Thanks,

no sign of it in the uk yet on 02

Any changelog anywhere?

What the French, toast!

Anyone know if this firmware will work for it? http://xperiafirmware.com/8-firmware/108-sony-xperia-z3-e6553

I bought mine on ebay here in the US. Not sure where it originally came from. But I registered it on sony.com and got a message on Friday that I could update using Sony PC Companion. The update went fine.

I'm going to sounbd so boring saying this, but no sign of it in the UK or by using the Sony Bridge software on the Mac. My Z4 was bought directly from Sony.

Nothing on my sim free unit from Amazon UK yet either and just for clarity I live in the UK as well.
4G LTE Version.

What? Z4 tablet still has 5.0.2?? My Z4 tablet is currently at home where I mostly use it so I cannot check now but I have my Z3 compact tablet here at work and I can clarify that I got 5.1.1 long time ago for this tablet. I never even bothered to check my Z4 since I thought for sure that it is 5.1.1 out of the box.

I've got the Z3 Tablet compact and the Z4 tablet and the Z3 is at 5.1.1 and Z4 at 5.0.2. I would love to understand the reason behind it.

Well this could be the reason why Z3 compact is much smoother than Z4. I was always blaming the SD210 processor + higher quality display, which could also be part of the problem.
But Z4 is much slower than Z3 compact tablet.

Agreed the Z3TC spanks the he'll out of the more powerful Z4 at the moment, so that's why I so badly want to see 5.1.1 on it.

No update via OTA, but I've just the update via Sony Bridge for Mac

Got the update yesterday evening in germany. See no changes. Was hoping for a chance to integrate the facebook calender in stock calender app like on my z3 but nothing. Don´t know why but facebook calender seems to be not longer supported in the z4 tablet fw...

I'll keep an eye out in the UK today

Just updated in the UK via PC companion.

Just to confirm, I received the update today on O2 UK. I cannot spot any major changes as of yet nor any changelog.

OK, for those who have not realised, once you have received the 28.0.8.251 firmware update, if you have the BKB50 keyboard and you connect your tablet to it, it does a firmware update for the keyboard.
From what I can tell, the BKB50 update changes the time out on the keyboard (it used to be about 5 minutes of inactivity and now it is about 12 minutes before the keyboard times out).
My guess is that the bulk of the 28.0.8.251 update had the BKB50 update embedded in it - which would explain why we are seeing little change in the performance of the tablet itself following the update.

I've got the OTA update to it last night
Keyboard updated also, I've noticed the tablet to be much more responsive now compared to how it was, what I was expecting for a Octa-Core CPU tablet anyway.
Hopefully the 5.1.1 update brings even better performance

Well....they have found a bugs in that fw so they built fixed fw, certified it and it's in testing stage.
That will be (most likely) fw that will be released.
Would you be happier with fw full of bugs and errors or rather wait few more days for fw with less bugs and problems?
Lollipop will be out sooner then we all thought and that's something that I want as soon as possible, 4.4.4. is something we need but 5.00 is fw I can't wait to see...
Another 15 days or month!

No...it'll be out in a next few days...there's no chance they'll wait one whole month.
New firmware is tested, they fixed all bugs and they are doing finial testing.
It's quite obvious that testers found problems in first build, so they fixed that and certified another build.
That should be the one we'll receive...
Of course, it's always possible that they bump into serious problems and can't release this one too but I really doubt that...
This is now just polished version of first certified fw and that one should be good...

may be Lolipop's!... as far as I know PTCRB versions for certifications are for release versions... not internal. My assumption is either this is for a different market or an enhanced version. the 3.0.1.A.3 and 3.0.1.A.0 numbers - makes me think it could be an upgraded version.
on the other hand I see Z2 (just like Z Ultra) prices falling linearly - I suspect we will have this version as last but one in case it is 4.4.4 or if 5.0 then could be the end....!

I think he mean it is the end of the Z and not Z2 because the Z2 have more ram and a better chip like a 2.3 ghz quadcore instead of 1.5 ghz, so let we all wait on 4.4.4 and next year on 5.0 and then we can talk further about any updates if we Z2 users already run as the 1st ones on 5.0 !

I think so, but it's a big jump over previous build.
if you look at curent market outlook, sony's losses and Samsung in re-planning, and Motorola out from google, i see that gameplan will change soon, and the support model and release cycles will have a great impact.
Supporting a model over 2 years is a huge cost if the chipsets and technology change with every model. Z2 an Z3 will not have impact for a year or so since chipsets are similar. but Z4 onwards I see there will be a shift in whole view of mobile devices since business is getting hit, Google is revamping its strategy. it will not be plain simple firmware upgrades every quarter anymore in my view. I may be wrong and I know people are just waiting for new firmware upgrades - as long as mobile works - and apps work I dont see a need of releasing a version unless there is major tuning or upgrade.
2 years lifecylce is good, but every 6 months firmware upgrade is something I doubt going forward after Lolipop
i cant wait anymore , i hope this FW rollout in next days

Xperia Z2 (D6502) Lollipop 5.0.2 update in INDIA 😩😥

Have patience or head over to the firmware made for every Z2 and flash it.
This is not the place for you to cry!!!!!
Here we mod for our own use as niabloc did for all of us.
Damn, I thought that D6502's lolipop is available!
Now Android 5 has some bugs, so I think the update will be delayed.
Absolutely. The update which was rolled out is not at all the final firmware if it was it could have been rolled to other regions also since india is always one of the first countries where sony starts rolling new firmware. I think it safe to assume we will get the update only in april.
Maybe sony noticed the x-reality bug and stopped the rollout..

I updated with Nordic Lollipop firmware and found out that I could not search anything on Walkman App (I used stock xperia keyboard with THAI and US layout). I think there might still be some problems with non-latin writing regions. Now, I'm back to KitKat.
Anyway, don't worry about getting the update. I last to get is always Japanese variant.
I don't understand why some of you fail to READ posts in a forum.. There is a D6502 patch available for the prerooted fw provided by niaboc79.. Plus Search bar in walkman works fine. Make a fresh install to avoid bugs like that. Only problem in Lp update is XR and Super vivid files are missing. Apart from that, I have zero issues. Since I am on UB, I don't have to worry about it, though since most of you guys like to stay on LB, you can flash the mod in themes section which fixes the XR issue.. And there won't be any changes in the Indian update unless there is a change in the build number, which is very highly unlikely.. So stop thinking that there are bugs and it should be fixed. Read more guys, read before complain..

To be honest releasing the FW in just 2 regions doesn't seem like a roll out to me, more like a test run. and maybe when the actual roll out happens next week india will be the 1st one in that to receive it. and even you guys didnt actually get it. just used a different ftf to flash. that does not count

In all fairness, though, how many times did a KitKat update get certified before it was finally released? (And then they pulled the one that got released for a bit...)
Quick addition - 14.5.B.xxx version number... the previously certified C6903 update was 14.5.A.xxx... might we be seeing 5.1?

Well KitKat from Sony was being scandalous and unstable when released but to my knowledge lollipop hasn't had major hiccups on the z3 or z2, but only time will tell and T-Mobile has said themselves it will released so there will still be hope. And it could be 5.1, T-Mobile may be waiting for that to release on their phones since 5.0 itself wasn't even that stable on nexus even though they did release lollipop on other phones but because they're more popular

I'm guessing the first version of kitkat that we expected was 4.4.2 and wasn't stable. When we finally did get an update we were one of the first to get 4.4.4. So let's hope we are getting an update soon and for me I hope it fixes the interment touch screen issue that I've had since the beginning and many others have dealt with.

Bootloader remains locked - no unlock has yet been released for the phone, and at this point I doubt there ever will be, short of Sony taking pity on the remaining users.
Yay?
At this point, I'm not going to bother even upgrading to Lollipop on my Tmo Z1s. After waiting so long for a reliable root to be released, I'm not going to upgrade and have to wait again.

I decided to use my upgrade, and get the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Yeah, it's not bleeding edge new, but I wanted a device that had established dev community and ROM support, and I wanted the fancy Note 4 S-Pen features, and that nice large Super AMOLED screen. The S6 looks nice but I really wanted the big screen and the removable back cover was very important to me, so that I could by the spare battery kit. I don't really care about benchmarks, but the SD 805 is no slouch, and I think it'll be able to handle any apps or games that I'm going to use, that are coming out in the next 2-3 years, at least. Getting Lollipop isn't a priority either, as it seems the early versions are buggy and battery life on the S6/Edge has been less than stellar.
My technolust has been quelled for at least another year. :victory:
I did a quick search, but nothing came up. Will updating to 5.0.2 break root for us on the .56 firmware?
EDIT: realized it has only been certified not released.
It probably would... I'm not updating until there's root. Took forever to get root after I bought my z1s and since my OPO crapped out, I'm not losing root. Lol

Seeing as they've certified a second build now, I'm guessing it'll be a bit longer before we see an upgrade. Remember, the 4.4.4 upgrade wasn't exactly the first attempt Sony had at putting KitKat on a C6916.

I find it to work pretty fine aside of battery life being reduced and camera missing camera2 API. If you think its half bodged version, what should Samsung and HTC owners say about theirs... Memory leak bug still present after numerous tries to patch it, while Sony released it already bug-free...
By all accounts, 5.1 still has the 'mobile radio active' bug that is draining peoples' batteries. I have noticed that bug and am currently testing my second install of 5.0.2 to see how much of a problem it will be with my usage patterns, so I might end up going back to 4.4.4 rather than forward to 5.1
Sony's Lollipop is great. Samsung freaking had to cease the update of Galaxy S5 because it was so bad. Sony's one actually had only one or two bugs which quickly got fixed. There are nearly no issues on the lastest firmware really minus the headphone profiles bug

Sony's lollipop has the same bugs as stock android as far as I can tell. It does have a few nice extras, but also has a few fugly touches and some bloat.
My biggest gripe is the Android "mobile radio active" bug... is no-one else experiencing this with the sony firmware?

No man, Sony Lollipop sucks because the Ram Managment is very, very bad... Maybe you don´t use a lot multitasking, but users that buy this phone and use it for work and need a good amount of apps opened all time with 2GB or 3GB of RAM are very disappointed, we are waiting 5.1.1 too, to see if Sony fixes that, we hope that. With 2GB or 3GB this problem doesn´t have to happen.

I haven't noticed any issues with the D5803_23.1.A.1.28 second release of 5.0.2. Rooted and running very nicely; battery life seems similar to KitKat, possibly very slightly worse (could be an updated app causing that).
I've not noticed any issues at all with lollipop I play a lot of memory intensive games and occasionally forget to close them >_<

hopefully the camera issue will be resolved.

I have to second him actually. My phone has zero memory problems. dunno what the lot of you are doing with yours to cause them.

So, when do you think 5.1.1 is coming?

Sony rolled out android 5.1.1 for the Z2 and Z3 a while back and said other devices would get it in the following weeks! It's been awhile now and they didn't even certify a new build yet :/ I'm starting to think Sony is going to say that 2gb of ram is not enough to run the latest android
When do you guys think it's coming?
Are you waiting for the update or are you happy with the os right now?
i am really getting annoyned with the ram management if they wont update it , atleast fix the memory management e.e
Yes agreed. My phone has become barely usable because of that ****ty memory management in 5.0.2. They should really move on to 5.1.1 because that's ruined for too long now. What fears me though is that the new version is still not published on PTCRB which means it won't be available in the next two weeks... We will have to wait somewhere in September probably.

It hasnt been certified yet , usualy the update comes after 2 weeks after certification.
Xperia z1 will be another fail just like xperia sp
Since launch it still has bad multitasking
And sony will discontinue it's update cycle along with the original xperia z
So i think z1 z1c zu z and zr wont get the taste of android M imo
, they said they would release it the following weeks after z2 update, not the following month/s
Yeah, 5.1 was a let down on other devices, will not be any different with the Z1. Looking for a long battery life and fast ROM based on 4.4.4. Already went back on my other devices.

Probably will stick with fxp if the Z1 won't get the M . i've seen mods that allows you tu use 4k and other camera features from the stock rom on cm and other aosp rom so i will not loose great things going to fxp or cm

What's your source? As it is not yet on PTCRB there's no way it is going to be released this week.
actually i think and hope that they delayed the 5.1.1 to include the stagefright patch in the next update

It is live right now. Anyway a lot of users have problems with 5.1.1 on z3 so maybe Sony will fix them that's why it is taking so long.

Where have you seen the 5.1 ftf for Z1?
guys
you can easily fix memory management problem
use kernel adiutor and go to Low Memory Manager Killer and change numbers to lower Values.

Changing LMK is not enough unfortunately. That's not a matter of LMK.
