Hydrogen OS to Oxygen OS, OTA? - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I just got my OPT this afternoon and it's shipped with Hydrogen OS. So immediately I flashed to Oxygen OS by copying the zip file and flash it through recovery. I have just one question though, will I still be able to receive OTA updates in the future? Cuz it would be inconvenient to flash every update manually.

How do I check that? Does it affect the OTA?

I would also like to know if I will be able to get OTA in the future.

no. the Oxygen image in circulation is a buggy pre-release version which would not receive OTA in the future.

Do you mean I never will be able to get OTA updates of OxygenOS on my Chinese handset? Or do I have to manually update to a newer version of Oxygen when it will be available and then get OTA updates after?

Buggy? Isn't it the same OS as what is shipped in the international model? It's oxygen OS 2.0.0 so how is it different?
So what do I need to do in order to receive OTAs in the future?

the answer is yes so far but I'm pretty sure OP will release an official Oxygen image in the near future.

I have both international and Chinese version with the latter flashed with Oxygen. The experience is clearly different since the Chinese buddy are warmer, incompatible with some software, and quite slow in focusing. As I have mentioned in the earlier post, an official image is expected.

Mine is build 150725 as well (flashed from Hydrogen OS, china handset). Is there a zip file of the newer version that we can flash?
So I guess in conclusion, we'll be able to flash the official Oxygen OS soon and then we'll be able to get OTA updates in the future, right?

What do u mean 'warmer'? U mean the screen? I thought hardware is the same regardless of the region?

I believe everyone with A2003 has the same built (I have the same). It is interesting to have the same screen from international version.

sorry for the confusion. warmer means the phone gets hot easily.
Switched back to Hydrogen yesterday, everything was so much better. So it may be either Oxygen working bad with Chinese variant or due to inherent problem of Oxygen.
In terms of hardware, I do not believe they are the same across region. OP may block some LTE bands to save an extra penny from Qualcomm (which is not unlockable like OPO and many other phones by Chinese manufacturers)

Really? Mine doesn't really feel all that warm, always less than 40 Celsius. And oxygen isn't all that buggy, just some minor issues that's all. What worries me the most is that I want to be able to receive OTA updates

I don't care about the Stagefright fix since the SMS app I use has had it for some time. I would like to get the night mode for my camera though. Hopefully, it will roll out here eventually.

Stagefright affects more than just SMS. That is just to most well known way to exploit it. And many third party apps that fixed stagefright on their end do not include the second fix that Google recently pushed.
Build no? I'm on XT 1550 with LP123.72-47, and don't see any updates.(purchased last week from flipkart, factory installed build)

You need to read up on ASLR and not drink the kool-aid from Google. Like I said I don't worry that much about it and no one running Android 4 or later really needs to.

Yes it's necessary to be on stock recovery.

My Moto G3 is in this state. The bootloader is unlocked, I have updated via OTA and now it turns black after 2~3 seconds of the start of boot animation. Now I'm trying to download and install a stock ROM. Thanks, Motorola.

You can't blame Motorola for that, it is your fault for unlocking the bootloader. That is why they warn against it and you should always have a backup to flash before doing so.
Yes, I can't. But it doesn't hurt to explain better the reasons for their advise against the mods. As I understood, the problem was with TWRP recovery. If I knew about this before, I would simply had flashed the original recovery before allowing the OTA update.
Now I'm finally with my phone back to business

When we get Marshmallow

Just for fun, flame on/off, you decide it
-edit-
I posted this thread on reddit/idol3 and guess what, it's not there
the end of may is most likely to happen , but the beginning of june can be a valide option , either way its close to happen soon XXD
keep hopping !
I hope soon
I think this will heavily depend on the carrier.
For me and Bell Mobility in Canada.. They haven't released a single update since they launched the phone (not even a stagefright update) so I have ZERO confidence that I'll be seeing Marshmallow through any OTA's.

so a carrier locked phone according to this screenshot will get the update on May 31... well, they say the update will come for unbranded devices first and then later to carrier locked phones, so the unbranded idols should get the update days or weeks before this date
or alcatel follows its way and at first releases updates on carrier locked devices and months later for unbranded ones
i have a bad feeling about this.

I just got my 6045I global unlocked from Amazon to replace my stolen 60450(Cricket) a week ago, and it came with pre-marshmallow firmware and latest security update already installed.... I know this because the first one was old stock and arrived with the seal broken,so I asked for replacement and was told I could use old one until new arrived. The first downloaded the updates(came from Amazon fulfillment Kentucky), and the second came from Los Angeles (fresh from port,I assume), and had those 2 updates already installed, and judging from IMEI's, the 2nd was NEW, so make of that what you will. Everything I've heard points to end of May/early June. I am hoping for sooner, as the lack of ad blocking, and hopefully much improved memory management is killing me! We shall see.

New Bly R1 HD update, enables band 12 and VoLTE!

Updating my phone now, just got an over the air update. It says its version 7.4.2, 372.62 megs, and in the info section it says it includes Band 12, VoLTE, and security updates. For those on stock, you guys may want this, especially those on T-Mobile.
I just tried to update my stock phone and it says no update available.

I still haven't received an OTA update. Are you a stock BLU r1 HD or Amazon variant?
and is 7.4.2 Nougat? just asking because I would think the 7 would mean the version of android and Marshmallow is 6.

It appears it only provides the security patch, band 12 & VoLTE. Android remains at 6.0.

So I've noticed that when I'm at work on band 12 I have full bars on 4G LTE. However it keeps reverting to band 2 where I barley have a 4G LTE signal. Isn't it supposed to connect to the strongest signal automatically? I have to go into MTK and disable band 2 for it to connect to band 12.

still no update here~ and yes I would think it would work on the stronger/strongest singnal, but then again this is "new" on the BLU r1 HD and there could be some bugs.
The update completely messed up my phone. My R1 is a completely bone stock prime version phone. Over half of my apps disappeared, and play store is not working at all to reinstall them. I tried uninstalling updates to the playstore from system settings, but that isn't working either. I hope I don't have to do a factory reset and start all over.
Any ideas of what else I can try?

Nevermind. All of my apps that were on the SD card are what disappeared and wouldn't reinstall. As soon as I moved just one of the apps back to the system storage, the rest reappeared.
Stock phone. Got the update last night. Went well. Wireless Update is now v5.5. Is band 12 & VoLTE of any extra value on ATT?
Edit: Guess it can improve voice calls on the same network.

Prime/non-Prime update
From what I've been able to gather, this update only applies to the Amazon Prime variants.
...and I literally just converted to the non-Prime ROM via ColtonDRG's guide. Now I'm stuck on v12 without VoLTE (what I really want/need) unless I go back to the Prime ROM I'm going to bed and hoping that this all gets sorted out sooner than later.

I was hoping an official update for V12 will be released but it seems BLU don't really care, while amazon is pushing needed updates.
I guess it will be time for me to convert my V12 to V7.4.2 when a safe, clean and open method is available.

Yes started at lunch
ditto, just got prompted to install. not going to, yet....
edit:
just a security patch? isn't Nougat supposed to be pushed soon? makes me think it's a ways away if they chose not to bundle this with it.
1.85.605.8 to 1.85.605.9??
LMAO.
Only Verizon to tease with a security update when we're waiting for nougat.
Well at least it's the most current security patch.

I would search the forum under the root and recoveries. This has been discussed before, and there are ways to do it.
This has nothing to do with custom firmwares, I'm asking how to find stock nougat or how to update the phone, not how to root or flash twrp. At least how to find OTA files. As i see the latest RUU is from October.

I better sell this phone or exchange it to an international or other carrier variant than pay 25$ for a software that does almost nothing. I guess RUU is the only way to update it.

Keep that up and you will get no help around here. You might even be called a leech.
Ruu are generally posted only after availability of the OTA. As we have no nougat OTA I have no Verizon ruu to post yet.

Did i offend someone or what ? When i can help other people i help them, when i like someone's work i appreciate it and post positive comments and sometimes donate but S-OFF for 25 bucks.... In my country the average salary is 130$
I thought the nougat was released long time ago for HTC 10, verizon is really slow with these updates. I'll just wait for the RUU then.

Huawei cpu gpu turbo is available now for honor 8 pro

Did you update it yet? Any improvement on gaming front?
Currenty can not even play PUBG in lowest settings without frequent frame drops. Even SD450 devices perform better than this.

the update is bound to IMEI, so I don't think it will work. I am still waiting for the firmware(DUK-L09 C675) to be released on Firmware Finder, after then will flash it using no-check recovery.

It is now available on firmware Finder for Indian models also.
Just installed it, seems a lot better than previous version.

Unless the Firmware is approved, then you can't upgrade using Firmware Finder without Bootloader unlock. Anyway the OTA should be available by Mid November, so probably better to wait for Official release. Cheers.
