They send you a Samsung phone ( your choice) with a sim card and phone plan for 1 dollar. You try it for 30 days, if you like it you keep the phone and they charge the cost of the device. Otherwise just return the phone in good condition before the 30 day mark and you won't have to pay.

I'm new here (been lurking for a while) and in the process of haggling with my local O2 shop to match my previously bargained Orange tariff to a XDA mini and O2 tariff. Anyway...
Last night whilst browing i noticed that if you Select a XDA mini S on the O2 shop website, instead of being charged £79.99 on all plans, it comes up as £49.99 on all plans.
Hope this is of some use to somebody

Just be careful they dont say it was a clear error and charge you £79. Bonus if you get it for £49 but maybe be prepared to pay £79.
Tell you what though £49 for a mini S is one hell of a bargain. Its a fantastic piece of kit. God I paid £50 for my nokia 3650. Also a very good phone in its day and still a good phone to be honest.

Yeah gutted as I just paid £99 for mine just before christmas. You should get a refund if they drop it within a certain time of you buying it. £50 ive just wasted. Not buying a phone just before christmas again. Still got them back with the exec deal :wink:
I got mine instore for £79.99 with £30 back as trade in for an old broken nokia and charger on Data5 tarrif (5Mb data per month only - no calls or sms) at £9.something per month. So basically £50.
The guy in the shop never questioned my choice of data only tarrif. He also trusted me to come back with a mains charger as I took a car one with me.
It also seems they are not concerned about people re-flashing firmware and removing the O2 extended ROM (which makes the phone MUCH faster - I did it today). They will help you get your gprs and wap settings back after the flash
I bought one today - arriving tomorrow. One helluva deal! 49 quid for any tarriff - I went for the 12 month contract on the OnLine tariff £19 a month with 50 cross network minutes, 200 texts and 1Mb of downloads bundled in.
I also bought a 2Gb high speed mini SD from moby memory (http://www.mobymemory.com/proddetail.asp?prod=miniSD_2048mb_MOBY_001) for £87!

... I did give the O2 shop a chance to match this deal. The best they could offer was a free phone on a £70 a month tarriff locked in for 6 months... and they were out of stock. :lol:

Has anyone had their phone delivered within the last few days like me? I had mine delivered on 9/1/05. I ordered it on 6/1/05 though. I am hesitating a return as I do need it right now and have not yet emailed them. How exactly should I word it?
Price match? Re-imbursement? Refund? Don't want to sound like an @$$.

Personally I am going to phone and speak to a person. Email isnt direct enough IMO. I will simply be stating :
That the price was dropped several hours after ordering and if they do not give it to me for the new price I will use it for 13 days and return it on the 14th. There is a 14 day cool off period. I will then inform them that after I have returned it to them they will have to then sell it on as 2nd hand/refurb and that I will place my order again for one at the lower price.
Under these conditions it would be far easier and more beneficial to them to alter my invoice accordingly and save wasting my time and their time/money. And if that fails, I will simply return it and go to another network operator that looks after the customers they already have rather than a company who just likes to get you as a customer then forget all about you.
If anyone does phone them be sure to make a note of the date/time of the conversation and get the operators name in case you need it for future reference. I have been caught out before simply because I could not provide these details...
well i ordered my 8525 from amazon.com and with text messaging, pda data and the 40 dollar plan it comes to nearly 100 dollars a month. i never got a clear answer, will i get charged by amazon.com if i remove text messaging and data plan?

I changed my data plan twice, and cut it way back on one of my phones. they will only charge you if you cancel the voice plan.
I transferred my numbers from sprint after the phones arrived and wasn't charged for that either.
BTW, Amazon rocks. the price was much better, just keep it for 6 months or you'll be sorry. I bought my wife a 3125 at the same time, and the usb port quit working. it was right around 30 days, and they shipped me a brand new phone overnight. still haven't asked for the old one back....

My wife went from the Iphone 3G to the Focus about 2 or so weeks back.... a few days after the new windows phones were released. I myself have a tilt 2 but was ready for an upgrade. We went in to look at the new phones and at that time they didnt know about the BOGO offer that was coming up for Black friday (and presumably running through out the holidays). She went ahead and got her phone. Today we went in and asked if we could still get the free phone. As she was still in the 30 day grace period we figured it wouldn't be an issue. Sure enough.... a quick call to the manager and I had the phone in my hand. The only extra I paid for was the Zag Shield.
I'm not sure WHAT had to be done to get it. Whether you needed to add another line etc but since we already had 4 lines on our family plan we had decided to add my mom on for her Christmas. We told him we wanted to add a new line as well although he didnt actually tie the new Focus to that new line, and it didnt get tied to my number yet either. I'm not sure but I do think you need to start a new line (which luckily enough we already planned on doing) to get the BOBO deal with AT&T. He seemed to imply I could get it for free too by using my upgrade status which was also open from the original purchase of the Fuze 2 years ago.
I figure if in the new year they release some newer cooler phones (ie one with the same size screen but has a keyboard) I'll use my upgrade for that and sell the Focus off.
So anyone who did get their focus (or any other windows phone for that matter) early and wants to go in to get their free phone go and and schmooze and you'll be walking out with the second phone in your hand!

I had bought 2 focuses (foci?) at 2 seperate ATT stores about a week apart from each other. I went to one store and got the money credited back to my credit card. I then received a call from the second store and they told me they would credit the account the amount of one of the phones since they noticed I had bought 2 phones within a week of each other.
If someone wants to sell the one he got for free at a fair price, please let me know

That's fairly similar as to how I got my fuze... they had some promo going on and they had a programming glitch where you could put the coupon on multiple times... which I did. I got that phone for free. A year later when I got my tilt 2 my wife got it for 100 dollars upfront and then AT&T sent me a $50.00 visa gift card, so really the phone was 50 dollars. HTC at the time had this promo where they would accept ANY smart phone trade in when you bought a tilt 2 and they'd pay you 100 dollars. I sent in my HTC Vouge and they gave me 100 dollars... so really I got paid 50 dollars for getting a new phone.
Then once this promo came along, well suffice to say my wife just rolled her eyes... yet another free phone

Correct. As far as I understand. You could try returning your Focus and re-purchasing at your local AT&T?

I've contacted AT&T about this. You MUST get a new line OR upgrade an existing line that is eligible for upgrade. Since I want to give the free phone to my dad, they did say 2 things that kept my interest though:
they can be flexible on 'eligibility'
I can transfer the phone to my dad's account, as long as he's eligible and an existing AT&T subscriber
One other thing - gotta do it within the 30 day grace period.
How much each store follows these rules, of course, would depend on the store

Correct. Two-year contract and data plan are required on both lines. AT&T makes minimum $600 ($15 data + $10 add a line = $25/mo minimum) over two year period off you per phone. That's how they can afford to give you one for free.
I'm planning to upgrade my phone n get me a Focus, since it's BOGO deal right now. I'm wondering if this plan will work or not. Currently Im in a family plan and my dad is able to upgrade his phone too and planing to give the 2nd phone to him. however, since he's a tech noob im going to go head take the phone, but cancel his data plan so he can use his old phone. Then just sell the 2nd phone. do you think AT&T will allow me to do this, since my dad would not use the Focus.
My sister had done this before, she got an iPhone n hate it. So she use her old phone, canceled the data plan and sell her iphone on eBay.

I didn't even have to go through that much hassle. I told them I'd bought the first one in the last 30 days and they gave me a second one for free. They did charge an $18 upgrade fee on the line I upgraded but they didn't make me go through any "resell" or "restock" ordeal. They just put in a promo code for it and gave it to me.
Amazon is selling the phones for $.01 with a 2 yr plan.
For 2 qualified plans, that's a whopping $.02. Just a tad better than AT&T's BOGO deal.

Take a look at the fine print for things like the early termination fee. Don't fool yourself into thinking that Amazon is only making $.01 on the phone.
yep not only do you get dinged with an early termination fee from ATT but one from Amazon as well... I think Amazon's is bigger then ATT's actually. Not to mention I believe you only get that on new lines.... not ones you are adding onto an existing family plan. I could be wrong here.

probably more suited to the Q&A thread, but i'm interested in this too. Orange have snarfed enough of my money, they ought to do it for free. I'm currently battling with them, will let you know if I manage to get it done.
A side note, is your contract up and you cant choose a phone? most people prob know this but pay as you go deals are shocking. i was going to switch to payg and wait for the next gen of phones - oranges pay as you go offers are totally ****e. instead i asked to be put on a rolling contract, now i pay £14.90 get 500 mins, unlimited text and 500mb. as opposed to £10 a month for 100 mins + 100 texts...no brainer. Tho i did have to speak to 3 or 4 different people before they understood. regardless, my bill has halved and all i've lost is unlimited data and 100 mins. not bad as i was told i used 83mb last month. great to live in an area without 3G.

i didnt use an unlock code .. i installed villainRom and i was unlocked
Breaking news: Received a letter in the post today saying my unlock code would be dispatched within 30 days and my account credited to the tune of £20 to cover the admin fee (which I havent paid but assume they will take from my account instantaneously)
Take this as a FACT that orange will unlock your phone for free as they should.
I sent them a really stroppy email, but, it worked.

Just got off the phone with tmobile. Anyone who had a Note 7 will automatically get a 25 dollar credit within 2 to 3 billing cycles. $100? Nice big old slap in the face from Sammy. I will be returning my $900 Note 7 back to Best Buy as soon as my brand new in box s7 edge from ebay which only costed $500 arrives this weekend.
I refunded my paid off Note 7 to go back to my Note 4, does that count as going to another Sammy device?
