Alcatel One Touch 6040D... OFW (official firmware)... ??? - Alcatel Idol X Questions & Answers

Hi XDA,
i don't know where or how to seach this IDOL-X forum... but i've been looking for IDOL-X forum for:
1. How to get or where to download OFW for my phone?
2. If i get the firmware, how i could flash it using the stock recovery? cuz there's an option i could flash using ADB or using sdcard.
i tried to used the "OFFICIAL: Mobile Upgrade S 4.3.0" but when in the checking the server, it always failed.
i have an COM.NB.SUPERUSER virus i gues. it automatically download and install a LOT of apps and games.
thanks in advance.

[Q] Need Help with my ROOT!

Okay.. The problem started after i installed BusyBox and Cyanogenmod Recovery.. I noticed that Titanium Backup (which requires root privileges) doesn't work anymore.. Then I understood that my root doesn't work anymore when i tried to link an app to the SD card by using Link2sd..
I even tried to remove the root and re-install it again but it appeared that i can't uninstall it.. I've tried many ZIPs -that UNROOTS the device- to flash from the recovery mode, still cant get rid of the root..
I've also considered flashing a new stock ROM but the problem is that i can't find one.. I should mention that I searched here on xda-developers but the ROMs I found was uploaded on the server hotfile.com which is currently unavailable. >> MY DEVICE IS SAMSUNG GALAXY Y GT-S5360
___
What I need right now is:
1. Help Me repair my root to work as usual.
OR
2. Help me completely remove the root and re-install it (i think that should help)
OR
3. Help me find an official ROM from my country Egypt or any ROM that supports Arabic as a writing method in the keyboard..
**If we couldn't find one.. Could I just flash any other official ROM of any other country.. What should I lose or gain?**
I tried this before.

Not sure if it was still working though.
Or you can use this

I used this one a while back when my superuser wasn't working.

I'm now confused, which other option i should try the first or the second?

all firmware including arabic firmware is on my firmware thread right at the top of the 5360 dev section in a sticky thread - we havent been using hotfile for ages

1st flash your region's ROM from here with Odin
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2568853
IF YOU LOVE YOUR PHONE, DO NOT FLASH OTHER COUNTRY ROM.
Then you need to root it.
Root it using my SGY Toolkit
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50182901
[OPTIONAL]
Install busybox using Stericson's Installer. Get it from Play Store.
Sorry if my solution didn't work.
I'm used to test flashing stuff on my phone if some stuff don't work.
I'll leave the answers to the experts.

[Q] Please help - soft brick - need file access to edit file names.

hi all,
I bought a 2nd hand Samsung s4 gt-i9505 here in the UK with 3 network branding. I think it was running ver. 4.2.2 ... It definitely kept asking for an update !
KOT49H.I9505XXUFNA5
I have rooted the phone using kingo root.
I then tried to remove the 3 network animation by renaming the boot files and adding ( what I thought was standard ) files.
Now It won't boot and goes into recovery mode.
I have tried all of the restore options - wipe cache etc. .. no joy.
If I could either
a) get into the file system and renames the files back again or
b) flash the rom to some stock ish rom ... then that would be great
Ive tried ADB and not had much luck with it. ... keeps saying error:closed
Im updating with the SDK manager now and hoping for another option.
should I just upload one of these roms from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544474
or if some one can write a little file so I can upload it it to my SD card and exicute it in recovery mode that would be wonderful !!
The files I renamed are:
system/media/audio/ui and search for PowerOn.oggold
and
system/media/bootsamsung.qmgold
system/media/bootsamsungloop.qmgold
system/media/shutdown.qmgold
Please help. Im not in a good place atm. -_-
Can you go to DOWNLOAD MODE?
yep, I have just tried it. download mode works
Well then either flash a stock rom
or
Flash a custom recovery > Flash aroma filemanager with the custom recovery > Then you will be able to rename the files.
ok , thx for the help so far guys.
Ill go for a custom rom.
Please could you tell me which one is compatible for my phone and standard kernel.
I have a UK s4 GT-i9505 branded to 3.would I be right in saying pick any ROM from the list in the link above ( previous post in this thread)
All I want in a ROM is no bloat where , fast, stable. 4g wifi etc etc. ( so full features I guess )
Many thanks for your help.

You don't need root, only a custom recovery.
ok.
So i definately need to update the rom. ( ADB win't work cause I have factory reset phone and therefore debugging is not enabled.)
I have decided to go with google play edition rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557353
I d/l the rom onto sd card, and tried to get it to install. it comes up with a fail ( footer fail and verification fail ) . Im sure it because I need to use a custom recovery program ( as stated in a previous post. )
I think I need to run something like TWRP . is that right ? http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/182
I think I need to use ODIN to install TWRP onto the phone ... is that right ..? or should I be looking for some .zip file I can use in recovery mode ...??
many thanks to all for your continued help
Matt
hi ya all.
Ive managed to sort out my phone !
I used a custom installer TWRP, and then uploaded a custom ROM from the SD card ( google play edition - very snappy.)
I also needed to update the kernel.
I used Odin to install TWRP first - google a vid on how to
Then put the ROM onto the SD card and used TWRP to install
Then used odin again to install kernel.
Its very easy to do ... but very daunting at first.
Many thanks to all in here to have helped me, I know there must be hundreds of threads like this, but your pointers helped loads !

Mobile odin method
If i was to use mobile odin to flash a recovery after i have achieved root with towel root?
My KNOX isn't tripped but i cannot find any information anywhere if using mobile odin will trip it.
I knew this method used to work with older samsung devices like the s4, achieve root without tripping KNOX, flash the recovery via mobile odin and still have a 0x0 counter.
I followed instructions but Odin returns FAIL! at the top where it said cache. In the Messages I get Complete(Write) operation failed.
All threads completed (succeed 0 / failed 1)
What should I do?

Ok I was able to fix the problem AND root the tablet. First thing you need to do is reboot it into download mode. Voume Down+Home+Power held until Message comes up and then hit Volume Up. Then connect to computer and start Odin 3.07 and flash the P900XXUANB3-RecoveryImg.tar onto it. Now reboot into download mode again and flash the CF-Auto-Root-v1awifi-v1awifixx-smp900.tar.md5 onto it and you will have root. Notice the v1awifixx-smp900 is different from the v2wifixx-smt900 file that is in the CF-Auto-Root file from this thread. It worked like a charm for me. I found this all on other forums, but it took a lot of digging to find so I can't remember exactly where I looked. The files you need can be found here on my dropbox, I'll keep them up for a while hopefully this will help some people who are in the same boat. https://www.dropbox.com/s/185w746cmunwh0y/CF-Auto-Root-v1awifi-v1awifixx-smp900.tar.md5?dl=0 and https://www.dropbox.com/s/71srvj8mq32ymi1/P900XXUANB3-RecoveryImg.tar?dl=0

TWRP on tab pro 8.4
Hey guys.
In TWRP Manager, Tab Pro 8.4 Wifi (t320) isn't showing up on the device list... What should I do?
Thanks!
go to the twrp website, you'll find It there
When to install TWRP
Should I root first, then install TWRP?
I tried this and got stuck in a boot loop... Nothing Best Buy couldn't fix for me. But I don't want to repeat whatever mistake I made.
I gather that I cannot make a nandroid backup until TWRP is flashed. So shouldn't I flash TWRP, then make a nandroid backup, then root, then flash the ROM?
Sorry, I used to be good at this years ago I swear....
Thanks!!
root, reboot, install twrp, reboot, make nandroid

Recovery for Samsung Tab pro 8.4 wifi
Hi,
Following this tuto, I am now root.
I am trying to install a recovery (I would like then to install a new ROM ).
In "2a", it is said: "select yes if that is the correct place".
But in TWRP Manager, when I proceed (downloading Recovery, instal...), it's asking if "/dev/block/platform/msm-sdcc.1/by-name/recovery" is the right place? And I don't know and I can't answer... :silly:
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards.
