Hi sorry i didn't take it but i am getting around 6h 45mins+ and i only used to get 5h 45mins before on the same usage pattern.
Also before i was using dark mode all the time and now i am using scheduled dark mode. So i believe i can squeeze in 15-20 mins more if i use dark mode only. This is great. I think they updated the pixel 4 first as users reported improvement in battery life in Jan or Feb.
My battery is at 90% health, so that is really gre8 seeing it boosted by an hour.

yeah, of course.

Indeed man. I am losing 1 percent overnight (7 hours deep sleep).

nothing change for me.
losing 3-4 % night (8 hour)

I think battery has worsened, but the animations are much much smoother. Especially the home gesture animation
When I say worsened, it went from 6h to 5.5h. Still a beast.

I always lose 7% over 7-9 hours, the wifi draining problems persist

Im getting anywhere between 6 to 8 hours sot. Depending what usage I've put the device through. But I do think dark mode really helps a lot on this device.

I agree. Look at that straight line last night overnight! That's beautiful!

That must be because of WiFi scanning options being turned on or something. If you investigate properly you will get better stand by time

Can you post screenshots of the drain? It could be any app you've misbehaving or some services updating itself at night when your phone is ideal and connected to WiFi

These are the screenshots, the only thing that seems weird is the photos app, but in the past i have disabled it, and the wifi drain still happened.

Will do the same today disabling it, my honor 8, had only 0.1%/h and had the same apps, but will try it again tonight

I think my battery use has gotten a bit better. I used to get about 5hrs SOT..... Not I get about 5.5hrs. battery health @89% with moderate to heavy use

I logged the battery usage this night and in just seven hours of sleep it dropped from 63%-53%. That is absolutely unacceptable and far from the 0-1% people were talking around early release. The endurance tests that say 7-8 hours of webbrowsing or 9 hours of video playback are far from the results I'm getting. I rarely get over 3½ hrs of screen on time. I know 3g was on, but with only Email allowed to sync I don't understand how it can drain so badly.

There's probably some rogue app sucking all your battery. Use an app like BetterBatteryStats to get a better idea of what the cause might be. That amount of battery drain definitely isn't normal.

There doesn't seem to be any problem. None of those wakelocks was long enough to be considered a real problem. This is weird. But as for fast dormancy, you can disable it. But I have no idea how to on the S4. You'll have to search for that. There was an app for the S3 that you could try on the S4. No guarantee it'll work though.

If the wakelocks anren't the issue then what is? This is really frustrating. I googled around for hours about the dormancy-thing, but I found no hits for the S4. The S3 app doesn't work for the S4. Regrettings buying this phone after all the trouble with the laggy interface, the laggy menus, the horrendous low light smearing and now poor battery life.
Hope someone can help solve this battery issue at least.

Don't know what to tell you. Maybe you should try flashing a new firmware?

Finally achieved awesome standby time!

I've just jumped ship to the LG G4 after I was getting annoyed with my s6 battery. I hated the fact that for it to be vaguely good, you had to disable pretty much everything!
I've just been doing a little tweaking on my new G4 and I let it sit with all my normal apps installed to test standby. I just got to 8 hours 44minutes before the battery dropped to 99%. ( I was playing with it since the 8 1/2 hour mark).
How? I installed Greenify and Amplify.
ROM: S3V3N's rom v 6.0
Greenified:
Facebook ( Wake up path cut off)
Facebook messenger ( wake up path cut off)
My EE
One drive
Onenote
Facebook is known to be a big drain, but I use it and don't like to fully disable it. With these settings I still get Facebook notifications!
I still receive gmail etc too. It all seems to work as it should, but doesn't drain for no reason!
The typical LG (G3/G4) slow-drop-from-100-percent "issue".
G4 has it (using a proper setup), G3 has it. It says *nothing* :good:
Case in point, very old G3 pic (8 months ago or so):
https://www.dropbox.com/s/k6aanjf6bgcpygj/BFE6123FCFDA_LG G3_2_PORTRAIT.png?dl=0
Once the battery drops to 99, the "real" drain starts
Ahaaa thats not how it works. Keep using the phone till you get to 10% and then compare to the s6. You will notice s6 has better battery life.

I've never understood why people try to get every possible second out of the battery. They disable half the functions of the phone just to get a better battery graph. I prefer to enable everything and use the phone as it was designed for. Otherwise, you may as well just buy a basic Nokia.

Great job. I like to keep most features on but I don't want to be a data generator for Google.
I also limit RILJ and WiFiOffdelayifNotUsed in Amplify
Greenify: nope.
Amplify: nope.
Amazing (meaningless) 100%-99% drain? Of course.
Having a flat line for 8 hours when battery for example is at 25%, okay, yes then I'll be amazed. But from 100 to 99? Nope. Typical LG issue.
Im at 88% after 47 minutes screen time and 20hours 15 mins on battery. With only 2 bars of mobile signal.
Id say that's pretty damn good considering i haven't had to disable any features on the phone!
My S6 was nowhere near as good.

Gsam says it was plugged in 11hours ago. It wasnt! That was when gsam was installed
And before anyone says 'you havent used your phone' that is the point of this test!
You cant expect a phone to last long when you're using it if it doesnt last long when you're not using it!
i get amazing battery life just by disabling Google location services and Google Now... ever since i did that, my battery life rivals my old iPhone 6 Plus in stand-by mode, i usually get a 3-5% battery drain while asleep at night (7-8 hours)

I'd say that your test is completely pointless. You're just testing the battery consumption of a brick in your pocket!
How realistic is it to carry around a smartphone that you don't use at all for >2 days.
In my view it's just a big waste of time what you're doing there...

Not really, because before the tweaks, the standby drain was much bigger.
Lower standby drain = more screen time, so now I know it drains less in standby I should get better battery life in ' normal' usage and more screen time.
A pointless test is person X saying " My battery life is awful" and not stating which apps they have installed and what their mobile signal is like.

Awful battery life... Any solutions?

I got my 64gb 6P yesterday and since then have only been getting 3.5 Hours of SOT with very light usage, VERY light... My brightness is 20% all location and Google Now services are off too. Why am I getting such poor battery life compared to others? Any solutions? Thanks.

Try installing the factory image of 6.0.1 from Google. The instructions are on the same place as the images. I had issues on my device by updating and fixed it by Flashing the factory image.

Yes it will wipe the device. You could first try and just clearing cache from recovery and see if it gets better. It's usually a good idea to do that anyways after an update. But yeah updates can cause issues since it is patching rather than a complete clean install.

What do you mean by VERY light? If you use the phone in a manner where you constantly check notifications (screen on and off) and in short bursts, I would think 3.5 hours isn't too bad for a single charge. I get about that SOT with:
- Stock ROM and kernel
- 3 exchange emails on push notifications w/Nine
- Wifi/bluetooth scanning off but both radios on at all times
- Google Now on, battery saving mode for location
- About 30-45 minutes of YT videos per day
- On Wifi nearly 80% of the day
- Check twitter feeds and light texting
- Few phone calls
- Off charger around 6AM and will get home around 6-7PM with ~50% remaining
I can probably push the SOT to 4 to 4.5 if I have longer sessions in watching videos or reading.

Yes, I am on and off a lot, I turn it on for 5 mins and to check facebook or text or whatever. I do that a lot throughout the day. When I watch YT videos it lasts for hours longer. Check the MANY threads about battery life in the forums and common theme you'll see is that SOT is like gas mileage. Longer the trip and more consistent the speed, you'll get more efficiency out of the car.
There are folks reporting 5-6 hours+ and I don't doubt that they do, but most folks just say "I get AWESOME SOT!!!!!" without really describing their setups and usage pattern in detail. Based on the phones I've had previously (N5, S2, HTC M7, S4), and my usage pattern, this is the first phone I have not had to worry about charging mid-day which is all that matters to me. So long story short, don't worry about getting X hours of SOT, but rather compare how the battery does based on your usage patterns against the phones you have had previously (also don't read the battery threads if you get influenced too easily because it can make it seem like you have a defective unit).

The battery is better than my previous phones!! Thanks for the help, you have reassured me a lot. I do have to charge it mid afternoon as just a top up, but it only takes around 30 mins to get enough charge to finish the day which is perfect.
Yep, I'm usually good with one full recharge a day.
I took it off charge at 5:30 am and left it on my desk until 6:50 when I checked it. It dropped 5% in that time. The battery graph suggests that there are wakelocks? HELP?!

Standby drain

When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the Nokia 8's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Definitely a pattern here. Battery very consistent with best SOT I've experienced. Nokia has nailed it in this respect from a relatively small battery

Stopped using it as I found it more of a nuisance than anything else.

This was with Wi-Fi on, NFC on and double tap to wake and smart unlock (location) if that makes a difference.

Wow! Nine hours and it didn't drop a single percentage? What a quality doze
I suspect it was a one off, it would be nice if it did it all the time that's for sure.
Have had my phone 5 days - 4 nights.
1st night was 0% loss - but past 3 nights has been 3-4% overnight in Aeroplane mode.
So I guess some apps I installed since are doing something or trying to do something overnight.

My phone is fully stock and not tampered with in anyway.
Being in Airplane mode only turns off the radios, it doesn't stop the phone from doing things.

Spoke too soon. Saw another 0% drain last night...
Only difference I can think of is that earlier in the day I had disabled 'Push' on my corporate email client 'TouchDown' and set to never sync.
But the weird thing it that the push/sync was only ever scheduled for office hours. So, unless it has been doing something behind the scenes - it does not make sense that it was using 3-4% every night..Pretty sure it did not show up in the usage breakdown figures.
Will check again tonight.
I remember that my Z1Compact used to get away with 0-1% overnight and even my Z3C in the early days - until an Android version upgrade removed the Sony battery optimisation feature.
Update: Another night of 0% drain!
I got the phone on Saturday, and in two nights I'm losing 2-3% in 7-8 hours. I guess this shouldn't happen since my old Galaxy s5 on 7.1.1 had 0% drain. Also today at work battery drained 2-3% while doing nothing on the phone the whole day.
Anyone else with the similar problem?
Has anyone spotted that after Oreo update battery life improved? I managed to get two days out of it with Location/Data on all the time using maps almost all the time pretty impressive.
Hi! If you're only using mobile data (4G/LTE) for internet access the whole time, how much SOT are you having while doing some chats and Facebook?

Losing 2-3% in 7-8 hours is not even close to being a problem.

yeah, but it's not normal.
Also, it can be 7-10% or 10-15%. Phone and kernel sucking battery, still haven't found the solution.

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the HTC U11+ before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Battery life is great.
25 hours so far - 7 hours and counting screen on time
-- Browsing, news apps
-- Settings tweaks
-- WordsWF
-- YouTube
-- Wi-Fi on
-- Bluetooth on
-- Amazon Music
-- Auto brightness
(Full disclosure: 15 min./~5 % juice before I pulled the charger to do this test)
I get between 4 and 8 hours SOT, depending on usage. If I am a lot on the road, using LTE, then I get an SOT of around 4 hours (above it). If I am on WiFi, then it gets or exceeds 8 hours SOT. With a mixed usage I get around 5-6 hours.
I'm not getting as much sot as in was with the normal U11 having said that I've only had the device for 2days so see how it goes...

Remember to disable News Republic and disable background data for Facebook. This helps a lot and gives your device at least 1 hour SOT more.
Using 70% auto brightness, I get around 5 hours SOT over 24 hours on 4g/LTE nothing special

On Wi-Fi it is much better. Expect 7-8 hours SOT
With the battery size i was expecting similar results to the mate 10 and mate 10 pro but looks like its not the case
Standby time is terrible, have disable the always on display, wifi, removed news republic and more bloatware included by htc and in 8h lost around 15% battery.
Terrible? No not here. This battery is great. I have problems getting it empty. And I use my phone a lot. Aod is on by contact. Auto brightness, wifi on.

which OS version are you on? is it the Taiwan model?
Any other tips for battery life, I'm getting around 5h SOT that's with auto brightness off and brightness set to around 40% or lower, disabled background data for fb, insta etc..., Bluetooth scanning off, wifi on, disabled news republic and other bloatware.
Have to say I was expecting more so bit disappointed.

Oddly enough, my battery has improved by not disabling everything I do not use. I have uninstalled/disabled apps I do not use, but I have not touched background data or run in background settings at all.
On 4G battery could be better but on WI-FI I am satisfied. 1.5 days usage or 2 days days if its light usage. I did factory reset though and I still think the software can be optimised more.

I have fixed the drain problem, it was a sense theme, after cleaning the cache the problem was gone.

what exactly was the issue? which cache did you clean? just the app, or phone cache in recovery? how did the drain appear, under cell standby drain?

How do you know it was the theme. Please explain
After cleaning cache and data from home sense, my battery improved alot. Home sense was using around 29% (805mah), changed for Nova launcher and it was the same. The only thing common on both was a theme for navbar.
In developer options I have turned off always on mobile data as it appears to be an Oreo default. I've noticed a difference with that.
