Which Cyanogenmod Build? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I have the Sprint Galaxy S4 (Not the Spark version) On T-Mobile. I'm really confused about what cyanogenmod version I should install on my s4, the jfltetmo or jfltespr

As long as your phone is unlocked for GSM use, just install the spr one (you won't be able to install the tmo one normally).
If you experience problems like unable to hang up or receive calls, tell me and I have something for you.

Samsung ATT Galaxy Express (SGH-I437) Central Thread

As a long time lurker of the XDA forums, I've finally decided to get a user account become a member of the XDA community. I figured as my first post that it would make sense to start a central thread for the I437 which I have recently purchased (RIP captivate - you served me well), as this is a popular phone but somewhat of a struggle to navigate through what has been done with development without it's own subforum. As a stop-gap to getting a subforum, I will be attempting to maintain this thread so that new users of the i437 have an easier time getting into the real potential of this device.
THIS IS FOR THE US ATT GALAXY EXPRESS I437. THE I8730 IS A DIFFERENT PHONE WITH DIFFERENT INTERNALS AND DIFFERENT DEVELOPMENT
For the sake of avoiding confusion, I'm going to request that we refer to this phone simply as the i437 or the ATT Express.

thanks for helping...
Glad I'm not the only one wondering why this phone isn't getting a lot of attention. I think this phone is a really great balance of features at a reasonable price. I'm still running bone stock with no real complaints other than the isual bloat and ATT blocking of tethering. I'm going to fix that soon though. =-O

I would love you devs forever if you would implement faux's kernel mod to enable FauxSound.
Jt1134 broke us off a piece of that KitKat bar! Go check it out and give it a whirl. It's awesome!

Kit Kat
Just curious if anyone has Kit Kat running well yet and what they think of it.
Thanks to the OP for putting this thread together and put all the required info for the Express all in one place. I was finally able to root, install CWM, and install ROMs on my sons SGH-I437. (He was always wondering why my phone had so much custom stuff on it) Now he has all the basics to start with to learn to customize his phone.
I would like to ask if anyone here has the skill (wishing I did) to be able to port this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201860 to the Express. It's a nice recovery to work with. Have used it on my Note2 for a while and love the features it brings.

It's really easy and so worth it, Odin flash the recovery on here and just flash cm kitkat+gapps. Make sure you have the updated modem, if you flash without it I believe the modem is in this thread ready to be flashed in recovery.
I nuked my persistence partition in a flash some how, :silly: anyone mind dd'ing off one for me? Its not in the recovery images. Its dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p16 of=/sdcard/persistence.img

Is this all the ROMs available for this phone ? There isn't even a section for this device on the forum. I guess very few people use it ?
Is there a stock 4.1.2 rom around for the i437? I am having some issues after root: not receiving texts and the stock browser is crashing. I would just install CM, but I want to sell the phone, or give it to a family member.
Thanks you guys for the help.

I believe that there is link to the 4.1.2 rom in the really long thread on root access.
I just installed the CM11 2014-02-05 build on a i437p. I am experiencing a short battery life (i.e. 35% battery drain over night). Is anyone else experiencing this?

I've been running CM11 for a while now and it is running great. I started with some nightlies a couple months ago, kept updating to different nightlies, and I am now running snapshot-M5. I would recommend starting there and keeping a backup of it before trying the different nightlies.

Is there will be the Android L baseon system come out?

The Android L (5.0) has come out, is there any team will work on it?
Hold your horses. 5.0 hasn't even been released to the Nexus devices yet officially. We'll most likely (if we do find a way to get Lollipop) wait until CyanogenMod 12.
Android 5.0 will be official only for Moto X, G, E, and the 2013 Droids.
There might be a chance for the Luge (and therefore maybe an adapted version for the M) too, but I doubt it.
So just CM (if it stops getting worse).
Not even the sources have come out yet, and nobody would like a buggy SDK port. Just wait until CM12's ready for action (which mostly depends on the progress of CM's team).

[SOLVED] [Q] Questions regarding custom ROMs on L720/T

Hi all, I should be joining the jfltespr foray in the next few days with the new L720T I got, but got myself some questions that aren't fully solved after 2 hours of research. Thought I should ask here before my device arrives.
1) Do CM12.x and other 5.x non-TW custom ROMs require the new bootloader from Samsung's lollipop upgrade? If yes, then do they work with the old 4.4 bootloader also?
2) It seems many Samsung CDMA devices are plagued by the problem of not being able to hang up or receive calls under GSM. I have found multiple patches for that, most of which involves replacing libril and other RIL-related libs. But does this mean every time I switch between GSM/CDMA carriers I'll have to apply the corresponding patch? (God, isn't CM stubborn when it comes to world phone support...)
3) Any other things or patches specific to L720T that I should take notice when flashing / setting up? For now I feel content with having CM12.1, so base any suggestions on that please. Also, I'm not on Sprint Spark (I'm not even in the US), so I can totally ditch Spark and any service exclusive to L720T.
Thanks in advance!

Okay then, got my L720 hours ago (turns out it's a normal L720 flashed a MIUI for L720T, saves me a lot of trouble) and most problems are solved in practise.
1) Haven't tried 4.4 BL, but upgraded to 5.0 BL via Odin OD2 firmware, and TWRP and CM12.1 work just as I expected.
2) Yes I had to make 2 small flashable zips containing corresponding libril.so for GSM and CDMA. For CM12.1 other libs are not needed (I compared the files and only libril and lib-secril are different, the latter won't affect). Screw CM, why do they think global phone is an "untested and unnecessary scenario"?!
3) At least I didn't do any other things to make CM12.1 work with my local GSM and CDMA carriers, except for the libril.so replacement above. Which is relieving because you know what sh*t you have to do using QPST/DFS to Verizon Motorola phones when you want it global...
Has XDA become such a cold place that there aren't any response for a legit question? I have some other question threads in other devices' forums and most if all of them went unanswered just like this one. I had to either experiment myself whenever possible or just give up.

CM 11 Mirror Links or a Recommended CM11 Based ROM?

Hi I'm looking for the latest build of CM11 for note 4 treltexx. the cyanogenmod site does not open in my country. I've tried VPN but no luck at all!?
The google cashed page is showing a prerenderd page that contains the links, so if some one can mirror the link it would be so great caus i need it so much.
I'm New here, and about to get my Note 4 in a few days........... I used to have a Nexus 5 for a 4 years and a 2 months. but I've sold it because there is no maintenance peaces for it in my country, how ever I was running CM11 on my nexus 5 for all that time and didn't liked the CM13 because the only Xposed Module that i use is not available in MM. it's Application Settings, it can make me launch apps above the lockscreen, thats it!
Thanks for help.
OK, Fine......
Is there any ROM that is based on CM11 that you guys can recommend for me?

Samsung Galaxy Sll SCH-R760

Does anyone even still use these devices? I found one the other day and was able to do a few things. I Ported philz_touch6.19.3 to it and everything is working. I also Modified and Flashed an unofficial version of cm 11 to it.
this is not the place for it, your device is called the galaxy S2 epic 4g or galaxy s2 4g. Its forum is here. Good luck with it!

The R760 is just a D710 (Epic Touch 4G) rebranded for US Cellular (without the wimax modem I believe?). Take a look at this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/epic-4g-touch/development/porting-lineageos-14-to-d710-t3592185
You could hypothetically get Oreo semi working on your device...
