Post your battery life/stats - Moto G 2015 General

Hello, post your battery.stats
Help grow this thread by sharing your battery stats:
1) On battery time
2) Screen on time
3) Usage patterns
4) ROM/Root tweaks (if any)
P.S. - Make sure you vote in the poll to give other prospective buyers an idea of how the user experience has been with battery life.

Here's my first battery cycle.
5hrs 20mins SOT with 20% to spare.
Mixed usage. A few light games, lots of Facebook, Whatsapp, Snapchat, Instagram, XDA. Includes a lot of installing of apps on a slow WiFi network. Very pleased

I don't know about 0 to 100, but 29% to 100% took mine about 2 hours. That's with the included charger in the box.

If you didn't turn off 4g or didn't turn on airplaine mode, your battery will go down in a few hours

i don't use LTE. Only 3g. I was on wifi for those 8hrs. I understand that if I don't turn airplane mode on the battery will go down, but should it go down so much without any screen on time?

I lost 4% overnight with 4G and Wifi turned on. Something else must be eating your battery.

I don't have Wi-Fi in my home, so I surf on internet only with 4g and at night I always turn off my phone, because the battery drain is caused also for inactive process like "Facebook" or "Instagram". So, if you want to leave your phone turned on, kill all before sleep

Hi, it must be an app keeping the phone awake too much. Root the phone and install wakelock detector to see what's causing it. Its not WiFi or LTE that would be the cause alone unless you have the weakest signal known to man.

550 mAh here too... really low considering the battery.

I know you don't know me, but I've used your AICP ROM on my 1st gen G. So you made the jump to the 3rd gen? Good. I don't have it yet, but will be getting it and in the mean time I'm watching these forums. Good to see you're over here and I'm sure others will be as well, from the 1st gen.

will do that as soon as i get some time

Rooted and flashed xposed, then installed Amplify and Greenify. Battery life has been stellar. I'm getting north of 5 hours screen on time with navigation, bluetooth music streaming, and watching videos.
I have the 1GB version.

Is yours 1GB/8GB version? Mine is 2GB/16GB and output is 1150mA. Essentially it is the same charger that came with Moto X (2014).

quick battery drain

i was at 55% at about 5pm yesterday after 10+ hours of battery usage, 1.5hrs of screen, and probably 2 hours of LTE (the rest wifi). i use juice defender so when the screen is off it generally cuts data signals for me. well from 5pm to 9pm my battery went from 55% to 1% with maybe less than 30 minutes of usage (all on LTE though). i looked and no unwanted programs were running in the background.
i charged it overnight, got up and after an hour this morning of ALL standby (seriously the screen was on 3m), i went from 100% to 87%. that would mean on 100% standby the phone would have died within 8 hours, which is definitely not right or even similar to previous battery usage for me.
i restarted my phone, recharged, and so far it has been on for 40 minutes and the battery is at 99% with 2m of screen time, which makes a lot more sense. so have you ever experienced something like this where an android OS restart helps your battery, or does it sound like i might have a bad battery?

Install Carat, it will tell you exactly what is draining your battery. I'm guessing something something is syncing in the backgruond and killing your battery.

Lots of people are having an issue similar to this with ATT. Is your ATT?
i am in fact ATT. sorry i haven't seen the other posts about it, have they broken through to figure out the root of the problem? any link to a thread about this? it's very, very odd. 8 hours of battery life is no good, too.

I seem to get it when I am in a poor LTE coverage area, which includes one of my offices. It is strange. "Cell Standby" will usually have the largest battery usage in your settings. My temporary fix is to turn off "mobile data" from the toggle in notifications, especially if you have wifi where you are. You can usually tell when the battery is being drained b/c your phone will stay warm even with no apps running and the screen off. The only other thing that seems to help is restarting it every day or so. When I don't have this problem, the battery life on this phone is amazing, so I don't think it's a bad battery. If you find out a better solution, please let me know!
I'm assuming you get off work at 5 and use the phone more. If so, turn off juice defender when you leave work. Since juice defender turns off your signal, you have to reconnect every time you use the phone. That kills battery more than anything

I would agree with your deduction. Cell standby is a battery hog. I use Wifi when I am at work and home. and HSPA+ everywhere in between. (No LTE in NH)

Doesnt that defeat the purpose of having JD? Has anyone shown than JD uses more battery than not having it at all?
Fyi cell standby doesnt actually use as much battery as it reports, its just incorrectly displayed on the battery meter. Hopefully there will be an update to fix it eventually. Google it if you want to fix it manually.

I wonder if this is a common issue with other phones. My Dinc shows more than 35% stand by most of the time.

Cell standby is just a reporting bug. It is not actually draining your phone as much as it shows.
There are two separate problems. There is the problem on the international S3's where it is reporting cell standby incorrectly. There is another problem with some of the ATT S3's where they are continually connecting or re-connecting to the network where they have a poor LTE signal. This is actually using the battery. You can feel the heat from your phone when you have no apps open and it is normally cool to the touch. The only solution I have found so far is to turn off mobile data, and the phone will cool down again and stop draining battery.

I disabled some of my ATT apps yesterday. I'm hoping that may have something to do with this issue, but I am in a location with a better signal today, so I don't know yet if that helped.

Right. It's just cosmetic.
I don't have LTE in my area and my battery life is okay. I use wifi at my house and at work. I just think it could be better, but i am used to my dinc with my custom rom and kernel. Amazing battery life. I can't wait until we get some sweet roms and kernels for the S3. So far i am super impressed with the phone.

i think you guys are right. the only thing that fixed my problem was restarting, which obviously also turned off/on the mobile data. how would you do that normally? just hit airplane mode and then turn it back on?
do you guys think this is a bug with AT&T that will be fixed?

This isn't a problem that too many people are having, but there are enough that it must be a bug, at least for ATT. There is a toggle in your notifications that will turn off mobile data. I don't think it is enough to just turn it off and back on. If you are in an area with bad reception, you have to leave it off or the draining continues. If you find something else that works, please share with us.

I'm also seeing this issue; battery gets hot and drains quick in sleep.
I'm running stock, and only rooted.
I do notice when checking my battery that "Android System" is taking up the majority of my battery, by a considerable amount. Is anyone else who is experiencing the drain issue also seeing this under their battery reporting menu?

What just happened? Extreme battery drain of 30% over night

Hi. Could some one tell me whag just happened? Before bed i charged my phone to 100%. I went to sleep and I wake up with 69% left. I just went on boom beach for a minute and on Internet to write this post and its already fallen to 66%...
I have screenshoted the info from samsung settings battery stats and from Gsambattery.
Btw usually i get about 4.5-5.5 hrs of SoT sometime even 6 amd sometime only 4. And this past few days ive been a little bit outside of the city centre and its a very low signal here. Like one bar as you can see. But 1 bar of signal cannot drain my battery for 31% during night or what? And i have AOD disabled from 00.00 - 6.00 and dont have night watch disabled. And druing sleep i only had wifi on. And i have been out of city center for 3 days now and i cant remember this happening on day 1 or day 2

I am not the op, and if you see the cell standby has drained less than 100mah which should be like 300 or more to drain 36% of battery
So anyways... Any suggestions? Should i maybe restart the phone? This happened for the first time now. I will see how its tonight. But i also think this isnt normal. 31% overnight... I just hope it was/is something with software or maybe an app or something. I hope it not a broken battery. Although i dont know how one day it works okay and next day its broken, but oh well.
i have also been having this same issue. overnight the battery curve is normally almost flat an now the past 2 nights I wake in the morning almost dead and when I check the graph its as if im using the phone and with very heavy usage at that. I was wondering if it was a rouge app but after looking at it no app was using power. I'll send some pictures at some later time today when I get a chance. I have a 935T by the way.

It happend to me too, not 31% overnight but something like 8-10%. What i did to solve it: went to location/improve accuracy and i disabled wifi always scanning and now it`s 2-3% over 8 hours with wifi on. Also i have 2 bars on LTE at home. 935F here.

Well i have location turned off all the time. I only turn it on when i need it.
This last 2 days have been ok. There wasnt that much drain overnight. I wasnt really checking how much it drained (i found that it usually drains me about 4-6% overnight, AOD off, all else off) i was just checking if it would be a really high drain like that 31% one. But it wasnt since the one i posted here so idk what caused that...
I do remember something else odd tho. Last week when i was charging my phone overnight i remember waking up in the middle of the night and it was really hot. I left it charging till morning and it was still quite hot, idk why.
And sth else also, my cat chewed my cable yestrday so i had to buy a new cable for charhing. I bought puro cable, 2m long, fast charge technology. And i think my phone now charges more slowly. I am not sure but i just think. It said it will charge 2hrs and 15min from 23%-100%. I dont remember if it was the same with old, original samsung cable or if that one was faster. And when i said i charged it overnight and when saying about how long it estimated the charge time i am talking about normal charhing and NOT about fast charging. I only fast charge when in a hurry. But anywaya i thought to post these things if it maybe has anything to do with anything at all.
Gotta lay off those late night videos.

Standby drain

When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the Nokia 8's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Hehehe I can spot someone who cares for his battery just by looking at the graph ☺ avoiding a full charge puts less stress on the battery... I think the battery would be even happier spending the night at 50%

Definitely a pattern here. Battery very consistent with best SOT I've experienced. Nokia has nailed it in this respect from a relatively small battery

Wow! Nine hours and it didn't drop a single percentage? What a quality doze
I suspect it was a one off, it would be nice if it did it all the time that's for sure.
Have had my phone 5 days - 4 nights.
1st night was 0% loss - but past 3 nights has been 3-4% overnight in Aeroplane mode.
So I guess some apps I installed since are doing something or trying to do something overnight.

My phone is fully stock and not tampered with in anyway.
Being in Airplane mode only turns off the radios, it doesn't stop the phone from doing things.

Spoke too soon. Saw another 0% drain last night...
Only difference I can think of is that earlier in the day I had disabled 'Push' on my corporate email client 'TouchDown' and set to never sync.
But the weird thing it that the push/sync was only ever scheduled for office hours. So, unless it has been doing something behind the scenes - it does not make sense that it was using 3-4% every night..Pretty sure it did not show up in the usage breakdown figures.
Will check again tonight.
I remember that my Z1Compact used to get away with 0-1% overnight and even my Z3C in the early days - until an Android version upgrade removed the Sony battery optimisation feature.
Update: Another night of 0% drain!
I got the phone on Saturday, and in two nights I'm losing 2-3% in 7-8 hours. I guess this shouldn't happen since my old Galaxy s5 on 7.1.1 had 0% drain. Also today at work battery drained 2-3% while doing nothing on the phone the whole day.
Anyone else with the similar problem?
Has anyone spotted that after Oreo update battery life improved? I managed to get two days out of it with Location/Data on all the time using maps almost all the time pretty impressive.
Hi! If you're only using mobile data (4G/LTE) for internet access the whole time, how much SOT are you having while doing some chats and Facebook?

s10 plus Battery draining

Ehy everyone, for some reason it feels to me that my battery life on my s10 plus sucks.
I got it 2 weeks ago.
I did a test and charged up to 100%, went to sleep with 100% and woke up with 93% battery..
In addition to that, my previous phone Galaxy a7 2017, could hold on 100% like 5 minutes even when using the phone, my s10 plus goes from 100 to 96 in like few mintues..
I added a screenshot from my battery usage
And cpu usage
Oh and btw, ive read about the Voip battery drain but i dont do any whatsapp calls or such..
Any help?
I put mine on airplane mode at 50% before bed wake up its 49% , I've found I get better battery life from quick hrs or so charge rather than charging through the night , also it learns your charging habits apparently , but that's a big drain poss a app is root cause do you put on airplane mode at night ?

My phone used to be the same way, I disabled the auto optimization, that seemed to do the trick. Go to device care and hit the three settings buttons and turn it off. Huge difference.

Guys please follow this guide

Your phone should work like a charm, those devices should behave a certain way, either it is a bug or something you might be doing wrong or an app setting coming from a backup restoration.
It is a voip call, google a little. I had deep sleep for 7 days, yesterday i made a call, and since then phone didnt go to deep sleepz so i restarted it and now it is as before... It is fixed in march update. Buying a phone that costs 1000+ $ and turning 50% of options off is ridiculous.

Any help?

Mine was poor but after 5 days did pick up. Had to change some settings. However, I can't put a picture on as says this feature has been disabled by your administrator. Xda app
Sent from my SM-G975F using XDA-Developers Legacy app
The latest firmware update solve the VoIP CPU-lock issue. But i am still experiencing mild battery drain, when i sleep with 100% batt, i closed all apps and cleared them from the ram and still get 93% when i wake up after 8hours of idle time. No idea how to solve this, checked the CPU its on "sleep/idle" mode the entire 8hours but somehow -7% battery.
I turned off VoIP, location and put the phone to medium power saving mode. It got better.
Edit: I am not having any performance issues with medium battery saving. %70 brightness, limited CPU, FHD screen resolution.

March update had significantly improved battery life

Guys how is the update treating you? I really am enjoying this update and i can see about 30-45 mins improvement in battery life. Would love to know your thoughts!
hi.
my pixel updated yesterday.
i will check it today.
can you post your sot ?

Hi sorry i didn't take it but i am getting around 6h 45mins+ and i only used to get 5h 45mins before on the same usage pattern.
Also before i was using dark mode all the time and now i am using scheduled dark mode. So i believe i can squeeze in 15-20 mins more if i use dark mode only. This is great. I think they updated the pixel 4 first as users reported improvement in battery life in Jan or Feb.
My battery is at 90% health, so that is really gre8 seeing it boosted by an hour.

Yeah i got the battery health from accubattery. I think you should definitely see an increase with this update. let me know once you test the battery

yeah, of course.
Indeed man. I am losing 1 percent overnight (7 hours deep sleep).
nothing change for me.
losing 3-4 % night (8 hour)
I think battery has worsened, but the animations are much much smoother. Especially the home gesture animation
When I say worsened, it went from 6h to 5.5h. Still a beast.
I always lose 7% over 7-9 hours, the wifi draining problems persist
Im getting anywhere between 6 to 8 hours sot. Depending what usage I've put the device through. But I do think dark mode really helps a lot on this device.
I agree. Look at that straight line last night overnight! That's beautiful!

That must be because of WiFi scanning options being turned on or something. If you investigate properly you will get better stand by time

Can you post screenshots of the drain? It could be any app you've misbehaving or some services updating itself at night when your phone is ideal and connected to WiFi

These are the screenshots, the only thing that seems weird is the photos app, but in the past i have disabled it, and the wifi drain still happened.

The photos app does look suspicious, maybe you can check the settings for uploading or backing up your photos.
