Announcing the new Motorola Webtop source project
by Peter Matsimanis 5 days ago
Motorola is pleased to announce a dedicated source project for Motorola Webtop.
Webtop is shipping in some of Motorola's new 4G Phones including Atrix and Photon.
Please find the initial releases for the following 2 releases:
WT-1.2.0-110 - Which coincides with Atrix GP upgrade to 4.5.91
WT-1.2.0-135 - Which coincides with initial Photon 4G release 4.5.1A-1_SUN-154
well this could make things very interesting
indeed very interesting.
i suspect this should get more attention.
Should make it easier to port into CM7
Doesnt mean anything yet. Let us see if moto follows through on this. And we need hdmi mirroring motorola. Now. Yesterday.
I voided my warranty.
any work yet?
I've posted in the photon thread, but I have an Atrix, (love it) but I have not seen much if any work done with the source code released by motorola :
sourceforge(dot)net/motorola/motorola-webtop/home/Home/
sourceforge(dot)net/projects/motorola-webtop.motorola/files/
they have all the way up to 2.0.0 from the droid razr. I'm surprised no one has made a ubuntu repository of these packages (after building them of course) and made it available to update our webtops.

Source code drops for US S3 Variants

I like samsungs new game plan release source first so the devs can cook up custom roms then release phone.. So that sales get boosted

Yup, just saw the announcement on the official HTC Facebook.
Says 90days after the google source is released the M7 will have "L"
Great to see HTC throwing updates like this LAST gen phones.
Does anyone know if google is planning on releasing the L source code for the developer's preview or only the Nexus 5/7 factory images?

For what I've observed from Google I/O ,android L developer preview will be initially available only for nexus 5/7..
As this will be a test build only,I don't think Google will release factory images for other devices.. Other nexus devices n gpe might see the light some days later but not any soon

Wouldn't be surprised if someone ports the dev preview for devices other than the nexus 5/7. We'll just have to wait and see...

I don't think that would happen as porting means copying features of one device to another which are at same android version. So some features might be available but complete rom can hardly be available. Again We have different hardware config from nexus devices so hardware driver won't be available as well.
yay.. finally some good news.
I can't wait to try Android L on my m7!

Please use the following thread for any discussion regarding updates - [Discussion] HTC One - Updates
Besides, we're likely about 6/7 months away from an L release anyway

I hope someone manages to make an AOSP port as fast as last year, how long did it take for someone to port 6.0 after release? Like a week if I'm not mistaken
Last year MM AOSP build was released by @updateing & it was like within a week of source release. Hopefully this year we will get same love for bacon :'D
With all the ART changes 7.0 might be a bit more complex to port to our device, but I'm no developer so I dunno. Hope someone, or even @updating manages the same feat as last year's Marshmallow!
Have they released the AOSP sources already?

Not yet, there are some rumors it'll be today. Once it drops I'd give it a couple weeks before we see CM14 nightlies

There's usually some crazy guy that puts together a somewhat functional AOSP build within a day or two.

No it will probably be at least a month based on history.
Also according to Google the source will drop today.

the difference is that nexus 5 which is almost identical in base specs had 6.0, but it didnt got 7.0, so isnt easy as it was before.

We'll have to port it from the nexus 6, doesn't seem that bad considering it still has the S805 it will be harder next year though when the N6 gets the axe and there are no more 32 bit nexus devices to port from

800 krait 400 with adreno 3xx graphics
805 krait 450 with adreno 4xx graphics
The most basic thing on hardware comparison, the SoC, is totally different, but you propose to still try it? Lets use our brains a little and:
which device with nougat has the same specs? Z3 does, doesnt it? People need to remember that theres not even kernel sources for either AOSP images or Sony's, which make the process times harder. I would choose the device with more similarities(Z3!), and in no way the Nexus 6 is an option if youre looking for similar hardware to make the port easier.
So, the conclusion is:
A port could come from Z3's nougat, but not from N6, simples as that.
Source codes are pushed?

Z3 had betas, strange to see it not having the stable release, well then we'll have to wait for Nougat's source code to be released then....
If Snapdragon S4 devices like the GS3 have a good shot at CM14, I find it hard to believe that getting it working on the OPO will be any more difficult.

When Xiaomi going to release kernel source for our device and when are we going to ..

No Kernel source and so no custom roms
very disappointing ,They said they are going to release some quality source but Its been full 3 months now.
Jan is at its end which makes this almost 4 months
xiaomi released kernel source for mi max 2 after six months, so I guess they will release kernel source for our device after that same amount of time
https://twitter.com/MiIntrnModSeppe/status/955683630487146496
Guys,Check this out but I don'no if its true?!
He is just a mod in forum, I don't think he has anything to do with development. I have read his all reply stating not an employee of xiaomi
Well, Seppe looks like a normal mod, he occasionally posts on mi community and his Twitter looks normal, he said he got "internal sources" (maybe friends?)... Why would he lie? He had nothing to gain... This is interesting
Sources to be Released
Kernel Source released atlast......
Let the devs work their magic on....
