Do you have the SGP351? If so could you share the FTF file for 5.1.1

Hi, you just need to install flashtool (http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php) and download it with integrated xperifirm

It's still not clear to me if the Lollipop 5.1 upgrade is worth it compared to Kitkat 4.3 ? Kitkat 4.3's battery life is amazing, but I really would like the feature that can transfer content over to the SD card. I wish we can backport that feature from Lollipop over to Kitkat.
Does anyone here know how to do that?
Or can anyone help describe if the transfer to SD card feature works for both apps and data? This is probably the only real useful feature and a good reason to upgrade from Kitkat to Lollipop 5.1

any good words on the Tablet Z windy-pollux and Sony firmware 5.1.1 compared to CM12.1........

IMHO upgrade is worth it. Speed, stability and battery life is not worse than on 4.3 definitely. And all latest bugfixes and features of LP.
Transfer content to SD card is useless feature, cause it transfers (sometimes with errors) only .apk to sd card. Cache is still stored in internal memory, so if you planned to use this function for games, it won't help, cause apk size is usually small, and cache size is big.

It's very close in performance (especially after bloatware deletion), smooth and has Sony stuff like PSN, Dual Shock 3 and other proprietary apps and services. If you don't need then stick to CM12.1 cause it's still a bit smoother and definitely more lightweight.

Small update to 5.1.1 was certified - 10.7.A.0.228 firmware. Should contain only stagefright vulnerability fix.

It is not so important.
Since the release of the first version of Lollipop, Android goes down.
It consumes too much energy.
"Mobile radio active" battery drain in all internet apps.

Don't agree with you. I have stock Sony 5.1.1 rooted. Debloated it, and fine tuned (tamed wakelocks, and other battery hungry services.). After it, device has 0-1% battery drain overnight which seems quite good for me.

5.1.1 is easily rooted with latest Vroot or KingRoot.

Please note that you write your opinions in the General section in the thread titled "5.1 Rollout Announced by Sony".
So it does not matter what your preferences, because that is another story for another thread.

Vroot and/or KingRoot is not a good way to root, because you have no control over it, but he has control over the system.
But the best way to move this discussion to the correct thread instead of in each story to write about the incredible benefits is the root.

No biggie - assuming SP hardware can churn kitkat, this opens up a whole play field for the brilliant devs here
Once the FTF becomes available for the other models, the forum will be flooded with rooted 4.4, customised or stock, for SP
i think .192 is fix bug for 4.3

Let's hope so. The Z family is recieving the update and the SP not. According to Sony. We just need to wait.
After I read that the E1 is getting the kitkat update I am convinced that the SP will also get kitkat. We will just have to wait for it...my guess would be july.
just wait for it. lets assume we will get the kitkat next year. ahahaha
And… we’re also excited to tell you that we’ll make Android 4.4; KitKat available for Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia E1 and Xperia M2 – we’ll be back with more details; bespoke feature sets and timings as things progress.

i think maybe same date with t2 ultra, e1 and m2
Think we could just steal the Xperia branding, such as the themes and maybe the walkman app... and throw them into the latest cyanogen build running kitkat?
so its going to be a maybe to a no...am feeling we may never get to 4.4 and if we do it might be by Q4.
I think they're never going for 4.4 and going for the android version after that instead. Much better option because 4.4 would pretty much only fix some ram issues. My 4.3 is absolutely bug free. It already went 650 hours straight without needing a restart or having any bug.

thats pretty impressive. how about battery life ... usage?
Am more interested in 4.4 only so that Adfad666 and uberlaggydarwin(also championswimmer , eagleeyetom) get updated binarys and sources for cm/omni/aokp/pa(why no PA ?).
cause sony firmware will remain as bloated as ever
With kitkat or no kitkat it is just fine as long as the next 4.3 update would fix all the problems we are experiening for a month.
But I would kindly request any mod to close this thread to prevent massive speculation and flaming.
And we also do have a thread for this kind of news

Curious anyone else downgrading?

Just out of curiosity if anyone else is downgrading back to 4.4.4. I honestly miss having Xposed Frameworks, I know its a matter of time but not being able to use some of the features is super annoying. I know at the moment there is no workaround for the Touchwiz framework issues and Xposed on 5.0, but if you are sticking with android L how are you dealing with not having Xposed? My biggest issue is with not being able to change DPI on an app basis and not the whole UI. Please feel free to comment on why you like Kitkat or Lollipop, thanks
Never upgraded to begin with, never will until Xposed for Lollipop on touchwiz comes out. Xposed is just too useful.

I too am a dirty girl when it comes to my love of Xposed. I stayed off of LP until today. I installed CM12 5.0.02 and on NK2 today and wasn't stopping until I got everything right. Now I have Xposed and most of my mods, which is great because touch wiz runs with horrible lag, takes up a lot of Ram and what have you. I can live without every touch wiz feature but Xposed is a must!
Lollipop and no problems here.
I was on lollipop for almost a month. The benefits of 5.0 did not make up for the hit on battery life. Back to KitKat & xposed (w/greenify & amplify). I will probably try tx_dbs_tx's rom when it is completed, but I'm thinking some 5.1 is what we really need.
How did you guys downgrade? By only flashing the modem, etc and staying on 4.4.4 bootloader? I tried ODIN 4.4.4 .tar but i messed up n took the update stock unrooted
I also was on LP since its release, to me it did feel smoother battery life was about the same but i just went back to nk2 yesterday and plan to also stay untill xposed is working on LP.

Its just like installing a custom rom yet its not a custom rom just stock with pre root access. if you have rooted before and have twmp or philz touch whiz recovery just install it from the recovery option wiping Dalvik and Cache and then installing this zip then reboot system and you're good to go. shouldn't be hard follow some guides on youtube if you don't know.
what if i have never rooted before?? because ive got a locked bootloader with 100% stock rom and havent flashed any custom stuff... all i did was get the phone from vodafone and then i flashed the uk firmware (same as the one you have minus the root)

Nice work with the Flashable zip.
Apart from the inclusion of the 'clear all recents' button what else is improved upon, or not forgotten, in comparison to the earlier Lollipop updates?
My Z2 is still showing V 23.1.A.0.726 ready for downloading but so far I've resisted this so-called upgrade, its too half-baked. I'm still on KitKat until I get more feedback on this being a better attempt at an upgrade.
What are your impressions so far?

Well since ive been using it daily I found that the battery has been draining fast soon as I take it off charge its down to 98 percent already I have lollipop ? on my moto g doesn't drain this fast. thx for the zip
So, as I understand
move the zip to my sd card,
flash from recovery( my Z2 is 17.1.1.a.0.402 root with dual recovery) the zip and that is?????
nothing else?
Do I need flashtool or everything else?
i am asking bcause I saw other guides that said at the end to flash with flashtool the ftf fimware:
like step 11 at following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/general/4-4-4-creating-rooted-update-package-t2933155
"Never exclude = never check (x) kernel. It is the main reason we're flashing this."

I've noticed when i was using the stock rom (1000000% uk stock with no extras) i could get around 3/4 days battery life which includes having the bluetooth on all day connected to my helmet and sbh52 and after i installed this im getting half that xD....
So the increased battery consumption is another reason to stay away from this. I get plenty of usage on KitKat, thats with BT and Wifi on nearly all of the time.
From all the negative aspects I've read about Lollipop on the Z2 it seems like its anything but an upgrade.

I'll tell you what I think, after marshmallow has been out for 9 months they are going to start beta testing in the smallest market they have, we are still on 5.0 after close to a year, so given their track record well see marshmallow about 28 months after google N is released, so I'm personally not holding my breathe we'll actually ever see any upgrades ever and most of our devices will with Lollipop still on them.

I prefer 5.0 over 5.1.1 as 5.1.1 ran slower, had a less fluid system ui response and really didn't see any huge improvements anywhere other than it took less ram to run the system. Lollipop was just a horrible os and I would have been happier with kitkat personally.

Yea Lollipop turned out like Honeycomb imo. I would've been fine with KK or JB. 6.0 seems to be the new ICS/JB/KK cycle.
Excellent that is a good new, We only need wait a little more.
I wonder how long it will be before we actually see the final release, I wouldn't mind using beta either if anyone could compile it into a ROM for us to flash.

I like 5.1.1 more than 5.0. based on my experience with S6 edge.
Better memory management. Better SOT.
But it doesn't matter anymore. Let's hope we jump to 6.01.
I am glad we are getting the GMS patches rolled into Asus updates fairly promptly, and I haven't been one of those people angrily demanding version updates super fast, but it is getting ridiculous now. Can't believe how slow they have been. If they had already given us 5.1.1 then it would be forgivable, but to not even have got as much as a point update in nearly a year since launch is pretty abysmal. I mean, while we've been sat on 5.0, google have released 5.0.1, 5.0.2 (nexus 7 2012 only), 5.1, 5.1.1, 6.0 and 6.0.1. It really makes me doubt that I would buy another Asus phone.

It works perfectly here on a Z5 Premium Dual (E6883)
To find the "Charging Optimization" option, go to: settings, about phone, status.

What region do you have for E6883? Haven't received it yet, debating whether to flash manually or not. I started to see better reception on default rom with hone but worried abkthee region might reduce my reception inside buildings in Japan.
Thanks.
New added features:
Move apps to external SD CARD
Charging optimizations
Possible brightness fix.. (seems sharper)
More as I discover them...
@kioshi: I'm in the US but have updated through flashtool (downloaded the file manually).
Best!

Which CDA did you download and install?
the new update if done by OT takes to much internal space! so i had to reflash it, its taking about 8gb now.

Really? When I bought the z5p, I had the August updates to install and did it via OTA. It didn't take space and I only had to clear the cache.
Did you clear cache? That can accumulate quickly.
By the way, using the Malaysian firmware, you receive better reception inside buildings in Japan for e6883 model.
I got the update via OTA today.

via OTA it keeps files! flashing is always much better in my experience...
Might be a bug but I had a moment on this rom where everything froze and place holders appeared around all buttons and functions, it was a bit like talkback had been turned on. Had to do a hard reset.
I have not received the update yet. Does the "move apps to SD" work?
In France I received the OTA yesterday

Yes it does as far as I am aware
Security/Patch level is "excellent". Well done.
And to be more funny (it is for me really! I am not trying to offend or get pissed off anybody!), adding screenshot from a totally obsolete 2012 device (I know this CM, but still the difference it too bright here..)

I went ahead and flashed it with flashtool and all the apps that support being moved to SD move and work well.
9th October this was first released and they have only rolled out just about half csc's. Whats the hold up ? November will be here soon and were waiting for August security patch.... talk about sloooww
My Xperia Z5 Premium still didn't receive that patch. Factory unlocked version bought from Amazon UK.
