"AN-21 U" - Unbranded 6.2" 2 DIN 4.4.2 Car Tried rooting now lost BT and WIFI HELP
I tried rooting my device using BAIDU root, now lost bluetooth and wifi and didnt root. HELP!
Android Version 4.4.2
MCU version 4.3.11.1-11-50-454101
Also tried factory reset using the 7890 password but it loops forever. After a couple hours it still doing the factory reset until I turn it off and back on with no changes.
If someone can tell me how can I effectively factory reset this unit I would really appreciate it. Mine has no home button.
Cant get in the fastboot mode either.
I tried pressing the reset button with the power button and it tries to update but nothing else.

Hi!
Excactly same issue here.
Don't know exactly if my equipment is an AN-21 or a variation of. But passwords are the same (7890, 123456 and [email protected]w-desktop) and kind of version it could be. No visual signs outside of the equipment.
Only difference is that has a RK3066 processor.
MCU version: 4.3.10-11-10-450101
System version: 2.9.4_20150316
DVD Version: 2.13.13.1-860mc
Also factory reset didn't work. Re-choosing MCU version inside extra settings didn't work too.
Last resort if there is no answer is try to do image update with same of the Huifei. Seeing the kind of update on the extra settings it appears to be compatible cos has sepperated mcu and firmware updates.
Configuration of the bluetooth is lost, I mean name, pin, etc. and if is not stored when I reconfigure.
The WiFi detects SSID networks, for example WiFI zone of my phone, but doesn't connect with any on the proccess of adquiring IP address saying poor connection quality (not checked on config avoid bad connections).
Waiting for any help before raising the axe!

More info that may help:
Managed to install a system info app. Confirm that my proccessor is an Cortex A9 so it's a variation of AN-21 but 7''.
On About device says android 4.4.2 but the app says 4.2
Hardware appears to function ok and all function managed by mcu,. cos radio, music, GPS, are perfect, my phone connect via bluetooth with the device ok , but on device screen there is nothing detected, perhaps some part of firmware corrupted on rooting proccess.
Wifi has same problem, it detect even weak signas as I drive on street, but can't connect, perhaps same comunication problem.
It seems that is a problem reading and writing parameters, not a hardware failure.
I believe that a reflash of the firmware must solve the problem. But I can't find same release. Perhaps a downgrade is only way to solve the problem by now, my doubt is if the proccess of flashing erase contents (format partitions) for the case any actual file may conflict with the downgrade version.
Still waiting any word of wisdom....

Solved!!!
As I supossed, the problem was some corruption of files, not hardware.
Re-flashed with version 2.9.5 and everything it's working perfect!!!!!!!
No needed to reflash mcu.

So you are my only hope to solve this too

The combination of, from being power-down, reset+power, release reset, 2 seconds, release power, works for me.
Did you tried using the option firmware update from the general settings submenu?
One more thing, reset to factory now also works and it takes only seconds!!!
For the firmware version I downloaded from here
4pda.ru/forum/lofiversion/index.php?t522762.html (sorry I don't have the sufficient posts to be enable to post urls )
If you do not know rumanian, copy and paste the whole url on google and on the find list use option translate. It is not perfect but works for me

Thank you

Your solution worked perfect. Although the display is different now, (not sure if its an upgrade or downgrade) it solved the problem. Im able to connect wifi and bluetooth again!
No back to the original reason for trying to root it was because I wanted to connect a modem and the app for this is for rooted devices.
Any ideas?

Perhaps you downloaded another vendor version, at least I read there are 3 different customisations. Mine is that with the snow and trees background image.
I just terminate tests of rooting. With Baidu 2001 no problem at all, no further corruption of wifi or BT, it has the ability to root. But root is missing on reboot. Have to investigate a little.
Regards.

Where you able to root it successfully?
Im scared now to loose wifi and bt again.

Nahhh, once you know it's not hardware problem, know how to reflash, have the firmware, there's no problem. Always can start over and over.
I will write down the phrase I have on the car forum I modereate, it is in spanish, but can be translated with easy.
"La categoría de vencido sólo se alcanza después de haber luchado y es lo que distingue del desertor y del cobarde"
Good Luck!!!

Getting Closer.
I came across with this feed from the site:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Tonghai_Create_AN-21_U#For_Software_Versions_2.7.38_and_up
And is very specify about which app to use depending on the system version. Using the one indicated there, was able to root too, but lost it at reboot .
I thought to share it with you because there were more tips you may find useful.

More info my friend.
Not yet all the work but with good news.
I was reading some posts across the universe, and decided to to this:
1 - format the equipment completly. This is done with a special firmware called fullformat (fullformat.rar on the repository I mentioned to you some posts above)
2 - flash the version 2.8.8 (2.8.8_TT_preroot.zip on repository)
3 - install and run Baiduroot_2001.apk inside the zip 2.8.8
rooted effectively.
3 - install CWM SuperUser.apk inside the zip 2.8.8
runn supersu, update binary (normal install) when Baidu ask for root access (is easy to recognize cos has a counter decrementing on option)
4 - reboot
5 - install rootchecker from play store.
6 - run rootchecker and agree supersu asking permission of root.
7 - uninstall baidu
8 - reboot
9 - re check root with rootchecker and voila, root doesn't dissappear.
Now I am at this point. Very happy indeed. For the time here 22:00hs (I don t know were you live, here is Argentina).
Tomorrow
10 - update firmware with last version 2.9.5 and check for root not lost.
11 - if root lost -> goto 1 and stop on step 9 untill more information to root last version.
Bye!!!!!

Ok, Just go to point 9.
The only firmware that stays rooted is that 2.8.8 permroot thay I downloaded.
With that firmware also works "ppp widget" (version obsolete of widget, not ver 2) with a Huawei 176 dongle.
Bye.

OK now rooted with version 2.9.5!!!!

Thanks for the info!. Where do I find the file version 2.8.8 (2.8.8_TT_preroot.zip on repository)??

Thank you for valuable information. I was able to perm root using the previous method and then upgraded to 2.9.5 and tried to perm root using the latest method but when I try to access gocsdk file, inside the sys/bin folder is empty, which suggests me that the temp root is not working although baidu messages ok.
Any suggestions?

Use "RootChecker" for checking rooting process.
I have this problem at first using X-plore as a file explorer with no root access, al directories with no permissions are shown as empty.
I've redone all the process this weekend directly flashing the format firmware, then a fresh 2.9.5, and root whith the process of the post
baidu
move gocsdk to gocsdk.bin
create gocsdk as indicated
install supersu
reboot
check root with rootchecker
remove baidu
reboot
check root with rootchecker
And worked again with a fresh 2.9.5.

[Q] Problems rooting updated S4

Hello everyone! My names Danny, sorry I'm extremely frustrated at the moment and apologize for not introducing myself properly in what ever you call your newcomer section here, but I'm ripping my hair out at the moment.
So last night for the 4th time I tried to root my Galaxy S4, again unsuccessfully. While I admit I am no programmer, computer whiz, or rocket scientist, I have previously rooted my old S3 and my girlfriend's Moto Photon successfully in the past, on the 1st try (although they were pretty simple 1 click roots no more difficult than the one I used here, or so I thought.) Now last night I tried to use the CF-Autoroot again for the 3rd time, which i figured after the first 2 attempts was doomed to failure also. This may be due to the fact that I updated it, but I don't know. I'm hoping someone here can point me in the direction of a root that will work with my phone, show me where I may have went wrong in the install,or give some instruction on how to delete the update so I can use the CF-Autoroot. As long as my phone will still function as normal, I could care less which option is used, however I do not have any programming experience whatsoever, so a simpler root would be excellent. I'll give you all the info I can below.
Software version: L720VPUAMF9
Hardware version: L720.08
Model #: SPH-L720
Android version: 4.2.2
Baseband version: L720PUAMF9
Kernal version: 3.4.0-953334
[email protected] # 1
Tue Jun 25 09:36:29 KST 2013
Build #: JDQ39.L720VPUAMF9
SE Linux Status: Permissive
Secure boot status: Type: Samsung
Device Status: Custom (No Triangle Away quite yet, as I'm not sure if it is yet supported on the S4, or if I even need it since I plan on keeping the phone)
Root was done on HP Windows 7 laptop 64-bit, with the phone in camera mode prior to turning off and going into download mode.
I followed the instructions on honai-android.blogspot(dotcom) using CF-Autoroot and Odin V3.07 to the T, except I have yet to get the drivers to install correctly (or so it tells me, everything works fine,) and in Step 4 it says the box should turn yellow and a port number displays, but in my case did not. It did display the "Added" message in the little box like it should have, but it did go through the whole process and I got a PASS notification as it says I should have. I have no idea why it won't work, other than maybe the drivers are screwing me. Ran Root Checker and it tells me "Please wait for Root Check to complete. System appears to be running very slow," and Titanium Backup won't work either. Root checker stayed like this all night last night while I slept.
Also I would appreciate some help reverting it back from the root I apparently didn't install, although I know some of it went through, or Root Checker would just say I didn't have superuser access.
I'm hoping one of you guys here might be able to help me out with this problem, and I greatly appreciate any help I can get. If anymore information is needed, just ask. Much thanks in advance.
You said you used Odin in camera mode? Did you mean download mode? I didn't have to install any drivers to get Odin to work. If you didn't get a yellow box with a com number in it the Odin didn't write anything to your phone. If you look here in the dev section there is a thread titled cf auto root. Download the zip file there and follow those directions and give it another try.

No my S4 was in camera mode. There are 2 options when I plug my phone in via USB to the PC, either camera mode or media device mode, PTP and MTP respectively. This is how it was set up before I turned the phone off to go into download mode, didn't think it made a difference, but I wanted to give as much info as possible. The phone went through all the downloading stuff on-screen with the red pirate android guy and everything while Odin was downloading to the phone, and Odin also said Added in the message box so I figure Odin recognized the device was present. I'll check out that thread though, thank you:good: I'll be back here if it doesn't rectify the situation.
I see my first problem, stupid tutorial I used the first time said to put Odin in Repartition and F-Reboot. QBKing says only Autoreboot. Man I hate crappily done tutorials.
Just also noticed he mentions the yellow box and com/port number are vital to the success of the root, something I overlooked all 3 times I tried it.
Stuck at the stupid com box again, now it wont change at all and i'm not getting the added message either....
Downloaded the drivers for the phone he gave also and still nothing....tried 3 different USB cables like he suggested too and still stuck.
Think I might need to unroot or delete the other crap I installed before? I'm out of ideas.

ok try this from the beginning
1. reset phone factory reset via recovery ( hold power up - home - and power button ) simultaneously and once you see blue recovery text top left corner let all the buttons go. select factory reset and proceed with reboot.
2. press ##3424# and select pda and make sure you have MTP-ADB selected
3. try rooting your phone via ODIN
PS: if it does not work change step 2 under PDA setting to DM-MODEM-ADB then root and once rooted change it back to step MTP-ADB
let us know if this works for you

It's cool, I ask just in case. While I do consider myself a bright individual, I do not know very much about newer cell phones or android (this is only my 2nd smart phone, before the Photon I had been using my Blackjack without net. That phone lasted forever!) And before the Photon had never modded any cell phone in any way save an extended battery.

Ok so oddly enough, after I performed steps 1 & 2, when I rebooted my phone I notice SuperSU was in my apps list. So for $#*^$ and giggles I downloaded Root checker to test it out and sure enough it says device is rooted. Go figure.
Thanks so much for your help guys, my girlfriend was starting to worry about me out here smashing keys and grunting like an animal trying to get this to work. :highfive:

Thanks for the tip but I already got it rooted. Just took a few more steps than I thought due to some overlooked details with the initial install.

Sorry for joining late, but how are you transferring the file? ADB, SD?

[Q] SM-T530NU - No wifi after root

Hello XDA members,
I seem to have borked something on my new SM-T530NU (GALAXY TAB 4 10.1 WI-FI) when I attempted to root the device (to get rid of all the bloatware).
I followed the instructions I found online (can't insert links yet) and everything seemed to have worked fine (Odin giving me a PASS). Once I got into the OS I noticed I was unable to connect to my WIFI. I reread the instructions and this time noticed my build id was different than the writer's (I have KOT49H.T530NUUEU1AOA2 and he had KOT49H.T530NUUEU1AND4). I checked the CF-Auto-Root Repository and noticed they don't have one for mine
Finally I decided I would download Kies 3 from Samsung and do a Firmware Upgrade and Initialization but that accomplished nothing.
Can anyone help me solve this?
hi, it sounds like you have a mismatch between your kernel and your kernel's modules, instead of an upgrade you may need to do a full reflash of
the current rom version you upgraded from/to i'm guessing ND4 all the way. Alternately you could try one of the repacked stock roms that are available, otherwise you could attempt a custom kernel build so your modules match up , package it and flash it, note that this is not as simple as an odin flash and problem solved. You would need to pack that custom kernel build for recovery flashing instead, meaning the package would have to write the boot.img to it's proper location and the modules to their proper location /system/lib/modules.
check /system/lib/modules on the rom you are running right now and see if wlan.ko is present. If there is a folder in /system/lib/modules named pronto then see if in that directory the modules pronto_wlan.ko exists and if it is symlinked one directory up to wlan.ko
you should always inspect fota's and firmwares before flashing. if you have the firmwares still and/or you managed to capture the upgrade, inspect them to see what was written/overwritten and you'll have an idea of what your issue might be.
also in terminal su and enter the command after toggling wifi on
lsmod
if wlan.ko does not show up, try
modprobe -f /system/lib/modules/wlan.ko
alternately try entering in terminal as su
svc wifi enable

Thanks for the info moonbutt74,
I don't feel comfortable playing with the Kernel / commands (besides I seem to have lost the Super User when I flashed to the latest firmware using Kies3) so I decided to try some old firmware like you recommended (PDA T530NUUEU1AND4 / CSC T530NUXAC1AND4) on sammobile and flashed my device with Odin using the default options. Wifi/bluetooth works now but now I have a new problem; Google Play services keep stopping and giving me errors. I clicked ok a few times and the error is no longer appearing however I can't seem to login to Google (Can't establish a reliable connection to the server) . If I try to access gmail.com from Chrome it tells me something is interfering with your secure connection to gmail.
Any ideas?

Disregard, turns out the time/date was off by a few months and setting it to the current time/date fixed the SSL issue but Google Play Services are going nuts / stopped.

okay cool, sub77 and i both have recoveries available for the sm-t530nu pick whichever,
when a device has a custom recovery available you don't need to go the long way around for root anymore.
search google for supersu update zip
and download and flash the latest version and flash in recovery and your root should be solved.

And a factory reset fixed the Google services but I'm still getting some weird issues with the Play store. I'll do some digging and see what I come up with.
In the mean time, do you have any recommendations on how to proceed to properly root my tablet? I really want to get rid of some of the bloatware on this thing...

hi,
see my previous post, and remember to make the full backup of your rom before debloating attempt.
And after you satisfied whith your results make another full backup of your debloated rom.
keep both versions.

Alright, I'll give it a shot. Thanks alot for all your help!
On a side note, is there a good ROM out there for the Tab 4 ? It seems the support for this device is really slim ... Preferably something based off Lollipop?

Stupid thing ... the tablet decided to update itself and I'm back to square one (wifi not working). Sigh.
What do you recommend? Should I reflash NAD4 and and turn off updates? Or is there a better solution?

ahh okay, you need to install your chosen custom recovery with odin.
read the entire OP [original post].
I have to cut you off here to give you the push you need to make the most
of XDA. Within the tab 4 section you will find full instruction to accomplish
your mission but, you must search for it. That and i have a few projects
in front of me at the moment. Just keep a level/focused head and you'll
get things sorted. :good:

You can't install a custom recovery from stock recovery, I would recommend downloading the img file and installing it with the flashify app from the play store, that's how I got a custom recovery on my tablet and I have the same model as you. As far as Roms, both metallica's cm 11 and sub77's cm12 are great, just depends if you want Kit Kat or lollipop

Lg G Tab 10.1 Vk700 Root Method Confirmed!

This Has been confirmed to work on VzTab May not work when lolipop comes. So i found this on accident and tryed these two methods together to get the end desired result. Root Access! The first thing to adress is if your using windows 7 or 8 its a bitc# to get adb to recognize that your devices is connected. So if this becomes a problem i can find the link i used to address it. So you will download all the required files that go along with this 1st method contained here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3049772
Along with the lg drivers youll need the tablet to install the verizon software upgrade assistant too.
Fallow all of the processes until you reach the download mode. I could not figure out how to manually push buttons to make it into download mode so use this next link and run all the procedures till its in download mode.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951
Now you have the desired screen fallow the rest of the instructions from the first tut. Then press and hold power and volume buttons to reset. Since you cant take battery out or command it to reset. The Downloader will indicate 0% still so dont think it failed if it doesnt say 100%.
and too root the lollipop update download the files off rootjunkys site awesome work lol yes it was originally for the note 4 but shush it works
install kingroot (yes its in chinese dont worry we will be installing supersu very soon)
make sure adb is working and usb debugging is enabled which if you are on here i safely assume you are
extract the supersume zip (1 or 2 i couldnt see a diff)
and run the superme bat file (it will walk you through it )
itll soft reboot when done and you are solid and it will hold root
yes the bat will say disableing knox again it was for the note 4 but works fine ive done this
link to get files : http://rootjunkysdl.com/?device=Gala...=Kitkat Root
I don't have this tablet but replacing kinguser with supersu should be doable on this tablet as well (I did it on my forge tv)
http://www.w0lfdroid.com/2015/05/How-to-Remove-Replace-KingUser-KingRoot-with-SuperSU.html
all you do is install terminal emulator and copy files and run the command.
So now i cant upgrade to lolipop im guessing due to the fact it knows its modified now it will give error at 1% anyone have the factory image and how would i go about recoving it to stock image would i need cwm recovery to accomplish this? I really just want to upgrade so maybe the bluetooth stack has been fixed so i can use my wii mote to play games.

Thanks for the timely post of this.
Don't know if it's something on my end but the link gives 'access denied', fortunately you had said it was for a note4 so I just looked for that and came up with the right files, just thought you might want to know.
One minor hiccup, and I'm not sure where to post it, so I'll post it here: SuperSu took 5 tries, finally got success, but now it keeps wanting to update the su binary again, it's definitely rooted, and the binary's already updated so...[shrugs]. The app said if there were any problems with it to post it to xda, soooo, here it is, sorry if this is the wrong place to put it.
Other than that tho, it worked great, thanks again!

not that i know of the device is still pretty new
I found this method incredibly easy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951
I just had to put it on PTP instead of MTP. And after the reboot, I had to manually boot it on download mode (following the software's directions).
It's working flawlessly.

Dear
The method of using "supersume", doesn't work surely. I tried it personally.
And the other link u provided is for replacing kingroot with supersu only.
I made this thread for people to get the whole procedure at the same place, no need to Google more.
Hope you understand ?
And ur question is really appreciated ?
Sent from my C6603 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Doesn't work for me. Did everything exactly like you said, but trying to update supersu binaries didnt work.
I then rebooted and got a soft brick until I wipe dalvik and cache from recovery.

Bro now tell me, is that problem still exists.
If yes.
U can just flash system using Twrp backup.
And then follow the procedure again but with a new version of kingroot.
Bro this method is personally used by myself, and always works for me. You can check the images.zip file. That is my own phone.
No fake things, my only motive.
????
What do you mean does it still exist. I literally just tried it yesterday.
I used the newest version of Kingroot and still that happened, but then again I dont use stock rom so that is probably interfering with it.
I probably just stick with Kingroot, it doesnt seem so bad.

A500 in 2020 ; Root, Bootloader, Custom ROM - LINKS WORKING

Greetings,
I wrote this tutorial to help all the people strugling with their A500 , to unlock the bootloader , install custom ROM and root it since I've finaly managed mine to work as I wanted it to. All the links / threads that I've posted are active and DL links are working.
Note : Below is going to be text in italic , just to show what I've been through and tried at the begining of my post , seeking for help , before I managed it to work for me at the end.
Before you start linking and re-directing me to other threads, I have read many threads on here that have instructions etc... but the problem is that 80% of the links from stock rom's , flashers , recovery's don't work because most of those links were created in 2012,2013.
What have I tried :
- rooting via ICS_rooting_A10x_A5xx thread ; couldn't get full root
- installing stock OS from Acer's website via SD card to get recovery menu back ; unsuccessful
- Acer Iconia A500 Tools by blackthund3r ; It only detects A500 in APX mode , but it says install driver's which I already have.
Currently running : ICS 4.0.3 with corrupted recovery menu and unsuccessful root
I would be very happy if anyone could help me and firstly return my A500 to full stock (full wipe via recovery menu), and from there start the procedure of rooting , unlocking bootloader etc... and supply me with working links to tools, roms and flashers. Everything step by step.
Thank you very much for help in advance.
Best regards,
Domitri from Slovenia :fingers-crossed:
Update - Bootloader ; OLD FINDING
I got to a point where I realised that my bootloader is locked. I've tried unlocking it via fastboot commands from the following thread : forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514951
I tried : " fastboot oem unlock" and "flashing unlock_critical" but 0 result, I ended up getting a small red text error on my tablet and I would have to start all over. I typed "fastboot oem lock" just for my interest to see what would come up and I got this , just like in the original thread : "Fastboot: Device is already locked! Abort ..."
I am going to try and unlock the bootloader via some run.bat option from APX mode ; I forgot where I found it (going through too many posts , going to post afterwards).
Note : Everything that I try, and if it work's for me, will be uploaded to my dropbox and will post a link with detailed instructions on how to do it, just bare with me please
Its hard to find working files / DL links for this tablet from other threads because everything is from 2012,2013 mostly.
START OF THE TUTORIAL
Note : Before doing anything , if you tried unlocking the bootloader and rooting and it was unsuccessful, I suggest you reinstall the OS via update.zip from SD card in recovery menu, so you have a fresh start and also install the drivers that I have provided, that way my steps and procedures will work 100%.Be sure to scroll down to the end of the thread to check for any new updates. If you have any questions or you ran upon a problem, feel free to message me or comment

USB drivers : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/6lx3uxwhj5zxbbm/AAAbhxcPTNSFX7Z0A3t3z93Pa?dl=0
In the drivers folder in dropbox you have 2 installers for ADB, if one doesn't work for you you can try the other one. "UniversalADBDriverSetup" worked for me.
In the folder you also have 2 APX drivers , one is from Nvidia and other is Universal Naked Driver 0.73. Universal Naked Driver worked for me.
You update the APX drivers via device manager.
optional Android Multi Tool : https://www.dropbox.com/s/s7ypank8oijwwry/Android_Multi_tool.zip?dl=0
In the MultiTool folder you can SHIFT + RIGHT CLICK and open a Powershell command window , and then write "adb devices" to check if you installed ADB drivers properly. If you did , you should see your device serial number pop up.
Make sure you have enabled USB Debugging in settings under Developer settings on your A500 !
How to bypass driver signature enforcement in Win10 : https://www.windowsreport.com/driver-signature-enforcement-windows-10/ - needed for updating the APX driver
or in other words, how to forcebly install drivers when windows doesn't allow you to install them.
STOCK OS 4.0.3 ICS : https://dropbox.com/s/djblya5kol2cp4a/A500-Stock.zip?dl=0 thanks to KaijiKun
Rename the zip to update.zip and apply update from sd card in recovery menu. If you have a corrupted recovery menu like I had, this is what you do :
Press the volume down button (the one closer to the power button to the edge)
Press the power button for 2-3 seconds and let go
Keep holding volume down button until small white text pops up in top left corner of the screen.
This procedure will also get you into recovery menu (if you have a working one)
1. BOOTLOADER
Before you start unlocking the bootloader , you will need to get your CPU ID which we later convert to SBK needed for flashing the bootloader.
I have managed to obtain CPU ID number by the following steps :
Install File Manager+ on A500 (or any other file manager) ; link to File Manager+ : play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alphainventor.filemanager&hl=en
Make sure you have ticked to see hidden items in settings
Go to : System /sys/firmware/fuse/acer_cpuid and open as text with HTML Viewer (best option)
OR
With File Manager+ navigate to System /mnt/external_sd/dmesg.txt
Long press on the dmesg.txt file and share it / send it to yourself via mail
Open the file on your PC and CTRL + F (find) the word "androidboot.serialno" , that is your CPU ID.
That 15char number is your CPU ID (example : 37c7084407fb2d7) which you can convert to SBK number with SBCalc.
You should get something like this at the end : 0x16796E00 0x88991201 0x67D0F603 0xC2DD2003
Sometimes there might be a 0 infront of your CPU ID , just delete it.
Note : Copying my CPU ID / SBK will not work , every tablet has It's own unique one.
SBCalc : https://dropbox.com/s/g4ay6hfvym1jxwy/SBCalc.zip?dl=0 thanks to Vache
originaly from this thread : https://www.forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810618
Now when you extracted and got your CPU ID and SBK , we can start with flashing the bootloader.
Nvflash tool : https://dropbox.com/s/jecamd2w91nx3k7/A500-Bootloader-Nvflash.zip?dl=0 thanks to KaijiKun
Extract everything to a new folder on your desktop
Replace the recovery image(recovery.img) inside the nvflash folder with this one : https://dropbox.com/s/0gd9jhi8ufzhpbc/update-recovery-TWRP-rev2.0-beta4.zip?dl=0
Inside the folder you will see a HowTo text file , open it and just follow the instructions.
After you ran A501 A.bat , power off your tablet , and go to recovery mode - Volume down + power button then release power button after 3 seconds while still holding volume down. If it doesn't go directly to recovery menu by TWRP , select "BOOT RECOVERY" from the green menu
Follow the instructions from HowTo.txt to wipe the system
Power off your tablet , unplug the USB cable and put it in APX mode again. When in APX mode, reconnect the USB cable
Run A501 B.bat and enter your SBK again
When everything is completed both when runing A and B bat file you should get "PASS" written on your screen , dont mind if you get any small red text below that.
2. INSTALLING CUSTOM ROM
Now after we unlocked our bootloader and installed TWRP custom recovery, It's time to install our CUSTOM OS / ROM.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/iconia-a500/general/2018-a500-upgrade-threaddownloads-to-t3832293 thanks to Turnert for the post and Thor2002ro for the ROMs
In this thread linked above you cant find 4 different ROMs , for me every single one booted, but I couldnt get gApps (Google Play and Google Play Services) to work with any of them , Google Play surely will open, but when you will try to download anything it will pop up an error.
If gApps dont work on custom ROM , you can still download and install APK's from the browser and use them normaly.
The only ROM that worked for me the best and most stable with working gApps is Tegraowners 4.4.4 : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/lv2u88kjnzajcb5/AACW8iKYARd-zHgK9_w4DDgCa?dl=0
In the link above you will find both the ROM and working gApps.
You download the rar file of your chosen ROM
Copy the zip file / files to your SD card
Boot your tablet into recovery mode. From the recovery menu hit Install and then navigate to external_sd folder.
Click on the zip file in the folder / SD card and swipe to begin installation
Go through installation
After the installation of the ROM , install / flash gApps
READ THE TUTORIAL BELOW ABOUT FLASHING ROOT - SUPER SU BEFORE EXITING RECOVERY
If the installation of the 3 things was successful you should boot into your custom OS
Note : The first startup always takes alot longer - several minutes , after the first boot, the booting time will be alot faster
3. ROOT - FOR CUSTOM ROM
Download SuperSU version 2.82 from the following link : https://download.chainfire.eu/1220/SuperSU/ thanks to Chainfire
Install it in TWRP custom recovery after you've installed your custom ROM and gApps.
4. ROOT - FOR 4.0.3 ICS USERS ONLY
Blackthund3r tools : dropbox.com/s/58g5v2x0lwg8mab/Acer Iconia A500 Tools by blackthund3r.rar? thanks to Blackthund3r
I have somehow managed to root my A500 with ICS Root 7.2.0 tool , altho it was saying in bottom left corner that there is no A500 connected with debugging. I went and give'd it a shot without knowing it's gonna work , and my tablet restarted and I was suprised, checked root with 3 checkers, and looks like it is done.
Leave everything as it is ticked , only the last 2 items should be unticked - "Disable AcerNidus" and "Don't reboot after installation"
Note : Even if your tool says "No A500 with USB Debugging Detected!" , ignore that and hit "DO IT" button, it works anyway !
If your root was successful , your tablet should reboot about 2-3min after hitting "DO IT" button and instead of "DO IT" you should see "DONE"
Check your root with Root Checker Basic : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck
Because there is a older version of SuperSU installed, and you cannot update the binary when you open up the app on A500 , you need to download and install a newer version by yourself.
SuperSU 2.82 https://androidapksfree.com/supersu/eu-chainfire-supersu/ thanks to Chainfire
Download the APK from your browser on A500 , and install it. You will be prompted that this will replace an existing app - hit ok.
Note : Be sure you have ticked "Unknown sources" in settings under security tab !
When you have installed the APK, open it up. It will prompt you "The SU binary needs to be updated. Continue?" ,hit continue and choose "Normal" installation of the binary.
I hope I helped you with this tutorial, but if it happens that you're stuck somewhere, just send me a private message and I will be happy to solve the problem with you.

I noticed after using my tablet on IconiaHD ROM that gApps stopped working , and I'm getting error at all times that google play services stoped working and it's annoying because you can't use your screen at all because it's poping up all the damm time.
I tried and flashed my A500 with this ROM - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1520299 Lightspeed 4.8 The download link for the zip file from google drive is still working, so there shouldn't be any problems with downloading the rom.
Next thing I did, I read that it works best with custom kernel from @ezterry from the following link - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703590 (download link still working inside the thread - ezT20-v1.0.1-a500_S.zip ! )
With this kernel you can overclock your tablet to work smooth , I'd say min and max value to 1408mhz or 1504mhz. Flash your tablet with kernel from your SD card after instaling Lightspeed 4.8 ROM.
I've also read that for all the outdated apps in google play, there is a little trick with the following app - https://www.dropbox.com/s/4t29ux4h20u60do/market-helper-2.0.4.apk?dl=0
It's called market helper and what it does, It shows your A500 to google play like Samsung Galaxy S8 or something similar which can run most of the apps on the market , and with that you shouldnt have any problems with ICS being too old for some apps.

I've been testing all the ROMs I managed to find for A500, and the one working the best, being the most stable and having useful / non-crashing gApps is Tegraowners 4.4.4.
ROM and gApps : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/lv2u88kjnzajcb5/AACW8iKYARd-zHgK9_w4DDgCa?dl=0
Flash the 2 items from the folder with procedure I have written above in the tutorial section. I also updated the tutorial and replaced old download links with working rom link. THERE IS NO NEED TO FLASH AFTERWARDS WITH EZTERRY'S ROM !
The ROM is working perfectly when overclocked to 1504mhz settings. No need to be afraid that you will burn your tablet CPU, I have tested it , and I've also read in other threads that some users OC to 1646mhz. When OC'ed its very fast, snappy , no lag or anything.
If I will experience any problems with this ROM I will post about it / post a fix if I will find any.
Note : The market helper apk from previous (upper) update is showing up in Google Play devices when you set it up, but it isn't installing apps when you select install , so that a no go

A way to stop Google Play Store from getting auto-updated / corrupt. When you download a newer app that might be downloadable to the tablet , it auto updates Google Play Store to the newest one in the background because the app itself needs those requirements so it can run. When it updates, it's corrupted because it doesn't match with gApps (services) version number.
If your Google Play Store updated already by itself, go to : Settings > Apps > Downloaded (first thing that will open) > Google Play Store > Uninstall Updates and Replace with factory version
Turn off your wifi
Open up terminal emulator
In the terminal type :
Su (then grant access if asked by SuperSU)
Type in : touch /data/app/com.android.vending-1.apk
After that type in : chattr +i /data/app/com.android.vending-1.apk
That should prevent Google Play Store from auto updating and being unuseful
I've also found a link for Chromium , optimized for Tegra devices (which A500 is) : https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...t/app-chromium-m56-optimized-tegra-2-t3550210
When you will install everything, turn off auto updates in google play, because if you update the GPS app , after the update you will be getting an error every second on the screen saying "GPS is not responding / has stopped working" , and tablet will be pretty much unusable.

I am struggling for days trying to root/update a500 with 4.03 installed. I am going through the same pain as you had with so many dead ends. I will try your recommendations in your tutorial in the next few days. Hoping it will work for me too.

Everything worked perfectly fine. My a500 is finally rooted and running a custom rom. Your instructions were so clear and easy to follow. I can't thank you enough for this tutorial and all software/drivers/tools that you provided. I spent days trying to find working links for some of those tools.
Domi, hats off to you.

Greetings !
Im glad I was able to help you with my tutorial. Yeah at first I was looking like crazy around for drivers and working tools , and when I figured out its not easy to find all this stuff, I decided to put up a tutorial and upload everything to my dropbox, which will always be available to download.
Best regards,
Domitri
You can use magisk with the a500.
The only stipulation is that it cannot flash the boot image and you have to manually patch it (via the magisk app itself) and flash it via computer (there doesnt seem to be any on device flasher that ive found. flashify and flashfire do not work). It's a good idea to have the rom's boot image on your device so that you can easily patch in magisk when there's an update, and the patched file should be in the Downloads folder.

Hey ! Have you installed all the drivers that I provided in my tutorial ? They are key for the whole tutorial to be working properly. Sometimes in apx mode, my PC also doesn't recognize the device, but you must keep proceeding with steps , because they will work. Dont mind your windows not recognizing your tablet, it will do that 70% of the time.
hello, thanks to your guide I took this tablet again. one thing is not clear to me, how do i install compatible apps?

For Spotify I think you just have to install an older version. Probably at least a year back.

Most apps don't work because this tablet does not support something called neon I don't know exactly what it is but it seems to cause a lot of the combatiblity problems with this tablet also the tablet is 9 years old so you just kind of have to expect things not to work.

Search on www.apkmirror.com for Spotify or just type into google Spotify apk 4.4.4 and I'm sure you'll find it

That's wierd, most of my apps work normally and I didn't change anything special. I just dont update the GPS app because it ****s it up afterwards and you'll be getting error messages about GPS not responding / stopped working like every second.
just passing by and want to thank you for this great post.
I had an idea, it would be nice to list the apk version numbers that works on our tablets, i mean Spotify version number 4.4.4 and so on with another ones.
Again, thank you !!!!

Thanks for the compliment. Basicly there is no need to do that since everyone needs differend apps and its very easy to find it on apkmirror's site , I belive that it is compatible from 4.0 to 5.0 my guess, but the best way is to stick with 4.4.4 versions of APKs.
