it seems like mine did because it shows in the activity on the date I update my device and a few days later. But again, I had never seen or heard of Private Share. Now I have spent the last two days explaining how Android and Samsung updates work, how she herself had the goddamn app on her S10 Plus too but she still thinks I'm doing something shady with it. Nevermind that the app only works with certain other Galaxy devices also. That's not good enough for her.

Is it possible to bypass FRP for S10+ sm-G975USQS4DTF6

So first off, this is not a stolen phone. My neighbor recently passed away and my family was able to buy the house with everything in it. She was quite the hoarder and we found like 20 phones, most were garbage but there were a few S8s and an S10+ preserved in an OtterBox.
When I powered the phone on it was already reset and asking for the previous Pin or Google account.
It's running on SM-G975USQS4DTF6.
The IMEI is clean and it appears to be fully paid off.
I've tried so many different methods (reflashing stock, trying to flash combos, Samsung FRP bypass, etc.) but at this point I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing so I thought I'd ask for some help.
Is there any way to salvage this phone? Or is it as good as a brick at this point?
Meh... we get this once a week or more.

Ah, that's what I was afraid of. Any idea what I could do with the phone? Donate it somewhere where they have the ability to wipe it and give it away to someone? It's just gonna be sitting in a drawer otherwise.
I'll even give it back to sprint, but I was hoping to avoid that since they'll probably just refurbish it and sell it.
Do a Google search. How well those solutions work I have no idea.
At least you didn't get irate like the last poster.
There are solutions and workarounds here though for many other problems with Samsung's.
Plus modes, rooting guides and custom roms.
I appreciate the advice! Unfortunately I've exhausted pretty much every method I've been able to find.
And yeah, you don't need to worry about me getting irate. I totally get it, 99.9% of FRP locked phones are stolen, if you guys encouraged FRP bypass discussions here it would open up a whole can of worms, and that's not worth it for the ~3 people per year who have a legit reason to bypass it.
Thanks for the heads up though! Good to know this isn't the best place to be looking for an answer.
It's a good place for Android answers... just not that one.
FRP is one of my most despised Gookill features.
Worse I have a very long, complex password so entering it by hand is really fun... not.
I disable my account and do the reset from settings to avoid having to deal with it when doing a factory reset. Find my Device is another I hate.
Scoped storage and forced encryption are on the top of my list though. I refuse to go higher then Android 10 because of that Apple like crapware
