Mobile odin method
If i was to use mobile odin to flash a recovery after i have achieved root with towel root?
My KNOX isn't tripped but i cannot find any information anywhere if using mobile odin will trip it.
I knew this method used to work with older samsung devices like the s4, achieve root without tripping KNOX, flash the recovery via mobile odin and still have a 0x0 counter.

I followed instructions but Odin returns FAIL! at the top where it said cache. In the Messages I get Complete(Write) operation failed.
All threads completed (succeed 0 / failed 1)
What should I do?

Ok I was able to fix the problem AND root the tablet. First thing you need to do is reboot it into download mode. Voume Down+Home+Power held until Message comes up and then hit Volume Up. Then connect to computer and start Odin 3.07 and flash the P900XXUANB3-RecoveryImg.tar onto it. Now reboot into download mode again and flash the CF-Auto-Root-v1awifi-v1awifixx-smp900.tar.md5 onto it and you will have root. Notice the v1awifixx-smp900 is different from the v2wifixx-smt900 file that is in the CF-Auto-Root file from this thread. It worked like a charm for me. I found this all on other forums, but it took a lot of digging to find so I can't remember exactly where I looked. The files you need can be found here on my dropbox, I'll keep them up for a while hopefully this will help some people who are in the same boat. https://www.dropbox.com/s/185w746cmunwh0y/CF-Auto-Root-v1awifi-v1awifixx-smp900.tar.md5?dl=0 and https://www.dropbox.com/s/71srvj8mq32ymi1/P900XXUANB3-RecoveryImg.tar?dl=0

TWRP on tab pro 8.4
Hey guys.
In TWRP Manager, Tab Pro 8.4 Wifi (t320) isn't showing up on the device list... What should I do?
Thanks!

go to the twrp website, you'll find It there

When to install TWRP
Should I root first, then install TWRP?
I tried this and got stuck in a boot loop... Nothing Best Buy couldn't fix for me. But I don't want to repeat whatever mistake I made.
I gather that I cannot make a nandroid backup until TWRP is flashed. So shouldn't I flash TWRP, then make a nandroid backup, then root, then flash the ROM?
Sorry, I used to be good at this years ago I swear....
Thanks!!

root, reboot, install twrp, reboot, make nandroid

Recovery for Samsung Tab pro 8.4 wifi
Hi,
Following this tuto, I am now root.
I am trying to install a recovery (I would like then to install a new ROM ).
In "2a", it is said: "select yes if that is the correct place".
But in TWRP Manager, when I proceed (downloading Recovery, instal...), it's asking if "/dev/block/platform/msm-sdcc.1/by-name/recovery" is the right place? And I don't know and I can't answer... :silly:
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards.

T320 Question
Hey! I'm wondering if anyone has tried this with the SM-T320 running with build number KOT49H.T320UEU1AOCI. CF's site only the build number as the prior update, just wondering if it'll still work before I break something.

[GUIDE] Rooting Galaxy Tab 10.1 - ICS

Hello everybody.
I had some hard time rooting my tablet because of the broken links and outdated guides that didn't work if you had updated to stock ICS. After some hours of tinkering I managed to find the correct files for rooting it so here's and up to date guide for rooting the Galaxy Tab 10.1 with the latest ICS OTA update.
For the record my tablet is GT-P7500 with 3G. This guide should also work for GT-P7510 which is WiFi-only. Please leave a reply if it worked for your other model so I can include it here! Please also tell me if there are mistakes in the guide or you have a problem at some point.
If you follow these steps you will void your warranty.
The package can be downloaded from the signature, or in a single file here:
MIRROR - 1 (Down at the moment)
MIRROR - 2 (Mediafire)
The package ROOT-GT-P7500.rar includes:
A recent version of Odin (v3.07 - 2013)
Samsung USB drivers for Windows
Odin flashable TWRP recovery
TWRP flashable SuperSu
1 - Preparation
Extract the files to a place on your computer.
Make sure Kies isn't running on your PC. Look for its icon in the notification area.
Install "Samsung_USB_Driver_1.5.5.0.exe".
Move the file "Flashable_SuperUser.zip" to the root of your sdcard.
Open "Odin3 v3.07.exe" on your PC.
Press the "PDA" button and select "recovery-TWRP-P4-P7500.tar".
Leave Odin open on the PC.
2 - Download mode
Turn off your tablet.
Connect the USB cable.
Hold POWER + VOLUME DOWN until you see some Android images.
Press VOLUME UP, wait a moment until you get to another screen an press it again.
You should now be in "Download mode".
Open Odin and make sure that the first ID:COM column has a bluish colours and some text like "0:[COM4]". The ID:COM turns blue whever Odin has detected connection between your PC and the tablet. If it's still white/grey something is wrong with the USB connection or the Samsung USB-driver.
3 - The flashing
Now everything should be ready for Odin to flash you a new recovery. Don't change any of the default settings other than what's mentioned here.
Press "Start" in Odin to begin the flash, it should only take a few seconds. If your tabletreboots everything went fine!
If you have problems with Odin detecting your tablet, try rebooting your computer and your tablet, and using a different USB port. It's probably a driver problem.
Now turn off your tablet to enter the new TWRP recovery.
Hold POWER + VOLUME DOWN until you see some Android images.
Press VOLUME DOWN once and then VOLUME UP once to enter recovery.
Use TWRP to backup your current ROM in case something goes wrong or you want to return to stock ROM some time. Google "TWRP guide" if you don't know how to use it.
Once the backup is done, press "Install" in the TWRP main menu.
Locate the "Flashable_SuperUser.zip" and flash it.
If it flashed without errors, reboot your tablet and see if you now have SuperSu within your apps.
You should now have root access!
4 - Custom ROMs
If you want to install custom ROMs, find a flashable ZIP of your favourite ROM and put it on your SDCARD.
You might want to use a program like TitaniumBackup to back up all your apps so you can restore them later on your new ROM.
Follow the above steps from step 4 to enter recovery.
Backup your ROM again.
Press "Wipe" and then wipe cache, dalvik-cache, system and do the factory-reset.
Press "Install" and locate your ROM's ZIP-file.
Flash it and reboot!
That's about it. For long-time reliability I've included the file package in the signature in a split rar file (XDA doesn't allow big files). Download them all and then extract only one of them like any other rar file. If none of the mirrors aren't working and you have a problem downloading it from the sig, feel free to send me a PM.
If this helped you, please press thanks!

I have never user UnlockRoot. This is the manual way of doing it. If UnlockRoot works then it's probably easier for beginners to use that method

Did you at least manage to install CWM or TWRP recovery? There should be a button called "Mount USB-storage". Press it and connect the tablet to your PC, it should show up as a storage device. If that doesn't work you can always use ADB PUSH on Windows to move files to your phone that is in recovery mode. There are several guides for that.
EDIT: Nvm, didn't notice you had fixed it already.
Hey man thanks for this guide. I've been flashing my sgs1900 here & there for a few years but just acquired a SG 10.1 tab so obviously I had to root it for flashing some custom roms later on. Anyway I can see things are more or less the same, but still just a little bit different enough to want to have a good guide at hand before I get all smug at myself later on for thinking I'm a rom king
Excellent guide & thank you for all the required files. KUDOS!
Sdcard
Sorry, I'm new to this. I understand everything except the part that says "Move the file "Flashable_SuperUser.zip" to the root of your sdcard." how do I do this? When I hook up the tablet to my pc, I do not see a sdcard folder.

My apologies, that part really is a bit confusing. "The root of your sdcard" means that you don't put it in any folder. It's the upmost folder level that the user can access without root rights.

Will there be any issues running this from 64bit Win7?
I flashed the TWRP file using attached odin and recovery file.
No issues during flash, but when I goto TWRP the screen flickers.
Just like the refresh rate is not ok.
Someone ideas?

Currently I succeeded by using the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2098429
and using the rom [ROM] [JB 4.3.1] CM10.2/SGT7 for P4WIFI and P4 [20140223] accordingly. It was a frightning night but we servived (me and my tablet).
Thanks again.
well.. I broke it
i've followed this instruction and forget to sweep content before rom instalation and my rom is broken.
I've been searching a way to transfer another rom data to my tab memory but somehow my laptop couldn't detect TWRP v4.2.2 version.
I'm still searching for another TWRP version that can be file pushing on to TWRP directly from my laptop.
is there any suggestion?
thank you

Use TWRP 2.6.3.0 explained in two post lower, then read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2304122
howto use adb to push a new rom to the tablet (zipfile to flash). Be patience, takes a long time.

[Q] Problem with ROOT, ROM and Recovery

Hi,
I was in doubt between doing or not doing the ROOT in my Galaxy S4 4G (GT-I9505)...
But I tried to start doing it.
I asked a friend who had already made it on his device!
At first he tried to install the recovery, so I would not lose my S4.
He used the Odin as he did for himself, but it faild. So I gave up doing te ROOT and we stopped.
Ok then, but today I looked for an upgrade original from Samsung on my device. But it said:
"Your device was modified. Upgrades are not available."
What can I do now?? I need to reset it to the original form or finish the ROOT successfully.
And I can't even put my device on recovery mode! It fails.
Please, help me!
I don't know what to do and this is my first post.
Ps.: out of this problem, my device is functioning normally.
Thank you!

Do you need root, is there something you can`t do without root atm or do you want to remove useless/unneeded stuff?
Better read up about rooting, flashing, recovery`s, roms and Odin so you`ll know what the (dis)advantages, risks and benefits are before you get into trouble
Do the following for now:
1. Download CF Auto Root from here http://download.chainfire.eu/316/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.zip and extract it once with 7-zip.
2. Download Odin 3.04 http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1168422&d=1341114468.
3.Enable usb debugging and disable Kies (also in windows task manager)
4. Place the extracted CF Root md5 file in Odin in the PDA section.
5. Put he phone in downloadmode (turn off the phone and then press volume down first and then the power button)
6. Connect to pc and and press start if you see ID;COM light up and you see a com number.
Reboot and you have root. Also install Busybox from Google Play.

Do as said in the post above first. Then install Triangle Away and use that to reset the counter, when its done go straight to downloadmode and reflash the rom you have now with Odin 3.04, after it boots do a data factory reset and you`re fully stock with everything Official.

Yes, you can go back.
The easiest way is to flash a stock ROM via Odin, search for the ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252855 and follow the instructions.

[Q] unauthorized software

I stupidly tried to flash a custom recovery without unlocking the boot loader (2nd time rooting a phone) and of course now I get the message that there is software not authorized by Verizon, yada yada yada.....I can't use the phone. As I already said, I'm not very smart w/ this I guess. I rooted my phone with the new towelroot method and it worked flawlessly....but then I tried to go further and figured I'd just do everything necessary to run custom roms. Anyways, I've got the yellow triangle and I really really don't want to go to Verizon and try to talk my way into a replacement (I just got a replacement phone about 2 weeks ago) Is there any way to fix this? Before you reply, know I don't have a windows computer so I don't think I can use Odin, and my phone isn't showing up in Kies when I connect it after making sure my phone is in download mode. I'm at a loss.
Your only option is Odin, I would say find a friend with a windows computer... Then once you are back on track, read on this forum about safestrap before you flash anything else... Good luck!

Can anyone point me in the right direction to download the right pit file for use in Odin (Jodin3 to be specific). It's supposed to find the proper pit file automatically, but it can't for some reason. Oh, and I did do some digging....for some reason the only pit file I found (which was uploaded in Oct. of 2013) doesn't work. I can't find anything else other than that...if there is anything else.
I am trying to fix his phone for him but I am unable to find any full 4.4.2 Odin tars, are there even any available yet? The only ones I can find seem to be on websites I have never heard of haha.
Help Please
I also Rooted via Towel Method and flashed clockwork touch recovery not thinking, and i am also in the same boat. Can anyone point me in the direction of a stock TAR file to flash with ODIN, So i can get my note working again.. Any help would be great.. Thanks in advance

Having an impossible time flashing CM11 rom, been at it for hours please HELP

This used to be easy.
After 8 hours yesterday I think I managed to root the phone. CWM/TWRP will not install. At all, under any method. Rom manager, goo manager, I now get this stupid message that says that "an application attempted to access something unauthorized and has been blocked" over and over.
Just trying to flash CM11 rom. Guess I need to learn how to sideload or something? I physically can't get my phone to recovery mode other than the stock Android, which does not have the "flash zip from sdcard" option.
For the love of god help me. My phone stopped working around 2 pm yesterday and I seriously can't believe I'm about to be going into day 2 of this, so rather than drive myself crazy i'm going to wait for help
bump please help should be simple
Hi,
Please, don't panic! Panic is your worst enemy . First, give a good read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419762. Then try again . It's very likely Knox is blocking your TWRP/CWM installation, that's why you receive this message.

Hi,
You need to flash the recovery via Odin . After flashing the recovery via Odin you'll be able to flash the ROM normally .
All the best,

also trying to flash TWRP
its just all failing on the install
Hi,
Please post your installation issue on the Galaxy S4 Help Thread there might be someone better than me to help you there. Also are you sure you're flashing the right files and using the right method? Did you try another USB Cable? Did you try another Odin version? It all can contribute to the fail.

its the official samsung cable. and yes i tried others
tried other versions of odin as well
and different versions of both twrp and cwm
its crazy i tells ya xD
If it fails to flash true Odin, then you are doing something wrong.
- Different pc
- Reinstall drivers
- Different cable
- Different usb port
- Make sure kies is not running in the background
What are you running? Windows 8? Try a windows 7 pc.
Post the details of the error you are getting.
Also when the flash goes succesfull, but you still don't have a custom recovery, then uncheck auto-reboot.
can someone please link me to a guaranteed working version of a flashable recovery for odin ?
I know its a lot to ask but I've actually gone through almost that entire list you listed
tried diff cables
no kies runnning
on windows 7
drivers been installed twice
maybe i should try the other port, but in case that doesnt work can anyone just link me? sorry i've just never had this much problems with this, must be b/c of the new security knox update or w/e in oct of last year. Last June I did all this in about 15 minutes....
I had the same trouble with the knox crap yesterday, the only way I could get it rooted and/or with custom recovery was to use the Cyanogen windows installer, then when CM booted I then rebooted into recovery and installed a different rom from there. :good:

so where do i find this windows installer? i'm just trying to put CM on there so I suppose this would work
Hi i know youve already said said its officail cable but im saying try another different s4 cable. Because when i was installing recovery or anything it wouldnt let me (i thought i had original white s4 cable) but then i got my dads cable (hes gt s4) and it worked instantly. These fake cables are at large and its very very difficult to tell if its original.
Also like previous guy said using a different computer/laptop also helps i know because ive flashed my phones since day 1.
GL and plz let me know if u managed to fix it another way as its always good to try new options when others fail.

http://www.cyanogenmod.org/ then click the start button and follow the instructions.
It will get you to download the installer (or http://dist01.slc.cyngn.com/CMInstaller.msi?t=1403660099360) the click it to run, It may download an update for itself, then it will download recovery, operating system, gapps, then start to install everything. About 300mb altogether.
That way you don't need the tar files, just search on this sight for flashable from recovery for the recovery files you want. (I use the touch versions myself).

thanks, but naturally this would be too easy
says: "not supported on your device"
a freaking S4 AT&T! what the ****?
From what I've read AT&T have locked bootloaders. Glad I have an unlocked Australian version!
Yeah so if anyone can still find a way to help me that'd be awesome. Wasted two days already and rather not be stuck with stock

So do you have an AT&T phone? If you do, you are in the wrong section of the forum.

Start Up Fail while installing rom

Ok guys I just recently rooted my first phone. All was well until I tried to install my first ROM. It seemed to be going fine until I got a Screen that said "start up fail" and in small red text at the top it said "Custom Binary Blocked By Secure Boot (Boot. img)" Here is a picture of the screen: http://imgur.com/a/DQ62P
Here is the link to the ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/development/stang5litre-edition-5-0-s7e-t3450208
Any Ideas on what I can do to fix this?

I had a similar occurrence while using FlashFire when I accidentally hit the EverRoot option. You'll have to put it into download mode and ODIN a stock ROM onto it. Then ROOT and upgrade as usual being careful not to hit the EverRoot. Hope it helps.

I never hit EverRoot and I've tried it twice now and still havent gotten it to work Could it be something to do with the firmware?
Hey man, sorry to hear about this, I'm not exactly sure your problem, but I guess I would start by re-flashing the ENG Boot for your device (via Odin) - assuming that's the root method you used (you can find it here if you haven't got it elsewhere) Otherwise you could flash your device's stock firmware via Odin and then you could try following this guide here for rooting, and retry everything, which is what I would recommend.
I used that guide for my brother's SM-G935V and it has worked "flawlessly", I haven't tried installing a ROM on it yet but it should work as long as the ROM itself works, - I say "flawlessly" because there are a few issues with rooting this phone, but you can easily work around all of them.
I would recommend explaining and detailing your problem as much as you possibly can, in this post and in future posts, so that you can get as much help as possible.. if you need any clarification on anything, let me know, and be careful, for your first phone experimenting ,there's a lot of sh** that can go wrong! Keep in mind that you can fix most problems by flashing your stock firmware with Odin if all else fails.
Best of luck to you, let me know how it goes.
